imperiouxx: SweetLol....you are always appreciated. You are one of the good people that checked on me when I went back home briefly....Thanks. Unfortunately, we can't go to Vegas or SC together before people start thinking otherwise.... ![]() ![]() ![]() Invite me to your graduation party, I will come...for sure. ![]() ![]() |
@ Vivysparkles Congratulations too. Welcome to the United States of America, I wish you the best in all you do. |
Ask me of a woman who is courageous, who won't give up, who is friendly, book smart, street smart and I will show you Ms Nas. Starting from you getting your I-20, sharing with me your long-term goals, paying for SEVIS and the Visa interview practise, one could easily tell you know what your onions are and ready to go any length to pursue your dreams. Even though we didn't get to see more than twice when I was in Nigeria few weeks ago, I still have that memory of discussing with a young and bright damsel. That a lady like you could even bag a BS in Applied Physics in a Nigerian university is also worthy of note. You surely deserve the Visa my dear. Lest I forget, I should also quickly thank you for being part of the function I invited you to while I was in Nigeria, I feel so honored to have you around on that day. Thanks so much. Ms Nas Today also being the birthday of that special person in your life also means it's going to be double celebration in your house. I wish him happy b'day too. When you get here, please face your studies, get enough certifications in your field, party when you can and leave the rest for God. Always count on me if you need any guidance or help - I gat your back for sure. Let me also let you know that two things are for sure. First, I will always keep this friendship till Jesus comes. Second, I hope to celebrate with you come 2015 or thereabout at your graduate hooding/commencement. Hold me anytime on this. Also, let me know if you will be coming to the US early, a trip to VEGAS with you won't be a bad idea, and don't worry I won't take you to the strip club.....lol. Once again, congratulations. I am so proud of you. Way to go Ms. Nas |
Congratulations Jasmine. Wish you all the best in the United States. |
@ Olawale @ Topzy @ Omonaijar: Congratulations to you all, I wish you guys the best in life. Welcome to the United States of America. Congratulations again. |
conyema12: thanx Ojap I am consideringYou may want to check their minimum GRE score required for admission or email the graduate coordinators of these schools. Most of the schools usually set a minimum 1000 GRE scores but pick candidates scoring at least 1200. GRE is only a part of the application. Your SOP, recommendation letter, research interest may augment. Good luck. |
conyema12: Hi guys i just did my GRE today and the scores summary is V151 Q148.. Is a good score? Can I break even with itConverting the score above to the old scores, Verbal: 470 Quantitative: 600 Your total score is 1070. This may be a 'lil bit low if you are considering top geological schools like UT Austin, TAMU, Colorado School of Mines etc. Just consider some "safety" schools as well when shortlisting. |
@ Odowetalu and Pawn: Congratulations and welcome to the United states. |
9jadelta: .,.,.,See your life on the electric cable.....lol |
9jadelta: see ur life on the wireLol...any evidence that I typed that? |
Cetezin: Ist to comment.Sorry, you need to port to airtel. You didn't even make second. ![]() |
dridowu: Good 4 democracyBros, I nor envy you at all. I am happy with the second position...lol. That said, the senator in question should be arrested and put in jail. That will serve as a lesson for others. |
fittty: They don't need to stamp anything on the passport, cos they already have the applicants thumb print.... Like I said earlier they can verify statements if they want to. You just read someone's interview about the VO holding his bank statement. She obviously wants to verify the authenticity of the account that's whyTell him please. Maybe he doesn't know the US embassy has every right to verify any document(s) you submit to them including bank statement. |
risher ris: the point here is, the is no way the vo can confirm the geniuty of a statement cos i dont think the bank can supply your account information to them.guess she is going through a tough time due to large volume of applicant .she might call you tomorrow morning.I think they can if they want. If in doubt, ask folks in the Canada or UK Visa section. |
Blankcheque: I haven't been to the US embassy b4. I think the VOs were just crazy today. All through my stay in there, no student visa ws grantd. I believe she shld av denied me just like others b4 me who she didnt even ask for any documents b4 denials. The bank statement is genuine and my interview went well until this part. I just want u gurus to advise me if I shld keep expecting their call while I risk losing my admission or I shld reapply while awaiting their call. Pls, am so sorry if am nt detaild enough. Am using my small fone. You don't have to re-apply. They will get back to you as promised, she only wants to verify all you submitted. They know you have to resume on time, so they will work with you. Don't panic at all. If I were you, I will start writing the embassy tomorrow about my case and resumption date. Don't forget to quote your passport number, confirmation code on the DS 160 and the rest when communicating with them. All the best. |
