The number of ultra-modern estates in Ibadan and Abeokuta outnumber all the houses in the entire SE. The Development in the SW outpaces the SE by far. Oyo and Ogun host more combined multi-national and international organizations than the entire SE. Ibadan is host to so many foreign brands that are non-existent in the entire SE, e.g. KFC, Coldstone, Dominos Pizza, even the Shoprite malls started expansion here in the SW. Ibadan has over 5 Cinemas, Enugu has just 1. KFC has 3 Outlets in Ibadan, none in the entire SE. The largest Shoprite mall in West Africa is at Ibadan, not the SE. Dominos Pizza has 2 outlets in Ibadan, none in the entire SE. UPDC, the largest Real estate developers in the country (which only develops in Abuja, Lagos, and PH) recently delievered their first set of 50 unit estate at Ibadan, they have none in the entire SE. An ibadan estate, Alalubosa GRA, is listed in the top-10 of the most luxurious and expensive estates in Nigeria, none in the SE was listed. Arepo at Ogun state has some of the most ultra-modern estates in Nigeria (Citiview), nothing of the sort exists in the entire SE. All those Ibadan and Abeokuta red-roofs will remain there for posterity. We have more than enough real-estate/landmass to accomodate them while developing and opening up new areas, unlike you all that must build 'high-rises' to save space. Just let it rest.

Even wikipedia quotes the size of the Enugu 'city' as a mere 43.63mi square while the entire state is 2,765mi square. Now compare that to Ibadan city, which is a whooping 1,189mi square. Enugu city/metropolis no big pass Ikeja sef. #Fact.

That 'poverty' you are claiming to see is what hundreds of thousands of your kinsmen are aiming to migrate to when they move en-masse out of your region to places like Ogun. Enugu metropolis comprises of a mere 2 local govts, the remaining 15 local governments of the state are villages. Ibadan city alone is almost as big as the entire Enugu state. I don't go about snapping pictures of flyover, but bear it in mind that an interchange is also a flyover. Flyover is not just like the one in mokola, flyover have different types and going by that Enugu has nine flyovers. If you will add ebeano tunnel, which is a railway flyover, then its ten.

If you have been to Enugu, you won't be asking me the pictures of flyovers, if you coming from 9th mile before you get to abakpa junction, you will meet 3 flyovers (the one that leads to new market, trans ekulu flyover and abakpa junction flyover), from abakpa junction to airport road, you will see two (one at new heaven junction and the airport road flyover). If you are coming from port Harcourt (gariki flyover entrance, amechi flyover, ugwuaji flyover and artisan flyover).

Nonsense and poppycock! The sort of flyovers/interchanges you described Enugu as having more than 9 of are even more common at Ibadan than the entire SE. #FACT. The Challenge/Ring Road/Ojoo to Iseyin Road axis alone has over 8 of those (this area covers less than 5km). In fact, entering Ibadan via Lagos-Ibadan expressway greets you with more than 6 interchanges and flyovers connecting one to the rest of the city. The entire Enugu state can't even boast of ONE of the kind that was commissioned at Mokola few years back, while Ibadan has at least two of that sort. Ogun listed no less than 5 flyovers for commissioning during the last 40th year celebration of the state so what are you talking about?

Can you blame them really? It's obvious that building flyovers and tarring roads has become a new thing in the South East region due to the abysmal performance of their previous governors to date , so much so that they feel they must announce and celebrate these as 'achievements'. Ogun state has built no less than 5 flyovers, some of which were commissioned a few weeks ago. Flyovers may be new to the SE which is understandable but they aren't a big to us. The SW has been pioneering in the area of Agro-allied processing and mechanized farming for decades without making noise, but they see such things as unheard of achievements when some of their states do same. Mechanized farming has been going on in the SW and the North for decades yet no noise. Lagos has a 50-hectares rice farm at Itoga Badagry, others at Itoikin Rice field, Itoikin Idena, in Epe, the state also has an additional 500-hectares rice farm at Ogun state that has been producing and packaging rice for years without much noise. Ogun has been producing and packaging rice for only God knows how long yet no noise, not to mention ofada rice. The South West is still exporting Cocoa and earning Nigeria her highest non-oil revenue without much noise. The SW region still leads the entire country in the amount of FDI it receives compared to others. SE governors are merely doing a fraction of what some of our poorly-rated and current SW second-term governors already did times 3-over during their first term. Just because TA Orji, Elechi and Obi refused to tar Aba, Abakaliki, and Anambra roads and build flyovers for 8-years they are seeing road construction as new things. Smh.

The Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) has said Lagos and the six other states control about 90 per cent of cash transactions in the country.
The other States are Rivers, Anambra, Abia, Kano, Ogun and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).
The CBN Deputy Governor, Operations, Mr. Tunde Lemo, disclosed this.
According to Lemo, this was one of the factors that necessitated the planned extension of the cashless policy to those States from July 1, this year.


He, however, pointed out that there were still some challenges with the cashless project, saying that most of them are being resolved. Lemo identified interconnectivity as one of the challenges.
Lemo said that besides the use of alternative channels of transactions such as Point of Sales (PoS), the cashless project would be driven through the telephone.


