Politics / Re: INEC Registers Over 5 Million Eligible Voters In Kano by olaoreawofele: 4:21pm On Sep 05, 2018
This country needs restructing. Just to keep the advantage in politics, they breed a population that their resources cannot sustain and also allow foreigners into the country. The bubble will burst someday.

Politics / Re: Peter Obi: Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala Cried To Governors Not To Share Money, They Did by olaoreawofele: 12:21pm On Aug 30, 2018
First, I see Obi either trying to get noticed or positioning Okonjo-Iweala for 2023.
Secondly, I think Obi should not just criticise govt borrowing but proffer alternative funding model to fund the govt programs. The Govt is forced to borrow to meet elections promises and of which it is already being judged not done enough. The govt is borrowing because the past regimes looted everything, and what sources of funds should the current govt access in order not to be labeled as failure finally.

Aonkuuse:
Former governor of Anambra State, Peter Obi has revealed that state governors during the last administration shared billions among themselves.

Obi said this on Wednesday morning while analysing the state of the economy on Channels TV.

He recalled how the former Minister of Finance, Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala begged the State Governors at the time to save for the future in the Sovereign Wealth Fund (SWF), a programme that was meant to save fund for the nation, but most of them refused and shared the money.

Obi said, “Over the years, things have gone wrong, I remember Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala crying every day to governors to save these monies and invest in the Sovereign Wealth Fund (SWF), a programme that was meant to save fund for the nation to cater for a rainy day as presently experienced.

“All of us disagreed and said let’s share it. some governors even went to court to get the federal government to allow them to share the money among themselves. ”

Further speaking, Obi called on the federal government to stop borrowing as they keep plunging Nigeria into poverty.

“Borrowing for consumption will not grow the economy, it gets to a state where you can’t control it. The amount being used to service our debt today is high, we use almost 60% to service them and we are borrowing more, it’s escalating.

“World Bank and IMF have warned Nigeria against rising debt.

“You are borrowing money and the issues that it was supposed to affect is not coming down. Unemployment is worsening. Our unemployment rate moved from 14.8% to 18.8% this year, which means more people have lost their jobs.

“The economy is shrinking, the entire capital votes this year ‘is’ borrowed, and we have existing debts already. Poverty is increasing, out of school children have moved from 10 million to almost 12 million,” Obi added.

Crime / Re: How Co-tenant Organised Robbery Attack Against Neighbour In Lagos. by olaoreawofele: 5:38pm On Aug 29, 2018
Please tell the oga police that those who reported suspicious neighbours in the past paid a heavy price. Even when you know your neighbour is into crime, better mind your business because the police will leak the info and you might get into trouble. When the police cleanse rid itself of uniform criminals, we will report ununiform criminals to them.

hitng:
How Co-Tenant Organised Robbery Attack Against Neighbour In Lagos

Police in Lagos have revealed how a tenant conspired with other members of his armed gang to attack his co-tenant. The incident happened in Ebute- Ikorodu, a suburb of the State.

The suspect, identified as Seun Hammed Olayinka ‘a.k.a D J Shy’, was alleged to have conspired with his gang members to rob a co-tenant named Omotoyosi Bello in their residence located at 32 Ajose Street, Ebute, Ikorodu.

The Commissioner of Police Lagos Command, Edgal Imohimi made the disclosure at a press briefing on Monday.

The police boss said the gang attacked the victim on 9th of August 2018, at about8.30pm and dispossessed her of an iPhone valued at N150,000.00.

According to him, while Hammed, the mastermind of the attack escaped and luck ran against three members of the gang who took part in the robbery attack as they were arrested by the command’s raider team.

Edgal noted that the arrest was made through a painstaking investigation conducted by the raider team following a complaint by the victim to the police.

He identified the arrested suspects as 29-year-old Solomon Jacob, 32-year-old Ifeanyi Chifalue and Akinola Micheal, aged 24.

The CP added that one English revolver pistol and three live ammunition were recovered from the suspects including the stolen iPhone 8. He said all the suspects will be charged to court soon.

“When I ask you the question, do you know your neighbour? Usually, at the end of every press briefing, it isn’t just a mere word rather it is a question we must ask ourselves all the time.

