Business › Re: How To Start Your Own Rice Business With 60k by ojesymsym: 1:04am On Feb 17, 2016 |
Expatriate on this topic adetunjiyomi: When I started, I thought it was a difficult thing. First, I went to Takum Local government in Taraba state to learn rice processing, because it was hard to find a large processing or milling enterprise in the southwest and most were not ready to teach. After my two weeks training in Taraba, I went to Benue state to make more findings. These two states are part of the largest rice farming states in Nigeria, and they are known to have a lot of small mills. Armed with the knowledge of rice processing and business from other states, I came to Ado Ekiti to establish a medium scale rice processing unit which has been thriving ever since. It was, as matter of fact, arguably the largest processing unit in Ekiti state. With this three years of ever increasing success in rice processing, packaging and marketing, I thought of sharing my knowledge, showing you how you can also profit by being a rice processor.
Business is business. It has no other name for it. Call it agribusiness or what have you, it is still business. To start you own rice business, you need a minimum capital of 60k. Well, as a startup you are not getting a processing unit with 60k. For records sake, you'll need about 100million to install an average of 20tons per day processing unit. Lets leave the quantity aside and focus on the small, I mean really really small scale rice business. Which you can start with 60k.
Step 1: Get your capital. I don't know how. Just get your capital. Don't steal it cause you might end up in jail. You can ask a friend, tell your family, or just save it. I don't really advice borrowing, but if you can get it at 1 digit interest rate, why not?
Step 2: Decide your rice variety. You really need to investigate all kinds of rice varieties in Nigeria. At least the popular ones. Usually always location determined. If you are from the North NERICA and Farrow should be your best bet. If you are in the sourhtwest, Ofada is most popular. The choice is yours.
Step 3: Decide your market Better still, look for one. Your market is your business and not the product. Yes the product is the value you offer for money. But the people in your market are the ones that will pay. No pay no business.
Step 4: Look for a Your miller This is where your work really starts. You need to go to the rural areas where there are local rice millers. Look for a miller with "near modern" equipment and excellent perboiling and drying techniques. Also look out for high level of hygiene. ADVICE: Make a call to a friend in such areas before you started out.
Step 5: Packaging! Packaging!! Packaging!!! After all the work has been done. You must present yourself, your product in the right package to attract the best buyers.
Budget: Transport and carriage 10k Initial rice 21k packaging 20k misc. 8k

From what I hear, GEJ's memo and correspondence with Dansuki were all official with instructions for use on security matters. GEJ's case with the law if it ever happens may just be on why he made such extra budgetary orders without resort to the national assembly otherwise, officially his hands may be clean on the matter or at least presumed so for the sake of peace. BlackBaron: Dasuki did not start disbursement on his volition. His orders were from the top ala Goodluck Jonathan.
Why's Jonathan sitting easy if he oversaw spending of part of security funds for his own Re election? This country's systems are so badly lopsided. |

He may also escape jail if e neva chop the money finish. greggng: I commend this isa for being an honorable man that doesn't want his name stained. His friend dasuki gave him money to buy a house for him and he never told him the source of the fund. I thank him for following the part of honor instead of wasting our time in court like other criminals who doesn't want to return theirs. However I would want the govt to ascertain the actual amount those who rendered services to dasuki actually deserve. For instance dokpesi rendered services but does that service equal to the amount he got? If the amount paid was too much then he has to refund us the balance after deducting the actual amount. |

What I think is happening is that Dasuki will definitely go on trial for misappropriation and other financial charges that EFCC can come up with, but for the cash beneficiaries, they have a better alibi of not knowing where the cash was from, so the best bet with less headache is to ask for a refund of their own. This is my own lay man thinking though, trying to see things from EFCC point of view. Sealeddeal: All i can see here is illegal behaviour from EFCC. As much as i support the anti-corruption war, this very directive of EFCC is unwholesome and tyranical. The person that should make such refund as EFCC demands is Col. Sambo Dasuki. |

