Why are all exonerating Ameachi. NASS shouldn't be blamed for a ministry's error. Ameachi never included it in the budget. The all uprising in NASS over the missing Lagos-Calabar railway still amazes me.

We should put the blame on Ameachi for such fatal flaw.

Bro we have passed that stage. The NASS have made Amaechi a hero and a true Niger deltan by their actions. Take heart man.

Take it easy bro. Just 2 questions for you.
1. Did the supreme court tell the federal govt to allow the govs have their way? (2) if the state's refused to save their share of the loot (ECA) what stops the federal govt from saving it share.

Looks okay to me. Hopefully they will present candidates based on performance and not the normal crap

Really?
So whats the difference between them and the APC they accuse of running a sectional govt.

President - north
Senate president - north
These are the two most powerful positions.

When APC did it (even though they ddnt have candidates from the southeast) they were called names likes ethnic and religious bigots. The opposition painted a picture devoid of any form of strategic arrangement. The pdp made us believe that it was a deliberate ploy to insult the southeast and south south. Thank god for the emergence of ekweremadu.
This zoning by the pdp tells you that politics is strategic. You can jettison fair play when it becomes clear that it will not favour the collective aspiration of a pple. kudos to the pdp.

You have a point but I strongly believe that the loan agreement I'll have some form of protection for both parties.

Bro you might be right to some extent, but be dat as it may be, think about dis, when you dont have a budget signed/passed into law and you are going to borrow, what does that tells you?

My brother the Chinese don't care much about that. They have their strategy worked out already. they know that our lawmakers are not reliable too.
Do you know that a large chuck of the money will come in form of direct project execution by Chinese firms. Believe me the Chinese are very intelligent pple. They know what Nigeria will look like in 30yrs from now. They are not doing us a favour persay by granting us loans rather they benefit more from the relationship.

Like the Chinese need someone to tell them about Nigeria ba. Tell me you are not serious bro. A lil education sir. As part of the Chinese trade and investment strategy, the penetration of Africa is a core aspect. It is a deliberate policy to overthrow the west.

I stand with you on this 100%. But recent events have (like Calabar - Lagos rail) have shown that our leaders are not patriotic. They cared about their stomach alone. For me, the first port of call should be purging ourselves inside out. By purge, I mean Pursuing a grand design that will eventually usher in selfless leaders who will project our aspirations to a logical end.

Yet some foolish Southerners are supporting the same Jibrin against Amaechi, claiming that the Coastal Railway was not in the original budget.

Are Jibrin' s and Dogora's project in the original budget?
Were they included in any subsequent amendment like Amaechi did for the coastal railway?
Did the relevant ministers defend those projects during the budget defence?

Lastly, did Jibrin wait for a supplementary budget before inserting his own personal projects outside the statutory allocation for constituency projects? Yet the same Jibrin is telling Amaechi and the President to wait till a new supplementary budget is raised by the executive before a critical project can be approved.

The problem with hate is that people self-destruct, thinking they are hurting their enemies. Some are determined that Buhari must not achieve anything good within their political domain, as if he was responsible for the failure of their own son on home soil.

Buhari and Amaechi may never need to use the coastal railway in their lifetime, but the supposed beneficiaries are supporting the arguments of the very person who has robbed them to make his own people happy.

Years from now, a new generation of Southern bigots would proclaim that the North allocated lots of infrastructural projects to themselves, oblivious of the self-hate that caused their own neglect.

Apt.

I hope my brothers from Israel will get the import.

My brother, we need to purge the National Assembly off those criminals. Imagine the level of corruption. I'm very sure Jibrin will never carry out those proposed projects, the monies allocated to various projects are going to end up in his pocket.

I can confirm to you that 25m Naira was allocated to a secondary school in my areas in 2015 budget, till this morning no single classroom has been built. Consistency project is a fraud, I'm not even sure it's captured in our constitution.

It is as unconstitutional as it sounds. This practice was allowed because we had an equally compromised executive in the past. You can see clearly where all the dust is coming from. Curruption will always fight back.

