baqina: No country in d world is a paradise, just like you have kids in your neighborhood regretting they were born in Nigeria, we also have kids of other nationals regretting where God created them, this is pure case of self esteem not of origin. We have Nigerians that are today the best in there chosen careers.
Gone are d days when passport was d most lucrative department at Nigeria Immigration Service but now it is d CERPAC, you will be shocked when you see the amount of other nationals turning Nigerians especially the Americans and the British. Really? I will be very shocked indeed No country is a paradise. agreed. Fact is a lot of Nigerian kids are not inspired by Nigeria. Go to your neighborhood and talk to them |

baqina: It depends on how you look at it.
In terms of corruption,Nigeria can not be compared to the likes of India, Thailand etc
Armed robbery and insecurity, we have countries like South Africa topping the charts. So many nigerians have been killed in the US and UK by robbers and teenage rascals.
Education, we might not have d best education systems but the products of our institutions are among the best in the world with Nigerians being d most educated group in UK and USA. The highest I paid as undergraduate was #15,000 as school fees and with that I just used it to gain admission to 2 universities in the Uk, I was even thinking they would ask mi to start from Pre masters level.
Health, some people think our hospital is a shame but the president of Ghana died after being discharged from American hospital, Stella Obasanjo died in Spanish hospital,A crown prince of Saudi Arabia recently died in German hospital, Michael Jackson died of overdose prescribed by an American doctor etc.
In America and Uk, we have citizens of this countries feeding from the trash cans and some homeless and jobless.I have never seen or heard of anybody combining 2 or 3 jobs to survive in Nigeria.
For those crying foul, Nigeria owe us nothing, it is we Nigerians dt owe her something and gratitude to God for making us Nigerians. For those that care to know, a lot of foreigners are turning Nigerians daily.
I love my country and am proud to be a Nigerian. You are living in cloud cuckoo land. wake up man we're talking of Nigeria here. Remember the GIANT of Africa. Take a straw poll amongst kids in your neighborhood and find out how many of them are grateful to God that they are born in Naija |

Lie - How many Nigerians have you met on their sick bed? How many Americans have you met on their sick bed? How many Nigerians have you asked if they love their country Nigeria?
I have never in my life seen a Nigerian flag in the private residence of any Nigerian. According to the grapevine, Nigerians do not feel they owe anything to their country and/or government, no wonder they exhibit a persistent disconnect between them and the symbols of their country, Nigeria.
How many Nigerian homes have you been to? Lie. you seem like an person that just relish being a contrarian. We all know what Nigeria is: it's everyman for himself And BTW the Nigerian flag is mainly displayed in govt offices; never seen it in people's homes |

Barely appointed one month but each time this guy opens his mouth you expect an a-bomb to drop. No one takes him serious and perception is that he's only there to CHOP.
Not once has he articulated nor explained Jonathan's policy on Boko Harem, Power supply, the economy etc. Instead he rants and attacks phantom government opposition. Yet some applaud him and say he's very intelligent. Why not continue is medical practice if he's so smart and intelligent?

ubandire: You are simply a globe trotting blind fool, what do you think you are blabbing about?it is the first time this achievement has been recorded n this country, including when your paymasters whoever they are where in power. For many of us true Nigerians the achievement so far and ones yet to be recorded needs celebrating, in the sense that power has arguably been the greatest problem of this country,we've seen regimes come and go without achieving half of what has been done by this administration in a little over a year in office,it's very laudable our prayer should rather be that they should continue with the good works already started, this administration understands power is a necessity that's why it's striving to make it available to Nigerians.Given the distractions most of you unpatriotic wicked souls have given this administration,I clearly understand your disappointment that the administration is clearly on track.Shame on you detractors and leave us to enjoy our previously elusive adequate power supply and more democracy dividends that will come with this govt.
Kudos to GEJ and his team for demonstrating their purposeful, selfless and dynamic leadership.Nigerians are solidly behind your wonderful plans for this country. Jonathan should tell us in plain language that by 2013/14, X number of households across X number of towns will have 24/7 electricity. That's all. Trotting in out numbers on megawatts generated/to be generated or projects ongoing, completed yada yada is all noise. We're all patriots of this country some of us just don't want to be blindfolded by soothing words. We still remember Jonathan's "Hit the ground running" speech 3 yrs age and are awaiting the results |

