Family / Re: Stepdaughter by Oluchia(f): 2:29pm On Mar 10, 2009 |
@radiant and Ezinne There is no hole in the story joh I have cousins that have a step mum and lived with them for a while. I used to believe their stories about how bad and devilish their stepmum was, until I was opportuned to live with them. Mehn, I use to feel sorry for that woman. She was always going out of her way to please them but despite all her efforts trying to make friends with them,My cousins made life terrible for her. They simply refused to acknowledge and accept her as their mum, they don't respect her, hardly go on errands for her except when their dad is around and puts his foot down. At a point, the woman stopped trying to make things work. In fact she was practically ignoring them. They were just 12 and 14 yrs then. Her own was even worse as they were staying in the family house with my Grand mom. And trust Grandmums now, the children are always right. So the woman found it difficult handling the Children the way she ought to for fear of what people will say. Believe me, most step children already have this hatred for their stepmums even before she comes into the picture. Its a kind of defence mechanism they create around themselves against 'the evil step mum' who supposedly took their mother's rightful place. And they grow up with the same animosity if not nipped in the bud at the early stage. And it will only take the grace of God for them to have a change of mind. My cousins are adults now, though not living with their parents anymore, but their r/ship with their step mum havent realy changed much except that they just try to tolerate each other each time they meet. @OP Am sorry but you may have to accept it and pray she gets married, cos at 29, I doubt if there is much u can do. But you can try the advise of talking with her and see if it works. Obviously the father didnt make enough effort to drive it into her head when she was still young, that you are now her Mum and she had no choice than to accept that; because the truth is that He was the only one who could have done that. |

Nairaland / General / Re: Employers And Job Seekers: Any Problems With Our Job Forum? by Oluchia(f): 8:31am On Oct 17, 2008 |
Hollandis and Yicob exactly spoke my mind on the issue. The job section is no longer what it used to be. It was this section that made me join nairaland 2years ago when I was still jobhunting and the informations I got then helped me in securing the job that I have today. Sadly, this is no longer the case, I still do come here hoping to get job links for my friends who are still searching for jobs and all I get are bloggers directing one to their sites with outdated vacancies and spammers copying and pasting the same vacancies over and over again. I think these should be restricted. |

Jobs/Vacancies / Re: Mtn Staffs Is This True. by Oluchia(f): 9:16am On Mar 28, 2008 |
femol: Which category of MTN Contract staff are u talking about? Maybe u are refering to the Expatriates or the Top Management and Technical Consultants, definitely not the graduates employed as Call Center Agents. The poster is right and take it from me, that is the first hand info. And for those saying MTN takes in SSCE and OND as Call center agents, I can also tell u that MTN takes nothing less than HND as Contract some even hold Masters degree. Infact, it is even among the permanent staff that you can get people with less qualifications like OND although most of them have now upgraded their Qualifications courtsey of the Benefits they enjoy through MTN learning and training Program. |

Family / Re: Where Should My Wedding Be? by Oluchia(f): 10:16am On Feb 19, 2008 |
4Him: I agree with 4Him but some other things still have to be put into consideration. Will it be easier for your Fiance's folks to come to US for the wedding or the other way round for your parents? You said almost all your family members and that of your fiance stay in Nigeria. Now except if you don't mind having a wedding with only your parents and a few guests in attendance, I think you should consider having it in Nigeria. Weddings in Nigeria are 'family affairs', where every extended member of the family incuding great-grand uncles will like to attend Talk to your parents and weigh the options available. As per the wedding venue and plans, that should be your family's prerogative. The Wedding should be in your own Family Church not that of your fiance. |

Please Musacool, Kindly shed more light on this as some of us can't get The Guardian Newspaper. Is the format to be on excel sheet or is it for one's cv? If it's in excel, do we save in a paricular name and do we still attach our cv to the mail? Any Title for the subject of the mail? |

Have you been contacted for interview? |
Jobs/Vacancies / Re: Virgin Nigeria Interview by Oluchia(f): 12:46pm On Jan 30, 2008 |
I agree with rman. I think they're one of the few companies that are transparent in their recruitment processes. I applied sometime last year when they advertised for customer service position. I didn't know anybody there but was called for the test which I passed, went for the computer assessment test, passed that too and was finally invited for the interview. Guess I didn't make it there cos I didn't hear from them again. Those that didn't make it were told to reapply after six months and they sure kept to their words cos I was called again for the second time after applying to the advert they placed 2 months ago (I still do not know anybody there) and hopefully I'll make it this time around. So pls keep checking their website and keep applying, U'll get there. |

