VivaDeAngelo:You are the one dwelling in the cave of irredeemable ignorance. Swerve! |
Here we go again with these idiotic threads... Threads like this really reveal how dull some people can really be. Common sense is really very uncommon in this our Nigeria. ![]() |
The simple question I have for PDP, for the 16 years they ruled Nigeria, did the CBN or FIRS ever for once advertise vacancies? If Nigerians are complaining, the diabolic imbeciles called PDP are also complaining. Yeye dey smell! |
MarieSucre: All joinxpensivNas:You ended up doing nothing here but 'saying rubbish.' Speaks volumes of your person ![]() |
I think the answer to the question raised is already in the write-up. Excessive gra-gra cost Murtala his life in 6-months. Excessive gra-gra cost Buhari his seat in 18-months and he additionally had to cool his heels in prison for 40-months afterwards. 30-years later, Buhari is now being restrained by democratic bureaucracy and the fear of the repercussions of excess gra-gra (would be silly to repeat the same mistakes again). |
247frolicboss: ![]() I think it should be banned completely from the Nigerian airwaves. These are the kind of things ElRufai should be banning and not the other way around ![]() |
yaki84:Hahaha... I knew you were going to hit back like this ![]() But then, dont you think you are doing the exact same thing you are criticising these people of?... In fact you are doing it in a more ridiculous way. |
yaki84:Drop the blame game bro.... if the blame game starts, it is enough to go round to everyone. We should be thinking of the way forward. |
BlackBaron:This is actually a very good idea and for it to work, our journalists have to take the bull by the horn and ask candidates very daunting questions when they least expect. But then again, the misfortune of tribalism and the hunger/greed for a few coins tossed at individuals would render this brilliant idea almost unworkable. |
SonOfEl:Under the Nigerian geo-political arrangement, akwa-ibom falls under the SS geopolitical zone; this isn't an elemetary geography case where you just draw 4-compass points of north-east-west-south. We also have zones like north-central and formerly mid-west which don't really tally with the elementary geography compass points. Then again, talking about Igbo land, Anioma and the Igbo speaking areas of Rivers are obviously Igbo land, I doubt if anyone has ever disputed that. But when it comes to the present secession plot, are the non-SE Igbos willing to jump on the boat with the larger Igbo population?.. That is a question for another day. |
kYjelly2:Your emotions are obviously running on overdrive. We are not here to argue semantics or origins of the word south-south. The words in your so called dictionary or your so called 'google' were all created by humans. Similarly, south-south is a 'geopolitical' term, just the same way we have the north-central or the way we had the mid-west; it is a simple geopolitical coinage. That the existence of the word 'SS' doesn't suit your present political argument, that does not mean the people who use the word are stupid, so watch your mouth. Furthermore, erasing the term 'south-south' and lumping it into the SE does not automatically erase the maladies of fuel scarcity, power failure etc. which you highlighted. So quit spewing words out of sour emotions. |
kYjelly2:Bro, no need to get emotional about this, there's no need to go into the semantics of the meaning or origins of the word 'south-south.' It may make no sense according to your elementary geography but then, remember it's also political, hence it's called a 'Geo-Political' zone. The last time I checked, the people from this 'mystery' zone are happy with this classification and I believe they have a right to maintain their own identity. Without any further arguments on semantics, I'm sure you now understand what I mean when I use the word SS?.... Most of the people from this region who have voiced their opinions about the disintegration idea have clearly stated that even if they were to leave Nigeria, they would rather be on their own republic than join in Biafra. It is a known fact that the SS zone owns the resources which is used to spoon feed all other 5 geopolitical zones in Nigeria. If the secessionist must include the SS, proper negotiations and agreements have to be reached first instead of just lumping the SS together with the SE in the secession plot. The people of the SS are humans too and should be respected and allowed to speak for themselves. Finally, this thread is about an economic and political statement from Pastor Bakare, let's not turn this to another ipob thread. |
Bakare is right about the fact that the government needs to look beyond the oil price woes and focus on other ways to boost the economy vis-a-vis, diversifying the economy. It would be obviously silly for the govt to fold its arms waiting for oil prices to rise before it takes proactive steps in diversification. This doesn't change the fact that the oil price crash is responsible for the present economic woes. The solution to the problem however lies beyond oil. |
Achuwa1:Why do some of you secessionists keep deceiving yourselves that the SS wants to leave with the SE?.... This 'by-fire-by-force' attachment keeps getting more and more ridiculous by the day and even the SS keeps getting more and more suspicious of this special love. |

Lol... |
Oma307: VivaDeAngelo:What exactly is government functions?... do you expect the VP to take pics when he's working in his office? |
Mboi:I did not say things are better in Nigeria. But anyone with a little education and enlightenment can see from miles away that all the things you suffer today vis-a-vis los of jobs, currency crash etc are purely the effect of crash in oil prices and the attendant cash crunch. It has nothing to do with any buhari's economic policy. A mono-product economy is bound to sink if the value of the only product we sell sinks. Everything you use as your indices today to score Buhari was equally as bad (and even worse) in the last 6 months of GeJ so wake up from your slumber. If you must compare both men, the only reasonable comparison is to compare buharis regime with the last days of GEJ. |
