Good evening bosses, how much should I budget for solar to charge just laptop, phones and power bank.
If you are in Lagos I can link you up to get an already made product.
Search jtlsolar on Google.

If you are interested send me a mail.

Plus an extension for charging about 4 phones

So what do you think is the best idea for me

I have a Cyberpower 1000 UPS. I need someone around Berger who can help me confirm if it is in a good working state as I want to use it as an inverter with solar panels.

Anyone here who can?
I can assist you, but fortunately am not in Lagos now.

I can help you remotely if you wish to DIY

Am assuming you have a total load of 300w,
To achieve 6hrs backup,. You will need 2 x 200ah battery

Please what solar setup would you recommend to power
10 led bulbs. Although I would put on only 6 at most
1 32 inches tv
2 ceiling fans.

I want something that can last for atleast 6 hours from 8pm. During the day i can use only d tv if there’s sun.
How many watts bulb

As an individual builder locally?
Yes.
As a matter of fact there is a pure sine wave inverter module that sells for as low as 5000
Read about egs002 module.

If you don't intend to program you can just purchase this module and develop your board...

Some satchet PSW inverter has this module in them

He cannot build a pure sine wave inverter.
Who are those condemning satchet Inverter?
There are several nice ones.
Pure sine wave can be built and they are been built in Nigeria.

By the way if you are trying to cut cost, you can get an old UPS and convert it to an inverter system.

Start reading from page 1 of this thread every information is there.

The installer I met said he can't do with satchet inverter rather he will build the inverter to be sure of what he is supplying.
He also said he prefers the Canadian used panel to new ones.
Is this ok?
Do you have any objections on his methods?

Mind you it's fairly used not Canadian used.
If he can build an inverter, it's good, I got a call yesterday on made in Nigeria inverters, if the are worth it or meet certain standard..

Well they do, it depends on the builder.

I feel foreign inverters should be highly taxed so that local content / manufacturers can thrive.

Am not in Lagos right now if not, I can help you facilitate it.

So the best thing to do is sell off the damage battery, then add money and get a new one.

Beside the ah of the battery and the battery chemistry determine how much you would get paid..

No crime using used panels if the price difference is very obvious.Brand new 425w jinko is around 135k, if a used 300w of any brand cost 30k it is fair. Fund is the culprit.

Thanks boss, finally, is there anything wrong with used panel? The boss above advised against it, so I want to know your take, thanks.
Our opinions and experiences differ..
If you noticed, I advised getting fairly used it you plan getting "Nigeria " new solar panel the reason Is their standards are not monitored.

Besides their is a solar panel assembly plant in lekki free trade zone.

You can buy one from them and compare.

But if you love New ones go for the high quality
Jinko, yingli, Ja solar, Canadian solar, and so many within that rank...

This is still my personal opinion

Thanks for the response, i tend to power a 71w led tv, 2 10w bulbs and a DC fan. So i intend to go for a used Canadian panel 300w×2, 60a mppt charge control, a sarchet inverter and 200ah battery all 12v, is these setup okay? Thanks.
Yes it's okay for the setup

Good evening boss, which tubular battery will you recommend, or in general which battery will you recommend, i want to start buying the items gradually. I want to start with the inverter, solar panel, charger control then battery. Thanks.
If you plan to keep the batteries indoor, dry cell/gel is your best bet (Quanta, Shoto etc, full river etc)
If the opposite, you can go for tubular, Starplus, Gsr etc

Inverter is dependent on what you want to power. Controller is dependent on solar panels

Good evening sir,
Please what mode of the solar panel would you recommend; the one that will last. Like the manufacturer/types to buy?
If you decided to buy new panel, buy tier 1 panels like jinko, yingli, Canadian solar etc.
They are quite expensive but the quality is assured.

Aside from this ones, I personally prefer to buy fairly used( putting cost into consideration)

This is my opinion

Last week I created a thread talking about how my japa plans have been crushed due to the increase in dollar.

Many adviced me to invest in dollar, this was the advice they gave me months ago but I did follow through because I wasn't sure.
My last thread hit front page and 90% of the comments were advising me to invest in dollars, one even quoted that in the past 10 years, the dollar haven't fallen but it increases every year.

One even called me a weak minded person and I am scared to take risks.
After everything I thought to myself, since so many people felt this dollar will keep on rising, maybe I should invest afterall life is all about risks.

Well guess what, dollar have decreased, I invested 3M in buying dollars and now in today exchange rate. I have 2.6M now and I either cash out now or hope it will increase.

Right now, I am very angry.
Those giving me advice should come and contribute the 400k for me o

Another thing, do you think the dollar will increase or should I just cut my loses.
I am so tired 😫
When people say invest in USD, they will not tell you about DCA (dollar cost averaging)..

What you faced is as a result of you went with all your full chest.
By applying dca you buy at different rates which on the long run gives you edge to easily cover losses or dips....

Sorry you had to experience it,
You are in already continue but apply DCA
besides getting USD is the easiest way to hedge against inflation aside From commodities

Shalom

His 1.5kva system is 12v....no way it can run the pump. @12v..he wud need about 55amps...assuming the pump can even accept 12v.

@ fan, was told its something going bad in the fan.will get worse with time till the fan fails.
his going to use a ac to dc converter to achieve the 48v not running direct on the battery (this way he uses his normal ac output from the inverter to pump the water)

Yes, thats the specs am talking about.
Only thing i dont understand is 600w and 1.5hp tag.
1.5hp is about 1kw...hence the 600w tag is confusing.the flowrate is healthy, though i expected much more.. 1m³/h is about 16liters per minute..that is about 1000liters per hour
this is the power the pump will consume while working.
using 48v dc as input, you will need 13a to run this pump.....
you can always twerk it to get good result

so technically, his 1.5kva system can run the pump

aside that, who has experience with solar ceiling fan moving the other direction when is about to start
until you push in the right direction before its able to rotate properly

thats maybe an inelegant way of solving a problem, throwing high hp at an issue. recall his major constraint was power- using his inverter to pump water. a 1.5hp sumo would require minimum of 4kw inverter to power it. unless its a dc sumo...then he would require minimum 2kw of panels to have a chance at it working ok.

any sumo has a ''head' as you rightly pointed out, this is written on the spec sheet of any decent submersible pump...and tells you the depth and flowrate of the pump. so a pump with a head of 200ft will work ok, be it 0.2hp or 10hp.....the 2nd consideration now becomes the flowrate, a 10hp might have a 100liter/minute flowrate while a 0.2hp pump might have a 20liter/minute flowrate.............so you then calculate your water tank capacity and usage to arrive at the hp that is optimal for your use case.

the inverter sumo i talked about has a head of 210ft/70meters and flowrate of 35liters/minute...and its being deployed for a single house with 2000liter overhead tank. works ok for that use case. deploying a 1.5hp pump there may deliver water faster, but would be useless as they just have a 1.5kva inverter which cant power it and totally offgrid
1.5hp is the power of the dc pumping machine.
this pumps comes in various design ranging from 48v upto 120v dc (the amperage vary).
a 1.5hp might 48v 10a
i attached a photo

How do I know the Depth am using 1.5hp pump
you need to know the depth of your borehole( its referred to as well head depth on the pump) then compare it

Pls do you have idea abt the cost of 0.33hp and will it be efficient enough to pump for 3 tank of 1500 liters each?
buy high hp.
around 1.5hp should fill those tanks within 3hrs....
another thing you need to take note of is the depth of the bore hole undecided undecided

most pumps has a depth dey cant pump beyond