If Omotoyosi Bello knew that her neighbour and co-tenant at no 32, Ajose Street, Ebute Ikorodu, by name Seun Hammed Olayinka ‘DJ Shy’ is a member of an armed robbery gang, perhaps she might have given him up to the police. But unfortunately for her, the said Seun, a Disc Jockey (DJ) organised a 3-man-armed robbery gang to attack and rob her of her iPhone valued One Hundred and Fifty Thousand Naira only on the 9th of August, 2018 at about 8:30 pm.

However, through a painstaking investigation conducted by the Command’s Raider team, three of the robbers who took part in the operation were arrested and the iPhone recovered. While the said Seun Hammed Olayinka, a co-tenant to the victim, who staged the robbery is currently at large,” the CP said.

Someday, Nigerians will know the more important attributes of leadership and will not accept whatever imperialist tell us as the yardstick. This same Trump said Buhari is the most honest African president because Buhari paid humongous money to buy US weapons. President Trump speaks with many sides of the mouth so much that Americans would believe even a con man quicker than Trump. Knowing the type of person Trump is, it is amazing that Nigerians take his opinion of Buhari seriously. I suppose this is a divided house.

Even if Buhari is not warmth, if he leads with integrity and does not steal public funds and does not have the type of sex scandals like Trump,

Politics / Re: We Did Not Budget N6 Billion To Feed The Police For 2019 Election – INEC by olaoreawofele: 2:05pm On Aug 24, 2018
What is the estimated number of this personnel? 75% OF 6B is 4.5B. The fraud in INEC is stinking.

Opinionated:
The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has denied reports that went viral stating that it had budgeted N6 billion for feeding policemen during the 2019 election. The joint committees on INEC at the National Assembly are currently working on INEC's budget and are expected to handover the appropriation Committee soon.

Next is INEC's statement on this matter:

INEC did not budget N6 billion to feed the police

There is no budget head for feeding the police in the INEC Election Budget

What we do have is a budget head for feeding all election personnel on election days and it covers all INEC permanent and ad hoc staff, presiding officers, supervisors, monitors, collation and returning officers and all security personnel on election duty including the police, NSDC, Immigration, Prison & NDLEA officers, etc numbering in excess of a million people. The estimated budget for this is more than 25% less than what is being bandied around and it covers all elections including bye elections, re runs, run offs and court ordered elections.

Politics / Re: Full Speech Of Saraki’s World Press Conference On NASS Invasion By DSS by olaoreawofele: 3:31pm On Aug 08, 2018
Buhari made the fire about to consume him. He does not think ahead and neither is he strategic.

Juliusmalema:
Below is Saraki’s full speech:

It is a matter of record that yesterday, lawmakers and staff of the National Assembly were prevented from entering the National Assembly Complex by heavily armed security agents of the Department of State Services (DSS). All entries to the Complex were blocked. The National Assembly, the seat of democracy in Nigeria, was under lockdown. Senators and Members of the House of Representatives were prevented from gaining access.

2. The ensuring standoff was a show of shame that played itself out over several hours in full view of the country. In no circumstances should this have happened. And we as a nation reaped the bitter fruits instantaneously, as evident in media images relayed around the world, images that shame us as a democratic nation. The siege was also an act of cowardice by those seeking to carry out an illegal impeachment of the leadership of the Senate in flagrant disregard of the law. People who seek control at all costs, by whatever means, never minding the injury to democratic norms.

3. I have to say that this is not about me – Abubakar Bukola Saraki as an individual. It is not about Ike Ekweremadu, nor is it about Yakubu Dogara. I am speaking for my colleagues when I say that this is about the soul of Nigeria, what we represent as a country, and our standing in the comity of nations. This is a country where so much is expected of us, so many rungs of the ladder that we are supposed to have ascended as a nation. Instead we are wallowing in impunity and illegal show of force, all of which retard our progress.

4. This is most disheartening. I don’t get any joy in saying: I said so. I don’t. However, some of you may recall that about two years ago, I stated that there was a government within this government, to a purpose that was not in the interest of what the people voted for. I said it then, and now we are beginning to see the manifestations of that government within a government. It beats one’s imagination how the head of an agency could have authorized the brazen assault on the legislature that we saw yesterday. Despite the threat to our lives, we shall continue to fight impunity and injustice in this country.

5. Happily, by the actions that Nigerians took yesterday, they demonstrated our strong resolve as a nation not to give ground to oppression. The legislature, more than any other institution in this country, more than any other arm of government, represents the will of the people. We are elected by the people, and an assault on the legislature is an assault on the people of Nigeria. The forcible shutdown of the legislature was an unconscionable assault on a national institution, and thanks to all your efforts, the aggressors have been put to shame.

