@jioke1994, although using your uncle as a sponsor is not as convincing to the VO compared to your mother I'll advise you stay truthfully and avoid misrepresentation. Don't try to be slick please don't. Don't meet any bank manager to fund your account with 15 mill to use as proof of funds. It may have worked for others but just keep in mind you're risking a 5-year ban.

I believe the next best option is to sell the property and use the profits as readily available funds but then I wouldn't recommend it, if selling that land is not coming from a place of comfort. Don't go above your means to get a visa that is rarely given to Nigerians...Statistics are against you so why make such a huge risk to get a visa. But if you feel like it regardless you can sell it. You'll just have to get every documents to back the credibility of the funds.
E.g 1)land sales agreement
2)Receipt of the sold land
3) Valuation certificate of the land/property.

With these documents and more you'll Indicate and explain the source of funds in the sponsorship letter written by your mom.and also explain source for subsequent funds.

However, I'm still convinced you can use your uncle as a sponsor and your mom as a co-sponsor, only that instead of selling the land your mom should sign the land to you as a gift of deed as these can act as potential source of funds. I'm of the conception that your uncle actually wants to sponsor you and not just used because he has large funds I think there are ways to convince the VO that your intentions are genuine.

Ultimately, you'll have to wait for your notes to arrive before you conclude. Your uncle being your sponsor might not even be the concerns of the VO.

I can totally relate. The waiting game is never easy at all because you have lots of plans on hold just waiting for a decision mail. Please see response in bold.

1. inform school visa is not ready and ask for admission deferral - Your friend can try to wait till 2 to 3 days to the due date for deferral, for instance, if your friend has till September 1st to make up her mind to defer, she can give it till August 28 or 29 then advise the school to effect deferral if the decision has still not yet come from IRCC so, I would say your friend keep discussions with her school open and let them know she would likely opt for a deferral, so they have your friend in mind, with that they are able to advise her on the latest date to get back to the school. Who knows, the PPR love letter can drop before then.[/i]

It is better to have some positive assurance from immigration before committing yourself to enroll in classes. Some people take this gamble and end in their favour but it is a huge risk. The first risk is the person won't be able to defer admission anymore because they are already fully enrolled and secondly would not be able to get a refund on the tuition fee, which is a huge expense when you compare CAD to Naira[i]

Your friend would need to communicate with the international student office and immigration advisor of her school to advise her accordingly. Doing nothing is not an option.[i][/i]

Someone on this thread can't remember his moniker guided me on this same issue when I tried to help a friend gain control of his application, which I successfully did. I was furious about how they handled this guys' application. I think it is important we have this agreement with agents on the need to have control over the GC key account if there is any need to engage an agent.

I am happy to guide you on what to do. Follow the below steps:

1. Click on this link https://www.canada.ca/en/immigration-refugees-citizenship/services/application/account.html, go to option 1 and register as a new user on the "Don't have an account" tab.

2, Create all the Security questions and answer that the system would prompt you.

3, Once you are done creating your account, you would see in blueprint a link reading "Add (link) your application to your account". Please click it.

4, Refer to the screenshot below. You will see different selections to choose from ( the screenshot will guide you) :

* Under Category, select temporary residence
* Under Subcategory, select study permit and extension
* Under Application details, select family name, given name and date of birth ( Being you might not know your application number and UCI due to the denial by your agent, but if you know these numbers, select application number and UCI)
* Under Applicants Personal information, select passport then enter your passport details
* Under Information about applicant's study in Canada, enter details as on your admission letter, which was declared in your application and your DLI number.
* Once this is entered and you review all details, click search for my application. It will open a new page.
* This new page will ask you to fill out a form to disassociate yourself from your agent. Fill this form to the best of your knowledge and attach and continue, then you should have your account linked.

NB: Once you enter all details correctly and it gives you an error message, and you try this twice, please wait for another 24 hours before trying again because the system allows one to try to link only 5 attempts, after which it would lock you out . Please wait for another 24 hours to try again should in case it gives an error when you click "Search for my application"

I currently have a situation, and I remember several people who have had this same issue in the past on this thread but can't remember how they tackled it.

I have a friend who used an agent to apply for a study permit. The application was made in February 2021, and now this is August 2021 without a decision yet. Although, I have put in an application for a GCMS note on her behalf as a representative since I am in Canada.

How can she access her GC key account so she can monitor her account in real-time, just like any other person, since the agent is not yielding to give these login details?

