Crime / Re: Olive Ize-Iyamu: UNIBEN Student Missing In Lagos After 'Leaving Home To Cook' by olmoRoc: 2:59am On May 26, 2021
As a preteen, my dad used to always tell us wherever he was going because he felt it was important for family members to know exactly where he was and the names of the people he was visiting in case of necessity.

It wasn't just because he was a top government official, but because even in the late 70s and early 80s, kidnapping of ordinary people and the murder of those in sensitive positions were rife.

My dad also used to take my siblings to the bus station or motor park, and write down the number of the bus or vehicle they entered. Too careful? No, he wasn't! Everything happening today started a long time ago, and they're being perpetrated by the same ethnic groups we were taught to be mindful of.

Those were some of the many lessons learned from him and my primary school teachers.. As a result, I don't leave home without telling people, even friendly neighbors, exactly where I'm headed.

In a society like ours, we should always inform people around us where we're going and whom we're meeting with, as well as put the information in writing.
Religion / Re: Zimbabwean Bedridden After Fasting For God To Give Him Lamborghini For His Babe by olmoRoc: 9:21am On May 25, 2021
What do you have for God to multiply so you could buy the Lamborghini? It was actually for a girlfriend who would take the car and varnish, not his wife. He needs to read the entire bible instead of tempting God.

I wonder if he understood what God must have told ihim during the fasting.

Religion / Re: Christian Struggling With Marijuana Addiction by olmoRoc: 4:03am On May 24, 2021
JahBwoy:
Hi guys. Wow never knew there would be a day I'd be posting on this side of the forum. Glory be to God.

I'm finding my paths to spirituality. My goal has always been to establish a relationship, a Communion with God. Knowing that he is with me and hearing my prayers ...

But I've been struggling with Marijuana addiction. And the devil often use this addiction to remind me of how far I am from God's grace. Even in the middle of prayers .

It's unfortunate that I've made the habit a must do in my life and it is difficult to quit. Always thought a job could help me but I find myself using it as an escape to work stress.

I'm at a point where I feel that this habit is the only thing separating me from God's entire will in my life. I have deep convictions that I have a ministry to fulfill. I have faith that it will soon be a thing of the past , as I continually seek God's intervention.

Guys who has been in my shoes before? How did you overcome? How do you deal with the recurrent guilt ?

How does smoking (weed) or drinking make you a bad Christian or not a child of God? Nigeria is supposed to be a very religious country, but look at all the ills happening through the length and breadth of the country.

Whether or not you drink liquor or smoke whatever, love God, and love your neighbors.

I still send money to my ex because I know she needs it. It's not because I have any ulterior motives, and I'm not going to accept her back because we were simply not compatible.

And I've done the same to most of the women I've dated in the past 20 years.

If you don't need the money, then do as suggested above. Reject or send it back.

Autos / Re: Coolray: GEELY Nigeria Introduces Its New High-Tech Sporty Compact SUV Model by olmoRoc: 5:31am On May 20, 2021

Wow this is massive. You also get 1-year premium comprehensive insurance and 1-year free full service for the first 50 buyers of the Coolray

A free 1 year comprehensive insurance coverage is usually an addon to a new car purchased in many Asian countries.

And in some cases, you get to choose your preferred insurer from a list of insurance companies.
Health / Re: Working 55 Hours A Week Increases Risk Of Death: UN by olmoRoc: 3:58am On May 18, 2021
leksdigital:
It's funny how we have normalize nonsense in this part of the world, you will even hear people boasting of how they work 14 hours a day and sleep for 2 hours like it's an achievement. An average Nigerian works 10 hours daily then spends another 5 hours in traffic.

This is why I love white folks. There is no time you go to the beach that you don't meet them there. These guys work hard but they understand you need to refuel, they come to the sea and relax. You notice how relaxing the beach are. It's therapeutic. It has a way of just easing your stress.
But you will see Nigerians, Monday to Friday you will wake up by 4:3am get on the road by 5am , get to work by 6;30 , then work from 6:30 to 7:00 because it's a crime for anyone to close at work at 5pm normal closing time. You'd be seen as unserious. Then when you finally close, you chill a little to avoid traffic or just enter the traffic.
If you enter traffic, you will spend another 3 hours to get home, by 10pm
If you chill till 9;30 you will get home by 11pm.

Most Nigerians spend 4 to 7 hours on the road daily.
Then Saturday that you are supposed to rest, it's one family engagement or owanbe which is equivalent to work. Cos the kind of dance people dance at party these days grin it's more than work o. Then you leave the party drunk which will further weaken your immune system which is already weak due to stress.
Then on Sunday , you go to church, from Church you'd go shopping for the things you need the coming week.
You Get home start making food for the new week. By evening na house fellowship. You'd come back tired, and the cycle begins the following week. Even God your creator rested on the seventh day.

Then you get burn out, instead of some people to take leave they will convert it to money and even get burned out more. and the ones that decides to take leave will spend it not even resting cos half of the time your company is still sending you work and you are working from home., There is no way you can be innovative under such situation.

Nobody gets creative in that kind of settings.

This is why I have learnt one thing, apart from the fact that I work from home as a freelancer, I spend my Mondays chilling at a luxury beach. Then work starts monday evening, then work till Friday. Saturday is work and rest then sunday evening is work

Some people in America work up to 19 hrs every day. 48 to 60 hrs weekly is the norm for low income earners, while those who have lots of mouths to feed, especially single parent, have multiple jobs. Meaning they can do anywhere between 14 to 19 hrs for about 5 days weekly. And I'm not referring to only immigrants.

It's the same thing in other Western or first world countries.

I don’t understand all this nonsense about dementia, one would think that the man was some mental giant before now.

The so-called dementia as a sign of deteriorating health is hogwash. The man was always a mumu.

Indeed, he was. Idiagbon the actual head of state, while buhari was just ceremonial. And it's what has been happening since 2015. He's just a figurehead rubber-stamp president.

Hmmm

You're right. However, are the people who championed his candidacy any better? Weren't they grown men in the early 1980s?

I was only a teenager at the time. Yet, I knew the manner of destruction, decay and decadence brought by that evil regime.

This is more like a thief who stole a pot of exotic soup, which was later rescued from him. Years later, you nominated and elected the same thief as the best candidate to watch over the same pot of soup.

What did you expect him to do with it?

Hmm! At least they're not praying against Jubrin from Sudan anymore.

We ought to stop tempting God. It's God Almighty who gave the wisdom and knowledge to the researchers and scientists who came up with the vaccines. The same God who gave the Wright brothers the knowledge to conceive the novel idea for the airplane which led to the invention of the private jets the Nigerian pastors are all clamoring to have today. It's also the same God who gave wisdom to the inventors of the automobile, a/c, TV, projectors, etc.

If we're not taking the vaccine, then we, as Christians, should stop using any of the technological inventions mentioned above, and many more.