6. The resistance mounted by staff of the National Assembly, my colleagues in both chambers and Civil Society Organisations (CSOs) who refused to leave the entrance of this Complex until the siege was broken, strengthens my faith in the people of this country. The rain fell, the sun rose, but Nigerians stood their ground in defence of democracy. With the strength of will demonstrated by everyone against unwarranted and unconstitutional militaristic might, the siege could not stand.

7. By this, we have shown that Nigerians can resist government within government in whatever guise, and this is humbling for me. Those who sought to attack the National Assembly under my leadership for their selfish ends have only affirmed my belief in this country. They attempted to execute an illegal impeachment of the leadership of the Senate without the backing of the law, but they faltered. I am confident that, together, we shall always defeat acts of unconstitutionality. The rule of law shall always prevail.

8. I want to thank Nigerians, Senators, Members of the House of Representatives and National Assembly Staff, for standing up to be counted for democracy during yesterday’s siege. I thank the thousands who monitored the situation on radio, television and social media, voicing their outrage at the siege, thereby sending a clear message to those that hatched the plot that the Nigerian public would not buy this act of gangsterism using instruments of state such as the DSS.

9. I also thank the international community – particularly the European Union – and the international press, for their prompt reactions to the invasion of the National Assembly. CSOs and Socio-cultural groups were emphatic in their statements during the crisis, and we very much appreciate their vigilance.

10. Among the many that come up for special mention, I believe that Honourable Boma Goodhead, a member of the House of Representatives, stands out. She looked a masked security operative in the eye and dared him to shoot. She let it be known that Nigerians would not stand for the barricade at the National Assembly, that we would not be cowed. It was another pointer to what is possible in this country when women take their place in leadership.

11. I applaud all who kicked against the atrocity and who stood firm until sanity prevailed. I am proud of how everyone conducted themselves in what was no doubt a tense standoff. The principled stance and defiant reactions to the ugly incident, proved crucial to the failure of the plot. This is what we have been saying about the power of the people. The role of the people in defending democracy is paramount.

12. I thank the Acting President, Prof. Yemi Osinbajo, for his handling of the situation we were all confronted with yesterday. His decisive action went a long way towards restoring confidence. It sent a powerful message – that the DSS cannot be recklessly deployed against institutions of our democracy. The path of leadership is not by party, and we must commend it wherever it is found. Mr. Acting President did the right thing. However, the damage control so far does not address the question of how this atrocity happened in the first place.

13. This is an incident concerning which we have it on good authority that it has been in the planning for months, and yet it was allowed to happen. How is it that such an atrocity was not prevented? How is it that the masterminds were not deterred? Very serious questions remain that can only be answered by a full investigation. We call for an investigation, and we demand that all perpetrators are brought to book. We owe it to ourselves to ensure that such a situation never occurs again. Many agencies have abused their powers and acted outside the ambit of the law on occasion. Where abuses occur, similar actions must be taken immediately and full investigation instituted.

14. I must say that when we fought for Change, we could not have envisaged a scenario such as unfolded yesterday – an atmosphere where people cannot tolerate dissent, or mere differences of opinion as to the future of our dear country. This is not the Change we fought for. We did not fight for instruments of state to be used to oppress Nigerians and their lawmakers. I know that I, certainly, did not fight just so the legislature could be undermined and subjected to this onslaught.

15. There are many lessons to be drawn from the ugly incident we all witnessed yesterday. For one, government must ensure that security agencies remain neutral and act in line with the position of the constitution as well as their enabling laws. Heads of Agencies should be accountable, and those who step out of line must be held responsible for their actions. Enough with impunity. Enough with the reckless and senseless deployment of militaristic force. Enough.

16. In this dark cloud, we can see the silver lining, and that silver lining is the commitment of Nigerians to defending their hard-won democracy. I am more than encouraged by the strength, the determination and the resolve of ordinary Nigerians to see to it that democracy survives and thrives in this country. I am also strengthened by the determination of the media to report and analyse the truth as they see it.

