do i have to feel like i am defending myself oh!

Even in real life countless people tell me i look nigerian. They have even by my looks assigned me a tribe. Igbo.

But that is not what am on about. I am not nigerian. i like the name OgaMadam cause the way the Nigerian daddies spoil their women is so --- how can i say. Cool.

I have a real problem people. Help me.

Do i need to learn any nigerian customs and such in order to keep my marriage good. what must i watch out for?

Sincerely.

Nana you said:
Sorry babes, but we Nigerians claim to be africans.
Infact there is a Nigerian song which says 'I'm so proud to be African, yes o yes ooo' . U get me,

and i understand that. but at the end of the day, i know Nigerians are very tribalistic people. and even if your african, they may still look at you as oyinbo. you understand. so its important that i make that distinction.

In my culture we have customs. what if my husband is not from my custom, it means i have to learn his culture and ways. thats what i mean by the difference.

hit me with your suggestions.

You have seen the pics.  Now here are the letters from the two of them to each other.

_______________________________________________________________________

It was an email.

(THOSE WERE THE DAYS!)
Classic,
Dear Sugar
Time and ability plus double capacity has forced my pen to dance automatically on this benedicted sheet of paper. Why! this miraculous thing happened is because papie I love you spontaneously and as I stand horizontal to the wall and perpendicular to the ground I only think of you, since you are a fantastic and fabulous guy. Papie please Stop haranguing with the feelings in my heart because I love you more than a snake loves the rat. To me each day starts by thinking of you and ends by dreaming of you. Each time I see you, my metabolism suddenly stops and my peristalysis goes in reverse gear. My medula-oblangata also stops functioning.
Crazy crazy crazy you may say but this is true. If only you knew what is going on in my encephalon you would understand. That's why I need to see you face to face with you, soon. I think I have to pen-off here because I still haven't finished studying electrolysis and polymerization. Catch you Pa - later. Sleep tight and don't let those bed bugs ever bite you coz you are too sweet a thing for them.
I have put my beautiful picture in the letter for you.

Yourz Ever,
Sugar nonoza

REPLY
Dear Honie
My Love, My Sugar, i was exasperated with pride to have received one from you, the lungs in my body flapped with joy when i have been reading your letter. Anyway by now you have reached the realisations to why i am jotting this small letter to you, yes it is to see if you are keeping with the sands of time.
How is everything on that other side of yours? Well here everything is just half lemon half sugar to make it schweppes. How is your schooling? How are you pulling the wagons of life? I am just pulling the schooling thing like a donkey pulling a cart.

My honie, i am missing you very much right now, my heart is perambulating with every word that i write, if it was not for these oceans that decided to flow between us then i would get on the next bus to come and see you, but until then i know that i will not hesitate to put this blue blood on this paper and write to you. I remember that day lovie, that one sweet day as Maria Curry sanged it, you know that it is my favorites song honie, the one day that we were boarding the combies and you escorted me to my home, walking with you just brought sweet dreams to me for the rest of my life honie.

If words of love could ride a bicycle I would be competing against Diego Maradona. Anyways, i will not stop you from reading the books that give you life and education so I will stop here for today.
Please always writing to me because I am missing you like sugar misses tea. You can see my foto in the letter. My dedications to you are : Maria Curry - One Sweet Day. Boys to Main - And of the Rod.

Keep well my mop of my heart,
Yours in flesh and in blood,
Ruise Sugar Baby

P.S. Sorry about my english, I did not learn anymore

Please my treasured people,

help me.  My boyfriend and i have been going out for 3 years.  he is igbo.  i am african.  if we got married (cause he asked me), what are the chances we will last?

Also, although am african, i worry that i am not too familiar with naija culture, cause one day, we may go back there.  as a foreigner there - will i cope?

how do igbo people accommodate foreign african women?

hit me.

RomanceRe: Can You Marry A Man Shorter Than You? by OgaMadam(f): 3:58pm On Jun 01, 2007
Oatgold: you hit the nail on its head.

