Ikpewe:That's one way to view it. Another way to view it is that this story is confirmation that only insane people will see all that is going on and still support APC ![]() |
Deomelo Please tell me this is a lie |
CloudResident:Simple question you cannot answer. ![]() Olodoo. ![]() Sorry for yourself ![]() |
CloudResident:Just read what you wrote. Does anything there make sense? Name one country in the world where government can choose to demolish a building with approved building plan without compensation. Does being a Nigerian mean impunity should be supported? |
kolaish:It's obvious you don't know much about this issue and are not willing to open your closed mind to enlightenment. The case is already in court and Ayefele has secured a restraining order on the government's proposed demolition. Saying that they enjoyed previous government sympathy is hearsay as I'm sure you don't have any evidence to prove that. If you knew anything about law you would know that government can only demolish illegal structures without compensation. If they choose to continue with their nefarious plans, then they should be ready to pay compensation through their nose for illegal demolition as the building plan was approved. Let's see if they will dare proceed with their plan when slammed with a potential 1bilion naira lawsuit. But then again, this is Nigeria where precedent has already been laid for contravention of court orders so who knows? |
kolaish:Why don't you respond to points I raised? If the station was deemed to be in violation of safety, why was same not demolished when the road was being built and ayefele compensated to relocate? Why is it this expedient now? Your argument is even working against you. Are you now alleging it is the mast and not the structure that is the problem? Bro please stop supporting impunity. If the government intends to demolish the structure for political gains let them say so. Even if that was an office would the position of the building change? Has the government stated their intent to demolish the building to widen the road? Are they ready to pay compensation? Yet again I ask has the government gone ahead to install something so basic as speed bumps and road signs to check unsafe driving in that vicinity? |
kolaish:Oga. Please refer to the reason stated by the government for the proposed closure before running your commentary. They allege that building approval obtained was for an office not a radio station and not because of your setback sir. Even if that were to be the case, why then was the building approved? Also what any responsible government interested in maintaining your setback does is to pay compensation to building owners and then proceed to demolish. So pray do tell, was this done? No Have safety signs and speed bumps being installed on the road? No Was building constructed after road was built? No Was building plan approved? Yes So what then is your case? |
Oblongata: |
kolaish:What do you know about setback sir? What should be the appropriate setback distance? What is the current setback of the building? Why was the building plan approved? In the building plan, was the setback not stated? Why was it approved? |
okomile:You are the one who has not read the story well ma. The government alleged that approval obtained was for an office not a radio station hence the structure is illegal meanwhile from 2008-date government has been collecting tenement rates and taxes and took cognizance of the structure in the design of the subject road. Be that as it may, that is absolutely no grounds for demolition. This station is a legitimate business with all the necessary approvals to run its radio business. You can go through my other comments on subject matter on what a responsible government should do in this scenario to limit or address whatever safety concerns experienced. |
Oblongata: |
okomile:Which other modifications sir? Was the building plan not approved? |
Oblongata:Please can we be rational in our discourse? From the picture, how does this structure pose an accident threat? From the picture, the road is well tarred with two lanes on either side clearly demarcated. It is not located at a bend or on a slope and there is no pothole in front of the building. Again the road is not a 'face me I face you' road so pray do tell how this building is responsible for accidents at the junction? Except if the driver is a madman driving at breakneck speed or trying to overtake senselessly there is absolutely no reason why an accident should occur at that location. If the government were interested in curtailing road accidents around that junction, they could install speed bumps, install traffic lights and increase police supervision of that axis and not all this baseless victimisation. Therefore, accusations that the structure is a causative factor is clearly false and a mere subterfuge for some other ulterior motive. As a neutral, I'm beginning to believe that this plot is clearly politically motivated. |
justtoodark:Stfu..... Were they forced to join the police? Are you saying that armed policemen in uniform are proscribed from discharging their duties? Are they undercover officers? When they were the extorting people without impunity were they afraid then of identification? Were they not in uniform then? Nigerians should stop providing excuses for corruption please. |
macphilip:How much is it now? |
Sai Baba ![]() Ambode is working ![]() Anybody who asks for information on the finances of Lagos state is an IPOB member according to my Biafra brother deomelo ![]() Some days back we heard how the governments of Benue and Akwa Ibom were being investigated by EFCC with their accounts frozen. I wonder what will happen if they ever decide to investigate the dealings of the Lagos state government. Until then, we are yet to start fighting corruption. |
Do you also sell? If yes how much for your PS3 and PS4? |