The minister only "assured" us days of power outage is over. Fine. Can we take this assurance to the bank? No. That we are seeing pockets of improvement does not mean we shouldn't be skeptical. This govt must be held to it's promise and ensure they deliver. Let's wait and see one year from today. I'll believe it, when I see it. Jubilating over miniscule improvement is not only premature, it indicates very low expectation. We've accepted mediocre performance from our leaders; very sad and pathetic mindset. Providing us updates on megawatt generated is absolutely useless. 5,0000 MW, 20,000 MW etc is just a metric for Engineers to bother about. The only thing most Nigerians want to know is WHEN WE GO GET LIGHT? If only 1 MW delivers power who cares! |

dedeike: Criticism is cheap especially when the critic is clueless. Doyin's admonition is crystal clear. If you feel that government is not doing anything, you adduce reasons why and proffrer alternative solutions. That way people will take you more serious. That is the foundation upon which credible opposition is built.
You can't just call your self an opposition leader and you repeat the same pedestrian lines that an arm chair critic in a local bar will do.
El Rufai should tell us how better he could tackle the Boko haram challenge. He should be able to say GEJ was wrong in appointing the NSA OR the CHIEF OF DEFENCE STAFF or the new IG of Police. El Rufai should be able to tell us that, if we had the misfortune of having him as our president in these trying times, he would have sacked all the policemen and recruit new ones so that Boko Haram will stop. El Rufai should tell us whether he will mount roadblocks on every street in Nigeria so as to prevent suicide bombers from killing themselves and other Nigerians on the process. EL Rufai should come out and tell us that he wouldn't have charged Senator Ali Nfume to court or he will just shoot him directly. El Rufai should tell us whether the setting up of JTF is wrong or not. El Rufai should tell us that he will not be resident in Aso rock while the people are dying hence he will relocate to the streets of Maidugri and govern Nigeria from there. El rufai should tell us that he will send drones to destroy the people of Maidugri because Boko Haram is in their midst. Arm chair criticism never brings power. It may be popular in the interim but it has a way of leaving the person hollow at the long run. Leaders are always criticized. Jonathan should show results or at least tell us his plan on making Nigeria safer. Its Rutai''s right to talk trash and my option to listen or not. Jonathan on the other hand is paid to solve the problem of Boko Harem menace. Better advice OKupe to sit tight inside his Kernel until he has something to bark about. banki: Am sure you must have noticed i dont use words like "stupid" to describe people on this forum i honestly think you should tow in that line its wrong for you and you cohorts to always resort to insults when you have nothing to say.
its not news that the treasury has been depleted and the country is on life support! you can tell the marines that its a lie but we know that it got so bad that civil servants were owed thier salaries, corpers were also owed salaries under the guise of a never ending biometric compilation of data! its not news anymore that the government increased the price of fuel by over 100% intialy in January of the year not putting in consideration the people,if you earn 30,000 a month and have 3 children i wonder how you would cope without stealing in Nigeria. simply because with the increase in the price of petrol there was an astronomical rise in the price of coomodities and services nation wide! and the solution was to provide 1200 buses in the middle of the protests, well i doubt if anyone has seen the "subsidy" buses outside Abuja!. You can decieve other people all you want and pretend that all is well you and the people that advise the president if I were doyin okupe, Abati, Maku and the reset of the spin doctors I would address the issues raised and not the personalities.
Theres still a disconnect between the government and the people as admitted by Ngozi Okono Iweala, the people dont trust the government! i know that one of the factors that helped this government in the last elections was the fact that they had control of the media its a very expensive venture and i still wonder how and where they got the funds to do so may be you could tell us!This government is backed by the people that ruined Nigeria and i stand to be corrected if people like Alamesigha, Tony Anenih, Bode George, Bamangar Tukur, Gbenga Daniel, Abdulahi Adamu etc are your campaign coordinators i wonder whose interest you have at heart! People like you are enjoying the country the way it is, you are quick to label other people as enemies forgeting that Adamu Chiroma, Lawal Keita and Atiku Abubakar that promised fire and brimestone are all PDP members, Azazi confirmed that! but you see this is a government that had to wait for over a year to reluctantly sack an incompetent inspector general of police. Who was in charge of the umuahia Aba zone when kidnappers took over the state, and even kiddnapped little kids instead of your commander in chief to relive him off his duties GEJ promoted him to be IGP. The list of clueless decisions are plenty and the reality on ground is that the true real nigerians are not happy.
I want peace and wish the president well, hope he gets better advisers and developes a character of a true leader and not people like you that would sit down and tell him lies There are couple of paid hacks on this thread spinning the news for Jonathan; they won't read any sensible comment Jonathan is the President not Rufai or Bakare. Okupe should just tell us what is boss is doing to make Nigeria safer. Okupe is only attacking Rufai to distract Nigerians from asking more questions on securtiy. It's all a smokescreen. They can spin and attack people all they like, still GEJ most do something about Boko Harem. Unfortunately, he has no clue what to do hence the reason he's hired more spin doctors. |

