AdannayaBella: Adaobi is for first daughters, it means "first daughter of the compound/family". Other Ada names like Adaora, Adaeze, Adamma, Adanna/Adannaya, Adaku are usually given to any daughter, doesn't matter whether she is first or last.

any igbo man who names his second or third daughter ada names should be taken to his village market square and flog 36 strokes of the cain,abeg you guys should stop putting igbo culture upside down

FOUR people were feared killed on Monday
when members of the Movement for the
Actualisation of the Sovereign State of
Biafra clashed with a joint team of security
men in Onitsha, Anambra State.
But while MASSOB claimed that the clash
was an attack on its members because of
the decision of the group to withdraw their
support for the All Progressives Grand
Alliance, the police declined comments on
the incident. The Anambra State Police
Public Relations Officer, Mr. Emeka
Chukwuemeka, said he had not been
officially briefed.
Director of Information of MASSOB, Mr.
Uchenna Madu, who said he was speaking
on behalf of the leader of MASSOB, Chief
Ralph Uwazuruike, said the incident
occurred in the early hours of the day and
that the security team, made up of army,
police and State Security Services personnel,
stormed the MASSOB headquarters along
Onitsha-Owerri Road and allegedly opened
fire on the members.
He said that at the end of the attack, four
persons were felled while about 80 persons
were injured. He said those injured during
the incident were denied medical attention
because they could not produce police
medical permit.
Madu also said that about 18 vehicles
belonging to MASSOB members and traders
at the Mgbuka-Obosi, Old Motor Spare Parts
Obosi, and 137 motorcycles belonging to
MASSOB members were burnt and cash sum
of N920, 000 was taken by the security
agents.
The MASSOB spokesman also said 37
traders in the Old Motor Spare Parts,
Mgbuka, sustained bullet wounds and were
rushed to various hospitals for medical
attention.
He alleged that the clampdown on their
members was masterminded by the state
government which he accused of not being
comfortable with members of the group’s
resolve to announce their preferred
candidate ahead of Saturday governorship
election.
Madu said, “This devilish act of cowardice
meted on MASSOB was not unconnected
with our refusal to allow our name to be
used by some desperate politicians who
wanted to score cheap political goal, using
our platform.
“We had issued a statement distancing
ourselves from supporting APGA and its
candidate ahead of the governorship
election in the state. We are very quite
aware that the stand we took did not go
down well with some highly placed persons
in the state, hence, the attack was to
disorganise us and browbeat us to
submission.
“We hold Peter Obi responsible for the
killings. This reminds us about the 2006
shoot-on-sight order by Governor Peter Obi
who massacred about 2,000 MASSOB
members.
“We shall arrest him and pay him back in
his own coin in our own way immediately
he steps down as the governor because his
recent action of killing MASSOB members
will heavily affect APGA chances of winning
this election.”
The Senior Special Assistant to Obi on Media
and Publicity, Mr. Valentine Obienyem, who
said he was not yet aware of the incident,
wondered why MASSOB was attributing it
to the governor.
“Why are they calling the name of the
governor?” he asked.

Obi made a surprise and unscheduled
visit to Holy Ghost Adoration Ministries
with his entourage, says the proprietor

Gov. Obi had in his broadcast claimed to
have been invited by the Reverend father,
but the spiritually gifted clergy confided
in a close friend and worshipper in the
church that what Obi is broadcasting to
the state in not correct, as he did not
invite him, but could not have asked him
to leave once he had come.

angry, based on the false claim by the
governor in a state-wide broadcast,
which gives the impression that our
church is being mixed up with politics.’