authority2006:Thank you very much for this very simple explanation. The simple concept is that price modulation is still in place. For some months, landing cost of fuel was less than the official price hence the FG saved the excess in an account. Now the landing cost is more than the official price and the FG is paying the difference obviously from the funds that were saved in the preceeding months. How on earth can this be too difficult for these wailing zombies to understand? The level of daftness displayed on this thread is absolutely shocking. I cant believe how an entire generation of Nigerian youths can just be so dumb not to understand a simple concept. Sometimes I wonder what these people do with their brains. |
Chaiiiiii! ![]() This is fatality! |
PreyingMantis: TheArchangel:Oh yes, just like the budget padding case. It's public knowledge that the president called for investigations immediately and vowed to punish any culprits. Consequently, several directors and staff of the budget office were summarily removed (with investigations still ongoing) while the NASS was left to scrutinise and clean the budget. Now even with the NASS cleaning and passing the budget, PMB has still refused to sign it pending when he personally scrutinises the figures again ministry by ministry. This was all in the news so I wonder why you both claim to be oblivious of this. http://www.vanguardngr.com/2016/03/2016-budget-ll-reviewed-ministry-ministry-give-accent-buhari/ A similar case was the TSA saga with systemspecs taking large percentages. Buhari is not an omnipotent and omniscient god who can wave his hands and perform miracles for all corrupt practices to stop. Nigerians are naturally corrupt and will always look for loopholes to play a fast one. But as soon as the case/allegations was raised, an instant directive was given for investigations to commence. Systemspecs was made to return the chunk of cash they had received and the contracts were re-negotiated. That is the only reasonable thing I expect of a leader. It's not rocket science folks. |
Gentle2015:If there are 10 red balls and 3 blue balls in a basket, I wouldn't be wrong is I refer to it as 'the basket with the red balls.' There's nothing hasty or wrong about such generalisations. We know ourselves. |
What the Op has described concerning power bill happens in Nigeria all the time. NEPA gives estimated bills for a while, then when they eventually come and read your meter and it is discovered you have over-payed, the amount is moved forward as 'credit.' The Op probably never paid nepa bills in Nigeria. |
TheArchangel:Like I told the person who called me out, I am more confident that under a Buhari, cases like this would not be allowed to be easily swept under the carpet as was the case in the past; that's the simple essence of the change chant and what I say has nothing to do with sycophancy. Once again, just incase it is too complex for you to understand, Buhari is not an omniscient or omnipotent god who can wave his hands and all corrupt practices will dissappear (that is obviously what you expect him to do). Nigerians by nature love corruption and there will always be corruption. However, the simple point I made is that when discovered, cases like this will be treated appropriately and attempts will not be made by the president to hide or cover it up. That is definitely a good thing! |
PreyingMantis:Haha... Once again, may you be reminded that nothing could possibly be worse than Jonathan in terms of the proliferation of corruption. Unlike GEJ who jumps in at a moments notice and starts defending irregularities such as these, the difference today is that a Buhari will call for an investigation and appropriate actions would be taken if any is found wanting. That Buhari is the president does not mean some animals will not still try to steal (it is in our nature as Nigerians to steal), the difference between today and the past is that when these irregularities are identified, they would be investigated and any culprits punished accordingly. The biggest sin of GEJ which earned him the boot was his disturbing nonchalance, tacit approval and his glaring institutionalisation of corruption. I understand the urge by you Jonathanians to prove that PMB is also as corrupt. But just save your breathe, cos no matter how hard you guys try, you cannot rope Buhari into that messy lifestyle. I would leave you with a statement by Prof Soyinka... "Those who are neck deep in the sewage of corruption ensure that they splatter sewage in all possible and improbable directions" |
macluvph1:My point is this, the problems which have made us unable to achieve anything as one Nigeria, those problems will not be solved by splitting, we would only add more complications to our problems. The grass always looks greener on the other side though, but this is just my opinion based on the way I see things; I may be wrong, and you may also be wrong. Another thing I would like to point out is the haste with which the entire secession plan is being processed, I think this recent widespread secession campaign is driven purely by emotions and without deep thought; emotions of anger fuelled by last year's election. No reasonably progressive decision can be made out of emotions. |
godoluwa:The fact is, no president can unilaterally do it. A GEJ couldn't and wasn't going to do it, a Buhari can't and wouldn't (for obvious reasons). If it must be implemented, the different groups in favour of it have to come together and push for it to be implemented. |
godoluwa:The only reason why they appear greater is because they have come together. The fulani menace is suffered by the SS, SE, SW and mostly the middle belt. If these groups come together, the northern hegemony would be crushed instantly. But we've failed to realise this since 1960. Today the SE wants to 'run away' and it plans to drag the SS along. The SS has been feeding Nigeria for decades and is still feeding Nigeria; the fact is that nobody, no zone, not even the SS would agree to move away with the SE. It is almost an impossible wild goose chase. The only solution is unity of the south, if not for other things but at least to fight for the implementation of those confab reports. |