For those who don't know, lassa fever is worse than HIV. It killed about 5 people back then in school in our final year. It has an incubation period of about 3 weeks. The unfortunate thing is that it will start as fever and be mistaken for malaria.
The campaign then was to avoid soaking garri, cover all food stuff, cook ur meal properly, avoid rats with pointed mouths and stop bush burning because that is what makes the kind of rats leave the bush to homes to seek for food. I recall the fear in all of us then wen course mates were dying one by one. |

Politics › Alison-madueke Arrest: A Reminiscent Of 1984 Umaru-dikko's Arrest by ojesymsym(op): 10:36am On Oct 03, 2015 |
A new look at 2015 pre-election activities has shown that Alison-Madueke, the former petroleum minister had a premonition that this day will be come when she will be made to account for the funds stolen under her watch. She is said to have been one of the masterminds of moving the election with her preferred option being that the election was out rightly cancelled or somehow stalled. The results of her efforts however was just a postponement of the election by a further 6 weeks. Immediately after the election, in a bid to save herself had gone to meet Abdulsalami ( https://www.nairaland.com/2236637/dieziani-allison-madueke-visits-abdulsalami-abubakar/5) to help her negotiate a soft landing. With that effort failing, she made a last dish effort at getting the attention of President Buhari when she ran a sprint at the airport for a UK bound aircraft to catch up with PMB after somehow finding a way to seat close to him. With that effort hitting the brick wall, she sought asylum in various countries and was denied by a lot countries prompting her to finally settle in the UK where she was finally arrested. ( https://www.nairaland.com/2256277/six-countries-reject-alison-maduekes-asylum/4) Friday's arrest of Alison-Madueke is the cumulating of the chess game being played by PMB by waving a nest around corrupt individuals using all resources at his disposal including the help of other countries. This is however a far cry from the attempted crate extradition of another corrupt individual ( https://www.nairaland.com/2321508/see-exact-crate-umaru-dikko) in his 1984 attempt to fight corruption. Buhari has decided on this occasion to be more catholic than the pope, more democratic than the democrats. He has chosen to use the slow, rigorous process of using due process, the available local and international laws of bring corrupt individuals to book. Like he said in his independence day speech “Order is more vital than speed. Careful and deliberate decisions after consultations get far better results. And better results for our country is what the APC government for change is all about” probably trying to educate those who tried to rush him into prosecuting corrupt individuals. For those crying witch hunt, Buhari has this to say “As I said in my inaugural speech, I bear no ill will against anyone on past events. Nobody should fear anything from me. We are not after anyone. People should only fear the consequences of their actions. I hereby invite everyone, whatever his or her political view, to join me in working for the nation". What is not in doubt is that PMB is genuinely interested in moving this nation to new heights from the very lows of lows the last administration plunged the nation into. There is a new perceived atmosphere of optimism and hope in the psyche of Nigerians. Nigerians should not rejoice just yet because a lot still has to be proved. The corrupt individuals are not sleeping and neither should we. If the high powered individuals are made to face the law as they should, you can be sure that there will be a backlash. Nigerians of good will have to stand together in this fight, history beckon on us, only those who heed the call will be proud in the future and say I was there when this happened. AS an aside, the lady is fine. How a pretty lady like this can be this greedy shows how insatiable humans are. The sources disclosed that Mr. Jonathan, Petroleum Minister Diezani Alison-Madueke, the chairman of the PDP’s board of trustees, Tony Anenih, Ondo State Governor, Olusegun Mimiko and Ijaw political figure, Edwin Clark, were the main players in the new scheme.
President Goodluck Jonathan and his inner circle have begun new moves to jettison elections altogether, hoping that members of the National Assembly will agree to postpone polls once again and instead settle for a so-called interim national government, according to information received from several sources, one of them embedded in the Presidency in Abuja.
They are reportedly determined to sell their new plan to a small nucleus of key legislators at the National Assembly to discuss how best to recruit supporters, sources knowledgeable about the astonishing plot revealed.
