Really? I don't blame u. U can sit down there and call people's comment rubbish because you are not in the Guy's shoe. Let's call a spade a spade, Oceanic bank was WRONG. They have their criteria for recruitment, they went ahead and shortlisted this guy for a test knowing fully well that he had a Pass in English, Ok Let us assume there was an oversight then, they still went ahead and called him for an interview after passing the test, still they didn't realize that he had a pass in English. As if that wasn't enough, he was given an employment letter. There HR must be a big Joke! Infact, I don't think the problem was with the Grade, I'm sure something else is at play here and they just used this to lay off the guy.

I understand your fears about Mactay, but be rest assured that it is very genuine.

@Boyoyo
I don't know how you arrived at that conclusion, but Mactay is a registered consulting firm. It might not be as big as Phillip consulting but with the way they are going, I can assure you that they will soon be competing with them. I don't know other companies that they recruit for, but I can assure u they recruit for MTN. So if you don't want to miss an opportunity you better apply. If you are not comfortable with the sms method, you can apply online with this link http://mactayconsulting.com/lds/talenthuthome.htm

Family / Re: What Are The Benefits And The Challenges Of Being The First Or Last Born. by Oluchia(f): 4:13pm On Aug 06, 2007
Well, I'm the first born in my family and there are both benefits and challenges attached to being a firstborn but I think the challenges are more than the benefits. Right from when I was a kid, it has always beign drummed into my ears especially when I do something bad. Even when my younger ones are the ones at fault, I always take the blame for virtually everything. The good thing about it is that it molded me to what I am today since I had to work extra harder to meet up to expectations in every aspect of my life and that is where the benefit comes in. I earned the respect of both my parents and siblings. But it's not easy sha especially now that I happen to be the only one working, the financial responsibility is something else.

Thanks for the concern. Actually I don't have any physical problem so to say. I've done a little research on my own and found out that most times there are no symptoms except for maybe heavy menstrual flow and abdominal pains. And so far I've not experienced any of these but I'm still worried about the size cos I can feel it with my hands if I'm lying down flat on my back. From the report, the size is 73mm x 86mm as against that of the uterus which is 90mm x 117(AP x Length). So what do you think?

Health / I Have A Fibroid: What Do I Do? by Oluchia(f): 10:05am On Jul 31, 2007
Recently, I noticed that my tummy was getting a little bigger than normal and considering the fact that Fibroid seems to run in my family as my two Aunties suffered from it, I became suspicious.

I had to go for a pelvic scan yesterday, and lo and behold my worst fear was comfirmed; I have posterior Fibroid. i'm so scared and confussed and I don't know what to do. Although the doctor said it's a small growth and that surgery might not be needed yet, I'm afraid it might get bigger and more complicated if nothing is done.

One of my friends suggested using herbal medicine but I'm not sure about that either. Please can someone help me? cry

I remember When I was a kid in Onitsha, the Yorubas then had their 'Oba' and we used to call him Eze ndi Yoruba. His 'Palace' was very close to our house and nobody was bothered about them. He was acting as their representative then and really commanded a lot of respect, and was a kind of security for them as nobody takes any action against a Yoruba then without reporting to the Chief first. It did not take anything away from the Obi of Onitsha.
Seriously, I don't see any reason for this whole drama. I think it is just a way of them trying to create an identity for themselves in another man's land. Infact I was wondering if we have such in the North, b/c that is where we really need it, at least for the safety of our people over (ie if it will work).

I want to believe your friend was joking. He was probably just trying to make you understand the seriousness of the issue.

