gidgiddy: This is stale. The North will not allow regionalism in Nigeria because it simply does not favour them. Any attempt to introduce a bill at the National Assembly will be voted out by them with their numerical strenght. The unitary system of Government currently practiced in Nigeria allows the North to keep its strangle hold on the political life of Nigeria. Ojukwu went to Ghana to negotiate the same thing but the North could not stick to it, hence Ojukwu declared Biafra. The only two options are: Do what Yorubas have done which is to accept the status quo and northern domination or
Do what Igbos have done which is to agitate for a separate country.
Anyone who thinks there any options outside these two is just fooling him or her self Forget the mythical northern numerical strength, the only thing that can make this possible is an alliance between the SW and SE and SS and the vast portions of the NC (middle-belt) that are sick and tired of Hausa-Fulani domination. Looking at it from a strategic point of view, it is not the north that hinders the actualisation of this, rather it is the foolishness of the SE and SW who keep fighting themselves (for no sensible reason) instead of teaming up (for just this cause) to restore regional rule. And regarding the gathering of 2/3rd majority, trust me, there are other ways to achieve things without a 2/3rd majority if and only if the groups involved are really determined. |

yaki84: obailala come n see this.
now tell us whether btw me n u who is confused in the subsidy matter?
lemme tell u how price modulation work, the govt fix the price of commodity, brings in d product at a lesser price n sell to its citizens at their determined price. they make gains from it, but when the price of that product increase, since there is already a fix n determine price by the govt, they use the monies gained during the period the product was less costly to augment for the increase. they aint paying subsidy, they aint subsidising aanything. the only bailout for them is they promised to review the price every 3mnths. nnpc/ppmc did the price review last on march ending, lets wait n see what june ending will bring to us.
I still remeber I told us that increase in crude price will expose the corruption n weakness of price modulation. am vindicated, When you use the money gained to augment the increase, what do you call that?.... Isn't that subsidising?.... If it isn't subsidising, so why is Kachikwu talking of total removal of subsidy now? Look man, you are in a hurry to claim Kachikwu, a first class brain is confused, but you only end up exposing your own intellectual vulnerability. |

yaki84: bobo ibe kachikwu said they r no more paying subsidy that what they r doing is price modulation.
stop trying hard to confuse me. am not dunce nor semi literate.
subsidy regime is no more so buhari talking subsidy is foolish of him.
where r they gettig money to pay subsidy? who budgetted for subsidy? is subsidy in 2016 budget? was subsidy in 2015 budget? so the answer is nom where r they getting the funds to fund subsidy?
crude price is 44dolls per barrel, lastmonth it was btw 38 n 40, we all know crude price determines the price of pms n other petroleum products. the higher the price of crude the higher the price of its by products. so now why subsidise price of fuel when price 8f crude fell to almost 20dolls per barrel?
how much r they subsidizing fuel per litre? where r they getting funds to pay for this subsidy?
lastyr they categorically told nigerians they cant afford to pay subsidy anymore, they came up with price modulation. pump price was restructured to 86.50naira from 87naira.
abeg...... stop am o Haha... someone suffering from a total lack of basic comprehension skills is here calling someone else foolish. Kachikwu said FG wasn't paying subsidy at a point, but he did not say the subsidy regime has stopped. The laziness of Nigerians to read is probably the reason you didn't get the full message; you must have read the title (typical of Nigerians) where it said "Fg not paying subsidies" and then jumped into conclusions that subsidy had been stopped. This is the little bit of information you failed to read or comprehend; fuel landing price was lower than the fixed price of N87.5, so as Nigerians paid N87.5, the extra amounts paid by Nigerians per litre was deducted and saved by the FG. The plan was that if the landing cost exceeds the fixed N87.5 (as it is today), the FG would pay the excess (subsidy) out of the money it had saved when the prices were lower than N87.5. So at no time did Kachikwu tell you that subsidy regime has been stopped, he only said subsidies were not being paid at the point when oil prices were much lower. |

