Jobs/Vacancies / Re: ‘60% Of Nigerian Graduates Are Unemployed’ by occam(m): 4:14pm On Nov 15, 2012
Orikinla: Majority of them are unemployed, because they are too Lazy to read and think.

Here is an opportunity for unemployed graduates on https://www.nairaland.com/1059699/first-nollywood-outdoor-cinema-workshop.

You are the lazy bum to think so lowly of the unemployed.

People want real jobs in engineering, technology, nursing, teaching etc. Jobs that uplifts individuals while contributing to the development of our nation.

The opportunity you mentioned here is garbage and a scam. Luring people to fake seminars and asking them to part with N25,000.

Has it occurred to you that tv is all about entertainment and drawing in viewers?

dragon's den is just another form of entertainment just like so much stuff thats on tv - its objective is not meant to educate or inform but to titillate you, to evoke a certain type of reaction from you, its also aimed at conditioning you in a very subtle way, therefore to base any constructive thought on a tv programme in my opinion is very naive. There is nothing genuine about this programme or the so called investors - at the end of the day the programme's objective is to draw in as many viewers as possible in order to increase the volume of viewers thereby justifying further productions and of course money for the producers - how do you know whether the applicants are not speakign from prepared scripts? how do you know whether everything that the dragons say is scripted ? I find it really strange that the investors were so interested in her family background because they never usually are with the other applicants, perhaps this was just another way to make this particular episode more interesting. we now know that most of the so called reality shows are scripted and set up so why would this one be any different, tv is one of the most powerful mediums used in the western world to condition and control the mode of thinking of western populations, it is so powerful that some people can not distinguish between real life and tv and very often you find many people here in the west acting out what they see on tv due to the relentless brainwashing that they are fed day in and day out.

by the way Levi Roots' reggae reggae sauce is poison - i bought a few bottles in tescos and its absolutely disgusting so i have no idea who is actually buying that crap - which begs the question who in their right mind would invest in a product that bad.

You're quite correct; it's all entertainment.

Personally, I find it condescending and patronizing. Couple of rich white folks helping a talented, young, black lady grow her business. Gimme a break! Life just not like that for black folks in any white dominated country. And telling her personal story seems so fake and scripted.

Why should any smart business person invest without getting answers to critical questions about revenue generation, plans on getting customers, overhead costs, potential profit etc. Instead the focus is on her personal story.

Sourcing for INTERNS through a website? Really! How many businesses will fork out 100 pounds per month just to get access to interns? Even if she gets 100 customers (a highly optimistic number), that's only 10,000 pounds a month. How is this biz going to pay for itself? Clever girl. I think she'll just take the 50k and invest in some other biz.

Hopefully, the publicity generated on dragons den may help attract visitors to the site in the short term only. Generating and sustaining traffic to a online business is very EXPENSIVE. Building the web tools and platforms is only the beginning.

The whole things looks like a sham designed to attract young black audience for Dragon's den. Period.

This Trump's latest stunt is to stroke the racial fire. He's trying to make the usual racial point that Obama is dumb and only got to Harvard because of affirmative action. He also made a statement couple of weeks back that Obama should stop monkeying with the numbers

Sarah Palin same thing yesterday with her "shuck & jive" comment yesterday

John Sunnunu telling Obama to "learn how to be an American"

The right wing racial machine is now in full swing.

Sadly, this attempt to play the racial card is working. This may be the deepest racial split in any presidential election.

proO1: The tyranny of the majority is in full swing, and it is disgraceful to say the least. It's now so bad that the obtuse mods had to bar my regular handle from commenting on this topic, because they assumed that my opinion wouldn't sheepishly align with that of the majority!

JP Phillips made very valid postulations on this matter, and I'm not surprised that most posters are baying for his blood - just like the Aluu mob they hypocritically loathe - simply because he dares to hold a different view.

The fact remains that the police are playing to the gallery in this matter, as I suspected they would. The overly sentimental and illogical public outcry from the outset had already compromised the investigations and guranteed that there could only be ONE outcome - an outcome that appeals to the biased sensibilities of the public.

Most people already blindly and stubbornly presumed these 'fine boys' were innocent from the beginning, without bothering to ask/care about anything else. The current IGP is a man who prides himself as a media sweetheart; a man who is a master in the art of ingratiating himself with the public, and swimming with the tide of public opinion. As such, it would tarnish his public image if he 'allows' the investigation reveal anything that even remotely negates what the tyrannical majority already believe. If the IGP finds out that these boys were cultists, and that they in fact went with a gun to extort/threaten a fellow student, he would BURY that evidence simply because that is not what the public wants to hear. He is condemned to feed the public with only what they prefer to hear.

