Christianity Etc › Re: Cancelled Wedding In Bayelsa: Deeper Life Reacts After Suspending Couple by Offpoint1: 12:55am On Jun 11, 2019
Kelvin30286063:
I would have given you guys a very funny and interesting news yesterday if not that it all happened in a flash and I didn't record the action until it was over.
The wedding was great, a normal deeper life wedding. The wife was not allowed to use any form of make up. Not even powder. (sadly, she's my cousin)
Everything went smooth at the church until we got to reception.
The family already hired professional musicians to sing at the reception but the church asked them not to play and the church choirs started singing praise for the wife to dance in. She refused to come in and started crying. I was sorry for her I swear.
Then after much pressure and time wasting, she walked in without dancing, leaving her husband behind.
Everyone was in shock and started asking each other why she didn't dance in. Lol
But how will she dance to those kind of deeper life old school praise songs for christ sake?
This is not to criticize the church or anything cuz I'm a member of deeper life too but I think this marriage doctrines are too strict.
We've lost all the youths in the church because of it and still they are not getting it.
Deeper life makes Christianity looks like bondage I swear.

pizardguy:
WE ARE MISUSING SOME TERMS HERE

1. Education
2. School
3. Knowledge
4. Career

Education refers to learning generally and is not limited to schools.

School is a curriculum based setting that primarily teaches and nurtures a child's mind.

Knowledge simply refers to what you know. After reading this, your knowledge adds up. It has always does. So it's not reliant on schools.

Career refers to a chosen field motivated by interest of a person and dedicated to ensure survival.

Listen to me, and feel free to quote me, education ends in Secondary school, career is the only motivation for tertiary institutions.

When Zuckerberg left Harvard, he left because he believes in his mind that he could develop a career in his own without relying on a myopic syllabus.

He tried his luck, that is free to do, it worked. You know what happened next? The school saw that they couldn't have built him up to achieve what he had and they awarded him HONORARY DOCTORATE.

That is same with so many people like him. Check out great people, it is not school syllabus that got them where they are but ability to think and make things happen.

This is what many do not possess. That is not a problem, but if you possess such ability it is best that it is used judiciously.

Anyone saying education is key should note that a SSCE holder from a standard school is fully educated officially and he may choose his career from any angle.

It is also myopic and less intelligent to think that it is all about BSc MSc while there's nothing in the head than log of syllabuses which unfortunately would be forgotten in few years and most unfortunately is not applicable to our day to day lives at least within our Nigeria...
This thread should be close, this is the most reasonable comment I've read so far on this thread. You've said nothing but the truth.

We need totally re orientation on what education is to Nigerias

Nigerians voted a secondary shool leaver against a PhD holder , this only shows u that school is good but money is better ,I had this same opportunity some years ago but I misused it ,I am a graduate now without work , when I was in 3rd year one of our relative wanted to travel abroad , he called me , can u leave your studies and continue with my business worth like 3 million very well established, I told my friends they advised me never to drop out of school , anyway he gave it to another person , now the person is a millionaire while I have graduated with no job , he even employed 3 graduates, he has multiple cars with houses and I can only boast of big grammars
Lol, at big grammars.

Future is brighter brother, still try get some additional skill. if cert no work skill go pay for sure.

Education this and education that is what has gotten Nigeria to this point "massive unemployment of unproductive graduates" guy if what you are doing is a skilled job please continues doing it , master it and employ the graduates for 10k a month that's all they are worth.
Lol, you've said the truth... in the western world once most kids finish high or college... they pursuit their career, but in Nigeria na degree... now we have millions of jobless and Skill-less graduates roaming the streets looking for 300k monthly job.

Education › Re: How The Phrase ‘my Dear’ Can Put You In Trouble by Offpoint1: 7:26pm On Jun 09, 2019
pocohantas:
I agree with the writer, most times people use it to address someone they feel is beneath them. By age or whatever category they deem fit.

How many of the supposed educated people would respond to our MDs with "my dear". I bet none. That part of your brain that is wired to say dear will switch off and use Sir/Madam.

I really do not take it seriously, but I have issues with people using unnecessary endearments for me. Especially people of the opposite sex who I share no BOND with. I had this one that kept calling me sweetness. Who is your sweetness? undecided

At work, I tell the junior staff, don't call me aunty, sister...call me by my first name. Feel free to add a Miss if you want.

I address people by their first names. Except my shugar...
Good evening poco my sweetness, how's your day going sweetheart?

Your opinion is so wrong baba.

Zinox and Leo Stan Eke made it in Nigeria.

Leadway made it in Nigeria

Dangote, GTB, UBA, Glo, Nairaland, MTN Nigeria and many made it in Nigeria.

It's pessimists like you that are forcing our intellectuals to fly out and become cleaners in the West.

They will make it in Nigeria.

We will all make it.