abulbanaat: Former president Goodluck Jonathan has declared his interest to run for presidency in 2019 in Bayelsa State today. A jubilant crowd erupted as news leaked that the former president would be holding a press briefing this afternoon. In a statement released by his media secretary, the former president said, he has been inundated with calls from famous Nigerians to reconsider and salvage the economy from the current decay under the APC led government. The statement reads in part: “A while ago I stood at the stood Eagle Square, to offer myself for election as the President of our beloved country on the platform of our great party; the People’s Democratic Party (PDP). I decided to run for office because of the many troubles our dear country faced. In a hotly contested election, we ‘lost’ the election to the opposition. We would have rejected the election results but decided my personal ambition is not worth the blood of any Nigerian. “I made it clear then that when I leave office, Nigerians will understand the freedom they enjoyed under my administration. Are my I saint? Certainly not. Were my Ministers saints? Certainly not. But the opposition have unleashed untold hardship on Nigerians. I read from the news how power generation dropped to zero for a few hours. I read how the minister of State petroleum told Nigerians that he is not a magician to fix Nigerian oil problems. As we speak, subsidy regime has returned. As we speak the current government have reverted pump price to where we left it. “Over the years, the Almighty God has made it possible for me to develop a bond with you and I am grateful for your support and understanding in the difficult periods we have journeyed through. Distinguished ladies and gentlemen, as I stand here this day being April 1, I declare to you that our stewardship has not been without challenges. We dealt with waves of insurgencies, vandalization of our nation’s pipelines and armed banditry. Let me crave the indulgence of all present here to stand up to observe a minutes silence in honor of fathers, mothers, sisters and brothers who lost their lives in Agatu. The situation in Agatu and elsewhere has cast a dark cloud on our Nation but we will surely win. A number of young men and women have been kidnapped by these criminal elements including our daughters from Enugu and Kanu States. “During my tenure, we established a Presidential Initiative for the North East, the Victim Support Fund and the Safe School Initiative. These programs built Almajiri schools and opened brand new universities across all regions in this country. I read how the APC led government dissolved the governing board of universities and sacked the vice chancellors. We did what we did to better the lots of less privileged among us. Today, those dreams are but a mirage. “I am grateful to all Nigerians for standing with me and my ministers despite the persecution we have so far face by the current administration. Let me also thank the leaders and elders of our great party, the People’s Democratic Party, for the opportunity reposed on all PDP governors and House of Assembly members. I am overwhelmed by the trust, confidence and support of the various organs of our party, the Board of Trustees, the National Caucus, the National Executive Committee, the National Working Committee, the PDP Governors Forum, members of the PDP Caucuses of the National Assembly, and others. This trust showed itself in the just concluded Rivers state re-run elections. This day affords me the opportunity to continue the conversation of development we started together. We must develop our country. vanguardnigeria.org/gej-expresses-interest-2019/ I was wondering how low Vanguard newspaper had degenerated to when I came across the bolded error. Doctoreee1: This list of richest politicians in Nigeria 2016 was compiled by the American FBI. It will shock you to know that Nigeria was currently listed first among the top 10 corrupt countries in the world 2016. One wonders where these Nigerian rich politicians got their wealth from.
Would you classify these Nigerian richest politicians among the top billionaires in Nigeria like Dangote, Mike Adenuga, Femi Otedola e.t.c who we know are got their wealth through business and investments or rate them among the corrupt leaders in Nigeria who continually drain the economy of Nigeria at the expense of the suffering masses just to be wealthy. Without much ado, below are the list of Richest Politicians in Nigeria 2016 and their Net Worth as revealed by the FBI
1. Rochas Okorocha – $1.4 billion
2. Kwankwaso – $1.15 billion
3. Shettima – $1.1 billion
4. Nyako – 805 million
5. Ibrahim – $798 million
6. Amaechi – $757 million
8. Abdulaziz – $626 million
9. Oshiomole – $625 million
10. Aregbesola – $513 million
11. Almakura – $510 million
12. Wamako – $476 million
13. Fashola – $448 million
14. Amosun – $442 million
15. Ahmed- $437 million
16. Ajimobi – $422 million
From the above list, you can see that Rochas Okorocha is the richest politician in Nigeria. Well, those are the list of richest politicians in Nigeria as released by the American FBI. What do you think about the list? Source; www.nigerianinfopedia.com Lol... this is the exact reason why GEJ lost the election, very dull supporters with zero intellectual capacity... FBI just wakes up and passes names of the richest 16 politicians in Nigeria and they're all APC chieftains, and of course, no reasonable news source carries this news, it would only be spread on facebook and on some strange blogs by people with like minds as the author. The only thing standing on the way of the actualisation of great developmental projects of this nature is the lack of leadership vision, political will and courage of our leaders to see it through.
Thank God we have someone with the vision and focus of Prof Ayade who is boldly about to do the unthinkable; hopefully this project comes to fruition in record time. chigoizie7: In 2005 , according to u a plane hits a cow.
What you should be asking is,
What are cows doing in a run way?
What are cows doing in the airports? It could have been disastrous.
It should have been a big lesson to all and sundry that allowing these herdsmen move about freely, cnstituting nuisance is not good for this country.
And speaking out or condemning the act would have been a better option, but how do u do that? Of course media houses is one of te places to create such awareness. I dont see anything the OP did by posting pictures of herdsmen walking where they are not meant to.
Keeping quiet and making it all look normal will make dem wander into another airfield to graze, because it is now clear that these people are ignorant of what they are doing.
It is sane people like you that are meant to caution them or their leaders, it seems they only listen to their leaders or people of same clan. It is evident even here on NL, there is another thread of herds of cows obstructing the movements of imo state governor for morethan 30mintes. And if someone speaks about its dangers on social media, the person is considered a hate personified individual.
1st thing is this, 2005 is a long time, this is 2016 and if u can not some of the things that brought u back in the past, how do u intend to move forward?
1st of all, condemn that very act of herders obstructing the major roads all over this country, condemn their act of grazing on peoples farms, and if they now ask of a reasonable alternative if they stop all those, mention "RANCHES" to them, educate them on the importance of cattle ranches.
And stop condemning peole who condemns this barbaric acts of herding cattles on the streets or destroying peoples farms. No one supports the crude and improper practice of cattle roaming into concrete streets. But how any normal human chooses to politicise an age-long anomaly by suggesting that this has anything to do with Buhari being president, that senselessness is actually what is being criticised (and not your criticism of the impropriety of having cattle roam into streets). Without digging too far, a thread was on the front page this morning about Rochas' convoy being delayed for 30 mins by roaming cattle. As expected, majority of the responses turned it to politics with several people lambasting Rochas for being responsible because he's in APC and he supported Buhari. Below is one of the senseless responses with its numerous 'likes' greatness22: When you're dinning with the devil, expect nothing less than, embarassement, anguish, sadness and madness.

