skimanski: As for the Visitors Toilet Opening In or out is up to you the owner. Depends on how you wish to live in it. Then for the Ante room, if you want it as an ante room and not a verandah/Entrance Porch, its also up to you. All I will want you to consider in that case is the window on that wall between the Living room and ante room, maybe the ante room reduces the Light and Air that comes through the window, anyway still your choice to make. Slightly more worrying is the Bedroom2, looks too small for me in scale, if you have more land space, I think it will be a Good idea to have more space in that room. Now most worrying for me is the Dinning. Seems too big in comparison to the Kitchen. You'd rather you give the space to the Kitchen than giving it to the Dinning. Apart from that, the guy has done a good Job. Kuddos to him. I just called it an ante room coz I hear others call it so, verandah/ entrance porch is more comfortable with me jo. I do not intend for it to be totally closed, use of protector maybe. That should not affect light and air flow that much, what do you think? Bedroom 2 is very small I admit, but the design is meant to a modest apartment. Its about 10x7 feet. I will review the dinning/ kitchen ratio as you have recommended. The width of the sitting room is only 12feet, what would you recommend the dinning be? the kitchen width is only 9feet. |

Thanks Escot. The kitchen varander will serve as a mini store and hold batteries for inverter installation etc. For the visitor's toilet, it's in the anteroom which will have some form of protection. I put it there because of situations in which you have people work in the compound who want to use the toilet and you don't want them within your building, this makes that possible. Thanks for your observation. |

All the guru in the house should please help to review and criticise the attached drawing. It's the draft plan for a 3 bedroom flat and can still be amended before sending it to an architect for a proper drawing. All inputs will be considered and appreciated. Gurus in the house and others with building experiences should also make recommendations.

Mine was when I was about 6 and my cousin about 7. One of us mistakenly touched the socket used for our TV back then and felt the electric shock (not sure who started it). Our conclusion was that the people in the TV set were calling us. So we took turns to touch the socket and felt the shock and then kept smiling that the people in the TV were calling us.
How did the bubble burst? We were having a discussion with a much older family friend and we shared our experience with him how the people in the TV were drawing us to come and join them inside the TV. After some interrogation he explained that it was an electric shock. We did not understand what he was saying neither did we care. In short we were waiting for NEPA to bring light to continue our adventure.
Luckily for us, an aunty over heard our discussion but did not interfere, she however told my parents. Omon see lecture that day. I did not still appreciate the gravity of the risk we took until much later in life. We however inferred from the lecture that what we were doing was bad and should not happen again. However that was not to be. A lot more still happened and still happen but I now knew what it was and why I should be careful. |

Politics › Suggest A New Name For Dr. Doyin Okupe by ojesymsym(op): 9:31am On Jan 08, 2014 |
It is no longer news that Dr. Doyin Okupe’s former name expired on the 1st of January, 2014 after he staked his name in a bet with APC that, should they exist beyond 2014 that he would no longer bear the name given to him by his parent. Considering the fact that the time has elapsed and APC survived contrary to his expectations, we expect him to tell us what his name should now be. As is common in various cultures in Nigeria, the 8th day is usually the day for naming ceremony, today being the 8th day of January is an appropriate day for the naming. I would therefore implore well meaning Nigerians to quickly suggest a name for him so that he can concentrate his energies on his official duties (Luckily for him, he did not stake his job). Please, the name has to be an appropriate and a befitting name. If APC Survives One Year, Don’t Call Me Okupe, Presidential Aide Boasts Apr, 24 2013, 10:04AM — siteadmin caption: Doyin Okupe By SaharaReporters, New York The Senior Special Assistant to President Goodluck Jonathan on Public Affairs, Dr. Doyin Okupe, on Tuesday described the merger of opposition political parties on the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC) as a weak association that would crumble and disappear by 2014, one year before the next general election. So confident is he of this that during a courtesy visit to THISDAY corporate offices in Lagos yesterday, he put his father’s name on the line. “If they don’t crumble and disappear by 2014, don’t call me Okupe,” he bragged. Okupe’s visit to THISDAY seemed to have been a public relations stunt that was carefully arranged either when the journalists went to lunch, or after Okupe had gagged them, because no professional asked him any questions following what seemed like a one-sided lecture. The self-described “attack lion” of President Goodluck Jonathan dismissed the view that the merger would rout the ruling Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the next election, calling the forces behind it unserious people that are incapable of causing a major upset in national politics. “Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Maj-Gen. Mohammadu Buhari are not serious- minded people; they are going round like people dancing in a market place,” he said, defiantly. “I expect that when you post an aggregate of people of that calibre who want to run government, by now they must have a policy statement on power, agriculture and employment and not just talking about PDP leaving. "Is it by mouth that they will run the nation? These are not serious-minded people. Can someone get your vote by using word of mouth that PDP should leave without a policy?” Okupe was hinging his political prediction on the projection that the president's joker, which is stable electricity, is attained by 2014, the opposition would be punctured and rendered ineffective. Specifically dismissing Tinubu, he held that the ACN chieftain has ridden roughshod over the South-west, but that Nigeria is bigger than that. “This is their first time out in national politics; alright, and let me give you some bad news: the relevance that ACN has in Nigerian politics is that they are a Yoruba party. That is what makes them relevant in politics and by dropping that toga, the party is dead. |
Politics › FG Gave Nollywood Money Sometime Ago Why Not Extend Same To ASUU by ojesymsym(op): 4:00pm On Nov 04, 2013 |
Its being four months now since the universities in Nigeria were closed down in the ongoing ASUU strike, since then government and ASUU have gone back and front without making any meaningful progress in their negotiation. It is an open secret that the standard of education is going bad by the day and does not seem to be improving, however I do not know if this total shutdown will be the catalyst that will make things change but I do know that for things to improve, we will all need to make sacrifices. The people at the receiving end of all of these are the students who do not really care whether the quality of education they get is of quality or not but want to quickly graduate and take the next step in life. My problem now with government in all of these is that they were willing to support Nollywood even though they have been able to build themselves without government support from scratch and also without even asking for support. Just a couple of months ago, they gave Nollywood NGR3Billion after an initial USD200million just before 2011 election, this looks like misplaced priorities for me. Well, just me thinking aloud. http://www.tribune.com.ng/news2013/index.php/en/component/k2/item/6545-fg-sets-up-n3bn-special-fund-for-nollywoodhttps://www.nairaland.com/739922/president-goodluck-johnathon-gives-200 |