Please guide me on how to go about this to have access to the application currently running.

I felt I can share what I gained. I recently listened to an Instagram live discussion on KSA’s page with an ex-VO, Annie who is now an immigration consultant.

It was helpful as I was able to see through the eyes of a typical visa officer. Even though their views may vary as everyone is different. it was insightful hearing from the other side and what she generally thinks about the high visa refusals from Nigeria.

I have a very important question to ask. if someone get his or her visa approved (PPR) to go for fall but you decided that you do not want to go by september again but by january. what step does one have to follow? does the person have to tell ircc that I will be resuming in January, and will they extend the study permit period?

I don't see any issue with this. That means the student resumes classes online in September (Fall term) and intends to travel in January 2022 (Winter term) to continue with the programme. In that case, the student would have an enrollment letter as evidence of registering and finalized the fall semester. If my understanding of your question is correct, there is no need to inform IRCC. IRCC has already done their part in granting approval and issuing visas. The CBSA guys may randomly ask out of curiosity why you did not travel for the fall semester, and I am sure you would already have an answer to that by then.

I live in Fredericton. Have you seen a place you like? Is the landlord number posted there? I can help you put a call to the landlord. Due to high demand for houses this period, they always prefer some assurances you will be renting their place for them to wait for you but we can try.

You can come with groundnuts. I came with those. Transfer the groundnut to a light plastic like those eva bottles. That will weigh lesser.

Their milk is evaporated milk and affordable, not the powdered milk we are used to in Nigeria; although you can get the powered milk in African stores, it would be pricey.

I suggest you focus on your ogbono, egusi, elubo (Amala), maybe a little groundnut oil you can use while you settle in before moving around; very dried fish, Semo is available here in their regular stores (Walmart) and its 2 dollars. They also have almost similar to our kind of beans and rice is here too in their regular stores. But you can come with some beans and rice to start you up before you fully get used to the environment because you would need food, especially when you arrive from a long-distance trip.

I started Canada journey since 2019 through an agent. If I could remember well, June 29 2019, that was the time my first application was submitted. I submitted the necessary documents for him to arrange and make it a perfection. Hold and behold, my application hasn’t been finalized till March 2020, so I asked him for my login. He refused. Me wey be Lagos boy, I went into the barracks carry 3 soldiers, before then I was so calm with him, I asked for us to see, mumu no sabi say I b Werey. Around that March, we met, and I arrested him with soldiers. Before 1 min, my login don drop. I went to a cafe to check what was going on. As I login. I noticed there was a chargeback and ircc requested for an explanation but the agent didn’t reply, either he didn’t pay the money since September 2019 when the email came.

On that same day I got hold of him, I paid him 390k I collect 290k dat same day. Cuz he didn’t do anything.

When I got home, I went to pay the chargeback fee, then September 2020, my application was denied.

During that period of me waiting for my decision, that’s when I saw this wonderful family, I read through from beginning of this Canadian topic as if my life was on it, Na only this morning I didn’t read 6 more pages, I skipped to type PPR WAS HERE.

So after reading through, I saw how easy Canadian application was, so I reapplied November 2020, by January 2021, I was refused. I made some mistake though, I didn’t add enough proof, like my company Cac, my sponsor and I pictures a lot of stuff sha.

Then this 3rd time, I said to myself. I go add everything. Make I see how dem wan take refuse me.
My gcms note came in, and I say it was cuz I didn’t proof well.

Now I applied feb 14, I waited for this day telling God, it’s a love date. Please show me love. That was my praying on that day, cuz I believe 14 would be my day. And it was.

Applied on feb 14,
I submitted everything. Nse request letter, and ielts with band of 8.0.

Then the wait started,
On April 24th 2021, I got a procedural fairness. Omo I almost died, if my enemy had heart attack issue, omo d heart attack to happen dat day. Seeing 5 years ban, all because of chargeback and I didn’t tell them I was refused for us visa.

After some hours
Since I was d one who submitted my application, I was so sure I did tell them I was refused for us visa, I went to check my application on my laptop, I saw that I actually told them on the form I was refused with enough typing in that form box, that’s when I said to myself, Na mistake procedural fairness dem send me.
So I contact my lawyer, explained there was no chargeback on my application. Note I didn’t talk about the first application, because I feel like, application wey dem don denied after I paid the charge back, I did another application dem deny am, so why would it be they are asking for the first chargeback in a 3rd application.

