Hello everyone, thanks for the efforts here. I come from the student visa branch to ask if one can submit multiple visit visa applications, e.g two parents, through the new portal. What other advice would you give for packaging good visit visa applications for 9ja parents of Canadian citizens? Thank you.

HI Chief Osemigho,

I would suggest a group application for the Canadian's parent.

I believe this would be easier and faster for the officers to review than it being reviewed separately and maybe by different visa officers. This does not mean applying for father and mother separately is harmful, but I think a group application is more seamless, so both are together in one file.

The Canadian can apply for his/her parent as a representative on the new IRCC portal, and I believe the application would be faster with this approach.

It does not really matter. Application that takes longer time can also come with refusal. The best thing is to do your best to package your application very well and be positive towards a good response.

You can do your bit in ordering your GCMS notes, send periodic reminders and keep hope alive. Too much of worry is not even healthy.

DHL are the ones to chase. You will need to call DHL customer care that your passport is ready for collection so they should go pick up also chase them by e-mail except you did not pay for a two way courier.

My younger sister is presently in the United States due to deliver of her baby anytime from now, and my mum is there with her also.

The issue is that she has been trying to get a date for her husband for an interview but has not been able to secure one. Her husband has never been to the united states before. He has a previous USA refusal some years back when he was attempting to visit his sister for her graduation, who is currently a US citizen.

The above is the summary details of the present situation.

Please has anyone attending University of New Brunswick being able to pay their tuition via CIBC? Trying to pay from my UBA account but the transaction keeps getting declined.

I have tried with different amounts but no particular reason given for the decline.

The school has communicated that the preferred payment channel is CIBC.

Please help urgently.

* Check with your bank to be sure you are within your credit limit and there are no restrictions.

* Alternatively, if that does not work, a trusted person in Canada can help you pay with his/ her Canadian card.

* If the two above are not feasible, try form A at your bank.. Incase, you are using Form A option, you would need to select Bank wire option "under payment option" on UNB international student pay web and complete the process. A reference code and details will be generated, that is what you would fill on your form at the bank.

I really wish we have answers. I submitted my application September 17. Did my biometrics since February 3 and till now NOTHING.

1. Have you applied for your GCMS notes.

2. Send a concise e-mail to the MP of the region of your school to help you follow up but make sure you put all your info on the mail i.e application number, UCI, Passport number, Nationality, Date of Birth etc. to receive a fast response.

3. Keep sending periodic reminders to IRCC via webform. I don't really believe in bombarding immigrations with e-mails. maybe twice a week.

Hello all, please am in need of answers because am about applying for visitor visa for myself/toddler and study permit for my 2girls, now....
1) since this is a family reunification because my husband is a student in Canada, am I still expected to input date of arrival and departure? If yes, is using my husband study permit date which expire 2024 the right thing to do since my kids will be accompanying.

2) still on the dates, what is best to fill for family reunification since his study visa expires 2024 April

3) I don't have any travel history, how do I tackle this, thou I swore an affidavit of fact that I will return with my spouse, and also hoping to leverage my spouse travel history to promise replicating his attitude of respecting the rules of not over staying

4) can the application be done together or separately.

Pls do help am confuse.

1. You will need to adhere to the visitor visa conditions to apply for a visitor visa. You would need to put a length of time that would appear reasonable and would not cause the visa officer to doubt that you are coming back home. For instance, if you have a job, a three weeks vacation to see your husband or a maximum of one month might appear reasonable. But, anything too far beyond that might cause the officer to be wondering how you can afford to be away for that long, and maybe you don't have anything to make you come back home.

I suggest that you apply for the spousal open work permit instead. You can apply for a Social Insurance Number (SIN), apply for jobs and support your husband financially in Canada. Also, you do not need to prove that you have a job to apply for a spousal open work permit since you have a husband who is legally in Canada as a student. But the case is different with a visitor visa. With a visitor visa, you would not be able to work based on the visit visa conditions.

2. It is addressed in question one above. The length of time of your study for (a Spousal Open Work Permit) will be limited to the duration of his study permit. He can then apply for PGWP upon completion of his studies and then PR; with that, the immigration status of you guys' changes, but you will still be there legally.

3. Travel history is a factor for a visitor visa, but approval can still be granted if proof of home ties is sufficiently explained. Still, it is much better if you go for a Spousal open work permit, but you would need to prove means of financial support. Re-application will start your application from the scratch. It is better to wait since they have given you a specific response.