But why settle permanently abroad? That place can never be home for those born in Nigeria and there is just some honour you can't get abraod as an immigrant. I dunno, but folks should go abroad to make themselves better and come back and improve the country. It's all about personal choices whether to stay or not. Physically living in Nigeria is not the only way we can help improve the country. Nigerians living abroad are involved in projects - personal, voluntary organisation, business etc to contribute to development. With the speed of digital information and traveling these days communication with Nigeria is now easier. The American Israeli for instance are great champion for Israel aspirations. They've influenced greatly political dsicourse in the U.S. to favour Israel. Besides, they raise billions of dollars each year to keep Israel competitive against their Arab neighours. You may not agree with their politics but they've helped their bothers at home. As Nigerians, we need to stop this constant sniping of "them against us". This is very common amongst we Yorubas |

And the irony is that these same people castigating Nigerians living abroad the ones that over to give birth. Talk of nauseating hypocrisy! Life may not be not rosy all the time but far better than living in Nigeria. FACT. Besides we're not North Koreans that are restricted from traveling abroad. If people make that choice let them live with the consequences. Nigerians bashing Nigerians living abroad are insecure, envious and very wicked. They are not advising you to ensure you progress in life they only want you to remain perpetually destitute and continue to prostate and worship them (just they "rankadede" them" . Stay away from people with this kind of mindset. I had an uncle that advised my father that traveling abroad is not a great option. Why? Politics › Re: GEJ Has Done Nothing To Warrant His Impeachment - Akpabio by occam(m): 6:21pm On Aug 09, 2012 |
Yaya6: Governor of Akwa Ibom State, Dr. Godswill Akpabio yesterday said President Goodluck Jonathan has not committed any impeachable offence.
Besides, the governor who is from the South South region assured that the planned impeachment exercise process of the President by the House of Representatives lawmakers would be an exercise in futility.
Akpabio also criticized those asking the President to resign over the insecurity challenges facing the country, saying Jonathan is capable enough to address the Boko Haram treat.
He noted that as long as the Peoples Democratic Party [PDP] enjoyed the majority seats at the lower chamber, it would be difficult to remove the President.
It will be called that the lower chambers members have given the September to fully implement the 2012 budget or face impeachment.
The governor spoke to reporters at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, Abuja while returning from an Investment Summit in the United States on Tuesday night.
According to him, “the President has not committed any impeachable offence. “I am not a member of the National Assembly but I can tell you that the PDP, which I belong, has majority in the National Assembly and the party representatives has no intention to support any plan or intention to impeach Mr. President. Any right thinking politician will know that there is nothing in the offing that will warrant the impeachment plot. There is no reality in that rumour.”
Defending the President on the issue of insecurity in the country, the governor described the Boko Haram members as a faceless set of people, who indulged in mischief under the guise of religion.
He said the President has the capacity to address the crisis.
According to him, the group would soon surrender their arms because as Nigerians, they also want to witness peace.
He said: “Who are the members of the Boko Haram? When we see Boko Haram members, we will discuss with them because as far as I am concerned, we still have a lot of people masquerading under Boko Haram to send a lot of mischief text messages, information, among others. Mr. President has the apparatus of government to know truly who is a Boko Haram member and who is not.
“ I am sure that he is taking the right security steps to address their feelings and I am very sure that very soon, Boko Haram will lay down their arms because they are Nigerians and they would like to see peace.”
Akpabio said Nigerians believe in secularity, saying the issue of Islamisation of the country is being sponsored by those backing the dreaded Islamic group
He said: “The rumour about Islamisation of Nigeria is being orchestrated by people who are hiding under Boko Haram to cause crisis. It happened in the Niger Delta when we had militants and all sorts of people claiming to be Boyloaf, Tompolo and others.
“It was only after the amnesty was declared that these kingpins under militancy came around and people saw them. They were people who were being used; some people were paying money to these people who called themselves militant warlords in the Niger Delta. They were not and clearly speaking, a lot of 419 and a lot of youths are trying to take advantage of the situation and trying to be Boko Haram.
“So, there is no truth about that; I just want to allay your fears. Don’t allow people to deceive you that they want to Islamise Nigeria. No! Nigerians believe in their secularity and the strength of this country is in our plurality and I am very happy and proud to be a Nigerian. Once the grievances of the Boko Haram sect are addressed, I am sure they will also be very happy to lay down their arms for the betterment of this country. Don’t listen to that rumour, that rumour is just baseless. “
http://dailypost.com.ng/2012/08/09/jonathan-done-nothing-warrant-impeachment-governor-akpabio/ According to Akpabio "the President has the capacity to address the crisis"... the group would soon surrender their arms because as Nigerians, they also want to witness peace." What kind of gibberish is this? So the president has an ace up his sleeve, don't worry Boko Harem will surrender because they want peace. This is reassurance they give to outside investors. Who will believe crap like this? aaah these people self. |