17. I want to reassure Nigerians that, on our part, we remain committed to working for a country governed by the rule of law. Our desire is to have a society where there will be equity and justice, not oppression. We stand committed to doing our utmost as lawmakers to ensure that the responsibility and functionality of governance are met. Although we are on annual break, we are daily reviewing the situation and are alive to the responsibility to take action as necessary. Unfortunately, yesterday’s shutdown prevented us from meeting with INEC, as scheduled, to address funding concerns. We will continue to look into the matter. In the spirit of that, we also appeal to Mr. President to sign the 2018 Electoral Act Amendment Bill which has been sent for his assent.

18. I remain confident in the support of my colleagues and their focus on the job at hand, which is to serve the Nigerian people. My confidence is unshaken. I remain committed to the success of the historic 8th National Assembly, and to the continued progress of our count.

Summary
INTRODUCTION:
This appeal borders on the propriety or otherwise of quashing a charge.
FACTS:
This appeal is brought against the decision of the High court of  Lagos State delivered by O. Atinuke Ipaye, J. on October 6, 2016 in Charge No ID/2168C/2015 in which the learned trial Judge upheld preliminary objections of the 1st and 2nd Respondents and of the 3rd-10th Respondents, and quashed the charges brought against them, holding inter alia that no prima facie case of stealing had been made out on the proof of evidence to justify proceeding with the 11 count Amended Charge.

The facts leading to this appeal, in summary, are as follows:

A petition was written to the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) by one Ms. Folashade Ogundare, a donee of a power of attorney from Oyefubo Jokotade Estate Resources Ltd. The said Company was the holder and owner of a Certificate of occupancy issued by Lagos State, dated 17/6/1996 and registered as No. 75 at page 75 in volume 1996AE at the Lands Registry Lagos. It was alleged in the said petition that ten hectares of land belonging to Oyetubo Jokotade Estate Resources Ltd that had been assigned by the company to other persons, was allegedly unlawfully assigned to the 1st and 2nd Respondents. Upon investigation, the Appellant, on 11/3/2016 by an Amended Information, preferred an 11-count charge against the Respondents, alleging conspiracy to steal, stealing land belonging to lawful assignees of Oyetubo Jokotade Estate Resources Ltd and forgery of payment receipts and other documents. Before the arraignment, the 1st and 2nd defendants, filed a preliminary objection in opposition to their arraignment on grounds of jurisdiction. The 3rd-10th Respondents also filed a preliminary objection. The preliminary objections variously sought to quash the charge on the ground that the prosecution had no fiat to prosecute, the matter was a civil matter, that stealing did not fall under the EFCC Act and that no prima facie case had been made out by the prosecution against the Respondents. The Appellant filed its counter affidavits in opposition to both preliminary objections. The contention of the 1st and 2nd Respondents was that they had purchased and paid for ten hectares of land from the principal members of the "Onibeju Royal Family" of Lagos who are the shareholders and the directors of Oyetubo Jokotade Estate Resources Ltd for the total sum of N150, 000,000.00 and that both parties duly executed a Deed of Assignment in this regard. The said company name was an acronym from Oyefubo, Banjoko and Okun-Ade families which make up the Onibeju Royal Family. The 3rd-10th Respondents were alleged to be principal members of the Onibeju Royal Family. The learned trial Judge, suo motu directed parties to address the Court as to whether land is capable of being stolen. Upon being addressed by respective Counsel on the matter as directed, and upon hearing arguments on the preliminary objections raised by the Respondents, the learned trial Judge upheld the Preliminary objections and quashed the 11 count Amended Charge.
Dissatisfied with the ruling of the lower Court, the Appellant lodged this appeal to the Court of Appeal.

ISSUES:
The appeal was determined on the Appellant's issues viz:

1. Whether having regard to the facts of this case as contained in the proof of evidence, the lower Court was right in striking out the amended information dated 11th day of March, 2016 on the grounds that a prima facie case has not been made out against the Respondents.
2. Whether at the stage of hearing the objection to the sufficiency of evidence attached to the proof of evidence, the lower Court was right in evaluating and believing the contents of the statement of the Defendants contained in the proof of evidence thereby arriving at the decision that there was no prima facie case made out against the Defendants.
3. Whether having regard to Section 260(2) of the Administration of Criminal Justice Law of Lagos State 2011, an objection to the sufficiency of evidence attached to the proof of evidence ought to be raised before the close of the prosecution's case.

DECISION/HELD:
On the whole, the appeal succeeded in part. The Ruling delivered by the trial Court was set aside. It was further ordered that the Respondents be arraigned in respect of counts 3-11 of the Amended Charge.