The team pushing this new idea, one source said, is operating on the premise that it would be “dangerous to hand over power to Muhammadu Buhari.” Ms. Alison-Madueke was reported to be a hawkish pusher of the idea, with one of our sources adding that the Petroleum Minister was extremely anxious about the prospect of a Buhari Presidency exposing her numerous shady deals in the oil sector through which she and a few players selected by her have drained billions of dollars of oil revenues into their private holdings.
Ms. Alison-Madueke has assured the group that some officials of the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC) as well as several big-time beneficiaries of oil sector deals, including importers of refined fuel, were committed to the plan and willing to provide slush funds to pay a bribe of $2 million dollars to each senator and $1 million to key members of the House of Representatives to persuade them to endorse the plot to derail elections permanently and install an interim national government. The president is working through officials of the NNPC to fund the massive bribe scheme.
Mr. Jonathan’s henchmen have begun discussions with some members of the National Assembly as the legislative body prepares to resume another legislative session in Abuja next week. It would be the first time the legislature would sit after the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) announced last week that polls, which were scheduled for February 14, 2015, had been postponed for six weeks.
According to those who briefed SaharaReporters on the latest scheme by the Presidency, Mr. Jonathan plans to sell to key legislators the argument that, since Nigeria is at war at the moment, the government would need another six months at least to fight off Boko Haram insurgents in the northeast of Nigeria before elections can take place.
A source close to a former military head of state, Abdulsalam Abubakar, told SaharaReporters that Mr. Jonathan had approached the retired officer and pleaded with him to consider heading an interim national government that would be put in place on May 29, 2015 if Mr. Jonathan’s plan prevails. “General Abubakar promptly declined the offer and immediately informed some ex-heads of state about the offer,” the source disclosed.
Mr. Jonathan and Ms. Madueke have revived the scheme to avoid elections after a sobering meeting the president held last Thursday night with PDP governors and top party figures. The participants at the meeting were candid in conceding that the forthcoming presidential elections would not favor President Jonathan despite its postponement for six weeks.
A source close to former President Olusegun Obasanjo told SaharaReporters that the incumbent president’s machination to thwart elections was the provocation for a recent intensification of verbal warfare between Mr. Jonathan and ex-President Obasanjo. The latter has publicly accused Mr. Jonathan of plotting to stymie election now scheduled for March 28, the same way former President Laurent Gbagbo of Cote d’Ivoire caused a political crisis in his country after loosing an election, bringing his country close to a civil war.
The latest plan by Mr. Jonathan, several sources said, is driven by Ms. Alison-Madueke’s desperation. The Petroleum Minister is reportedly worried that she would not be able to avoid prosecution for several questionable deals in the oil sector that have catapulted her and her minions to billionaires. Her fear is reportedly heightened by the fact that she does not see the prospect of being granted asylum in any European or North American nation should she decide to flee abroad if Mr. Jonathan loses.
A source close to Mr. Jonathan revealed that First Lady Patience Jonathan has occasionally fumed and blamed Ms. Alison-Madueke of causing her husband’s popular unpopularity. http://saharareporters.com/2015/02/15/scheme-afoot-bribe-national-assembly-members-postpone-elections-again

FastShipping: As a matter of fact, the whole plan is flawed. The laundry room should not be anywhere near the kitchen or living room. The laundry room should be close to the bedrooms in the building. How can one bring out dirty clothes from the room and pass through the living room and kitchen before getting to the laundry room? He should scrapped the closet in-between the two small rooms and create a laundry room there. A closet can be re-created for the small room by cutting part of the kitchen space. Nice analysis, could you also be kind enough to critique this design, I offered up for some criticism recently and I got some very instructive ones, would not mind more of sure before actual construction. https://www.nairaland.com/2413088/3-bedroom-drawing-open-criticism |