Tukur Not A PDP Member, Says Baraje’s faction Asks INEC to de-register ‘Old’ PDP
Posted by: Our Reporter on September 3, 2013 in Exclusive Leave a comment
The Kawu Baraje-led faction of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has asked Indepenent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to de-register the Bamanga Tukur-led faction of the party.
Baraje said Tukur’s PDP failed to comply with Section 222(D) of the Nigerian Constitution, which requires a political party to notify the electoral umpire about an alteration in its constitution.
Section 222 (d) states; ” Any alteration in its (a party’s) registered constitution is also registered in the principal office of the Independent National Electoral Commission within thirty days of the making of such alteration.”
It maintained that Tukur is not a bona fide member of the party having been expelled by its National Executive Committee (NEC) in 2001. Baraje’s faction held that Tukur has yet to be properly re-admitted into the party let alone be its national chairman.
In its statement of claim obtained by Pointblanknews.com, the Baraje faction reminded the High Court of Lagos State that it was the 2009 PDP constitution that midwifed the party’s amended 2012 constitution.
“Evidence has surfaced to prove that strange clauses which were not part of the proposed amended were inserted into the original produced version of the 2012 constitution and those alterations were not approved by the party convention and the National Executive Committee thereby making the document a forged document which is invalid,” the faction told the court.
“The forged 2012 constitution was not equally filled before INEC as required by the constitution, thereby making the PDP constitution upon which the 2013 convention was held an invalid document and the outcome of that convention invalid, as it was held without a valid constitution,” they claimed.
“The proof of these evidence can be seen in the approved memo by the PDP NEC upon which the amendment was done in the 2012 and the original version of the PDP constitution filled with INEC will as well prove these violations.”
Justifying the impropriety of Tukur presiding over the party’s national convention, the faction drew the court’s attention to Tukur’s expulsion in 2001.
“Exactly on the 31 May, 2001,” said the statement, the PDP NEC after its meeting held in Abuja expelled eight members of the PDP in accordance with the PDP constitution which gives the NEC the powers to discipline NEC members who breaches the constitution.”
The statement explained that “they were expelled after NEC considered and adopted the report of the Iro Dan Musa-led PDP Disciplinary Committee.” The eight expelled members, recalled the statement, included Alhaji Bamanga Tukur, Don Etiebet, Asheik Jarma, Ume-Ezeoke, Emmanuel Ibeshi, (late) Harry Marshal and Gbenga Olawepo.
“Note that Article 10(b) iii of the PDP 2009 constitution and Article 8(17) of the 2012 amended constitution which holds that any member of the party who loses his membership by expulsion can only return to the party with the approval of the party executive at his ward, state and national levels, who shall give him a waiver,” narrated Baraje’s faction.
“Since the expulsion of Bamanga Tukur in 2001, he has not complied with the above requirement of the PDP constitution, meaning that his purported participation at the 2012 convention where he was elected was a fraud and invalid, as he is not yet a member of the party,” they held.
Baraje’s faction prayed the court to void the August 2013 convention of the party on the grounds of illegal delegates in the convention, and the arbitrary disqualification of duly elected delegates by the Screening Subcommittee of the National Convention Committee.
The camp urged the court not to turn a blind eye on of the party’s failure to comply with the provision of Section 85(1) of the Electoral Act which holds that, “a registered political party shall give INEC at least 21 days notice of any convention, congress, conference or meeting convened for the purpose of electing members of its executive committees, and other governing bodies.”
Based on the provision, the Baraje faction held, the PDP NEC ratified the conduct of the 2013 national convention in its meeting of August 22, and the congress running nine days later, on August 31, the party ran foul of the required 21 days notice required to inform INEC about the exercise.
The faction also claimed to have evidence on unelected delegates from the South West Zonal Caretaker Committee participating and voting in the 2013 national convention. This, the group held, contravened Section 85(3) of the 2010 Electoral Act, which states; “the election of members of the executive committee or other governing body of a political party, including the election to fill a vacant position in any of these bodies, shall be conducted in a democratic manner and allowing for all members of the party or duly elected delegates to vote in support of a candidate of their choice.”
They also claimed that the decision of the screening subcommittee to conduct the screening of delegates less than 24 hours before the convention, falls short of democratic conduct as it does not afford disqualified delegates to seek redress.
By dorning vests canvassing votes for Prince Uche Secondus as deputy national chairman of the PDP at the convention ground, the group held that supporters of Secondus violated Article K, Page 8, of the PDP Code of Conduct for Conventions.
The code states; “a party member, aspirant, candidate or agent shall not canvass for votes within the vicinity of the congress venue or party primary convention.” http://pointblanknews.com/pbn/exclusive/tukur-not-a-pdp-member-says-barajes-faction-asks-inec-to-de-register-old-pdp/http://www.ngrguardiannews.com/national-news/131844-barajes-faction-asks-inec-to-deregister-tukurs-pdp |
