Good afternoon everyone. Pls I got admitted to the university of Regina and the agent my dad that’s contracted to do this from the start asked me what course I want and I said medicine. But when admission came out this is what I saw.
The confusion right now is he said I should write SOP but right now I’m confused on what to write SOP on if I’m writing it on Premed or kinesiology and health studies.
I finished secondary school last year and I’m 20 yrs old
You will be writing on your course, Pre medicine, but your SOP should mirror the broader courses you will be taking under the Faculty of Kinesiology & Health Studies.

One way to approach this is to look at your course contents and try to identify the areas lacking in Nigeria's health system, and you can use that to your advantage to be an area you intend to add value to the Nigerian health sector and the health benefits

One point may be that your research may be looking at human movements and disability, how these movement patterns are changed, and the long-term consequences on our health. These can be joint problems, muscle problems which an average Nigerian experiences daily due to stress or areas like Arthritis common with most older adults and looking at the best guidance to treat this ailment.

I would say you try to identify as much as possible what you will learn, research and the current practice in the Canadian health system. You will aim to identify the aspect not yet available in Nigeria and use that to your advantage, more like your readiness to see how the quality of life of the average Nigerian can be improved and reduce mental stress.

Success!

Sure, why not! Its same IRCC.

Kurukuru:
If you look it, most tourist application on the old portal with very long waiting time do get approved because the officer will look at it from the beginning. But on the new portal, the refusal rate is high. This is because Chinnok will process your application, and if you do not have good travel history, Chinnok will recommend you a refusal. And this is what the IRCC will send to you. Chinnok operation is highly discriminatory.
There are some concerns over the level of bias in the review process over temporary resident applications, especially on African countries. I share your sentiments.
Many people are beginning to speak up against these levels of bias, and we hope there would be some improvements soon.

Good day bro, have being following ur post which help alot, please keep up with it,please concerning my application,it was a tourist seens last year april, but have order gcms note and IT came out last 2week,from it i Can see dat my file was true to eligibility stage but NOT started, and my due date was 2/4/2022 which writen on the note.and that was the day i recieve my note.i also notice that their was an update as at 3/3/22 on my file ofwhich were NOT Reflect on my gckey profile.please will like to put me through next line of action please,a brother is badly in need of your quick response in this matter please.
You cannot predict when it comes to IRCC. Some applications get processed quickly, while others take a bit longer.
Another option you have is to re-apply on the new portal if the initial application was submitted on the old portal. The new portal seems faster with visit visa applications than the old portal lately, but you will pay another application fee.

But if your purpose of travelling is not super urgent and just for the tourist, I would advise you to be patient more.
You can raise webform and send an email to Lagos, Abuja and Nairobi, but don’t send multiple emails if the purpose of the visit is not timebound or urgent.

I understand the anxiety; try to distract yourself with some other stuff. A decision would come, don’t worry. You can also give It another three weeks, then order your GCMS notes again to compare with the previous if there is any progress in your file.

please, i will like to find out how to get in torch with the Canadian embassy. I applied for a tourist visa last year January with my family,am yet to hear from them.if anyone can help with their contact email.
1. Order for your GCMS Notes.

2. Send e-mail and webform since your application has exceeded standard processing times.

But start with the GCMS notes first so you can understand what is going on with your file.

Hi,

I sent my dad's passport to VFS Abj for his visa. The package was not accepted by VFS and sent back to us.
Does anyone have an idea of why it was VFS would not accept the package? he did his biometrics in Lagos and I paid the transmission fee (sent to Abj because the Abj office is fast). it was sent through Red Star Express courier could that be the reason? just trying to figure out what happened so we do not make the same mistake again.
Thanks,
Reconfirm the checklist of documents you sent to Abuja. Did you include his biometric slip that was issued to him in Lagos, also confirm the consent form was filled correctly and the correct amount for transmission fee was paid.?

You can send an e-mail to VFS - info.cannig@vfshelpline.com if you feel all was in order and tagged it urgent- itemise what you sent to them to enable them clarify why it was returned.

Good evening everyone, I am Patrick by name. Someone refer me to this trend and I have read a lot of studying in Canada tips and also testimonies. Thanks to all that have been making things easy for people like me and Congratulations to all those that have gotten their PPR. I can’t wait to come and share my testimony soon.

Now to what brought me here

I want to apply for Masters in any of these 3 schools (Thompson Rivers University in BC) (University of New Brunswick) and (Memorial University Newfoundland)

But before I go ahead, I have some questions and I’ll really appreciate if I can get answers. Thanks

1. Please which of the schools above will you recommend? (Acceptance rate, standard of living e.t.c)

2. I will be 36years this year, Is it advisable to go through study route?

3 I graduated (almost 10years now) with 3.86 cgpa in Applied zoology and environmental biology. And I am willing to do my Masters in Environmental Science/biology/ ecology. But the challenge is I have over 8years experience in marketing. Will my career in marketing not affect my course of study in terms of visa application.?

