So he is expected to source a sum as huge as 23million dollars for a foreign trip right?? If that is not an accusation then what is... You,speaking this big grammar do you fly out of the country with such an amount considering the current exchange rate??Even if u are to travel to a hundred countries??What exactly is wrong with all you partisan folks, has APC and PDP hypnotized all of you??
First of all, the person who made the tweet did not reveal any form of evidence to back his claim. For all I care, it could just be a foolish fabrication by a drunk man holding a smart phone. If I wake up today and say, Jonathan stole $20billion cash from CBN, I would be as silly as the people who believe it even without presenting any single evidence to back my claim.

Secondly, the tweet did not say $23m was withdrawn for 1 trip.

What exactly is the accusation here?..... Buhari as the president of Nigeria is going on a foreign work related trip, is he expected to source his forex from the abokis selling dollar under that flyover?.... i'm keen to know what exactly is the accusation here.

Hahaha... The dude who quoted the 80% figure was only passing a simple message across. The use of the 80% figure was simply a hyperbolic estimation; we aren't in a primary 4 maths class where you expect people to start counting numbers and calculating precise fractions - it is assumed that people responding here are at least adults or older teenagers. The message passed was simply that "contrary to the stories making the rounds about APC failed states scrambling for bailout funds, MOST of the states that were bailed out were even PDP states."

If you guys were not overwhelmed by your political emotions, you should have gotten the very simply message. But instead, you all began counting number of apc states in the list.

I have no intention of boring you with no epistle neither am I seeking attention. I just want to view people's different opinions on a decision I took a few days ago.
There's a colleague in my place of work who is a pastor (not full time). he uses a small Nokia phone while I use an infinix hot 2 together with a small itel. The colleague came to me asking if I could exchange my itel with his Nokia phone reason because the itel phone has internet connectivity while the Nokia phone only has torch light. He claims he hasn't been online for a couple of months, in summary he just want to surf the net. I, being so generous and simple thought to myself, I do have a better one I browse with, so I decided to do the exchange. few weeks later, he was ready to return my phone, he told me but I wasn't with his phone so I told him I would bring it the following day.
Fast forward to the next day, I got to the office before him, and on sighting him I remembered I wasn't with his phone, right there I made a U turn without him seeing me, I went back home to get his phone and rushed back to the office. After the first quarter of the day, he came to my office only for him to explain how the phone got stolen the previous day where he went to charge (I blame PHCN for that). Then he asked me, what should we do. I got so dumbfounded and confused, I thought for a while and decided to let go. I gave him his phone and told him to forget about the idea of getting me a new phone, cuz it seems to me like revenge.
on getting home, I explained everything to my mom only for her to shade me and lambast my action. she said I acted so foolishly and made my consciousness sour. now please Nigerians, have I acted in a kind manner like my conscience tells me or foolishly as my mom said?

I'm still not sure if his "pastorial calling" influenced my decision or not.
An act of kindness, especially when you can afford it, can never be foolishness.

There's a photo of Buhari wearing a suit, playing with his grandson and of course not wearing a hat, the hateful IPOBs cannot and will not see that. If he wants to hide anything regarding his hair, he would have done it during that same campaign. After being elected, there is a photo of him in Saudi Arabia praying wearing a piece of white cloth wrapped around him and with no hat, posted most likely by his photographer or official media aide, Ibos cannot see that. See how hatred causes people to lose all common sense?

Why would Buhari, an already accomplished man at 73 be ashamed of a balding hair when men who are only 30 years or less, some not even married or dating are already bald or balding almost completely? Some of these have no jobs nor accomplished anything yet but they are bald! Kanu is a 40+ year old man, he is a washed-up failure in prison and would most likely be convicted of treason and executed, never achieving anything in his life but he is BALD! Why do Ibos have this much hatred for anyone? What is the use of GEJs hair that could not help him from losing an election or being such an "ineffectual Buffon" of a president who failed practically and left shamefully? Ibos can wail till they are blue in the face but I don't see how any part of Nigeria will ever trust them as dog catcher never mind being president!!

Mboi:
I don't k how much they pay you to be defending them blindly. The reason why this country is not moving forward is because of people like you. The reason why the youths don't have a place in Nigerian govt is because of people like you. They paid you to come here and confuse people with things that don't exist. The first time Audu Ogbe mentioned grass importation, he said it will stop Fulani herdsmen from invading people's farms in search of food for their cows. People reacted against if, now they have changed it that it will increase milk production just to deceive Nigerians. Don't think you can deceive everybody here with those useless points you raised there, you talked about things that don't exist and you know it.
Talking of being a looser, PDP and APC, who is a looser in Nigeria today or do u think the game ended at the polls? The masses make the govt work, when a govt comes up with a policy that does not go well with the masses, they'll protest against it by any form or means available to them and the govt will sit up,change what ever policy or stop it. Here the reverse is the case. Anytime this govt goes against the people's wish, people like you will accept money from them, come here to attack anybody that says against such bad move by the govt and that is why Buhari and APC think they can do anything and Nigerians cannot do anything.
The points I made and the points Audu Ogbeh made are very simple and clear for any person with the most basic education to understand; it is bot rocket science and at least, I believe we all did a little of agric science in high school. There are several things to gain from the initiative which includes a boost in beef and milk production and in addition, with the plan to have cattle restricted to the grass reserves, cattle herders wouldnt have to move their cows around in search of pasture and this would help avoid the recurrent clashes between the herdsmen and farmers. What on earth is so difficult to underatand in this most basic explanation?