O yes this has been happening through the ages but the audacity and intensity increased beyond comprehension since Buhari got into Aso Rock.
For decades herdsmen had not kidnapped a high profile persons like Falae or murdered traditional rulers and other countless arson and destructions but today it has become a norm since Buhari assumed office.
I have consistently read your posts over time, you are starkly prejudiced and seeks to accuse others over what you do here everyday and night. ehissi: Well!! Except I am quoting Lai Mohammed himself or his Personal assistant on Masquerade Affairs; he didn't give the scenerio/analysis/explanation you gave!!
Except you are planning to corner him one of these and offer him your "Explanations": we are doomed to judge him by the explanations he gave and not the one you gave.
We judge him, only based on the scenerios/explanation he debated on the floor of the House just like people judge fashola based on his 6months "Rocket Science scenerio".
And based on the Explanation he gave, Lai Mohammed like Fashola was just pulling out Scenerios outta his ass.
One thing, he didn't even mention the particular tribe nor the name of the masquerade festival in the south east where he said it takes 100 people to dress-up a masquerade. Also nobody in the east, not even in Cross-rivers - that has a plethora of Masquerades - is corroborating is 100-man dressing committe masquerade.
Is it possible to rebrand certain aspects of culture of some states for tourism!!?? Yes!!
Is it possible given the scenerio Lai Mohammed gave!!?? No!!!
From corporate organisations to even project defence within an academic environment environment. If you propose a theory/hypothesis or a project and provide case studies; if scenerios within the case study are faulty or deemed not plausible, then the entire project or hypothesis is called to question.
Either you work on your scenerios/case study or change project/hypothesis.
As a minister, I expect him to work with facts. You - to the best of my Knowledge, which is very shallow as far as you are concerned - are not even a minister. But you were smart enough to give details of how to successfully rebrand festivals and you cited specific examples!!
Then a whole minister is busy throwing vague ideas, similitude of knowlegde and speculations!!
That actually bears the trappings of sheer cluelessness at best, at worst, incompetence and a sign of a minister of information and culture who has no information on culture!!
A scenerio that replays itself with Kemi Adeosun!! Who equally displays sheer ignorance of facts and figures; basic tools required to lead organisations. How much more a country as big as ours!!
Its a sign!! A very bad sign I tell you! And you would need to have a huge bias for the current government or party in power to think otherwise.
Period!! There is a reason we go to school, it is not to pass exams, neither is it to just get certificates to apply for jobs. The reason we go to school is so our brains are developed so we can think and comprehend things for ourselves without having to have it explained to us as primary school pupils. My education all through my life would be a waste if I expect every little detail to be explained to me. Once again I say, Lai was simply referring to the economic potentials derivable from promoting cultural festivals, as an educated adult, I dont need a robust explanation like a child to understand the meaning of what he said. Unfortunately, for the sake of political and ethnic sentiments, most of you guys have sent your discerning abilities on holidays |