Beaf: Okupe blasts El-Rufai, Tunde Bakare over calls for Jonathan resignation By Victor Iluyemi August 8, 2012 22:36:51pm GMT
Abuja (WorldStage Newsonline)-- The newly appointed Senior Special Assistant (SSA) to the President on Public Affairs, Dr. Doyin Okupe, on Wednesday discribed the former FCT Minister, Mallam Nasir El-Rufai as a derailed or deranged politician.
He also did not spear the Vice Presidential candidate of the Congress for Progressive Change (CPC) in the 2011 election, Pastor Tunde Bakare who he advised to stop hiding behind the pulpit.
El-Rufai recently called for the resignation of President Goodluck Jonathan if he (the President) could not solve the ongoing security challenges in the country.
But the SSA said no responsible citizen will call on the President to quit in the face of insurgency at a time when all hands should be on deck to defeat the common enemies.
He argued that it is a well known fact that issue of insurgency is a very difficult national problem. “It is not anything peculiar to Nigeria. No responsible citizen of any of those countries affected by insurgency before call on their Presidents to resign,” he said.
He also warned against the manipulation of the present security situation in the country by politicians for selfish purposes.
The SSA also faulted the former Minister's criticism of the president's reliance on citizens for information on terrorist activities.
He said, "El-Rufai is my younger brother. I have so much respect for him. But politics is more or less derailing or deranging him.
"Everybody knows that insurgency is a very difficult national problem. It is not anything peculiar to Nigeria. No responsible citizen of any of those countries affected by insurgency before call on their Presidents to resign.
"When he talks about intelligence, there is no better security in any country than by the people of the country. It is communal security that will help government and security agencies to root out insurgence. If people shielded insurgents, they make the works of security agencies more difficult. "Can President Goodluck Jonathan be in Borno and everywhere at the same time? I believe that people just want to play politics. All what you are hearing is just the manipulation of the present situation to suit their political purposes.
"I am sure that my brother, El-Rufai is hopeful to be a presidential candidate of one of the parties very soon. What I will expect him to do with the level of intellect, intelligence and the resource that has been given to his own personal education is to come out with some reasonable plans, some suggestions, and not just criticising government for criticising sake.
"If El-Rufai was President of Nigeria, what will he do? Why don’t he say that? Or is he keeping that until when he becomes the President by which time the whole country is wiped off? When tragedy befalls a country, responsible men and women of that country forget partisanship and rally round their nation and they try their best to help existing government to tackle that. Once that is over, they go back to politics.
"This is not time for politics. Every man or woman who politicises this issue of Boko haram, people should disregard and discard whatever information they hear from them. They are not serious-minded people."
On pastor Bakare, he said " Pastor Bakare also falls into that category. It is shameful. You cannot convert the pulpit to a podium.
"If you want to be a politician, please come out.”
"Pastor Bakare came into politics a few years ago and he became a vice presidential candidate of a major political party, some of us have been in politics for 30 years and we did not even become a governor and we did not say the country must come down, that is unfair. It is unacceptable."
He also accused Pastor Bakare of insincerity and obviously playing to the gallery, insisting that "Boko Haram is something that evolved suddenly in the early part of the life span of this administration. Internal insurgency is not peculiar to Nigeria, it has happened in Oman, Sri lanka, Vietnam, Great Britain, Philippines, Kenya and Iraq.
"I wish to advice that if Pastor Bakare will be fair, he should come out properly to the political Arena and stop using God's Pulpit to throw stones at Gods elect, as no leader will emerge in any praying nation like Nigeria without the blessing of God", Okupe said
http://www.worldstagegroup.com/worldstagenew/index.php?active=news&newscid=5622&catid=8 Hogwash! Yes, we don't expect GEJ to be everywhere, we only need to know what he's doing about the Boko Harem menace. We don't know what he's doing and have no confidence he's up to the task. Okupe's job is to explain government policy and tell Nigerians what our President is doing to make the country safer. Attacking Rufai and Bakare is only a sideshow. An intelligent and smart PR man will wave this guys away and tell us exactly measures put in place by his boss to crush Boko Harem. Of course, a Neanderthal like Okupe does not understand this. He's still playing the old ways style hack job of simply drowning contrary opinions. El-Rufai may be a dubious character, but calling on the President to resign is not a big deal. In fact that's what any opposition should say. The tragedy is that a lot of people on this thread, believe this this relic from the past (Okupe)is very good job with this kind of outburst. An attack dog indeed. who let the dog out? GEJ had better muzzle him quickly before he does more damage. |