written invitation to him ( Gov Obi) to
attend our vigil on November 1, 2013 is

Gov Obi had attended a night vigil in the
Adoration Centre at 2.00am last Saturday
along with Candidate of APGA in
November 16 governorship polls, Mr Wilie
Obiano, National Chairman of APGA, Chief
Victor Umeh,Director General of Willie
Obiano Campaign Organisation, Chief Joe-
Martins Uzodike, also the Commissioner
for Information,Mr Oke Udeh erstwhile
Deputy Governor who betrayed Dr Chris
Ngige in office as a governor, and one
Ifeanyi Ibezi, a native of Abatete, among
others.
There attempt to speak to the crowd and
convince them to vote for Obiano failed,
as the people initially protested the mix-
up of worship with politics. However,
when Obi insisted on having his way, the
crowd burst into a song, rendering
praises to Senator Dr Chris Ngige, Obi’s
political rival and candidate of the All
Progressive Congress (APC), a
development which angered Obi.

for Obi to speak at all to the people, who
became uncontrollable again when the
governor asked them to vote for Obiano
who was beside him in the uniformed
delegation.
Obiano has since denied attending the

broadcast to the state carefully omitted
the name of the faltering candidate of
Obi’s political party.
Controversy has ensued over the actual
time of departure of the governor from
the venue, and how it relates to the
stampede which eventually recorded a
death casualty of 61 persons as the
governor claims to have left at
3.00am ,while eye-witnesses say the
governor and his entourage were in Uke
ill the adoration closed at 5.20 am.

Ngige didn’t attack me, says Catholic priest

Four days after an orderly attached to All
Progressives Congress (APC) candidate in the
November 16 election in Anambra State, Chris
Ngige, allegedly assaulted a Catholic priest,
Rev. Fr. Evaristus Ezeokwonna, the
controversy raised by the action has refused
to die down.
A group in the church, Catholic Youth
Awareness Group, has demanded a written
and published apology from Ngige.
But the cleric told reporters that Ngige did not
slap him, attributing the allegation to those he
termed “desperate politicians”.
Ngige’s orderly was accused of assaulting
Rev. Fr. Ezeokwonna, Parish Priest of St. John’s
Catholic Church, Ezinifite, in Aguata local
council area and Chaplain of Man of Order
(MOD), while he was carrying out the duty
assigned to him during the burial of the
mother of the Catholic Bishop of Awka, Most
Rev. Dr. Paulinus Ezeokafor, last Thursday.
The incident was said to have occurred at
Nanka in Orumba North local council.
In a release signed by Chairman, Catholic
Youth Awareness Group, Benjamin Nnoli, on
Monday, made available to journalists, the
group said Ngige should render a “written
apology to the entire Catholic Church, and
should be copied to the Bishop, the Priest
involved and published in two national dailies
and the Diocesan newspaper, Fides”.
But, Ezekwonna said he neither had any
encounter with Ngige, nor did he (Ngige) or
any of his security aides confront him at any
time during the funeral at Nanka town
Orumba North Council Area.
He frowned at what he called campaign of
calumny and display of desperation by some
politicians, who he said, would do anything
thing possible to win election including
tarnishing the image of fellow brethren in the
Christian fate.
Also, in a release, Director, Media and Publicity
in the Ngige Campaign Organisation, Charles
Amilo, stressed that with Anambra State
gubernatorial elections coming very close,
people no longer have respect, and the
organisation expects more of such.
Amilo said the allegation is the work of
fiction.
Meanwhile, the Anambra Catholic Community
has expressed dismay over what it called the
use of the church as a weapon for political
blackmail and name-dropping warning
politicians to leave the Catholic church alone.
According to Sir, Livinus Maduka who spoke
to reporters on Monday on behalf of a body
known as Catholic Faithful for Change (CFC),
“The story of a senator attacking a priest of
the Catholic Church is yet another display of
desperation and rascality on the part of these
politicians who must exploit every slightest
avenue to marlin the image of their
opponents.
“Its is on record that Ngige is a Knight of St.
John in the Catholic Church and has
contributed immensely to the spread of the
gospel though sponsoring of priestly
ordinations, donations to parishes and
Diocese projects in the Catholic Church. He has
always stake the balance of assisting both the
Anglican and Pentecostal community hence
one wonders how he could go out of his way
to attack a priest”
He maintained that Ngige has security details
and protocol officers who has the duty of
ensuring his safety hence the story of him
attacking a priest is baseless and cannot be
substantiated in any form or manner.