Every man's dreamwoman

-- is a weird bitch in bed,
-- a caring mother for himself,
-- a woman for his name,
-- a baby for him to pamper

likewise the same for every woman they desire
-- weird monster in bed,
-- a caring father for herself and the kids,a
-- babyboy for her to pamper,
--a hubby to change her name, and a generous dude.

so, of what use is any tall guy without all this and and impotent man.So i feel that's less important.

HOT!
RomanceRe: Can You Marry A Man Shorter Than You? by OgaMadam(f): 3:51pm On May 31, 2007
Short women need to marry tall men.

Tall women need to marry short men.

If both parents are itty bitty short, the babies will hate their parents for that.

If both parents are really really tall, the babies will hate them too.

You need both to balance out. so it may be a short woman is not for you. chase the taller ones abi.

i found this and i think it will help you.

CultureRe: Dating A Nigerian Guy In China by OgaMadam(f): 6:05pm On May 30, 2007
Leave him.

Although Igbo men rarely marry foreigners, at least these foreigners have to be african.

At your age, and from what you say, he is taking you for a ride.

He is probably married at that age, if he was younger ---- ok, , but he aint, and what does he mean "he doesnt make plans for many things"

OPEN YOUR EYES! HE is a business man.

move on gurl, your in china, you dont need that.

The more you call him the more you "cheapify" your self.

preserve your diginity and make yourself rare.

I hate to say this, but do you think she loves someone else?

If your attached to somebody else, or wanna prevent yourself from getting attached to anybody, kissing is a no no.

Watch Pretty Woman. She only kisses him once she becomes intimate with him, in her soul.

RomanceRe: Is It True Naija Men Eventually ONLY Marry Nigerians by OgaMadam(op): 7:21am On Jan 22, 2007
MADAM IS BACK IN THE HOUSE YALL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I was away for a while only to come back to this!  Thanx everybody for all yall comments.  you made me laugh.  Jaybaby WETIN BE DIS?  You know a woman must follow the leading and the culture of her man abi?  Thats how i was raised.  Wherever he is from, i go follow, its just that nigerian men are so damn strong and have a lot of drive, thats attractive to me.  You made me laugh girl.

Whether its on the board or real life, im always mistakened for a naijan.  When all my naija friends go teach me igbo and pidgen they always tell me to "trace my origins" because i must definitiley be apparently igbo.  They say i look igbo too.

Its not that i want to, i just feel at home with nigerians in ways i don't feel with other cultures i mingle with around here.

With nigerians when you arrive in their place the first thing they ask is "Have you eaten?"  Ofcourse theyd give you egusi soup, and all that, and for me, with my ex boyfriend, i geuss i just felt a sense of home that had nothing to do with his culture or country.  It was something innate, but still we lost that.  So im asking out of curiosity o.

No i am not Nigerian.   And Okwanuzo3 youve really hit it on the head.  Zamunda is absolutely fictional.  I don't come from there O.

I call myself OGAMADAM because i just dig the idea of spoiled, fat african mamas, wearing shiny goldy outfits, and eating out of gold plates.  I like the idea that a man, will lay all down when serious to treat his MADAM well.  No be so?  And my bobo buying me jeeps and stuff.

Not that i don't see holes in the culture yall, i still see some messy stuff like infidelity, the abnormally strong love of money, untasteful abilities to lie.   But what culture doesnt have problems

BIG UP NIGERIA!!!

peace, im out.

It all backfires. Just give it time, or change before it does.

oh thou seemingly enlightened one.

You mention quite a lot of important points.

but i think you are one of the few african americans that think that way. And thats good. it solidifies your identity.

I think african american women are forced to stand up because their males just dont respect or stand up for them. someones gotta do the job.

i like what you say about the men in society going out to work, whilst the females focusing on their emotional needs. thats deep man.

anyways later.

you shouldnt really.

crossing that line is bad enuff.

it symbolises the fact that all respect has diminished.

RomanceRe: Do Black American Males And West African Women Make Good Couples by OgaMadam(f): 6:48pm On Jan 05, 2007
I just personally believe that sometimes african women are made to feel inferior by their african counterparts in the west. It is sometimes better to be with a white man than our "distant brothers" cause they kind of look down on us.

Thats my take on this.

Just an opinion no offence wink smiley