Now, how on earth is the said Coxson Lerebori a "mastermind" of anything? Have the police proved that he PLANNED the boys' murder by luring them to his house at midnight and colluding with the local mob to kill all four of them? If he simply raised the JUSTIFIED alarm that some cultists were subjecting him to violence in his own house, and then local vigilantes intervened to rescue him from his tormentors, how on earth does that make him a mastermind of anything? The world is truly a terrible place, considering how biased and deliberately blind-to-reason most people can be!

You are entitled to your own view; that's your right. The FACT of this case is simple: A barbaric crowd gathered to kill and burn to death four human beings. Not plank of woods; but human beings. Regardless of the mitigating circumstances, this is UNACCEPTABLE human behavior. There is no rationale for this and we must crush this in our society.

Thankfully, the video provided enough evidence to convict the wicked and despicable individuals that took part.

Total bullish ignorance, once the boy can prove his life was threatened that night, perhaps present neighbors as witnesses, his lawyer will argue on self defense,
any sane judge will discharge him ASAP.

the only problem i foresee is the parents of the boys bribing the judge to thwart justice. Nigeria justice system is that porous.

You don't get it. do you? This is the outrage most of us feel: That in modern day Nigeria, anybody can still be LYNCHED AND BURNT to death in broad day light. This is a level of barbarism that is truly alien to any civilized society. Also, the inevitable break down of law and order resulting from this barbaric behavior, means people are no longer safe in the streets.

The guilt or innocence of those boys is irrelevant. Period

That Policemen were actually present when this heinous crime was been carried out is really alarming.

Huh !!!
Florida alone reps 10% (27 or 29 ) of the total electoral votes needed and can make a big difference if the race gets too close.
. . . . and saying that the Florida and Virginia outcome doesn't matter,
Ohio, Wisconsin, and Nevada = 34
Florida and Virginia = 42

Even though the former puts him across the finish line, I'm sure he will rather have the latter scenario. Can't take nothing for granted.

Right now, the 4 states I mentioned are easier path to the finish line than Florida & Virginia.

Though, with a re-energized republican base, Romney may still win. More options have now opened up for him (Romney) since the debate.

For Obama, the path to victory is simple: Ohio, Wisconsin and either Nevada OR Iowa = 271

So if he losses Florida or Virginia it doesn't matter.

Mafious: First of all CNN is Pro-Democrat, it belongs to Ted Turner always has been always will be.

The real question is how come Ryan won when Biden did a far better job and was far more articulate and
precise?

Biden gave a speech a while ago and after the speech he forgot his mic was not turned up he goes to Mr Obama
and says you know we'll do this our F**king way in the end. (He lied to people).

Obama had a press Conference with Medviedev the Russian President, he to forgot his mic was still on after
the whole show the leans over and says to his Russian counterpart "Tell Valdimair that in my second term I'd
have more flexibility". (He to lied to people)

When Biden was asked about it latter he said "Sometimes words roll out of the mouth not the way you intended"

Ryan killed him my saying "we all know that Sometimes words roll out of the mouth of Mr Biden not the way he intendeds"
That was the only time the audience laughed.

Lesson Ryan discredited Biden so no matter what he said it did not count.
Clarity of Ideas: Biden
Mud slinging: Ryan.

Not true. Ted Turner sold CNN to Time Warner couple of years ago. CNN reporting has been leaning towards more conservative. Yesterday was a perfect example. 67% on the CNN live blog showed Biden, won while their post debate polls gave it to Ryan by 48%. And immediately the debate ended, talking heads on CNN declared it a draw. Go figure.

In any case, all these debates are sideshows and doesn't matter. White Americans are less predisposed to vote Obama anyway. Most believe Romney looks "presidential" and they are comfortable with that. So why did they vote Obama in 2008? Anger against Bush. That's all

I predict a razor thin Romney win. Why? Firewall blue states like Michigan, Pennsylvania and perhaps Wisconsin will tip to Romney

Nigerians abroad send at least $10 billion in remittances to their loved ones at home. This amount makes Nigeria the 6th highest destination for remittances according to the World Bank. That also makes Nigeria the top remittance destination on the African continent.

WHY ARE REMITTANCES IMPORTANT?
Many immigrants abroad send a portion of their earnings to family members in their home country. In some cases, these remittances are the only income that those families have to live on. In a country like Nigeria with anywhere between 8 to 15 million Nigerians living abroad, remittances are a way to provide financial assistance. This is crucial on a personal level because of Nigeria's high unemployment rate. And, it is reported that the money sent to Nigeria through unconventional means is actually 4 times the amount reported

http://www.nigeriancuriosity.com/2009/11/nigerias-10-bn-in-remittances.html

True talk. Money used to help with education or health bills. And in some cases to help fund "owabes". (Cousins calling to INFORM you about their engagement, traditional and white wedding as if you are the father of the bride).

