Both depends on the inverter to use.
The Following is based on Samsung 26J cut off of 2.75v per cell.

4s : using regular Satchet inverter of lvd 10.5v is not good for it as each cell will be below safe 2.75v. charging is a problem at times except with solar

3s : Regular inverter ranges btw 9 to 10.5v ( esp 1000w and below) Lvd. Easy to charge.

Best is to get editable inverters to enjoy both.

I usually do 3s any day anytime. I made use of 2 inverters. When one stops at 10.5v the other drags it down to 9v which I hardly get to.
Inverter LVD is not a challenge in this case.

I was actually wondering why MTN Lumos battery uses a 4s13p configuration

I have been thinking about 4s vs 3s battery configuration of same capacity.

Which is better of to use considering back up.

I kukuma no come here hustle clients though I sometimes get clients (a few big ones) BUT when in here, na to respond to questions, and sometimes share ideas. Had everyOne relied only on what's existing, I doubt there ever would have been any new inventions.

See Oga @adrusa , even God no fit follow me argue certain things. Recently had a bank manager who paid me a visit - him wan give us contract (just so you know, I'm software developer, and a server administrator full time. Solar and few other things na hobbyist pet project) BUT insisted on knowing where I reside.

As Oga come, I took him to my home office space and the man was surprised at the many irregular things He saw including the fact my Laptop PC is hung on the wall.

I even have an external Tv antenna inside the room. When he asked why said antenna ain't outdoors, I told him I modified it to act as booster and for some reasons, preferred it staying inside.

On top table, Oga only saw external keyboard and mouse + my 32-inch LED Tv-Monitor (still working then). He didn't ask me where the PC was but was looking for it until I showed him by point at what's on the wall. it's then He saw the blinking light.

wetin come give me extra work na when I tell am say all these including the Fan and the big 32-inch Tv-Monitor all run off a single 12-volts 150AH battery which is very close by. oga refused to believe. Equally told him it can run for 3-straight days without reCharging. Have done the test (when the chargeController was moved elsewhere) so I'm sure. And mind you, the battery gan sef na Tokunbo I buy am.

What further WOWed him was when I informed him the setUp doesn't require an inverter and Oga said na lie so gave him a brief class. All the while, i wasn't trying to sell him anything.
A lot of us spend time trying to sell to people we end up loosing them. me na freeStyle. I'm happy being all chatty and a lot of times, they get really interested. rarely do I do thins just to make a sale.

I have a much larger solar array hence whenever I upgrade, I mostly relegate the weak but strong batteries elsewhere. Before me go sell battery as condem, e no go fit hold charge for 5-minutes. Even at that, I fit still use am as stepDown.

At end of the day, the big man use style calm down. few weeks later, na me dey him place dey do something similar for him. As for the actual reason he paid me a visit, that one is currently being discussed as Oga first jump do Solar.

Guess what, they already have professional Solar installers who handled his house project. Even said He's got contact of those that handles those at his place of work (bank) YET na me him give work. Guess why, it's because I was able to offer something much different.

A lot of una mostly have single source of income hence always and often under pressure to make a sale. Let me ignore the fact a lot of una no even cool down learn work finish.

Imagine 2 landLords - 1 has got other sources of inCome while the other one's only source of inCome is the building. Una experience go really vary

On a serious note, is there a major difference between buck converter and pwm?

Both are pulse( pwm- pulse width modulation) in nature. They both push in current for some seconds and stop. The process continues again....
Buck converter, reduces voltage and convert to current. So this might have inductors to achieve the current conversion

Pwm cc uses pwm to cut/regulate voltage

Pwm Na as e come e dey give.

ksmart027:
If i get you correctly, with the buck converter, can i still use a single high watt panel? My major concern is space as i will prefer a single high watt panel to multiple low ones. Thanks boss.
Yes you can buy the buck max input must be higher than the solar panel VOC.