I have told you amebo Nigerians to stop minding other people's darn business. When the good Lord created the institution known as marraige, He did not need to consult Nigerians. When God created marraige, it was not meant for you people to force people into it. There is no happiness in a forced relationship. There are many women who did marry but are alone now because the average life expectancy of a Nigerian is 52 years. Many Nigerian women don't even get to enjoy their husbands because most Nigerian men don't live long.
Stop acting as if marraige is the solver of all problems. Nigerian men like you make so much noise about marraige and then once you are married you become heartless, insensitive, lazy, abusive husbands to these ladies. Go to the family section and see some 9 months pregnant married Nigerian woman complaining bitterly about how her husband does not help her around the house and how her husband has forsaken her emotional needs as a woman.
As far as I am concerned, unless a Nigerian lady chooses to marry an oyibo man or a man from another culture where women are respected, she misses absolutely nothing not being married to a Nigerin bred male. The way you Nigerian bred males treat your women is pathetic. You people throw the woman out of her matrimonial home if she cannot conceive. Many of you marry a second wife if the first wife keeps birthing female babies. When you die, your wicked family members come and take everything you and your wife ever worked for throwing your surving wife and children into a state of sudden abject poverty.
Many Nigerian bred males like you are chuvinists and Nigerian women are gradually becoming wise and realizing that it is more of a curse rather than a blessing marrying the average Nigerian bred male. This is why Nigerin bred men like you result to emotional blackmail with your stupid annonymous letter to Nigerian ladies. Why don't you also write an annonymous letter to the many married Nigerian big men who carry ashawos and university girls all over the place and then come back and infect their wives with all sorts of STDs/STIs? Why don't you write a letter to all the Nigerian bred males who are married yet .ra.pe and .sexuall.y abuse toddlers and underage young teenagers living under their roofs or in their neighborhoods?
Stop being a bloody hypocrite and go and focus on your family and marraige and stop telling people how to live their lives. Typical obnoxious chuvinist Nigerian! This thread is for Nigerians only, why don't you stay away. Which country are you from? Did Nigerian guys steal your lunch? Why are you so bitter? |

Kelvinj: Letter To Nigerian Ladies Dear ladies, Firstly, if you are still struggling to find a husband at an old age it's simply because you are looking for a perfect man. Something might be wrong with you. Now, check your propaganda
Magazine tells you that 'All men are liars, cheats and useless, but let’s be honest here, which is more likely? Is it that there’s something wrong with about 70million African men OR there is something wrong with one African Woman? You Ladies certainly will not get into a blissful matrimony if u re always hanging out with your so call girlfriends every night at a beer palour or bar waiting for a guy to buy you a drink & take you home afterwards. Drinking yourself to stupor every Friday & Saturday night does not exactly make you look like a marriage material. You want a man?...invest in a good wardrobe & dress responsibly not like a mad person.
When a man comes to you, smile & be polite, even if he does not fit your mental image of ur kind of man. Ladies, stop coming to relationship with a chip on your shoulder. If you believe all men are bad & all men are Dogs, then it will become a self fulfilling prophesy. No man is perfect! You say you can't marry a blue collar guy like a mechanic or carpenter, Now if a carpenter was good enough to marry Mary mother of the Jesus Christ, why isn't one good enough for you?
Do not focus on where a man is now, but look and see where he has the potentials to be. Wat’s the point of being beaten to a pulp every night by some rich, good looking and non caring man? Do u want a future where you will sit in a traffic in your BMW X6, GUCCI sunglasses covering your swollen eyes and u look out of d window and see a happy couple in a keke napep holding hands and laughing like newly wedded couple even after 12 years of marriage.
Please don’t fake pregnancy or get pregnant to trap him, e no dey work again joor! Ur perfect man is out there, believe, work ƞ pray and you will get him. why don't they smile. Most Naija babes will frown or turn away when you jam on the road. And when you greet them they just mumble and still frown their face. JUST SMILE & RELAX YOUR FACIAL MUSCLES This is so peculiar to Naija ladies. I've observed this a lot. Just be polite, smile and let your faces be radiant when someone greets you. Whites, Asians and other Black ladies smile back. Even Ghanians are very polite. Seems our Naija babes think they're too much or what. |

