Which month in 1985? Babangida's administration didn't just come out of nowhere. It was necessitated by the fact that between December 31st 1983 until the time of his (IBB's) coup, things had drastically changed for the worse.

There are standard versions of both American English and English English. When you watch BBC or CNN news, and listen to BBC radio or VOA news, and the Queen, you hear the standard versions of both. It wasn't different from watching Yinka Craig and Cyril Stuber (spelling), as well as their colleagues in those days. They spoke proper English. However, there are other variants or dialects of English spoken by English speakers in the US and the UK.

They just exchanged glances, which I interpreted to mean "This guy is a fool if he believed those things we preached to him."

I don't listen to any pastor, or prophet, and I've warned my family not to tell me pastor say this or that. Just imagine a pastor sending a message to me to engage in several days of dry fasting for no reason.

Simply because Nigerians only know how to ripoff the citizens! Also, we want to make supernormal profits overnight from our investments.

I get a discount on my power bill monthly, less during the dry season. And for years, those consuming less that one hundred units were exempted from paying for power consumption. There are amenities that the government must provide at a reasonable cost, so even the poor could afford them.

If the power sector were truly privatized, the government could withdraw their licenses if they are unable to provide or guarantee a stable power supply after a number of years.

So do you mean to tell me that it doesn't rain in Asian countries with stable power supply?

This is Nigeria! However, elsewhere, the problems would've been solved asap. You don't have railway transport without having emergency workers with the necessary machinery and knowhow, who are ready to swing into action immediately, stationed at every major stop.

The rot in Nigeria can never be solved because a couple of trucks can breakdown and made a highway unusable for up to one full day without the so-called road safety being able to remove the trucks from the highway and make it accessible within the shortest possible time. The reason being that they don't have the necessary machinery at the disposal.

Everyone wearing a uniform, and in any position of authority, in Nigeria thinks they're demigods. Uniformed personnels will ONLY stop killing innocent people/civilians when they know they will face the death penalty.

It should be an eye for an eye for those who abuse their position of authority resulting in the death of civilians.

In this day and age, they still withdraw money to pay workers' salary. How about paying directly into their accounts? Well, if they had to pay into the workers' accounts, they'll not be able to steal the money and claim it was robbed.

Vote for only those you believe will genuinely help to alleviate the present hardship in the country.

There should be a law that a card carrying member of a political party MUST leave the party (publicly declare, and printed in the new media) for at least 6 months before joining a different party. This would help to prevent those elected on a party from criss crossing between parties at will.

This is NOT a military regime! Workers often go on strike in the West, and when they do, the affected parties sit to negotiate without issuing threats.