famology:The only reported case of vote buying across party lines was in Ekiti. Did you hear same about Kogi where onions were being distributed? My problem with this ruling party is that in spite of claiming they are the dominant force, they are still unwilling to allow a level playing field at the elections to test their popularity and let the masses confirm or disprove their popularity by votes. In the North, even INEC officials are intimidated to look the other way whilst rigging is being done korokorooo even in the face of the security agencies. You saw what happened to that female corper who was mercilessly beaten for trying to conduct a free and fair election. Of course, I don't expect you to embrace the truth but the reality is that if you like lie from today till tomorrow Nigerians have seen that the so called change is a scam and we all will still have to survive in this mess. Everyday we keep hearing about the growth of our reserves but even to conduct election we are looking to borrow money. |
famology:Are you on this planet at all? Have you not been hearing all the stories of vote buying? Or has supporting APC blinded you to seeing and hearing news reports? |
deomelo:1 BILLION DOLLARS NOT NAIRA ON A PROJECT FOR 10YEARS WITH NOT EVEN 100METRES TO SHOW FOR IT!!!!!! DO YOU KNOW WHAT 1MILLION DOLLARS CAN DO TO TRANSFORM THE LIVES OF YOUR ENTIRE VILLAGE? THEN SOME SHAMELESS ZOMBIES CAN STILL COME OUT TO DEFEND THIS MASSIVE INJUSTICE TO THE LAGOS PEOPLE! BTW HAVE YOU STARTED USING THAT YOUR WORLD CLASS BUS STATION? HOW MUCH WAS SPENT ON THAT PROJECT THAT WAS LAUNCHED EVEN THOUGH IT WAS NOT COMPLETED ![]() MY BROTHER THIS TRAMADOL IS NOT YOUR FRIEND O... TRY AND EMBRACE THE TRUTH IF YOU GENUINELY CARE FOR THE LAGOS PEOPLE ![]() |
deomelo:Hahahaha my Biafra brother you are back! How market? You say a government that has spent over a billion dollars on a project since 2008 and is promising 3km will be ready by 2022 should not account for public funds spent to its own people? What brand of tramadol do you take? You need to send me the recipe so that we can both get high ![]() |
Tinlar:How did PDP frustrate a project that has gulped over a billion Dollars (not naira o!) in World Bank loans which Lagosians are being taxed to repay since 2008 and all can be promised for 2022 is phase 1 of the project alone. For your information phase 1 is just 3km long. So dear brother don't make this about party please. APC has administered Lagos for the last 19years and should account for what 1 billion dollars of Lagosians money has been used to deliver. |

Which of those elections was adjudged by observers to be free and fair? Now vote-buying (either via cash or onions in the case of Kogi) is the order of the day in spite of the so called security presence at the polling booths. Very sad indeed. |
adioolayi:Demolition is just plain stupid. At the extreme the building can be sealed off pending whatever permits or approvals are obtained. |
As far as I'm concerned, serving a notice of demolition is quite extreme. If fresh FM had contravened the building plans and was served notice to make the appropriate modifications and file a new plan, then they should be given time under careful supervision. To enforce compliance, they can start by imposing fines for contravention if written notices are not adhered to. At the extreme, the building can be sealed off pending obtaining the necessary permits which will of course be issued sequel to implementing the necessary modifications if of course it's nota guise to extort money from the radio station. To me it's the height of stupidity to serve demolition notices on existing businesses without exploring the economic impact of such decisions. Government should be involved in supporting the growth of businesses and not shutting them down when they are not even in the position to provide employment opportunities. |
YourImaginaryBF:Your head must be in the clouds to be counting a private sector investment as a government achievement. In fact you are lost. |
YourImaginaryBF:Na wa Bros. I sorry for you o. You no get single achievement to mention sotayyyyy you go carry Dangote refinery mention. Na una APC government dey fund the project? All the subsidy money wey Una say Una no dey pay, wetin Una don use dem for the existing refineries in the past 3yrs? O ma se ooooo |
YourImaginaryBF:Oga can you account for what exactly APC has done in the past 3 years and stop referring to the PDP? PDP was voted out for not performing. Can you provide evidence of what your government has done to boost our local refining capacity in the last 3 years? Where is the change? |
YourImaginaryBF:Are we still in the PDP administration? Get your head out of your arse and account for the past 3 years your government has been in power? Where are the functional refineries now that we have the so called change? We are still hearing 'will' and 'shall' |
YourImaginaryBF:Lie lie. Which one is supposed to be ready by 2019? Which of the modular refineries is currently at 30% completion? Which of the existing refineries has been refurbished after 3 years to even 50% capacity? Which one of the refineries? How much has been spent on these refineries in the last 3 years? What timeline has been set for their completion? I won't even bother to ask about the dangote refinery that this government seems to be relying on over and above our existing refineries. Now they are talking of expanding refineries? How are these projects going to be funded if public? If private, what timeline has been set for completion? People should stop playing with the intelligence of Nigerians please. |
How much? |
Jaideyone:I don't know why you feel you need to be antagonistic and plain rude to make a point. Speaking about issues, you clearly have a major issue with expressing yourself civilly without resorting to insults like an uncouth person. Yes you guys were digressing from the topic of the thread with you resorting as usual to your stock in trade insults on an inconsequential tangent which was why I intervened with facts to draw your attention back to the major bone of contention: The Lagos light rail project. If you can't comprehend that, then who then has the comprehension issues? |