kushe: Who read today's front page article of the guardian? It reads Nigerians bemoan rate of unemployment, seek action. I fall into the category of comfortable semi returnees but then make we no lie, what is the size of nigeria's privileged class. I once told someone to add all the plum jobs in the IOCs,telecomms, banking and allied financial services,Fast moving consumer goods sectors, the breweries and maybe international charities like the DFIDs and USAIDs of this world. Are those jobs, two million ? I seriously doubt it,yet 3.2 million people have been unleashed on the labour Market in 2010/2011.
Let me break it down for you,Nigeria's revenue is declining, foolishness and corruption is on the increase, our population is ballooning, infrastructure is decaying. Graduates cannot find work, hence the multiplier effect of their engagement is non existent meaning existing businesses will suffer the impact of lower anticipated revenues and to stay afloat, more jobs will have to be slashed and hence further shrinking of the economy.Brace up Nigeria, with these fools in government,Nigeria is simply to hell what a shower is before a dip in the pool.
Nowhere is immune to the meltdown but Nigeria's response is a classic calamity.Wonder why ritual killings and kidnappings are on the rise and for all my people, sitting pretty in 1004, Lekki , Ikoyi and all the posh estates scattered around the metropolis, how do you intend to enjoy your privileged status with so many hungry mouths around. We can live in gated communities, but we have house helps, nannies, cooks ,drivers, dispatch riders and cleaners at work. We can run,but we cant hide from this monster we have allowed the Nigerian government to create. Bolded is very crucial for business planning. Even though Nigerian population is rising it does not translate to more opportunity to sell more stuff = more revenue. Well noted |