Please I need help, how do I get IRCC to send biometric request for my kids who are 14 &15 years old. I mistakenly clicked that I had it done while filling their forms. Now this resulted to them not having biometrics done since 24th March 2022 when I submitted their and also application till date no response from IRCC. The MP told me today that my kids need biometrics as being informed by the IRCC when they requested to know about my application. This is shocking to me as I didn’t realize this mistake earlier.
NOW, pleasehow do I get IRCC to send me the biometric request . Should I withdraw the application and start all over again.I am so confused right now.

I am 1 year old in canada as a student without my kids it’s so hard. I tried to apply for my kids visit visa last December 2nd 2021 months through GCkey and no response from IRCC till March 2022 when I found about this new portal and then applied march 24,2022. I have not withdrawn the application with GC key .Please should I withdraw it too.I am loosing it. I need help. I need to have my kids with me .

1. When you submitted their application in December last year on GC key, were they not instructed to go for biometrics? I am presuming biometrics should have been done in your first application (December 2021) for them.?

2. Cross-check their UCI number on GC Key and the UCI on the IRCC New portal; are they the same numbers?

Yes, they said when I had Biometricsin 2021, they gave me a document which I ought to bring with me for PPR submission. But since I didn't have it, I need to pay almost 9000 naira.
Now, from what you have said, the 9000 was for nothing.

That amount is for transmission fee but what i am not sure of is if the transmission fee is still 9,000 naira. I am not aware they collect that physically at VFS office. What i know is that the amount is paid to a designated VFS bank account.

Where you given any evidence of payment?

This means I ought not to pay 9000 at Lekki VFS.
Also, they shouldn't have asked that I send it via DHL to Kenya when it can be processed in Lagos or Abuja.
Do you have an idea on how to track it.
I wonder why they put me through this stress and collected money from me for no reason.

I took my passport, Biometrics letter and the PPR letter to Lagos VFS on the 22nd of April.
They asked I pay about 9,000 naira because I didn't come with a form initially issued when I had Biometrics in 2021.
They later redirected me to DHL to send my passport and other documents to Kenya.
Could you advise why so?
I see people submitting at Lagos VFS why was mine different.
Would appreciate your feedback.

You are not supposed to submit your document physically. The only acceptable means of passport collection ( once your passport is requested by IRCC) is by courier dispatch. Send through DHL to your desired VFS either Lagos or Abuja.

Based on IRCC guidelines, applicants who plan to visit for a duration of 6months or less generally do not need a medical exam except the person plans to work.

I sent my passport to Lagos VFS Apr 7 2022
Received my stamped passport Apr 27 2022

It took approximately 13 working days. Excluding the Easter holidays.


Note: All passports sent to Lagos VFS are being transferred and stamped in Abuja. Hence the reason why passport sent directly to Abuja VFS are stamped and received between 1-5 working days.

Congratulations. What passport photo they did use on your visa because I noticed from my application that canada is not asking those of us with usa visa for passport photo.

Canada visa does not come with a passport photo like that of the USA.

Your contact MP should be the one in the region where you are going for the convention since thats the destination of visit.

However, i would agree with ami213 - i think you should exercise a little patience for reasons (1) the application has not passed standard processing times (2) Though, it is time bound but there is still ample time between now and July (3) It is also to avod raising some doubts in the minds of the visa or processing officer as to the intents of visits especially when reminders are coming too early.

I would advise you give it till at least first week of June then you can do a follow up with the MP and even order for your GCMS notes if decision has not yet come by then.

Hopefully, you have a decision soon, just keep hope alive.

You can also try sending an e-mail to the member of parliament (MP) of the region to assist you in following up. Although, MP do not have influence in fastracking the applications but most times the immigration authorities tend to give them status update of the stage of the application as at date of enquiry.

Make sure you state all details concisely so the MP can understand it is timebound such that they can read your mail within few minutes and get your message.

In the event an information is sent to a wrong visa office, it would be rerouted to the appropricate visa office processing the application of the applicant. You can raise webform to Lagos and Nairobi.

I dont think anyone can tell the time frame when decision will be made on a visit visa application becuase no two application is the same. The current processing time from Nigeria is 102 days. Funny enough, it can even take longer and it can also take just few weeks depending on the application.

I would say just try to put forward a strong application and hope for the best since we are not privy to thier internal workings.

Plan to apply on the new IRCC Portal. Watch this and see if you can replicate some clues for your siblings.

Though the video is for parents but i guess it should help to some extent.

I think you are good to go with the evidence you mentioned. You can also draft a confirmation of invitation yourself and sign just to affirm you are inviting him/her but the one issued from the school is key.