That’s why I told my lawyer to type, there isn’t a chargeback back in this present application with application number, so I send receipt of my payment cuz I told them I paid the money myself and also gave them proof of my us refusal in my form, with my us refusal form us gave me that day.

So I submitted the document on April 25th
And pray to God, in anything don’t give me a ban. I can still manage a refusal
A ban would kill me, because that period I was really low on cash, and I knew I won’t have the money to get a lawyer to have the case, God saw mostly all my money was invested in my offline business to grow and all.

Then d wait started, I went to do upfront medical so as not to delay if they go and ask me for medical request and I saw that hospital might be crowded if I don’t get to do my medical fast, I did my medical and it was updated by may, can’t remember the day.

Then the wait started again,
All those period, I see PPR and people praying for PPR, and I do pray for people waiting for PPR, God should grant them their wish as I read through, and when I see PPR just drop, I use that to pray for mine.

Make I cut story short. PPR drop this morning.

Hello Nairalanders. The trust we are all doing great. After waiting for over 7weeks my GCMS finally came in today and I have attached screenshots for the gurus to help interpret. I noticed my deferred admission letter sent via web form is not updated. I also didn't see an update of my medical though it has been updated to pass on my profile. I see the information sharing is still in progress which is a surprise as my application was submitted since February. I intend to send them business registration documents again as we have submitted at the initial date and some current jobs my spouse is handling via webform tomorrow. Please let me know if there's anything I should add. Thanks in advance.

The info sharing is still in progress; perhaps IRCC awaits a response from one of their migration partners based on your shared biometrics details.

It appears your file has been transferred to a senior person who awaits some info to enable him/her to make a final decision, and by God's grace, this would be positive.

You can resend your spouse's business registration documents via web form if you feel the need to send them. I remember requesting for my GCMS notes out of curiosity even after approval and observed that the initial case analyst assessed me positively on all factors but had issues with my home ties yet the Senior Immigration officer noted he was satisfied and granted approval. Sometimes GCMS notes might not be 100% perfect but will still come with approval.

Please , I would like advice, MBA or GDBA , which one would guarantee me admissions? I have 14 years experience and have held managerial roles for upwards of 7 years. Would have preferred GDBA cos of cost and the fact that you get to stay in Canada longer but I don't know if the admissions office would think I'm too old and experienced for that and that I may not want to come back to Nigeria. I don't want them to reject my admission based in that.

While you await more contributions from the gurus, below is my take;

Age is not a barrier to further your education. What is most important is career progression enough to convince the admission officers. You have extensive years of experience, so I don't think you will have any issue in gaining admission. GDBA and MBA are both good choices depending on your academic background and your job functions in terms of work experience. I don't know what you do on your job but the career progression must be logical, especially when you are presenting your application to immigration for your visa.

Your academic programme and course of choice have to be similar to your work experience or academic background. One good thing about your profile is your extensive work experience most especially if the 7 years are related to your current job. You can use this to your advantage to convince the visa officer you are established and coming back because you have a good job waiting for you. The motivation for your studies and how this will add value to you and your organization when you return has to be documented when you are presenting your application to IRCC for Visa.

I am not a visa expert but based on past testimonies from these threads and my personal experience, you can still be issued a visa on a virgin passport. I had never travelled to the USA, Canada, UK, or any of the Western countries before I got approval, so do not worry about that.

The most important thing now is focusing on putting up a strong application. Give it your best shot. Just be optimistic, and you would have it.

Pele ! Try to start your travelling plans on time, and don't forget the closer it gets to your travel date, the higher the airline fee. Trust me; you don't want to get into the last-minute rush. Just brace up. I know it is not easy leaving loved ones. The whole effort won't be in vain by God's grace.

Just to give you some tips - Nigerian foods you can easily get here without going to African stores are Rice ( in the regular stores like Walmart, look out for "Parboiled Rice), Spaghetti, Beans ( they have beans similar to ours, look out for "Black Eyed Peas), Groundnut Oil ( More healthy than the one they sell in Nigeria). African stores have other Nigerian foods but pricey.

You can prioritize your Ogbono, semovita, Garri, bottled groundnut ( you can put this in those Eva water plastic bottles), wheat, very dried fish, egusi, Noodles ( if you are a lover of noodles), ingredients for stew ( Thyme, Curry, Maggi etc.) but the tomato, atarodo and pepper are available here at Walmart and some other stores.