Career › Re: Why Crucify Dangote For Providing Jobs For Unemployed Graduates. by occam(m): 5:29am On Aug 04, 2012 |
lastpage: I dont blame Dangote for TWO REASONS:
1.) The man himself is just a "rich illiterate"! he does not know nor appreciate the value of education. Like it is said, "Any fool can have money". I dont mind people being rich (like Bill Gates or Oprah Winfrey) when they use their brain and do it legitimately but we all know that in Nigeria, being rich is akin to being the Devil himself.
Ask him (Dangote) why each time any of his "blood sucking Trucks" swerves into and kills some people, the drivers simply disappear, according to instructions? Rumor has it that he uses the victims blood/soul for you know what! Again, if we live in a sane society where laws are upheld, the likes of Dangote would rot in prison for charges ranging from price fixing, breach of competition rules, murder/manslaughter, public endangerment, e.t.c. Is this not the same man that continually makes people homeless by "fixing the price" of Cement? but hey, this is Nigeria now, anything goes, right?
2.) Well, if not that we have "cursed leaders" in government and policy positions, how can some Eediots not be thanking Dangote for providing jobs for millions of UN-employed Youths? One of the primary responsibilities of a national Government and a President indeed, is to provide employment opportunities for its citizens. This is one issue that will make or mar the Obama administration, for example.
This does not stop or hinder self-employment and they are not mutually exclusive. But when Government is so misguided like we have, and the citizens so confused and brain-washed like we are, we live in a state of stupor, wondering endlessly through day-to-day and thanking God that at least we have seen the next day-light! I guess next, we will thank Dangote for putting up and advert requiring PhD holders to come and apply to be his Mai-Gaurd, afterall, HE IS PROVIDING JOBS FOR MILLIONS OF UN-EMPLOYED YOUTHS!
Dont blame Dangote that much, bl;ame the system that made people like him feed fat on our national wealth, just for his own pockets!
Any "rich thief" can turn the masses into slaves and still be seen a s being benevolent...yes now!
BTW: if all you wanted and dreamt of becoming is a Truck driver and you went to a UNIVERSITY for all these years, then you need to have your head properly examined! Because you dont have a job NOW doesnot mean you should dehumanize yourself and reduce your "self-worth" to NOTHING?
Go and look at Truck drivers in Europe and America, they are at best, Primary Six level of education but they are damn good at driving their Trucks! You dont need to be a Graduate to Drive a truck, ...when will Nigerians grow out of this slave mentality? Who would do the Graduate jobs like "Research", if all Graduates now do is drive Trucks? Jeezuz Christ!! Aliko Dangote studied business at Cairo University so I’m very curious why you call him a “rich illiterate”. Most of your points are riddled with sentiment that does not jive with reality. People have a choice to apply for the job or not. Your personal dislike for Dangote is irrelevant to the issue. Your degree does not define who you are; rather it’s a tool to help achieve your dreams. Don’t let it become a burden and cloud your judgment. A graduate is only a subject matter expert who is expected to apply critical thinking and analytical skills to solving problems. Period! We really don’t understand this. In Nigeria, graduates are seen as special breeds that can only work in offices and should not “get their hands dirty” This mentality is killing this nation and we need to get rid of it right now. Your comment reflects the type of mindset that is holding Nigeria back. Driving a truck in Nigeria is risky and not a great career but do you have any jobs for our unemployed graduates? |
