No wonder Nigerians are currently being asked to take the IELTS or TOEFL proficiency test.

TravelExperience At The (US Visa) Passport Collection Center, DHL VI by olmoRoc(op): 8:40am On Apr 20, 2018
After my successful interview, I was told I would receive a text in three business days from the DHL office in VI for the collection of my passport. As I was due to fly out on the 4th business day, I eagerly awaited the text, but didn't receive it. So I went to the DHL office and got there at about 3 minutes past 4. When I arrived there, the security guard at the door was talking with an elderly man, and when she finished talking with him, she locked the door with us standing outside.

After about a minute, she came to tell us that the madam said the office was closed, and that the tracking information on the US government website which said they'd picked up the passport was wrong and that it was a system error. When she was about to lock the door again oblivious of our impervious pleadings, a staff came out who recognized the elderly man as the same person that was there in the morning, and told the guard that we should be allowed to go in but she repeated what her boss told her and the staff said there was nothing she could do about it. Her attempt to lock the door infuriated the elderly man, and he pushed the door.

The commotion made the boss to ask the guard to allow him in, and I followed pleading with the guard that I needed my passport for my trip the next morning. On entry, I was told to sit because the boss was busy, and the other idling staff would not attend to me without boss's approval.

Long story short, after the boss gave them the permission to attend to me, I presented my case to a staff who duly took my passport number and name, but the boss and another staff kept telling me that the US embassy lies to applicants about the three business days, that the visa was usually issued in five to ten business days.

Well, to my surprise, the passport was among the neatly arranged passports in the cupboard behind the staff. Also, the passport of the elderly man who'd been there all day was brought in from another office. From my understanding of the phone conversation to someone in the office downstairs where the elder's passport was retrieved, the passport (including mine as we both attending our interviews on the same date) was brought there on the previous business day. What I do not understand is why didn't they send out the SMS, or the email which they kept asking us to wait for? Also, why did they insist that the tracking information was wrong, and that "Your passport has been picked up," meant the passport was at the embassy, and "Your passport is ready for collection," meant the passport was with them? Finally, is someone supposed to pay a bribe or go through an intermediary in order to collect their passport from DHL VI, or any other designated collection centers?

And they actually weren't particularly happy when I insisted that they were not doing their job. I just hope Nigerians will learn to do their job without directly or indirectly frustrated people or soliciting a bribe. Next time, I'll use a different center.

Well, let's wait and see what happens in the long run.

The guys we all arrived here around the same time were living large withing a couple of years, but they're all either in the white house, or on the run, and can never set a foot here again. It was my home training that's kept me from harm all these years.

I'm not rich, but I'm very comfortable. Slow and steady, like I was told while growing up, really pays. Cheer up, and patiently wait for God's touch.
PoliticsRe: Stephanie Hegarty Trolls President Buhari For Making Lagosians Stranded by olmoRoc: 1:38pm On Mar 31, 2018
I've never heard of any president in the modern era declaring a bus station open. These people are clueless. It reminds me of the former dullard and criminal governor of Edo State, thief lucky igbinedion, who spent the entire 8 years he was in office commissioning abattoirs, and inspecting federal government projects.

Those traditional rulers are part and parcel of the problems in the country. Have workers in that particular state been paid? Instead of developing the state, he's just settled 100 people that matters. Those are the people who will be singing his praise to enable him garner votes in future elections. It's a shame that our people bask in frivolities.

Congrats for triumphing over corruption. We paid 25,000 for ours when it was first introduced, and after some months, some thieves from the distribution company came asking when was the last time it was recharged, claiming it should be recharged monthly. If people stopped paying those bills, they'll be forced to dish out the prepaid meters.

Political prostitutes!

Na only in Naija you'll keep reading about decamping every day. And it's only in Naija that you'll win in one party, then decamp to another party and still keep your mandate/office! There should be a clause in the constitution preventing this madness. You should beable to prove that you've left the party for a number of months before you can join a different party. Or, are political parties not required to register their members with INEC?

Correct. He didn't stay this long then if I'm not mistaken, but he wrecked havoc big time. I'll keep saying that the ONLY people who voted, and will still vote for him didn't grow up during the early eighties, or are just enemies of progress. Water and electricity problems still besieging the country are the results of his first tenure.

Correct. My school greatly benefited from the introduction of IT in secondary schools in the 80s. Everything disappeared within a couple of yrs. We only used the machines in the woodwork dept once. If not for the devilishness of the principals, that subject could have made most secondary school leavers self reliant because they would have learnt very useful skills by the time they pass out.

I love the design.

LG lost its competent customer to g3 and g4 bootloop issues.
No ome wants to waste their hard earned money on uncertain/unstable product.

Good chose
The G3 was LG's best selling smartphone, if not the best selling Android smartphone in that year. However, the design flaws of the G4 put a dent on the company's success, which they've not recovered from. The truth is, there are always quality issues with LG smartphones, and even the LG produced Google Nexus.