Additionally, you can buy like 5 or 6 screen protectors for your phone if you use an expensive smartphone. It is way cheaper in Nigeria and more expensive in Canada buying a screen protector. The screen protector I bought for 1,000 naira for my Huawei phone is $40 dollars here. I was lucky to see it for $20 dollars somewhere else and this might be more expensive in other highbrow provinces like Ontario, British Columbia etc

You can try the option of submitting a mybankstatement certificate instead. That one is just a one-page document, and you can submit it for one year transaction period. Except if the bank is not on the mybankstatement platform. Otherwise, that's a better approach.

I am not sure you can get Canadian dollars from any of the dealers in Nigeria, but you can get US dollars, then you deposit the US dollars in any of the Canadian banks of your choice when you get to Canada. The equivalent in Canadian dollars will reflect in your bank account, and the bankers here would be ready to clarify to you if you have any queries.

I began the process of immigrating to Canada through the study route in 2019. The agent who filed and processed my last applications messed up too many things and kept me in jeopardy of never being able to get approval. Very simple here ......he was in way over his head and did not have the necessary knowledge or experience to deal with my case. But after I had contacted @Frankrobbn1 the MD/CEO of fandrglobal.com, the whole story changed. He gave me the direct contact number of the Member of Parliament in Newfoundland in June 10, 2021, who submitted an enquiry on my behalf to IRCC seeking for an update on my application. After getting a response from the MP, my eligibility review which has been on hold for more than 15 weeks immediately commenced.

For those who are looking at this and thinking if it is a good idea to work with @Frankrobbn1, I say to you: at first it may not seem like a considerable investment, but if your intention is to have a hitch-free Canadian immigration process, it is really worth it. I am about applying for my a study visa for the second time but this time outside of Nigeria but I got a friend that travelled to Canada this year January and he told me if I can wait till next year before I apply again said things seem somehow rough to get a job and also study and he is really walking on a thin line with funds that COVID has affected some things and the economy is just recovering! Is it true? Is there someone that entered Canada this year with a study visa? Or it might be in his own state, what do you guys think, please

Your friend told you the reality of things, but I don't think you should delay applying for your visa on that ground. You can always make your decision when to travel to Canada when your visa application is approved. COVID put some strain on job availability, but there are still some jobs in high demand, most especially essential services, like retail outlets, courier, health services etc. Most of these jobs will be menial jobs that you can start with to sustain yourself while you study. The country is planning gradual re-opening so hopefully, things get into shape when you get into Canada

Thank you so so much (May God's abundant blessings locate you). I'm quite well. I should have reapplied a lot earlier, but I am waiting for tuition fee debit in my account. GCMS note will come in first week of July, but that's not much problem.

I intend to make a very water-tight application this time, and I don't want to leave any stone unturned, which is why getting my tuition payment receipt is quite imperative. By the special grace of God, I should be able to apply either next week or the first week of July.

I am very happy about the PPR showers these past few weeks. I pray for more rain of PPR in the coming weeks.

Okay. I thought you get work permit right there if you say you need to work?

It will show in your record if you are entitled to a work permit, just like the coop programme I mentioned. The CBSA officer would already know this, so they do not require validation from the immigrant. Most of their questions are to discern your true intent of coming into Canada.

The study permit they issue to international students always has a clause at the bottom page that the holder is entitled to a maximum of 20 hours per week. You telling them that you want to work might open up further questions and questions, which might shoot one in the leg.

I read many people saying at the airport that they don't intend to work in Canada. Is anything wrong in saying you will work in Canada?

There is nothing wrong in telling the CBSA officer that you intend to work, but caution must be observed in answering this question, for example, if your program includes a coop. That implies you do some internship as a prerequisite to complete your programme, so a student in that category can say yes and explain why as a pre-requisite for completing his/her programme.

But suppose your programme does not include coop. Automatically, In that case, your study permits entitle you to work a maximum of 20 hours per week, so the student knows he/she will work while schooling in Canada, so there is no need to say you are going to work, which might risk the purpose of visit. They have the authority to refuse an immigrant entry into Canada if they doubt the intent of the person's stay.

It is much safer to give them the impression you are here to read and study. Also, everything you declared in your application and submitted on the GCkey account, including the comments and assessment of the VOs, are viewed and assessed by them as they ask you these questions.
