What a Sad Day for me.

Got 2 correspondence letter on to check and realize my application was refused.

What do I do next.

Gcm notes take time to come how long do I have to wait to even reapply.

Guys plz advice me.
So sorry bro, I know this is painful but you will get it if you dont give up.

Wait for your GCMS notes to arrive to help you see areas that you can improve on.

In the meantime, please try to take your mind off and enjoy the holiday, take sometime to relax and have fun.

You can contact any of the gurus privately in your re-application to help you review your SOP.

It would end in praise.

Please Fellas!
Is it true CBSA do login to student portal to confirm the person is a bonafide student of the school?
This would depend on the nature of the enquiry of the CBSA officer;

* At the Point of Entry - The CBSA officer already has details of the incoming immigrant ( e.g international student) displayed on thier screen as they asked the students those random questions before printing out study permit. They can always request to see the enrollment letter from the student if they want to confirm if the person is actually a registered student. The decision to log into a student portal is rare exept they have some doubts and want to probe further.

* Compliance Reporting - The designated learning Institutions do report details of thier enrolled international student like twice in a year to IRCC which is another way the immigration authorities do track genuinue students.

I hope this adddress your question.

Thanks for clarifying. Lets hope for something good to come out. I have completely remote classes in the 1st semester and completed my exam.

I really need something positive. As I it might be difficult to continue 2nd semester remotely. It would no longer worth it.
I understand the anxiety. I presume your application has exceeded standard processing times since you submitted the re-application in May.

You can send them an e-mail and via webform appealing to them to speed up the process of your application. One of thier primary objective test is to see if you are genuine student so let that reflect in your reminder to them. Let them know you have completed a semester in your home country and that your continous studies online is not really conducive and not alowing you get the best value from your fellow cohorts and faculty due to the difference in time zones etc

You can attach your enrollment letter for the completed semester and that of winter as proof of enrollment.

Let the e-mail be concise and straight to the point.

All the best.

Ghost update means your application is currently being reviewed by assessing visa officers.

E-mails are not sent for ghost update except if there is an update on your account like i.e medical request, Request for additional document, Original Passport Request etc.

Keep hope alive and be hopeful for a positive decision.

I am considering of traveling any moment before this new covid variant escalate...Please i want to know how soon can i travel for winter session...My program start date is 4th of January.

Thanks.
If you are fully set and have all your stuff sorted , you can plan travelling in December. You would need time to settle in so you are not distracted with so many things you need to sort when classes starts.

It is also getting really cold and the snows are falling heavily. Dont forget your thick jackets, thick sweater, glooves and boots. You can get a jacket with hoodie to cover your head or hat. Aboniki and rub too for your chest. I felt i should chip that in.

Safe trip in advance.

This is my first winter - and it is truly depressing sad. 4:30 p.m and it is already dark! Na wah.
Dont worry, you will get a hang of it with time.

I had that weird experience early this year (winter 2021) when i came in. Everywhere looking so quiet unlike the buzzling noise and music from some quarters we are used to in Nigeria. Sometimes, i will just sit looking at the window staring at flying birds or squirrel jumping up and down. It can be that depressing when you are new so i can relate with guys having this initial shock.

The truth is you will get used to it with time without realising it. I would say what helped me was that i made friends regardless of race. I reached out to classmates at random and formed bond with a couple of them which helped relieved boredom.

I think it is even better now that schools are going back fully in-person so there is opportunity to mix and with time you will blend.

It seems they now take Police cert. seriously

I submitted earlier but since it has 3 months validity much reason they asked me to submit another one.

Please what are my chances after the submission, my spirit is telling me is a done deal already. To God be the glory .
No one can really predict the internal workings of IRCC.

It gives a postive impression of the applicant when they are able to respond to request from the IRCC in a timely manner.

You just do your part and get another police clearance certificate and send to them asap. It shows your application is progressing.

Hopefully, you get the love letter as a final decison.

Congratulations. Talking about the affidavits of return to Nigeria after completion of study, what if you get to Canada and see a nice job offer after graduation and decided to stay back won't it have an effect? I want the Guru in the house to help answer this question as well.
The Study Permit application package as a whole should be able to convince the responsible visa officer that the applicant would depart Canada immediately after their studies. Hence, it goes way beyond the Affidavit of Return. The wordings on the statement of purpose or study plan should also be speaking that same language, so; the affidavit is just an additional document of proof to buttress what has been documented in the statement of purpose because one of the binding rules on study permit is to prove to the assessing visa officer and even the Canada Border Service Agency (CBSA) that the applicant or incoming immigrant will depart Canada when the study permit expires.