Now the real reason why Nigeria isnt moving forward is because of people that you who have instead of applying some common sense and focus to discern a very simple initiative like this, you have emotionally chosen to only view and judge everything in this life from the microscopic prism of political/ethnic/tribal/religious sentiments. That is the exact reason the black man is backwards and that is the exact reason the older generation has refused to relinquish power to the youths; the youths exemplified by your manner of reasoning have clearly not shown any sigm that we are ready to take over.... we choose to dwell purely on emotions and refuse to use our God given intellects.

For the records, I am not a card carrying member of any political party (even though I have my leanings to the apc strictly because of Buhari and my disgust for what pdp has done to this country for 16 years). I dont personally know any politician and I am not even resident in Nigeria. I am just a concerned Nigerian who gets irked by the reasoning of people I encounter on social media everyday. For crying out loud, what on earth is so difficult for educated people to understand in this simple initiative?... why do we always see everything as a ground to make political arguments?

Princewill1:
This argurment is faulty. No explanation can justify the importation of grass at this period of time in Nigeria. Are you aware that there is shortage of forex in Nigeria? Which is presently causing the economic problems we are having today.

So we should use the little forex left to import grass for cows, instead of to import essential and stable food like rice for humans?

Is like this fulani govt values the lives of cattle more than the lives of human? (Agatu massacre also comes to mind).

By the way,the milk issue you are talking about is a long term project. Is not like if you feed the cattle with imported grass today, then tomorrow they will start producing quantity milk that will serve the milk need of Nigeria. It will take years to develop. The milk production industry in Europe that we are importing from were not developed overnight.

We have emergency economic situation at hand right now,we can't afford to waste the scarce forex we have. They govt should come to the south to take grass to the north.

We have to spend our little forex based on our scale of preference, unless if this govt values cattle more than humans inhabiting the country.
There is nothing faulty about the argument, it does not make sense to re-invent the wheel. The grass seedlings being imported are 'raw materials' meant to be used for planting/production and which in turn would boost beef and milk production. There is nothing faulty about importing raw materials to be used for production, especially when it would be a one-off (we would be growing the grasses in Nigeria going forward).

Man must not live by bread (food) alone, we cannot continue to be consumers and never producers. Your suggestion to import rice (food) instead amounts to giving someone fish instead of teaching him to fish (that is never a wise option).

By mentioning Fulani and Agatu, you have simply drifted away from the topic into politics, quit being emotional and get yourself focused; not everything in life should be viewed from the political/ethnic/religious perspective, this is common sense. It isn't about patronising fulani cattle rearers nor about fulani presidency, it is simply a commonsensical move to increase Nigeria's food (beef and milk) production.

You talk of the increase in milk production not taking a day, oh yes, it is not a days job, but it will never be achieved if it's never started. By the way, nobody ever said it takes a day.

Finally, importing improved seedlings (raw material) to boost our local production of food can never be a waste of forex. Isn't it ironical that you support the importation of rice for consumption but you are against the importation of improved grass seedlings for planting?

Obviously, most people criticising this plan are driven by political emotions and sentiments. But FYI, even the rice revolution celebrate today in Nigeria as started by the immediate past agric minister, improved rice seedlings (flood resistant) were imported and planted to support the revolution. There is nothing wrong in acquiring and planting improved seedlings, that's what agricultural science is all about.

You made some good points which I must say are valid. I am not a nutritionist but I would suggest we import what the Brazilians used in multiplying the nutrients in their grass rather than importing the grass. When Malaysia took our palm oil ideas they went for our Palm fruits not our Palm trees so how about importing chemicals or fertilizers that will multiply and enrich the grasses wasting in the south then move most to the north thereby creating jobs and helping our economy to grow instead of importing grass which I know will be left to dry if care is not taking due to corruption in high places. I would like you to correct me if I am wrong, thanks.
Genetically modifying crop seedlings isn't a days job, it could even take several years or even decades. If you go back and read the article, the writer made a point ,"why should we re-invent the wheel?"... The simplest and most sensible thing to do under such circumstances is to take already improved seedlings (raw materials) and plant them in your country; that is what serious nations do, and that is what crop science is all about.

I dont think I understand your question, but the plan by the agric ministry is simply to import very high nutrient hybrid grass seedlings which would henceforth be grown in Nigeria; the imported grass isn't for consumption but rather for planting. Contrary to what many respondents on this thread think, GRASS IS NOT GRASS.

uncle, you've not made your point clear. I dont see the need for such long article in the first place. WE ARE IMPORTING PREMIUM GRASS SEEDLINGS. Full stop!
Which can be argued and won't affect our forex in any way. Even you can gift it out as an 'APC' chieftain concern. Just say its your quota to national growth.
Trust me, there are several variants of fresh grass down south. Just a few reserve in cross river can feed all the cows in Nigeria four times over.
For me seedings that can survive in the north yes, grass NO.
Yeah, the point is very simple, they plan to import high nutrient grass seedlings for planting in reserves, the grasses are not being imported for direct consumption and the importation would be a noe-off. These high nutrient feedstock have the capacity to greatly improve beef and milk production and in addition, the plan to restrict movement of the cattle from place to place would also help to produce more healthy and fatter cows (more beef).

Yeah I totally agree with you. The level of poor information dissemination in the country, especially with the explosion of social media today is truly disturbing. I find it strange than majority of the reports on this continuously come up with misleading titles about "importing grass for consumption." A lot of respondents actually have no idea that the grass is being imported for planting.