On a more serious note, the deed has already been done. The only thing you can do is to ask for the girl's forgiveness and own up to your responsibility to both her and the child. If you're truly sorry for what you did, ask God for forgiveness and move close to him, He will forgive you because he is merciful. We are saved by His grace and not through Koboko. grin grin

Family / Re: Do You Have A Step Mum? by Oluchia(f): 3:03pm On Jul 16, 2007
malaika:

I am a step mum and my view is: when a woman truly loves a man she will do anything to please him and his child(ren). Women have big hearts. The problem is that a lot of children have this view of "the evil stepmother" and no matter how good and genuine the step mum is, they will always treat her like "the evil stepmother". I am still young and very new at this stepmother business, but already I can see that whatever I do for my stepdaughter will never be good enough to gain her love and trust. So I'm getting to a point where I won't put in any more effort, to avoid being hurt further. Maybe that's the reason step mums seem like they don't care, they've tried and given up,

You are right about that! I've never had a step- mum but I have cousins with a step mother and I stayed with them for a while. Agreed some step-moms can be a pain in the neck but the children's attitude most times leave nothing to be desired. My Uncle's wife had a hell of a time trying to raise the kids, and she had to contend with my grand mum who was staying with them then. As far as she was concerned, the kids were never wrong. To make matters worse, the step mother had no child of her own, and so any little attempt by her to correct or chastise the children was always regarded as "wickedness from a frustrated barren woman". My cousins had no iota of respect for her, and I used to feel so sorry for her. Although now, b/c they are all grown ups, they maintain a cordial r/ship.
I feel you though, but don't give up. I know it's not easy but just keep doing what you can. The Lord is your strenght. Cheers.

LiquidMind:

What about the people that say they keep seen their dead relatives in there dreams

I think such soul's are still wondering in the land of the dead

Dreams can be  Psychological or Spiritual in nature.
I'm not a psychologist but I know that dreams can be as a result of the state of mind of the person involved and sometimes the devil capitalizes on this to instil fear and doubts in us. We should not forget who the devil is and so nothing should come to us as a suprise. He can impersonate anybody he wants to as there are more demons on Earth than there are human beings. These are called familiar spirits and God warns that we should not consult them (Isaiah 8:19). Remember the case of King Saul who went to inquire from a Witch to invoke the spirit of Samuel (1 Samuel Chapter 28).  Sure the witch succeded in bringing up someone that looks like Samuel who equally told Saul exactly what will happen to him if he goes to battle with the Philistines(which actually came to pass later ie Saul's death), but that person definitely was not Samuel. Read the account very well and you will notice some things. Apart from the fact that it was a witch that brought up the supposed spirit of samuel and not a prophet of God, notice vs 14 "And he said unto her, what form is he of? And she said, an old man cometh up: and he is covered with a mantle. AND SAUL PERCEIVED THAT IT WAS SAMUEL, and he stooped with his face to the ground, and bowed himself". What do you think? That sounds like a fake right?

Notice also that the 'Samuel' told him exactly what will happen which later came to pass, so you shouldn't be suprised too if the so-called relation of yours you see in the dream or even in reality gives you information that   the dead relative or you alone should know about.

My Dad always tells us that if he dies today and tomorrow you see him either in your dream or in reality, you should rebuke him in the name of Jesus. We used to laugh over it, but in truth that is the only warfare we have against the enemy.
Religion / Re: Reincarnation by Oluchia(f): 2:43pm On Jul 11, 2007
@Topic
Reincarnation is a lie of the devil which he started in the Garden of Eden when he told Eve that She shall not surely die (Gen 3:4) and since then, he has been doing his best to see that lie believed and men! He sure is doing a good job at it since most Christians even believe that. Now what does the bible say about the state of the dead and what happens after death? Until we get this clearly, then we will continue debating over this issue.

Man was made a perfect being with the prospect of eternal life but with the entrance of sin, death became our lot. Romans 6:23. Now what happens when we die? When our physical body (flesh) dies, does our spirit "roam" about or goes directly to heaven or hell as the case may be?