bigfrancis21: This is quite strange. I have a couple of questions for you.Bros, you are funny!!! No be today VOs dey see fake documents na...lol. I believe she will just let it slide and move on, they see it everyday. I don't think that will push them to scrutinize anyone who comes for interview. All the same, I don't think the guy in question submitted a fake document. They may just want to verify some other things including his name or admission. Or want to clear some things if his name popped up in their system during the interview. @ Blankcheque - Have you visited the embassy in the past? |
Blankcheque: I had my interview today in Abuja but it was inconclusive as I was handed a form 221(g) and the VO said they will contact me. Here is how it went: VO: hi, how are u? ME: Fine, tx VO:pls pass me ur doc me: passed them Vo: u re going to Texas for? Me: msc Vo: how did u find out about the school? Me: a professional colleague who earned a Phd from the school recommended to me and I also did some online research VO: OK! I could see u av some scholarship, who's paying for the rest? Me: my dad vo: can I av his bank statement? Me: gave it to her Vo: scrutinize d statement for about 30 secs, started typing then said I can't make a decision on ur application now. I will call u. Then retain the statement of account which has over 11M and my ds160 confirmation and gave me a form 221(g) on which she wrote we will contact you and returnd my passport and other documents. I later checkd online d implication of d form which I found out it was a 'soft' denial issued when a consular couldn't make a decision. My dillema now is: my schl resumes next month and since I couldnt tell when she will contact me, I need ur advice on what I shld do. Should I reapply now or wait until the embassy contacts me? Pls, gurus, I need all the help I can get. I Wait! They do random check on applications. Most VOs seldom do this anyways. You only happen to meet a crazy one today. You are fine if all your documents are genuine. They will only call you to come and submit your passport after verification. If otherwise, nothing less than 10years ban. |
To all folks who got their Visas - I say a very big congratulations. I am so happy for you guys. @ Teejay: I am so happy for you. Welcome to Obama land - Home of the brave. |
GboyegaD: Trying to enjoy the thing however, 2 major challenges I have are the light and serious traffic. I leave for work not later than 5:30am each day just to avert traffic.Yes, that Lagos traffic is mad. It will be difficult at first for someone changing from the America system to Naija own. You try no be small. I should be home next week too by God's grace. |
tweetty: special hanks to ojap, de tus, orlawahley and every to responded to my qiestion n wished me well. You're welcome Tweety, all thanks be to God. Congratulations and welcome to America. |
imperiouxx: Congrats https://serve.mysmiley.net/party/party0016.gifThanks Chief Imperiouxx. I appreciate. |
GboyegaD: Congrats Ojap for a job well done. May God establish your thoughts and the desires of your heart for good in Jesus Name (Amen)!Thank you so much bros. Gboye. Hope you're enjoying Naija. |
teejay_GO01: Oohh wooow! Congrats! I will give u a call when I close from work. Greater things await you!Thank you Mr. TeeJay.....I appreciate your call too. Will see you in few days. |
Ms Nas: Congrats OjaP on your commencement/graduation today! New Job too!!!Thank you so much Ms Nas, you are so sweet!!! When are you coming here? |
bigfrancis21: Third class GP is usually from 1.50 - 2.50 over 5 points and, to the best of my knowledge, the lowest minimum UG cgpa any credible US school can go to is 3.0/5.0 (or 2.7/4.0). How do you think he can scale that? Or you know one or two credible schools willing to accept his CGPA?There are good schools who accept between 2.3 - 2.4/4.0(third class) depending on major. More reason why I asked for his proposed major. AND No, it is not Walden Uni, Everest Uni, Devry or Phoenix. |
Congrats Smalltownboy. Lawyers are generally stubborn....lol. But is it true that all lawyers are liars @ DV lottery....lol? |
chatdare: Plz I want to know if US skools do acept students with third class degree into postgraduate diploma ?You can get into the masters program with a third class depending on your CGPA and your proposed MS/MA major. Do you want to share that so we can go from there? |
smartguy1759: The class is F1That is a big plus for you. No reasonable V.O would think you plan to leave your supposedly well paying job (an American company for that matter) to run to the USA and not come back home. |
I am loving the USA Visa thread now. It reminds me of part 1 and 2 where everyone treat each other as one family. I haven't noticed any hidden post by the moderator for the past one month or so. This goes to show that things have changed. Let's keep the flag flying folks. We will all get to the promise land. Imperiouxx and BigFrancis - Good job guys. |
smartguy1759: please pple, @OjaP, @imperioux and the rest, please don't leave my post unattended to...What category or class of Visa do you want to apply for? |
tweetty: @ojap thnkx once again. u wil b d first to hear my visa testimony on tuesday. AMEN.You are most welcome Tweety. The Visa is yours already. Lest I forget, if they ask if you have any relative in the US, do not lie since they still have access to the DS 160 you filled 6 years ago. I also hope your school is not in the same city or state with your brother/uncle. All the best. |
tweetty: also us my choice of school ok. by d way i did bsc nursingAgain, you are fine. What you should work on is why you chose the school and the major. You need to come up with a nice story that will convince any V.O. Assuming you don't want to use the company's account, do you have alternatives? |