On top of this kind of mess, some of our senators were shouting Calabar - Lagos rail was not in the original budget. Some of them sleep on tweeter preaching commonsense which they do not have. Some say they are biafrans so no need for govt of the "ZOO" to build a mega infrastructure like a railway in their region especially when a certain Amaechi and buhari will champion it. Yet others are busy sponsoring bills that will amend the cct and ccb acts. Not forgetting those who have thrown their weight behind the grazing bill for herdsmen.

This goes to show that they were never elected in the first place. They just imposed themselves on us. How else will you explain a situation where a former gov will suddenly bcom the best man for the Senate as soon as he finishes looting his state treasury. I bet you, if these were the crop of lawmakers we had duridng the obj infamous 3rd term days, obj would have become a dictator by now.
The ones that are not sleeping in the chamber are busy running down amaeachi as if Amaechi is the landlord of the south south and south east. Pathetic.

What do you suggest should be done? This issue has lingered on for too long. The absence of a budget is having a deleterious effect on all facets of our national life.

I suggest we throw out Weight behind the president to teach these legislooters some rare democratic lessons. Pple that are suppose to be making laws are busy allocating projects and resources to themselves. Are you aware that the national assembly annual budget is higher than that of 21 states of the federation @150billion. Yet they wont allow the executive be.
Politics / Re: We Will Reexamine The Budget – Dogara by ogmaskman: 8:32pm On Apr 13, 2016
bejeiodus:
The budget ab initio was not meticulously put together. That was what necessitated the 'stealing' of the budget from the National Assembly to correct the errors in it. With the current impasse between the executive and the legislative arms of government, I don't think there is an end in sight to this imbroglio. While the trading of blames between the two arms continues, those who they all swore to serve continue to live in privation.

The budget of any country is an executive property. Nigerian legislators should stop trying to make a shine of it. The executive arm of govt runs the show in any democracy so our law makers should understand this fact. Good to know they have said they are not rubber stamp legislature like their counterparts at state level but that still doesn't take away the fact that they have crossed their bound. On the other hand, the executive should know that nothing is cast in stone. You win some, you lose some.
Beyond anything, the legislators are very unpatriotic set of thieves. If you know them you wont argue Om their behalf. They make so much money in kickbacks from MDAs that any alteration to the rule is met with stiff opposition. If you like reduce their salaries and allowances to peanuts, they will still fight to get in there. Ever heard the word juicy committee? Food for thought...

The President should take a cue from this by getting down from his high horse and pen his signature to the budget. Provisions can then be made for the Lagos-Calabar rail in a supplementary budget. We have had enough of this ping-pong of blames between both arms of government.

The issue transcends the presidents signature. How do u expect t him to sign a document he cannot work with. I think we need to understand the issues Realy. Lemme break it down. Money was taking from projects marked for completion by the executive sighing a period of time. The legislators on the other hand removed money from the marked projects and allocate some of this money totheir own projects without the consent of the executive who will be held responsible for the baudget . Now tell me if that was the right thing to do.
Dogara himself doesnt know the truth of what his men did. Remember the issue of farouk lawan? He was defended by the speaker till otedola presented his facts.

Does it mean that NDDC is illegal since it was totally opposed by the Executive and made to exist by the courageous NASS that overturned Obasanjo's veto?

Democracy is a representative government and moreover, Buhari wasn't an independent candidate.

No ma, it was obj that brought in nddc. Which legislators are you talking about. On the other hand, The senators veered off their lane completely when they started appropriating and allocating funds which is clearly out of their mandate.

[quote author=TonyeBarcanista post=44632592]There is no record to show that the project was "originally' budgeted for. Instead, record shows that the step by Amaechi was a after thought. If Buhari was sincere he would have formally requested that the project be added and the process was not through Ashafa.[/quotel]

I think the budget office has put paid to your assertion that it was an afterthought. Recall that the amended budget was sent straight to the various committees by the executive. Amaechi only went there to defend what was submitted by the executive. It is out of this world that Amaechi will submit a supplementary budget to just the land transport committee. They wont accept it if Amaechi had been the one who made the amendment. Pls do some more findings on this issue.
Those who reallocated the funds and the southern senators who allowed them are the real enemies of the Niger delta and Nigeria.