Oh well, I think you may have to take the risk or better still if you're not yet sure of when they will transfer you, you can go ahead with the Part-time pending when you will be tranfered, then you can tender in your resignation letter. Who knows, it may not be so soon. |
Jobs/Vacancies / Re: Please Help Me! by Oluchia(f): 9:28am On Jan 30, 2008 |
Is it not possible for you to run the programme on a part-time basis? This way you can still keep your job until you get a better offer, since a bird at hand is worth two in the bush. |
Family / Re: My Marriage Is Dying Before My Eyes: Help by Oluchia(f): 10:02am On Jan 22, 2008 |
the singing was still going on,i went back to the bedroom because i was so scared for my dear life-i do not understand efik mind you,and everyone looked at me like i was the devil himself.a short while l8r,i heard a lady saying in english'where is she?please bring her out here let me thrash her thoroughly like a criminal'my hubby now walks in and says'ehm please come and greet my mom's sister'.mind you this mom's sister was the 1 saying she wanted to flog me Richyblack, Did you read the statement in bold? Now whether it was an actual intent or not, the point is that they disrespected and ridiculed her right in the presence of her husband and mother and I bet you, few mothers will condole that and to make matters worse, the husband did nothing about it. So quit blaming the woman, it was her own way of expressing her anger and protecting her daughter. |
Politics / Re: N20 Note Is Not Durable, It Tears Easily by Oluchia(f): 8:44am On Jan 16, 2008 |
make we hear word jare, its a pity how destructive nigerians av become, isnt it obvious that for that note to tear it must be cut with a razor or sumtin sharp, and u sit there and say soludo shld apologise did he make nigerians so senseless as actually testing if the notes cld really tear and by so doing cutting it themselves some nigerians are so irresponsible Laughing my ass off Abeg take am easy on the guy o , but seriously, I agree with u. Nigerians can be so annoying. The material used for that note is like nylon and should not tear easily if handled properly, it has to take someone actually going out of his way to try it for it to tear. I think what Nigerians need is serious orientation on how to handle the currency which the CBN and the Fed Govt are already doing. I just hope it will work. |
Religion / Re: Do The Dead In Christ Go To Heaven Or Await Ressurrection? by Oluchia(f): 11:31am On Jan 15, 2008 |
@Olabowale What has the discussion above got to do with the Trinity? Don't dabble into a discussion you know nothing about. The topic if am not mistaken is for christians trying to get a better understanding of what happens to the dead in Christ from their understanding of the scriptures and not about the Trinity. So please, kindly shift to a muslim thread so we can learn from the house. |

Religion / Re: Did We Really Have Past Lives? by Oluchia(f): 9:12am On Jan 03, 2008 |
I thot evil spirits only come to steal kill and destroy but why didnt those evil spirits do that, if they really were evil spirits which i totally doubt Not only to kill and destroy, but also to deceive and make people believe a lie which is exactly what the devil is doing. This he started doing right from the garden of Eden when he lied to Eve that 'she shall not surely die' and went ahead to deceive her into eating the forbidden fruit after being warned by God not to or else they will die. And since then, he has not relented in his efforts to make God a liar and thus leading millions astray which is why the Bible calls him 'a liar and the father of all lies' Jn 8:44 |

Religion / Re: Teacher Arrested In Sudan Over A Bear Named Muhammad. by Oluchia(f): 8:43am On Dec 04, 2007 |
grafikdon: Very true. Personally I've tried to understand the reason behind their actions but I just can't get it. Even putting religion aside, as in thinking from an aetheist point of view, it still does not make any sense to me. I mean, don't they have consciensce? How do they find it so easy killing their fellow human beign all in the name of religion? I wept when I heard about the murder of that teacher by Gombe students . These are SS1 students for crying out loud!! What does the future hold for Nigeria with these little terrorists who we hope will be the leaders of tomorrow? |
Religion / Re: Teacher Arrested In Sudan Over A Bear Named Muhammad. by Oluchia(f): 11:27am On Nov 29, 2007 |
@Glorya Infact, 'getting on my nerves' is an understatement compared to my own feelings about the whole issue. I just can't believe this especially after reading the comments from olabowale here on Nairaland. It makes me begin to fear for my own life o. If someone as educated as he is, can think like this, then what do we expect the illiterate muslims scattered all over Nigeria to do? I just don't understand the rational behind their actions. May God help all of us. |
Jobs/Vacancies / Re: I Need Your Advice. by Oluchia(f): 7:48am On Nov 28, 2007 |
Follow ABJ001's advise and don't bother urself about getting any BSc. Besides you have an upper credit which gives u an advantage even over most BSc holders, so getting a good job won't be difficult for u. There are so many Organisations that don't discriminate against HNDs, Just put your ears to the ground, find out when they're recruiting and keep applying. The sky will be your limit. |
Jobs/Vacancies / Re: Why Do Every Graduate Want To Work In A Bank by Oluchia(f): 4:20pm On Nov 27, 2007 |
Not every graduate. I for one don't want to work in a bank . And I have so many of my banker friends who would prefer working elsewhere, but since about 80% of graduate recruitment in the country is from the banking sector, one doesn't really have much choice than to join the bandwagon instead of staying jobless . At least half bread they say, is better than none. |