This way you can set a preset Voltage and possibly amps then channel to you cc then your cc does the monitoring.....

So buck+ pwm cc= local man mppt undecided.
Technology MarketRe: Diy Lithium Ion Like-minds by Obnoxious2001(m): 6:38am On Sep 28, 2024
Queed:
It depends on the VOC of the panel.

The usual xl4016 based 300W ( 8A ) buck converter can take up to 38V max out of the box or up to 45V max ( with some slight modifications on the buck converter).
Most online spec will indicate up to 60V out of the box, but when you investigate the surrounding electronic built on the converter, you'll quickly realize that it's false.

The usual 20A buck (can't recall the IC name) is more efficient as it incorporate FETs for both it forward and flyback cycle as against a FET and a diode used in the xl4016. It can take up to 42V out of the box, and these things are not built equal.. you'll most likely never get beyond 15A max from the best builds.

Combining a buck and pwm controller generally gives better result than using only a pwm controller (if set up properly). But not close to being an MPPT as the perfect load point will always change and no means of compensating for the drift.

So to answer your question, yes you can, but watch out for the VOC.

Regards.

Unfortunately, i have not buy the panels yet. My battery is 3s 12v, i guess i will stick with 150w or 180w panels. Thanks sir.
Buy a buck converter and use with your cc.
You can buy that 300w buck converter max amps is 9A then use with pwm cc.

You will technically have a local man mppt undecided

Omo you just dey start .....
I don't think it will be easy to learn considering that you need to survive long enough to your payday.

So a better approach is to use your service year to learn what ever you need to learn
(Try to ensure you are not posted to teach or some government office).

For the skill you can consider networking and security (access control, CCTV etc), embedded systems development, solar installation/repair s, PLC (this are high paying tech skill that require hardware,a little bit coding and many shege undecided)

If you want the soft side of life consider Accounting and auditing (you have to rely on employment to get big money), coding , video editing

The physical effort involved is my major issue. My landlord is a UK-based guy so he is not on the ground to see the realities. He does not want any wack structure, and I cannot say I want to install a carport in another person's house. I just saw that they are looking at increasing the band A tariff, that scares me, I won't lie. 120k monthly on electricity without air con is not fun at all.
Is the building very close to the fence?
You can use the fence to erect the structure.

Hello Snr Men and Women, I have a dilemma. I have a small 1.5KWh System and a 1kva hybrid SMS 12v inverter rated for a max pv of 600w. However, I do not have any solar panels because my landlord has refused to grant permission. My question is, has anyone tried placing panels on the ground and what was the outcome of the experience?

I was looking at going for foldable solar panels from EcoFlow, but looking at the cost comparison, a 550w Jinko panel costs far less than 160w Ecoflow.

Thank you!
Placing the panels on the floor or ontop a vehicle can be an effective way out.
(But every morning you go dey lift panels up and down grin)

However,Have you considered erecting a detachable platform within the compound

Scope of work:
Installation of solar PV back up system for mathematics department admin office

Material :
2700wp PV
2 x tubular battery 220A
80A controller

This particular project was sponsored by students ( it was assigned as a project topic to the students) and so to avoid stories that matters the HOD of the dept reached out to solar guy (he was an alumni).

The structure we mounted it on is a 1 storey building, but the building height was exceptionally high.

The project featured emeritus the great, solar guy and me.

After our activities at ugheli we spent our weekend installing just the panels (we had installed the internals a day before)...

The job was challenging because the roofing was iron ( we couldn't install rails freely on the roof so we improvised).

Which of these states can I get a comfortable flat with 500k and is also good for business.
1. Delta (Asaba)
2. Oyo (Ibadan)
3. Kaduna
4. Abia (Aba)
Delta State is a low budget Lagos State but you see when it comes to housing all I have to say is Omo (you might probably have to stay at the outskirt to get affordable housing)

But that aside I think is a very strategic state and I have been wondering why people/organisation ain't thinking of the state.