Lemo also said the cashless policy had been successful in Lagos, adding that the number of point of sale (PoS) terminals in the state has increased significantly from about 5,000 when the policy took off last year, to over 150,000.
“We still have a few challenges, but if I look back, I really would say that we have done a lot to transform the payment system in Lagos through PoS,” he said.

The cashless policy, whose implementation began in Lagos in January, last year, is aimed at reducing the dominance of cash in the system. The policy specifies penal charges for individuals and corporate organisations that want to withdraw or lodge cash above prescribed limits.
Under the policy, the CBN pegged the daily cumulative cash withdrawal or deposit limit for individual accounts at N500,000 per day and N3 million per day for corporate accounts.


The Chief Executive Officer, Electronic Payment Providers Association of Nigeria (E-PPAN), Mrs. Onajite Regha, had said the coming on board on the next phase of the cashless policy in July may raise the value of electronic funds transfer in the country to N160 billion per day by the end of the year. The E-PPAN boss had also said that the current value of electronic fund transfers – put at N80 billion per day by the CBN, would likely double because more people would be compelled to use e-Fund transfer channels.[/b]

1. Abuja

2. Kano

Kano, the capital of Kano State in northern Nigeria, is the second largest city in terms of population, after Lagos.

This year, South African retailer Shoprite opened its first outlet in Kano, and Massmart is expected to do the same in the coming weeks. Despite the potential security risk posed by Islamic militants in the region, Mark Turner, Massmart’s Africa director, said at the Reuters Africa Summit in April: “I always want to be bold enough to say, you can’t be in Nigeria without being in Kano.”

Furthermore, a new African Development Bank (AfDB) report, titled Tracking Africa’s Progress in Figures, reveals Kano to be one of Africa’s fastest growing cities.

3. Port Harcourt

Abajue said that Port Harcourt, the capital of Rivers State, is the “centre of attention in the south of the country” due to the presence of oil companies and foreign investment in the area. He added that the city is also seeing a rise in per capita income.

Port Harcourt has access to two of the country’s busier ports and is home to the Port Harcourt Airport.

4. Aba

Aba is situated in the southeast and is also surrounded by oil wells. Abajue noted that the city acts as the trading centre of Nigeria.

“And again, there you will see strong purchasing power because a lot of trade is coming out of that place. [Aba] is the connecting spot for the hub of trade activities for the southeastern part of the country.”

5. Ibadan

“The last [city] that I would like to add is Ibadan in the southwest axis,” continued Abajue.

He noted that it is densely populated and has significant infrastructure. The capital of Oyo State has the third largest population in Nigeria, and, according to the AfDB report, is in the top 10 fastest growing cities in Africa.

Irene Charnley founded the company and is the CEO. Dr. Ernest Azudiala Obiejesi is just a shareholder in the company. Nollywood ebony beauty, Nkiruka Omeili, popularly known as Kiki Omeili, has been full of admiration at the level of development going on in Ibadan, Oyo State.
The actress, presenter and doctor, who travelled to the ancient city for the shoot of a newly released movie, ‘Couple of Days’, told Saturday Tribune at the private screening of the movie in FilmHouse Cinema, Surulere, Lagos during the week that she was surprised at the new look of Ibadan. The ‘Lekki Wives’ actress didn’t mince words as she attributed the high level of development in the Oyo State capital to the good governance of the present administration.

Speaking with a dint of reminiscence she said: “Ibadan is actually a city I am familiar with. I spent a whole year in Ibadan before. I did my housemanship in Ibadan at UCH [University of College Hospital, Ibadan] as a medical student. Back when I did my housemanship, there was almost nothing there. That was in 2007.” Now, Ibadan has changed. Ibadan has grown. It’s just so beautiful. There are now some many awesome sites and places. I think that’s one of the things you expect of a good government. I think the governor is doing a good job.

“It was nice shooting in Ibadan. We accomplished a lot because Ibadan is kind of quiet unlike Lagos. And moving around was not difficult. I think one of the aims of this movie is to show people that Ibadan isn’t as bad as before”.

The movie was shot mostly in Ibadan and reviews the intricacies of modern love and marriage through the lenses of three couples who decide to leave the hustle and bustle of Lagos for a much quiet vacation in Ibadan.

Kiki played Joke, a brash and materialistic wife of one of the triplet couples vacationing in Ibadan. The movie also starred multitalented singer, Falz the Bahd Guy, Lilian Esoro, Enyinna Nwigwe Adesua Etomi, Ademola Adedoyin among others.
Couple of Days was premiered in Ibadan on Thursdays and other cinemas houses across the country.

It was on one of those trips that they met Ile-Ife fishermen on the coast of Eko and they fought and defeated the Ile-Ife fishermen and few Benin people settled in Eko and few scattered population of Ile-Ife people always settled for fishing.

When the Portugese came for exploration, the named Eko, which in Bini means camp, they name it Lagos, which means "Lake" in Portugese.

I think the Benin people have a very detailed history and this Oba issue will bring to light that Benin Monarchy is totally the precursor of the Eko, and what ever the disclosure will be, both tribes will take it in good faith. No tribe is superior, its just language that is different.