4. What are my chances of getting study permit because of the 10years gap between graduation, my career path and now that I want to further?

5. How can I go about proof of funds as I will be sponsoring myself and my young family(they will come later)?

Sorry for the long post

@learner246 @olasubomy @omiinii @makano @lekiboboe and others
In response to questions 1, 2, and 5

1. The three schools cited are all okay. Lekiboboe has already responded you concentrate on marketing for now. Based on that, you will be good with any of the schools. Marketing is in high demand in Canada if you have a passion for it, and I see job vacancies for marketing severally in New Brunswick. You can focus on that and then move to your love for science later if you still have the interest by then.

2. Age is no barrier to studying. You are good to go with your age.

5. You will need to have sufficient funds that cover a minimum of 1 year for your tuition and living expenses. The more the funds, the better, but avoid lumpsum deposits. If you have lumpsum deposits, explain those concisely so the VO can understand and attach any relevant documentary proof. You don’t need to mention that your family will go with you in your application. Let the application be about you alone. Your family can be used as a home tie. If you are married with kids, you will need to demonstrate that they will be sufficiently catered for in your absence, e.g. your wife having a job to cater for herself and the kids. But let the tone of your SOP give the impression you intend to come back home to your job and family.

Await other responses and suggestions.

All the best!

Tupalo:
Pls can someone use her father's pension Account as proof of fund and also a salary acct btw the range of 100k - 150k per month, father is still at service
You should use your pension account instead as proof of funds. Proof of funds for Pension is only limited to 25% of the total amount credited to the retirement savings account.

In line with the Pension Reform Act, you can only withdraw a maximum of 25% of the outstanding balance if you are out of a job for up to 4 months and unable to secure another job. That would be the maximum limit you can withdraw when you get to Canada. However, the entire pension account can be used as a home tie to demonstrate that you have a job and cash investment back home.

Your dad is still in active service, so he can't make any withdrawal for now, so it won't fly. Yes, attach your salary account; it proves that you have a job. You can also attach that of your dad if he has sufficient funds. But you will need to attach a statement with a closing balance covering at least your first year of tuition and living expenses. In a few cases, people submitted applications without much money in their account and got approval, but it is better to play it safe by having enough money.

Sometimes, this stuff depends on luck and the God factor, and it just depends on how you can organise your SOP, documents, and application to convince the visa officer.

Joanosas2950:
Good day Everyone, I am a May intake applicant . Applied march 3rd and did upfront medical before applying because it was mandatory in my case . (Upfront medical required) So i assumed i was chosen for NSE Nigerian Student Express. I had over 30k proof of fund in my dads savings account for more than 8 months before application, I have a travel history (I did my undergraduate studies in Russia). My first year part tuition fee receipt of 4000CAD and IELTS of 7.5 was submitted along with other usual documents.

The Nigerian Student Express Application processing time as stated by IRCC takes 20 days but in my case, it's been 42 days and I am yet to receive any update or final decision from IRCC.

my master program starts on the 3rd of may (in 18 days time) University of Windsor. I am very terrible at waiting thats why i wanted to use NSE. I develop anxiety, depression and even loose complete focus in situations like this especially when I read about people's experience on this page that have meet all requirements and are still waiting for months and even a year, it scares me alot and i dont mean to be insensitive to others that have been waiting long before me, its just that my anxiety is causing me serious depression. This is some kind of mental slavery, The cost of being a Nigerian.
Please gurus and expert in the house should analysis my application page and advise on what to do.
1. Increase the frequency of your emails and web form to IRCC. I would suggest you send daily emails appealing for their speedy application processing.
The content of your mail can speak to any or all of the following:
• The university is gradually transitioning to entirely in-person classes, making it impossible to attend classes in your home country.
• The difference in time zones makes it difficult to catch up on essential coursework projects with your fellow cohorts
• You need to resume with your fellow cohorts in other not to miss out on vital information in line with your study plan. etc., as the online option is gradually being dropped.
• You can attach your enrollment letter/sheet that shows courses registered for the semester.

2. Check if there are courses you can attend online for the summer, you may consider registering for those first, then plan to register for the in-person course next semester to have a win-win ( Your course adviser would know better). Worst case scenario, you attend the first semester in Nigeria.

3. If there are no more online courses, try to inquire about the last date to defer so you can quickly defer when it is very close to that date and no decision yet from IRCC.

Don’t underestimate the God factor; pray! Hopefully, you will get a PPR request soon.

Thanks.
I will just do $100.
No point wasting money with Aboki.