He knew Buhari will not allow the lootocracy that PDP members were used to and he was right. They are leaving because they are so fixed in PDP ways and character that any government that doesn't share the national cake like GEJ and PDD cannot keep them.

Ignorance? Hmmm. History is the best teacher. Please read about fallen empires.

Newmanluckyman:
...you are ignorant. You can't expect a country like US that her defence budget alone are greater than all other powers put together. US defence budget is over $600billion while Russia is less than $100b while China is little above $100b. You need money to fight wars. Even if China and Russia upgrades, the US will do that by 10 times. US is here to stay and that's all.
Foreign Affairs / Re: Doomsday Bunkers: How America Will Survive If It Comes Under Attack (video). by olaoreawofele: 12:40pm On Jul 30, 2018
Admittedly the US is well fortified and prepared. But no empire reins forever. The clock is ticking for the US. Guess what, at the appointed hour, the US will rupture from within like all empires that are so heavily fortified. Like Gorbachev like Trump. That is the equation.
Politics / Re: How President Buhari Destroyed APC Through Oshiomhole - Reno Omokri by olaoreawofele: 3:07pm On Jul 27, 2018
Reno must be noticed by force. Wetin concern am with APC internal politics. Has he finished wailing for his PDP?

Kingsmeal:
Reno Omokri, a former aide to ex-President Goodluck Jonathan has accused President Muhammadu Buhari of using Adams Oshiomhole to destroy the All Progressives Congress, APC, with “his own hand.”

Omokri, a fierce critic of the current administration said Buhari’s endorsement of Adams Oshiomhole as the National Chairman of APC destroyed the party.
Oshiomhole some weeks ago emerged as the party’s National Chairman.

Reno however faulted Oshiomhole's emergence as party chairman, saying unionism was different from partisan politics.

In a tweet, the former Presidential aide wrote:

“Buhari destroyed APC with his own hand. How could he bring a labour leader to head his party? Unionism is a different kettle of fish from partisanship. Labour leaders order union workers about.

“A party chairman builds consensus by giving and taking. Oshiomhole was a huge mistake!”

Reno made the allegations at a time Oshiomhole has been unable to unite the party after he had before his emergence promised so.

No fewer than 15 senators of the ruling All Progressives Congress, APC had on Tuesday, defected from the party. The defectors cited crisis and factions as the reasons for their defection, saying they cannot continue to pursue their political careers under the ruling party.
Similarly, a total of 37 members of the House of Representatives announced their official defection from the All Progressives Congress, APC. While 33 moved to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) 4 moved to another party.

Unfortunately, there is hardly a woman who doesn't become rude and arrogant to a hubby with lower income. Forget the window dressing that portrays a happy family you see outside.

They should publish the reports asap and stop playing politics. This approach will make it easy for the government to label the report political and claim they are sponsored by the opposition. It is not yet time for this protest.

Buhari has nothing to do with P&G's problem. The problem of P&G is within the company and its global leadership. Moreover, the products are not selling because of competition. Aside, more companies have made inroads by establishing factories producing same products P&G sells. It is no secret that Nigerians love the foreign made diapers.

I have no problem with anyone voting Buhari because of tribal or religious reasons

But voting Buhari because of his policies and because you think he's the best amongst others candidates shows that you are either still eating your mother's food, or you don't have any sense left in you.

P&G have been in business here for more than 2 decades, and a new plant commissioned in 2017 is being put up for sale in 2018? Na wa angry

Religion / Re: Oyedepo: 'Plateau Killings, There Is An Islamization Agenda, War Looming'(Video) by olaoreawofele: 9:50am On Jun 29, 2018
The Plateau killings have long been there. By now, all the Plateau people should have been fully Islamized if the submissions of Oyedepo is right. I read what Dr Kumuyi wrote and I give him kudos for the depth and sincerity. It takes more than one side to bring a war. The aggressors and the inciters. Bishop Oyedepo is inciting war and I wonder if he will hand his children guns to fight if the wars come. May God forbid us going into a needless war. There is no doubt that the government is not doing enough to stop killings in the land and not in the Plateau alone. But inciting wars and especially along the religious line is extremely appalling.

aminulive:
@POLITICSNGR

General Overseer of the Living faith church alias Faith Tabernacle, Bishop David Oyedepo has reacted to the recent killings in the Plateau state, alleging that there was an 'Islamization Agenda'.

