just calm down, can't you comment without swearing? mental laziness at its peak indeed! As far as i know, this is a public forum and i'm entitled to my own opinion regardless of what anyone thinks. Read my other posts, i'm not standing in for those motorcyclists whose livelihood "would" be threatened but those of us that would be affected if the government does not provide alternative means of transportation before motorcycle is banned; especially in areas where people solely depend on bikes. Who says motorcycle shouldn't be banned? It's not my headache if you think otherwise! And until today, i never knew Lagos is now the only state in the SW!
I don't agree with the "wait till we have alternative" approach. Govt may start dragging its feet to implement solutions if there'e no urgency. Also, the next Governor may play the populist card and decide not to ban Okada saying it will cause too much suffering for people. No ban it immediately and start developing a comprehensive transport system. Enough of Okada on our streets. Lagos should aspire to world class statues and not compete with cities in Benin, Togo or Mali. Lagsoisns deserve better |
Dipwater: I am not against banning okada but banning without the provision of alternative is the worstFor how long must we rely on Okada? Immediate ban is the best approach. Solutions are there and the ban may hasten implementation. No more excuses. We don't need dangerous bike riders on our streets anymore. Period |
afam4eva: I think they should have proffered an alternative to okadas. We only know how to condemn but never profer solutions. The Lagos state govt is already implementing some of the solutions; its just taking time First thing first: Get rid of Okada. Lagosians will be better off without these two-wheel menace on the street. After all, before the dawn of Okada Lagosians moved freely from the Mainland to Island to Ikeja. |
5 yrs is too long. One year is enough time to rid our cities of Okada. They should be confined to the villages and rural areas. Okada was never the solution to transportation challenges for Lagos. Previous government should have acted quickly to ban it before it became a way of life. Kudos to Fashola for getting rid of this menace. He should go one step further and ban it completely in all roads in Lagos. As for Okada riders, tough luck. They should find something else to do. Riding a bike recklessly all day is not a sustainable livelihood. In any policy decisions there are net gainers and losers. Lagosians are the winners in this Okada ban. I bet you in 3 yrs time we'll all breathe a sigh of relieve that these dangerous riders are off our street. |
It's only effective as the website owner wants it to be. If you put "Contact Me" on your site and don't reply potential customers' emails or call back, then it's useless. In fact, customer may believe you're not a serious business if you don't get back. Always reply to "Contact me" requests within a reasonable time frame (I'll say 24 hrs). You never know, the person asking to speak with you may turn out to be the customer that helps your business grow. |
Seriously must these pastors travel to Jakarta and other foreign land to preach the word of God? There are millions of souls in Nigeria to be saved. They should focus on helping the destitute and the poor in NIgeria first. Besides these countries also have local pastors |
Orikinla: Majority of them are unemployed, because they are too Lazy to read and think. You are the lazy bum to think so lowly of the unemployed. People want real jobs in engineering, technology, nursing, teaching etc. Jobs that uplifts individuals while contributing to the development of our nation. The opportunity you mentioned here is garbage and a scam. Luring people to fake seminars and asking them to part with N25,000. |
manny4life: Wall street NEVER EVER like Obama, you don't blame themWSJ is a Republican chop shop. and this proves it |
cap28: Has it occurred to you that tv is all about entertainment and drawing in viewers? You're quite correct; it's all entertainment. Personally, I find it condescending and patronizing. Couple of rich white folks helping a talented, young, black lady grow her business. Gimme a break! Life just not like that for black folks in any white dominated country. And telling her personal story seems so fake and scripted. Why should any smart business person invest without getting answers to critical questions about revenue generation, plans on getting customers, overhead costs, potential profit etc. Instead the focus is on her personal story. Sourcing for INTERNS through a website? Really! How many businesses will fork out 100 pounds per month just to get access to interns? Even if she gets 100 customers (a highly optimistic number), that's only 10,000 pounds a month. How is this biz going to pay for itself? Clever girl. I think she'll just take the 50k and invest in some other biz. Hopefully, the publicity generated on dragons den may help attract visitors to the site in the short term only. Generating and sustaining traffic to a online business is very EXPENSIVE. Building the web tools and platforms is only the beginning. The whole things looks like a sham designed to attract young black audience for Dragon's den. Period. |
This Trump's latest stunt is to stroke the racial fire. He's trying to make the usual racial point that Obama is dumb and only got to Harvard because of affirmative action. He also made a statement couple of weeks back that Obama should stop monkeying with the numbers Sarah Palin same thing yesterday with her "shuck & jive" comment yesterday John Sunnunu telling Obama to "learn how to be an American" The right wing racial machine is now in full swing. Sadly, this attempt to play the racial card is working. This may be the deepest racial split in any presidential election. |
mr jangola: Yeye nigerians wetin, concern una w obama vs romney, how does dat affect d price of garium sulphate. Or make fuel available in kaduna. Aproko nairalanders.More engaging & interesting. Better that reading stuff like: just vote umbrera, this election na do or die, ballot boxes stolen at NAHCO shed, PDP thugs cause mayhem at Oshodi |
