eucharia64: I am goin to orange county in california any female going to calif in d aws? Holla. Abeg only females ooooo. LolFirst, congrats on your Visa. Seems most IT guys get their visa so easy. Anyways, Why do you want only females living in Orange county? ![]() ![]() I live in California and not too far from the county but I am not female....lol |
winbyforce: No Sir.From what I have gathered, if you have a co-signer who is a credit-worthy US citizen or permanent resident, you will get a loan even as an international student.Didn't you just say a co-signer? Case closed. Even at that, you can only get bank loans and not the usual US education student loans that come from schools financial aid department's which is the subject of discussion. To be able to qualify for that, you must be a citizen or permanent resident. No exception. And this will actually be my first time of reading it anywhere that schools give out loans, those schools must be very rich then. |
imperiouxx: Schools and DHS are much concerned about run-a-ways. For ages, transfer ain't crime but one's wish and another way int'l students don't join group of street urchin in the US.Gbam!! |
imperiouxx: Do you think that starts today or all schools allow transfer without doing first semester with them? Do you think they (schools) don't know how people try hard to evade the tuition. If transfer is really pain to schools, how about those that abscond into thin air? About contract, my school among others won't bother to give you I-20 without paying some of your tuition..... Why?!Me sef dey wonder ooo. I don't know when it has become a crime to transfer. It is a legal thing to do and not against the law. Int'l students including Nigerians, Ghanaians, Indians and Chinkos all do that. So, it's not something new and it's been like that for decades. USCIS or DHS do not care about all that in as much you do not fall out of status - na wetin concern them be that. Nigerians must really think they are the only Int'l students that come to America.....lol. |
mandybaby2007: @TOCHIUM:Student loans to Int'l students ? NO WAY |
log1: em.tsu.edu/registrar/gpacc.phpYou are wrong sir. WES will evaluate it to be above 3.0 out of a possible 4.0. This is in agreement with Imperiouxx's earlier post. |
Not all the embassies are bad. I went to renew my Nigerian passport at the NY office in May. I had a very good experience and the folks there were so nice and friendly. On top of this was that my passport was ready in less than 3 hours. I was surprised though. Lest I forget, there is this Nigerian woman that sells Nigerian foods for people who come to renew their passports. I was lucky to spot her and I got 2 wraps of amala and mixed vegetable and okra soup. It was so delicious ![]() |
pj5: Hello everyone. I am compelled to write about my visa experience due to the help I got from the experience of others on this thread. Hopefully, someone else in search of information will find this useful someday.Congrats. I have an important question to ask. Please check your mail. |

I only have my undergrad's project and never attended any conference and I have no name on any article.Your CGPA and GRE scores will do the talk on your behalf. These Profs. know too well that we will perform if given the opportunity, in an enabling environment, in a country that funds research, that appreciates STEM students. |

obsy2020: In houston, thanks to emirate airline they are the best, kudos to bigfrancis, Ms Nas, Kunsoft, ojap, gboyega and NL members, i really appreciate u guys, thanks and keep it up.Welcome to the United States bro. Please, do not to forget to attend the next Black Geoscientists conference in few weeks. The association promised to pay for student participants (airfare, hotel and food) especially those who will be giving an oral or poster presentation. I understand folks from your school will be driving down to Houston, so you can just join them and make sure you talk to the Naija PhD guy (my friend) to link you up with JoAnn who is the student coordinator of the association. She also doubles as the program coordinator of the Environmental Dynamics Program at the University of Arkansas. She will be happy to take care of that. I will also advise you try as much as possible to attend the conference so you can network with professionals in the oil and gas industry. Last year's conference was in DC. Shell, Chevron, BP and some smaller companies were there to recruit. So, you should expect more companies and professionals to be part of this year's conference in Houston. You may end up getting a summer internship. Remember Houston is the "oil hub" of the nation. So,don't miss out. All the best. |
Congratulations Lisadem. Perseverance pays. |
Congratulations BigFrancis We all know you will get it. Good things happen to good people. Like I always say, keep up the good work and never relent. Welcome to the wealthiest state in the US - Manly Deeds, Womanly Words. |

webstradamus: No sirYes we will. I only need to find out if I can withdraw with an ACCESS BANK card. Thanks. |
De Tus: @Lentywilly, I-20 again? Jesus. Pls do not be sad. I think God didn't want you to go at this time. Your case is smiliar to mine. Though it was sponsorship inaccurancy. Was so blind that I couldn't detect it. Even my parents didn't detect it too. Was later revealed to us at the church that something nasty could have happened to me in the US. That the man who interviewed me really loved me. That he acted like a father as well as my God. LOL!Thank you De Tus - You just made my day. Now I am laughing and all the tension wey dey my body before don commot. ![]() |
webstradamus: Just in case anyone is still looking for a cost-effective (or should I say cost-freeIs Webstradamus an Igbo man? |
imperiouxx: I dispute this. My undergrad CGPA was 3.68/5.00 and after WES evaluation, it came out as 3.29/4.00 OjaP: We have two variables...X and Y.www.seeabove.thatsall ![]() |
webstradamus: Since you now agree that your assumption only holds true for a specific range (based on your past observations, I hereby rest my casePlease, don't rest it.... ![]() ![]() ![]() |
bigfrancis21: Yea. At times, final year and penultimate year CGPA is considered and if going to be used as CGPA admission criteria, its usually going to be stated on the department's webpage categorically. In that case, if SMJ's uncle actually did well in his final and penultimate years such that the cgpa of both years is between 2.7 to 3.0 or higher, then that's an added advantage for him. He'll then seek schools who use 3rd and 4th year GPA as CGPA requirement rather than overall GPA. That way he could get in more easily.I agree. What I am saying also is that WES looks at your last 2years as well when evaluating. |
bigfrancis21: Yea. I modified my post. Check it out.Seen. |
bigfrancis21: With a cgpa of 2.4/5.0 which is less than half of 5.0, I can put your uncle somewhere at around 2.2/4.0. Highest he could attain on the 4-point scale is 2.40/4.00. WES translation is actually the best as all our Ds and Es are converted to Cs on the US 4-point scale. Since he made 2.40, its very likely he'll have quite a lot of Ds and Es that pulled his cgpa down, thus favouring him on the WES translation. I wouldn't be surprised if he makes 2.50/4.00!I have seen third class folks with a WES CGPA of 2.5 to 2.6. Your last 2-4 semesters matter a lot. |