Oyedepo also laid heavy curses on the perpetrators of the killings adding that if nothing is done soon, Nigeria would sink into a 'religious war'.

He stated further that the attacks going on in the north were only occurring in Christian communities, saying there was 'an Islamization agenda'. He described the Fulani Herdsmen, Boko Haram and the 'Authorities backing them' as 'Troublers of the Church'

PoliticsNGR has gotten footage of the Bishop's fiery speech.

Politics / Re: Plateau Crisis, Conspiracy Against Federal Govt ―bauchi CAN by olaoreawofele: 8:54am On Jun 29, 2018
You can't seem to accept that the religious prisms you use may be wrong. Nobody is right all the time. The killings in Plateau is not particularly religious.
kaorama:
Useless people. I have always known that any body speaking out for you so called Christians in the north is wasting his time. When it comes to politics you always support your killers. So why will those in the South keep wasting their time? Where is Gowon and why has he not spoken out against the continued killing of his people? The same people he fought for during the civil war have turned against his own blood. Hunger has finished some of you and hence you speak from both sides of your mouth just to get daily bread. Keep talking rubbish. Wonder where you were during Good luck time; whether you shared similar opinion about the Boko Haram being an attempt to discredit GEJ govt.

Insightful. God help us. This country will know peace when we get to the point God is taking us.

ebbo:
For those of us that ply the road to Jos often, we understand what it takes to get trapped in those senseless violence, so much that it has become the usual practice that on approaching Jos, we send out a call to those living inside it to find out whether it is safe to proceed.

Some years ago, my sister and uncle were caught up in that unfortunate chaos. They were fortunate enough to escape (out of luck) to the Muslim quarter of Bukuru town. If they had escaped to the wrong location or belong to a different faith, their fate will completely be different.

In the university in 2008, my room-mate had the unimaginable misfortune of losing his father in the conflict. His parents were caught in the unfortunate chaos, father and mother separated. The fact he was a Yoruba man did not apply. All his killers cared was that he was a Muslim and therefore guilty and condemned to die in their hands.

At Secondary School in the early 2000s, I was moved to tears when a Fulani classmate narrated how he lost three generations of his family in Heipang. Their family had lived there for generations only for them to be wiped out in a single surge of violence. His escape was only a miracle. His mother who was lucky to be away for a wedding fainted at the sight of him because his funeral rites were already conducted in absentia, having thought to have shared the terrible fate of his other family members.

All the individuals mentioned in the above instances may be reading this post. I have known real people who have been slaughtered while passing through Jos. I could be one of them, given a different quirk of fate. My family members could also be victims, God forbid!

As a result, there is the tendency for someone like me to see the conflict through those lenses, that my people are the victims and the 'other side' is the perpetrator. The same way someone whose local community in Plateau live in constant fear of invasion and attack by armed marauders, where local people could not farm their lands in peace or carry on with life in security and safety will see his people as sole victims and others as perpetrators.

That is how one-sided, mutually rejecting narratives set back the wheel of reconciliation. The crises in Plateau is so muddled up that it is now completely detached from its root causes. It first began as local politics borne out of ethnic and sectarian political struggle between the so called Hausa settlers and the native Beroms in Jos North.

For long, the Fulani, who have a long history of cultural intercourse with those local communities are kept out of those conflicts. It was until the Shendam anti-Fulani pogrom that the Fulani was brought into the equation, and from that, cycles of reprisals and counter-reprisals have so distorted the reality on ground, bringing a dominant ethnic and sectarian narrative to the fore.

That makes peace even difficult. Because all sides have genuine grievances, all sides have genuine complaints of victimhood. The first step towards peace is not in apportioning blame, the first step towards peace is in accepting that all sides have a point and that peace is possible only through dialogue and not further confrontation.

The Jos conflict is different from Boko Haram or even rural banditry where the enemy can be criminalized and targeted. In an ethnic or sectarian conflict, you cannot criminalize an entire ethnic or sectarian group. And above all, you cannot enforce peace by sheer use of force. Force should only be used to create an enabling environment for reconciliation and dialogue.

I know some may feel force alone could do this, but if that's possible, we will not be where we are today. Obasanjo declared a state of emergency but the killing still continued. Since 1999, the Plateau conflict continues under four successive Nigerian presidents, two Muslim, two Christians. If it were a Muslim conspiracy, the two Christian presidents would have stopped it. Likewise if it were a Christian conspiracy,