I will travel with my Master Card and print statement of account.
Travelling with liquid cash of just $100 dollars might be too little for your immediate needs except you already have it sorted out how you can get cash from other sources pending when you are able to withdraw from the bank. Maybe within the range of $800 to $1500 might be okay becuase you never can tell the immediate expense you will meet. But you will know better regarding your plans.

I thought to give you heads up.

What are the requirements and how much is one entitled to?
Generally, the bank would request for documents that shows that you are a bonafide student in Canada. They can request for your school ID card, the estimate of allowances from the school that comes with the letter of admission etc.

For instance if the estimate shows allowance of $10,000, you can process upkeep within that value based on your budget.

Good day all.

Please the attached information has been on my profile since I did my Biometrics capturing. However, my profile still indicates "your action is required".

What am I expected to do?
Is there any other information VFS should have provided to IRCC that is yet to be provided?

Kindly help attend to the above.

Thank you.
I can see that your biometric number has been captured on your profile that means your biometric data has been successfully recieved by IRCC. The remark "your action is required" should be a system glitch, it would eventually change back to "submitted" Dont panic, i cant see any cause for alarm.

Give it another one week and you can send the screen shot via webform if it still persist but its no issue.

All the best!

17 weeks on the dot.

In January I sent a lot of emails and like three webforms. All I got was generic responses. I needed a decision because the last day to pay my 1st term fees or withdraw and be eligible for full refund (excluding deposit of $1000) was on the 28th. My program doesn't do deferral but they said they could assure us of a readmission for fall term, we would only have to pay the application fee of $100 but we won't have to pay a deposit of $1000 again because it would be moved to fall. Like 4 of my course mates (1 Nigerian and 3 Indians) too this offer and withdraw and I was tempted to take this offer too; but my sister (my sponsor) said no, I should have faith (funny thing she is not a believer of faith, and she is very logical and basis her decisions on concrete facts and not hope). I paid my fees on the last day (I sent the fee receipt payment through a webform) and continued with the program online. Everyone was online including domestic students because of the Omicron variant. But they resumed in-person/hybrid 2 weeks ago. And believe me, I thought online classes was bad, but hybrid is way worse. I didn't send any emails or webforms after January and I even applied for a remote job for a US company to keep me distracted (I got the job too, and resumed this week). I later decided to order for my gcms notes on the 4th of March, though I don't think it caused my decision to arrive 2 weeks after. I got my PPR without them even asking me for an updated LOA to ensure I was still enrolled.

My background
Bsc in Architecture from University of Nigeria (UNN)
Program in Canada: Masters in Digital Media from Ryerson University (I explained I was focusing on Virtual and Augmented Reality in my sop, I will post my sop draft here for anyone who needs inspiration. Please inspiration, do not copy exactly)
3+ year work experience in architecture and construction (was never a full time worker, only during nysc, was always an independent contracted designer, submitted my last contract).

I will post my documents shortly, my new boss keeps sending tasks to do.
Congrats Maypearl.

What I don't understand is which one is recommended passed
The “ Recommended Passed” remark means that the case analyst has assessed you positively on all criteria. Your file has been passed on to a senior immigration officer, who will do a final review before giving his/her approval.

Once approved, a communication will be sent to you by mail regarding an update on your GC Key.

I wish you the PPR love letter you are expecting.

Topmc:
Advice plz!!!!!!!

My resumption is April 25 and my eligibility is yet to start let alone dropping PPr.

Pls should I defer the admission till May or September
March is enough time for God to do his wonders; still, I would say you exercise patience a little bit more. So, two options come to mind:

1. You can start your programme online then plan to travel when your application is approved but find out from your school the refund policy in case of the worst-case scenario on your application. Some people take the risk of resuming their programme online, and it turns out in their favour, and this option is a 50/50 chance of success. This option can be exploited if you are okay with the refund policy. Then, you don’t lose your tuition fee.

2. I would say wait till the last minute before deciding to defer. For instance, if the due date for deferment is on the 7th of April, you can wait till 4 or 5 days to the due date before deferring. You can send an email to the contact person in your faculty if you can get back to them latest by the 3rd of April to decide for deferment (with the assumption that the due date is 7th) so they mentally have you in mind. This delayed strategy will allow you to buy more time, and the PPR might just come before that time, and it would be a Win-Win.

Since your eligibility has not started, you can defer to September to give you allowance of time so you wont have to defer again that’s when you decide to defer.

In the meantime, keep sending reminders to IRCC via email and webform. Tag the subject “URGENT MAIL” or "PRIORITY MAIL" when sending these emails. Send them a short, concise mail appealing to their emotions on the need to have speedy response on your application to enable you to plan appropriately for your studies in line with your study plan. You can note that the COVID restrictions are already getting lifted, and you may not have the opportunity to join your classes online, which may affect your study plan.

I wish you the best!