Once the applicant can fulfil those conditions by resuming for studies and completing the program without violating their law and decides to apply for the Post Graduate Work Permit (PGWP) and gets approved, the person would no longer be bound by the study permit conditions but that of the Post Graduate Work Permit (PGWP). The person can then decide to follow that process legally till the Permanent Resident Permit is secured.

So to answer your question, the answer is no as long as the person does not break their law and follow their rules.

Cheers!

OdabiP:
Good evening Nairalanders, this is quite long but bear with me. Earlier this year (2021) I was referred to a page on IG that handles Canada study visa called “ Wokostravelofficial” . They apparently were into securing admissions for interested people at the University of Manitoba, Winnipeg, Canada and I secured their services. After making all payments to one Kinsley Onuchukwu GTB 0568656274 (handler of the Wokos page) and successfully securing the admission, we moved on to the visa application stage and this is where things started going sideways.

While waiting on this, I also applied to another Canadian institution (Niagara College, Canada) and was offered an acceptance to the Broadcasting program with a co-op work permit attached to it but decided to use the Manitoba admission for my study visa since it came before the other Niagara own and I had already began the study visa process but I planned to switch when i eventually got the study visa.

After providing all the required documents needed for visa application ( international passport, my sponsors bank statement of 12M Naira and sponsorship letter, CAC documents, filling my family information form) to “ Wokos”, my application was submitted in early February 2021 and a week later I was invited to do biometrics screening which I did at the VFS center in Lekki.

Months passed and no feedback from the embassy and every time I messaged this guy he always give me different excuses ( COVID, this , that) so I lockup. He refused to give me the details to my IRCC login claiming he is handling many applications and cannot give the login details to everyone so any messages or requests from IRCC that I receive on my email I would have to ask him before he even tells me what was going on and which documents they were requesting for ( NSE documents like IELTS and Mybankstatement)

Eventually after a 5 months wait, he eventually sent me the rejection mail on the 24th of June claiming my application was unsuccessful . I was devastated and asked him if I could immediately request for my GCMS note to know the real reason my application was rejected but he insisted that I would have to wait for at least two months before even applying for GCMS. I doubted it but I waited, a month later in late July, I asked again about applying for GCMS note but he still dismissed it so I took the incentive and made some research on how to apply myself and I did.

After a month and some days later, I received the GCMS today (3rd of September 2021) and I am shocked to find out that they used duplicated documents for my study visa applications that had already been used in several other applications and I was being accused of fraudulent documentation and misrepresentation and being hit with a 5 years ban from all Canada visa applications .

The annoying part alongside this is that this agent was given some time ( June to July) to inform me on the misrepresentation allegations and to challenge it if need be but he did not and if I had not applied for the GCMS note myself I wouldn’t even know that I had been banned for 5 years. Also because Canada, US and Australia share information and data base I have also been told that the chances of me getting a visa in those 3 countries are now slim to none.

I would appreciate any information and ideas on the important next steps I would need to take to possibly appeal this ban. 5 years no be joke ‍♂️. Please help a brother out
It was sad reading this. This is pure wickedness.

You can try to book a consultation with this Canadian immigration consultant. She was a former Canadian Visa officer. She should be able to advise you better on your chances.

Good morning all,

Please those that have already landed in Canada, if you first land in a province en route to your final destination, will you be given your student permit et al there?
E.g my flight will first land in Montreal, have a two hours layover before moving to Halifax. Will I be subjected to the Montreal arrival rules (covid test, student permit, etc) or will I still be regarded as a traveller till I reach my final destination?
You will be screened at your first point of entry. Since you will be landing first in Montreal, that is where you will be issued your study permit after verification by the respective CBSA officer.

I presume your DLI is at Halifax. I would suggest you liaise with the immigration advisor of your school regarding the present COVID guidelines in Halifax or any other thing you need to know, but the bulk of your screening would be done in Montreal.

Safe trip in advance.

Please, is it possible to reapply for visa after getting rejected because i put my mom as sponsor? i want to put my dad now, but i don't know if it would be appropriate
Why not? You can always re-apply after a refusal. I would recommend you use both your mum and dad as sponsors.

There is nothing wrong if you intend to use your mum as the main sponsor. I suppose she has the bulk of the funds. Then your dad can be the co-sponsor. Both of them should jointly sign the sponsorship letter. She can also pay for your first-year tuition, and you attach the payment receipt to your next application. Having both parents as sponsors would put lots of weight on your application.

But better to first apply for your GCMS notes so you know the specific concerns of the VO and you can tackle this in your next application

All the best

Have you received a confirmation from the clinic where you did your medical exam that your result has been sent to the embassy. IRCC might not necessarily reply, and most times, they take time to acknowledge the documents you sent to them due to the high influx of applications they are dealing with.

You would need to keep checking if your medical on your GC key has been updated to pass, then you are good.