Of all the patriachs and Prophets in the Bible, note that only two people were mentioned categorically that did not see death, Enoch (Gen 5: 24) and Elijah (2 Kings 2:11). As for Moses, there seems to be a little confusion with regards to what happened to his body after death.
Deut 34: 5 "So Moses the servant of the Lord died there in the land of Moab, according to the word of the Lord."
vs 6: "And he buried him in a valley in the land of Moab, over against Beth-peor: but no man knoweth of his sepulcher unto this day." Strange, isn't it? But we will get to that later.

So what happens when we die?
Eccl 12vs 7, "Then shall the dust return to the Earth as it was: and the spirit shall return unto God who gave it" Now the next question becomes " what is the spirit? Is it a conscious being without the physical body and if so does it mean that both the righteous and the wicked return to God at death according to the passage above?
Definitely not! otherwise Jesus statement in John 3:3 would have been meaningless- "Jesus answered and said unto him, Verily, verily, I said unto you, except a man be born again, he cannot see the Kingdom of God" And this disputes the theory that "spirit" here is a conscious being.

Now let's go back to Genesis 2:7 "And the Lord God formed man of the dust of the ground and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life; and man became a living Soul"
This implies that dust + breath of life= living soul
Soul is usually used in the bible to depict the whole personality of a human beign, like where we have "The soul that sinneth shall die" so from this we can deduce that, Body - breath of life = Dust = Dead Soul. This proves that the word "spirit" as used in Eccl 12 vs 7 is refering to the Breath of life and not a conscious being. Please Note Ps 27: 3 "All the while my breath is in me, and the Spirit of God is in my Nostrils"

As regarding the question about Jesus being Elijah, I think Trini has already answered that. Now coming to Moses' death, the Bible did not leave us in confussion as regards to what happened to his Body. Take a look at Jude vs 9, "Yet Micheal the archangel, when contending with the devil he disputed about the body of Moses, durst not bring against him a railing accusation, but said , The Lord rebuke thee." This can only mean one thing, that Moses body was taken by God since his sepulcher cannot be found to this day. Ever wondered why it was Moses and Elijah that appeared during the Transfiguration of Jesus?

Ps 6:5 "For in death there is no remembrance of thee: in the grave who shall give thee Thanks?"
Ps 115 vs 17 "The dead praise not the Lord, neither any that go down into silence"
Eccl 9:5&6 "For the living know that they shall die, but the dead know not anything, neither have they anymore a reward; for the memory of them is forgotten. Also their love, and their hatred, and their envy, is now perished; neither have they any more a portion for ever in anything that is done under the sun"
Need I say more. So when you die, You are Finito until the ressurection morning.

I've relly learnt a lot from you guys but the question still remains, if sin or rather blasphemy against the Holy spirit is saying He is an unclean spirit or speaking ill of the Holy Spirit, what is the fate of someone like Goodguy who admits having done same before he became born again. Is there no hope for him anymore? I'm thinking that Christ's statement there should not be just taken on the surface, there is a deeper meaning to that statement or what do you think?
Religion / The Sin Against The Holy Spirit: What Is It? by Oluchia(f): 7:53am On Jun 13, 2007
God is an all forgiving Father. The Bible says in Isaiah 1: 18 that though our sins be as scarlet or red like crimson, they shall be as white as snow, implying that no matter how terrible our sins are God is faithful and just to forgive us and cleanse us from all unrighteosness. As to the extent of forgiveness, Other places like Ps 103 vs 12, Mic 7:19, Is 38:17, is 43:25 Ps 51:1,9, Jer 31:34 makes it clear that God not only forgives but forgets our sins and remembers them no more. However in Matt 12vs 31 and 32, Jesus made this statement;
" Wherefore I say unto you, all manner of sin and blasphemy shall be forgiven unto men: but the blasphemy against the Holy Ghost shall not be forgiven unto men. And whosoever speaketh a word against the son of man, it shall be forgiven him: but whosoever speaketh against the Holy Ghost, it shall not be forgiven him, neither in this World, neither in the World to come."
Now how do we harmonize these or better still what exactly is this Sin against the Holy spirit?