ehissi: I for one, marvel at folks who try to hold forte for Lai Mohammed's as regards his statement of Masquerades being "Repackaged" to employ Nigerians!!
Lai Mohammed made a comment that clearly display his talent for telling lies. It is largely on the basis of this comment that his entire deposition is discredited; also it is largely on the basis of this particular comment that the Honourable members of the House of Reps raise questions as to to how he intends to generate employment through tourism!!
Please note that I am paraphrasing and not quoting verbatim.
"That there are Maquerades in the South-East - E don go find trouble for IPOB people side - that require a 100 people to dress them up and another 100 people to UnCloth"
He also suggested that rebranding the masquerade preparations can provide employment opportunities for 1000 people!!
All those people arguing in favour of Lai Mohammed are simply trying to make "a way where they seems no way". Something me I know say na only Baba God dey do and not Buhari nor Lai Mohammed.
I am from Edo state, and I know that except we want to create masquerades just for the sake of tourism; not just any tom, dick and harry is permitted to be involved in preparations of masquerade - a lot of them which have Occultic/Spiritual implications which are closely linked to our culture.
Except for folks who are willing to bastardize their cultural heritage for "green-backs" from tourist, in most communities in Edo-state; such idea is just dead on arrival.
Highest, they televise the festivals and invite local and international bodies to sponsor it, that's all.
Anything other than that, is living within the realm of Lai Mohammed's vivid imagination, which I perceive is very roboust; judging from the big big lies the guy dey blow daily!! The simple point Lai was trying to make was that masquerade festivals (or similar cultural festivals) could be rebranded and promoted for tourism, EOD! With the explanations I gave, only a person who is politically or ethnically prejudiced would still argue over this simple explanation. |

Therein lies what you are, and not what you claim you are. Your deceit can not work. Well, politicians love power, so they value and fight for appointments. I am not a politician, so even though I may want to see a more even/fair spread of appointments, I am more concerned about raw developmental projects which can affects me positively. I asked what value the numerous appointments GEJ gave to the SS and SE brought to these zones, the reason I asked was to reveal the futility of these appointments when compared to tangible projects. But obviously, you and many others are more concerned about the appointments to individuals; that is your cup of tea, I dont share your views on that though and you are free to think whatever you want. Regarding the last bit of your comment, I have been a nairalander for over 8 years, and especially in the last 2 years (GEJ era), I have severally been ethnically profiled by some intolerant tribal imbeciles who are mentally incapable of processing the logic of how a person can dare to think differently from the clannish crowd. Advice Buhari Mr. Man and quit beating about the bush, afterall Lai is of the view that the buck stops on my table bla bla bla..... this is how people get themselves on the way of flying bullets not meant for them. Like I said in my previous post which you mentioned, my statement was referring to some imbeciles on facebook and on this site who were rejoicing over this mess; the last time I checked, I did not mention dunkem21 but you jumped in from God knows where to take the bullet meant for these twerps as if you represent or are one of them. You begin to give the cock and bull response of 'GEJ not being affected personally by bokoharam.' Boy park well! |

DauraDullard0: I have always known you're a Yorubastard fool! The next time you open your filthy mouth to claim Igbo, vultures and maggots will feed on your putrefying body. Like I have always said, if being an idiot is your criteria for being igbo, then Im happily a fulani man or yoruba or whichever one you want. Fuckoff my mentions. |

Bassee: Oga that you choose not to see them doesn't mean they aren't there. Afterall we were all in this country when your Minister of Transport said that in his 8 year rule as governor of rivers state he never knew a rail line passed through his backyard. You choose what you see, my friend!!! Bro we talking common sense here not some senseless political rhetoric; 5000 to 25000km, meaning that 20,000km of roads were built/fixed in 5 years?... no reputable media source carries this wonderful story except for some strange blogs, I cannot point out any roads in southern Nigeria which were completed except some patched portions and stretches in some roads like benin to ore, and you think this is a meaningful argument?... Wake up man... apply some common sense. |

dunkem21: Oga, stop this yarns.. GEJ never suffered BH attack personally yet it was used against him..
I want all of you here to show us your post condemning BH or STFU..
HYPOCRITES! Are you kidding me?... Did a normal human just come up with this kind of comment? Did you see me or anybody on this forum rejoicing and urging bokoharam to throw more bombs because we felt we were punishing GEJ?... Look man let me tell you something, to whom brain is given, sense is expected. It is a shame that most of you Jonathanians have totally lost it since Jonathan lost that election. Just negodu gutter reasoning? |