My uncle in Canada recommended this thread to me for ease processing.
I want to start my application for winter 2022 and standard documents are ready, would like to know of any other relevant information to add.

Plus my transcripts is student copy, does it affect anything?
Hi ManlikeDee,

Read through the link below as published on the IRCC web to guide you on the necessary documents to prepare for your study permit application. Please note that you would need to prepare a Letter of Explanation or Statement of Purpose. This will be an important document which you would have to submit with your application. These documents would summarise more details about yourself and helps the visa officer understand you better. It is a document that would speak for you in your absence. Just like an in-person interview is conducted at the US embassy for prospective students. For Canada, your letter of explanation does the speaking .

The link below will guide you on important points that should be included in your letter of explanation or statement of purpose. You can conclude this with wordings that " you understand your responsibility as a student" and develop on that.

https://www.canada.ca/en/immigration-refugees-citizenship/services/study-canada/study-permit/get-documents.html.

Also, please go through the below thread to guide you on more information :

Credit to Luckymama and justwise.

Yes, you can submit your student copy as long as your school registrar stamps it.

Hi Jeff,

You need to transmit the documents to IRCC electronically.

Remember the process you took when you initially submitted your application, and you clicked next to make payment and signed electronically with your name before submitting your application. You would need to follow that same process to transmit it to IRCC. The only difference here is that you are not making any payment.

ACTION TAKEN

GURUS in the House:

Pls, I need your advice on how to tackle these REASONS.

I am here to learn!

Thank you.
I am sorry about the temporary delay on your application for a study permit. I am glad you are giving it a fighting spirit. You would be surprised when your GCMS notes arrive; it might not reflect any loophole in your application as you would have done everything right.

Refusals from what I have seen so far do not mean you have not done the right thing and have not packaged your application very well. The God factor and luck play a role. These visa officers often make decisions based on their discretion, especially when your application is reviewed by a visa officer who does not know much about the Nigerian market, culture, and our ways of life.

I wish everyone still awaiting a positive decision, and to those who got refusals, remember there is light at the end of the tunnel. Don't let it cross your mind ever to give up.

It will end in praise.

Unknowingly to me, I could still upload NSE documents request (I overlooked). Fast forward to 14th of August, I decided to do testing microphone with the NSE (I mistakenly uploaded a different documents in the Proof of Fund slot) still no up date on review of additional documents still shows “we need additional documents…..”

Finally, on Wednesday Eligibility review and background check all started, got a refusal same day.

List of documents I submitted are

Reason for refusal also attached below.

Still it’s a blessing for me to come across this platform, I hope you get to learn from my mistake(s).

Your amazing ideas are welcome, thank you.
Sorry about the temporary delay, I am sure you will get it next time; some things to note:

* The testing microphone you did, as you stated in your message, might have harmed your application. What you should have done if you don't want to go through the NSE route was an official letter of explanation on why you don't want NSE and informing them officially to process through regular channels. Anyway, lessons learnt.

* Does the reasons stated in their refusal letter make any sense to you? If not, please apply for your GCMS notes to get a deeper view of the specific reasons for the visa immigration officer.

* Pending when your GCMS note arrives, you can do some internal housekeeping by booking and writing the IETLS that is if you don't have a test result yet and prepare to submit mybankstatement certificate in your next application. That will fasten your application in the aspect of NSE.

* Pay part of your tuition fee if you have not yet done so to address their concerns on tuition fee, and if you already did that, point their mistake to them in your next application with documentary proof (re-attaching the tuition receipts)

* Are you applying with your family? Consider applying alone and use your family as home ties.

You can await contributions from the gurus in the house.

All the best

Thanks for the response. How then can I hustle to sort myself there
As a student, your study permit entitles you to work up to a maximum of 20 hours per week. You can work overtime up to 40 hours per week during scheduled breaks (i.e. semester holidays) as long as you are registered and enrolled as a full-time student.

But please note that you must commence classes before you start working. Working before resumption will be violating your study permit conditions.

I hope I have addressed your concerns.

Please, don't try that route. That would be a violation of your study permit conditions, and you may lose your student status, which would most likely affect your immigration records. The trouble does not worth it.

The Designated Learning Institutions (DLI)normally do a compliance reporting of the academic enrollment status of their international students to IRCC. Their record would show you have not reported to your school for studies.

Thank you, but this is Recommend Interview. Is it the same with Review Requiredhuh
Review Required -means the case analyst has flagged an item for review based on the documents submitted on file, which would need a more thorough investigation. This is concluded on time for some applicants, while others may take longer depending on the item or documents flagged. That is why sometimes applicants are asked to send an updated bank statement (not necessarily an NSE request) or provide another copy of a particular document submitted or might be an employer they want to contact directly.

Recommend Interview - means a Case Analyst has reviewed the documents on file, specifically every item based on criteria for eligibility.