semid4lyfe: I hate to say this but it seems Obama will be a one-term President2 weeks ago, I also thought Romney was heading for victory; not anymore. I think Romney may win the popular vote but not electoral college. Obama just needs these states Ohio, Wisconsin, Nevada or Iowa and its game over. Right now, according to polls, Obama has a solid or slim lead in these states. Unseating an incumbent is never an easy task. Obama under performed in his first term, but I'll still give him a C+. This seems to be the overwhelming sentiment: better the devil I know than the angel I don't know |
See their wretched, hungry faces |
proO1: The tyranny of the majority is in full swing, and it is disgraceful to say the least. It's now so bad that the obtuse mods had to bar my regular handle from commenting on this topic, because they assumed that my opinion wouldn't sheepishly align with that of the majority! You are entitled to your own view; that's your right. The FACT of this case is simple: A barbaric crowd gathered to kill and burn to death four human beings. Not plank of woods; but human beings. Regardless of the mitigating circumstances, this is UNACCEPTABLE human behavior. There is no rationale for this and we must crush this in our society. Thankfully, the video provided enough evidence to convict the wicked and despicable individuals that took part. |
jp philips: Total bullish ignorance, once the boy can prove his life was threatened that night, perhaps present neighbors as witnesses, his lawyer will argue on self defense,You don't get it. do you? This is the outrage most of us feel: That in modern day Nigeria, anybody can still be LYNCHED AND BURNT to death in broad day light. This is a level of barbarism that is truly alien to any civilized society. Also, the inevitable break down of law and order resulting from this barbaric behavior, means people are no longer safe in the streets. The guilt or innocence of those boys is irrelevant. Period That Policemen were actually present when this heinous crime was been carried out is really alarming. |
The more I learn about this tragedy I get so mad Let see: Four innocent boys lynched to death but armed police men couldn't save them because they were chased away with sticks and stones. And the IGP can say this with a straight face? Incredible! And one of the suspect is a woman Cynthia Chinwo wow! |
Spending time in Florida, Ohio or Penn. is never a waste of time for any of the candidates, they both know these are the battle ground states with the largest chunks of electoral votes. ![]() Huh !!! Florida alone reps 10% (27 or 29 ) of the total electoral votes needed and can make a big difference if the race gets too close. . . . . and saying that the Florida and Virginia outcome doesn't matter, Ohio, Wisconsin, and Nevada = 34 Florida and Virginia = 42 Even though the former puts him across the finish line, I'm sure he will rather have the latter scenario. Can't take nothing for granted.
Right now, the 4 states I mentioned are easier path to the finish line than Florida & Virginia. Though, with a re-energized republican base, Romney may still win. More options have now opened up for him (Romney) since the debate. |
OzReal: Excuse my ignorance, but why is Nevada so important? I'm not sure, but I thought Nevada has about 5 electoral votes; so why is it more important than Florida that has about 20-something. Please explain this to me because I sincerely don't know why.For Obama, the path to victory is simple: Ohio, Wisconsin and either Nevada OR Iowa = 271 So if he losses Florida or Virginia it doesn't matter. |
Freiburger: Pennsylvania will tip to Romney? have you been following the opinion polls at all?Latest polls in Penn & Michigan are within margin of error; though leaning Obama. Personally, I think these 2 states can still go either way. Florida, Colorado, Virginia are going with Romney. So Obama must win Nevada & of course Ohio |
Mafious: First of all CNN is Pro-Democrat, it belongs to Ted Turner always has been always will be.Not true. Ted Turner sold CNN to Time Warner couple of years ago. CNN reporting has been leaning towards more conservative. Yesterday was a perfect example. 67% on the CNN live blog showed Biden, won while their post debate polls gave it to Ryan by 48%. And immediately the debate ended, talking heads on CNN declared it a draw. Go figure. In any case, all these debates are sideshows and doesn't matter. White Americans are less predisposed to vote Obama anyway. Most believe Romney looks "presidential" and they are comfortable with that. So why did they vote Obama in 2008? Anger against Bush. That's all I predict a razor thin Romney win. Why? Firewall blue states like Michigan, Pennsylvania and perhaps Wisconsin will tip to Romney |
otokx: There are always two sides to a story, people are saying villagers this and villagers that, look at the stories closely. There's only one side to this story: A barbaric mob tortured and burnt four defenseless boys. Never rationalize evil. This was an evil act |
This was a horrific crime against four defenseless boys. The perpetrators must be brought to justice IMMEDIATELY. The community elder who gave the order must be arrested NOW. No decent society will allow this kind of criminality to stand. UNIPORT Students must rise up now to seek justice. Send a strong delegation of your Student Union leaders to meet the Justice and Education ministers. Parents of these boys must demand for justice. We simply can't let this stand! It's A copy of that video must be sent to the Rivers state governor and Justice Minister. If you're in Rivers state, send the video to media outlets so more people can get a sense of the barbaric torture inflicted on these boys Anybody rationalizing this crime by saying these boys are cultist must bury their heads in shame. They don't deserve the horrific ending to their lives. It was 3 minutes of sheer terror and I can't imagine the P.S. We must all sign the online petition, circulating now against lynch mobbing. |
ok, now it's $1.7 trillion.