Jobs/Vacancies › Re: Dangote Truck Drivers With HND/BSc: No Respect For Nigerian Graduates by occam(m): 4:59pm On Aug 03, 2012 |
mekasonuk: He does not need to make the job specific for Bsc/HND holders because it is a non-skilled job and as such implies demeaning the status of our educational system. All he needs to do is to advertise the job; if a graduate or even a Phd holder now picks interest in the job, no problem with that. It is now a question of the individual's choice. I still blame the government for allowing Dangote to be running a monopoly biz in the country. It's not a slight on our educational system; it's about demand and supply. Few jobs available in Nigeria means too many unemployed people roaming the street. Employers can then cherry pick who they want; that's market forces at play. Driving in fact requires some level of literacy, though having a graduate degree is not required. That said, there are no jobs for the thousands of graduate from our university. Can you fault Dangote for wanting to pick the best available people to work for him? If unemployment was just 5% few graduate will apply for this job. Too many graduates in Business Administration, Accounting, Mass Communication, Law, Political Science etc that want to work in offices. This is the problem of our dysfunctional educational system. |
Akingbola is guilty! Agreed! Inside trading of shares/stock is a big crime in the western world. The british have every right to persecute him if has done some trading in the UK..i even love the british judiciary! I would love it if they persecute all these corrupt nigerians, our legal system in nigeria is a joke! The ibori case proved it..but to be honest, everybody in the banking sector knows Sanusi has something personal for Akingbola and Cecilia Ibru..Sanusi is not a saint! He is a criminal like Akingbola too..one day, these thieves will pay for their deeds
Does it matter if Sanusi is not a Saint? Fact is Akingbola killed that Bank and resulted in job losses. Period. For those keeping scores, he was found guilty of:
The court found under cross examination that Mr. Erastus Akingbola told obvious lies that he did not know that the bank was buying its own shares
Dr. Akingbola had borrowed a whooping sum of N9.3 billion to purchase a large quantity of the bank’s shares for himself.
Dr. Erastus Akingbola misappropriated N16 billion which was paid to Tropics Companies, a business owned by his family to repay debts owed by the companies personally guaranteed by Dr. Akingbola.
Dr. Akingbola was found to have misappropriated another £8.5million which was paid to his English solicitors to complete the purchase of luxury properties in London in his name.
Is this not enough to throw him in the gallows forever regardless of his tribe? |

RIM is very innovative company that just caught carried away and failed to act when iphone arrived. Too much success and they felt untouchable.
BB was a very cool phone till 3yrs ago. Anyone still recall Obama using his BB to text while his daughter played football. In fact the image of Obama using BB was great for this company. Their Marketing team just lost the plot somewhere |

Then all they could have done was for Nigeria to apply to have the dude sent back to Nigeria, but not trying him in London . . Although, better he was tried in London Sha, cos justice might be served, so i guess it is time to send all the past leader to London cos most are . . . . [/quote
Our justice system is broken. If I recall this guy was charged in Court, but the Judge dismissed the case because EFCC fumbled; lack of evidence or bad presentation. Not sure about details
The only thing is can they recover the N162 billion ($1 billion) from him? No be Naija |