Having said that, I am irritated by some folks saying it isn't tithe. What does that matter? Whether the EFCC call it tithe or sensationalise it, does that justify it? The man gave stolen money. That is an abomination to God. God is not hungry to be looking for money by all means. It is an insult to God. If it is established, the money should be returned. Whether it is Catholic or Redeemed or Christ embassy makes no difference. That is irrelevant. The mere idea of men trying to bribe God is just ridiculous. Get this abomination out of God's house!

Imagine some even saying at least it is for a good cause. Which good cause? Saul tried it in the bible and Samuel stripped him of his throne at God's command. "To obey is better than sacrifice and to hearken than the fat of rams". Stop paying or giving or donating your corrupt money to God! God doesn't need it. You are insulting God and the name of Jesus! Stop it now!

Get that abomination out of God's house and repent.

Mark 8
36 For what shall it profit a man, if he shall gain the whole world, and lose his own soul? 37 Or what shall a man give in exchange for his soul?

Psalm 50
5 “Bring my faithful people to me—
those who made a covenant with me by giving sacrifices.” 6 Then let the heavens proclaim his justice,
for God himself will be the judge.
Interlude 7 “O my people, listen as I speak.
Here are my charges against you, O Israel:
I am God, your God! 8 I have no complaint about your sacrifices
or the burnt offerings you constantly offer. 9 But I do not need the bulls from your barns
or the goats from your pens. 10 For all the animals of the forest are mine,
and I own the cattle on a thousand hills. 11 I know every bird on the mountains,
and all the animals of the field are mine. 12 If I were hungry, I would not tell you,
for all the world is mine and everything in it. 13 Do I eat the meat of bulls?
Do I drink the blood of goats? 14 Make thankfulness your sacrifice to God,
and keep the vows you made to the Most High. 15 Then call on me when you are in trouble,
and I will rescue you,
and you will give me glory.” 16 But God says to the wicked:
“Why bother reciting my decrees
and pretending to obey my covenant? 17 For you refuse my discipline
and treat my words like trash. 18 When you see thieves, you approve of them,
and you spend your time with adulterers. 19 Your mouth is filled with wickedness,
and your tongue is full of lies. 20 You sit around and slander your brother—
your own mother’s son. 21 While you did all this, I remained silent,
and you thought I didn’t care.
But now I will rebuke you,
listing all my charges against you. 22 Repent, all of you who forget me,
or I will tear you apart,
and no one will help you. 23 But giving thanks is a sacrifice that truly honors me.
If you keep to my path,
I will reveal to you the salvation of God.”

You failed to mention that Churches should stop collecting this kind of money. Churches solicit for donation to different causes. And that's ok. Nigerian churches turn a blind eye knowing and do not question the source of wealth. How can a Bank executive make a personal donation of N45 million and people simply accept. Churches are therefore equally complicit in this sinful act by not rejecting this donation.

This is a common practice in Nigeria and we are only hearing about this because the guy is under EFCC investigation and he left a paper trail (i.e. the cheque)

Speak for yourself bro. The idea then was for the military to go back to the barracks and the man had just won a free and fair election in all parts of the country: north, south, east, west. Thats the summary of the clamour. The man was a symbol for a just cause. Asides all of that, Yoruba people knew Abiola's antecedents and its a gross exaggeration that he was seen as a messiah. After all, he was very comfy with the military elite to the extent there were insinuations he was sponsoring coups. Perhaps you're also too young to know that he was an NPN financier and NPN was an unpopular party in the old West.

The antecedent of MKO is the crux of the issue. Some of us are unable to reconcile the fact a man with such antecedent became a symbol of a just cause. Sadly, the 1993 election was a choice between an uninspiring, though Knowledgeable Tofa vs a corrupt and charismatic Abiola. MKO's association with the military and as a member of the previous civilian ruling govt(the corrupt NPN) should have elicited greater scrutiny at the time. But it seems Nigerians were willing to forget just so we have a civilian govt at all cost.

Can you blame these folks for shopping in London? Nigeria can never be a top manufacturer of household goods & clothing; let's forget that. The opportunity is gone. That ship has sailed. Mexicans, Chinese, Indians and some other Asian Countries have become highly efficient at producing these goods at competitive prices.

For instance a lot of goods in Shoprite, except food are mostly imported.

So what should we focus on? We still have some competitive advantage in agriculture, food processing and agro allied activities if we get our act together.

Producing quality goods require solid Supply chain management, access to finance, well trained workforce, solid infrastructure etc Having a abundance of labour is not an advantage if few are well trained to use modern and complex manufacturing equipment