Naira. equivalent $11b |
dayokanu: Tuesday, November 10, 2009True talk. Money used to help with education or health bills. And in some cases to help fund "owabes". (Cousins calling to INFORM you about their engagement, traditional and white wedding as if you are the father of the bride). |
thelastPope: He definitely isn't born again. He probably is what we call church goers. The new breed of Christians. That is why I don't like to call myself a Christian. God or Jesus or the disciples never used the word. It was used by unbelievers in Jesus. Now the word is used to describe anyone who attends a church on a sunday or anyone who is born in the western world. You failed to mention that Churches should stop collecting this kind of money. Churches solicit for donation to different causes. And that's ok. Nigerian churches turn a blind eye knowing and do not question the source of wealth. How can a Bank executive make a personal donation of N45 million and people simply accept. Churches are therefore equally complicit in this sinful act by not rejecting this donation. This is a common practice in Nigeria and we are only hearing about this because the guy is under EFCC investigation and he left a paper trail (i.e. the cheque) |
logica: Lol. Na your type dey turn basic 2+2=4 to 2*16-3-7-5-8-5=4. What aesthetics does the simple Google search page have? Who cares about domain name if it generates traffic? You said "yeye" traffic. I can imagine what you'd give to get a hundred thousandth of Google's traffic. The whole world knows what it means when they say Google is the "best" website; except for you.Alexa ranking is based on number of visits to the site only. period. Rating the "Best" site is based on many factors, with user experience been the most important. "Best" can be somewhat subjective. User experience on eCommerce site will be quite different from a content only site. Google is not the best site in the world but the most popular |
AjanleKoko: I share the same sentiment. You break it, you own it. From the day he was sworn in, he's accountable for all problems. Won't he take the credit if the report says unemployment fell sharply? 2 yrs is enough time to tell us where things are going. Right now, its just same old, same old - corruption & incompetence On the economy, this govt is like a rudderless ship - no vision; no sense of direction. Missteps after missteps have been the hallmark of this govt. Jonathan has really disappointed as Nigerians believed in him. If he can't crack the problems he should step down. Of course we know, he won't |
uceee: Hypocrisy all over the place. People Looking for people to condem for doing the same things they have done. They justify themselves by telling us they did it for different reasons from the ones we are doing them. My guy here found a US Visa useful when he wanted to study abroad. He conveniently forgot that there were plenty of universities in Nigeria offering post graduate education up to Ph.d level. Now he's telling us that US Visas are useless. He probably still travels to the US once in a while for business, pleasure or whatever. But its alright, cos he does not have a "slave mentality" like the rest of us. SMHYou nailed it! Nothing wrong in giving birth abroad. The post was simply advising people to pay for services when they get over there. Shikena. Now people are talking about slave mentality. really? |
What kind of examination indicated it's autism? It could be that it's only delayed speech & language development. Sometimes people mistake this for autism since delayed speech & language is a key symptom. I suggest you take him for a couple of session with a Speech & language specialist to assess him. |
KINGwax: i appreciate your intelligence. Pls feed the fools with more erudition. They're jes hating. Nobody said abiola was a saint, we knew he wasn't. But jes like obj , dangotte, adenuga wasn't, i love them for investing billions of stolen cash in here, and besides, abiola is like a loved gangster who steals and gives out to the less privileges.Mehn! we truly deserve the pain inflicted by these thieves with this kind of pathetic statement. No wonder prpgressive and rational thinkers struggle to figure out what is ailing this nation |
revomind: Speak for yourself bro. The idea then was for the military to go back to the barracks and the man had just won a free and fair election in all parts of the country: north, south, east, west. Thats the summary of the clamour. The man was a symbol for a just cause. Asides all of that, Yoruba people knew Abiola's antecedents and its a gross exaggeration that he was seen as a messiah. After all, he was very comfy with the military elite to the extent there were insinuations he was sponsoring coups. Perhaps you're also too young to know that he was an NPN financier and NPN was an unpopular party in the old West. The antecedent of MKO is the crux of the issue. Some of us are unable to reconcile the fact a man with such antecedent became a symbol of a just cause. Sadly, the 1993 election was a choice between an uninspiring, though Knowledgeable Tofa vs a corrupt and charismatic Abiola. MKO's association with the military and as a member of the previous civilian ruling govt(the corrupt NPN) should have elicited greater scrutiny at the time. But it seems Nigerians were willing to forget just so we have a civilian govt at all cost. The 1993 debate between Tofa and Abiola. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JPiFHzSi5X4 |
