Nothing bad with allowances as long as the couple have agreed that the woman should sit at home for the sake of the family. House wifing is a full time job/employment on its own.

Whether Love or Arranged, what matters most is that the two should understand themselves and love each other cos it is a life time agreement

Kobojunkie:

A couple of questions for you please. . . .
1) There are about 140 million Nigerians (140,000,000) living in Nigeria full time. Does Nigeria really need the (10,000,000) or more Nigerians abroad to come back for change to happen?
2) Does someone have to suggest that a religious riot take place before it can happen? The reason I ask is I happen to be one of those who mentioned that a civil war is not completely impossible given what we know of the discord between tribes and peoples in Nigeria to this day.

1) You mean sort of like AIDS existed abroad and now has a home in Nigeria? I am not exactly sure what mentioning all the UNCONTROLLABLES above have to do with anything. Can you please explain?
2) Isn’t it reasonable to assume that as long as humans exist, there will always be corruption, war, crime etc? I would think that by now we would understand and accept that we cannot completely do away with these but can measure success in how able we are in checking the problem?

1. The answer to the first question can only be answered by the 10,000,000 or more Nigerians abroad. If they think the nation needs them for the change, they could do their part and if the other way, it all depends on the individual.
2.If you read my post you will see that I did not and support a religious or civil war.
2b.You are saying exactly what I mean but not for Nuzo to come on air cos NL is free to say 'I am about to give up in Nigeria.'

nuzo:

Why bother asking her these questions?
Did you really think that she thought about the issues at stake before commenting pointlessly?
WHY WHY is your answer again.
WHY should you come and inform us that you want to loose hope in Nigeria when it is so obvious you have lost the hope already? So many people have lost hope and more people will while many have refused to lost and will not lost hope, so you don't have to come and tell us that as if your absence is missed in the country.
I wonder if Nigeria herself has not lost hope in you

can you back up your claims biblically? Where does the Bible say christians should not go to hospitals or use drugs?
I respect you more than this, why should you mind these people? Can't you just read some posts and leave them expecially in cases like this. It is not every question that needs an answer some have their answers by ignoring them
Religion / Re: Why Do People Call Their Pastors Daddy? by oluwdashmi(f): 3:03pm On May 14, 2009
@ topic
It is just to give respect although it is not compulsory cos I don't do so to every pastor.

fellis:

What about one's blood father? Is there provision for that?
You spoke my mind

KunleOshob:

The scripture i quoted was talking about calling someone in church father(i.e pastor, GO, e.t.c) and NOt one's blood father.
Kunle, if this is the way you want to translate it like you always do by turning the bible upside down, I bet you are wrong cos the bible did not say in the church. Church is different from Earth, for earth comprises of everything in it.

And verse 10 of that scripture says "Neither be ye called Masters: for one is your Master, even Christ"

So how do you translate this? That you will not call your boss by boss or Master by Master or that you will not be called Boss by the people you superceed and supervise at work? Be careful with your translations and I have always told you that your purpose of studying the bible is to criticize and mislead as a top agent.

Remember when they used to say "Sandra" from Glamour Girls was dead? The person must have heard it from one of his friends who attended the same church with one of Sandra's friends.
This was not heard from someone it is a confirmed story, he even told me about the lady and the first son while the second son is less than a year now. Everyone in the church knows cos its not a hidden thing, and she gave a testimony after Tuface recovered from the last gun shots. There was a day he (my friend) wanted to pick something close to the lady and some how in her bible he saw Tuface's picture which he took with the lady and the baby (she sometimes raises the pictures during prayer). The church is at Mulero b/s along Iyana Ipaja road (name withheld).

Tu Face is lieing, he probably has more than that. A friend of mine attends the same church with one of his girlfriends and he said the lady has 2 kids for Tu Face and they really look like him. He even said the lady comes to church with Tu Face's pictures and sometimes raises it during prayer.

Everyone keeps saying Nigeria is bad, Nigeria is this or that as if the country will take a new look authomatically. If you stay out there and talk down the country just like that, then who makes the change? Do you expect the country to change from ordinary posts on NL or where? And for those of you suggesting a civil war, will you instigate it and take the lead? I pray you don't perish with your families before the end of the war.

For all I care, anyone who likes should come back to Nigeria and anyone who cares should stay where he is, a day will come when you will be back in the country, probably when you die and your corpse in sent for burial, when change comes and you want to come and drink of the milk you never laboured for, when you are deported or the list is endless.

The so called abroad you die for has probs that varies. It is either they have swine flu, earthquake, tsunami, war, corruption too and all sort of, who cares where you choose to live, its your headache

GADDEMIT - This city is BEAUTIFUL. i visited Abuja a coupla times but never saw it completely.

Hmmm, this one go hard o. I dont think there is anyway lagos can be like this - unless you want the Guv'nor to demolish all the structures in the state and start rebuilding again.

These are just pictures of beautiful places in Abuja what about their local places, if we are to post pictures of current Lagos, you know we will all post wonderful ones now. smiley

Nice one,  now, let half of Lagos population move there,  smiley smiley smiley

Don't mind them. The population of Lagos swallows Abuja 3 times. And the survival you get in Lagos cannot be compared to Abuja. smiley

Harrods the most expensive store in the UK, is owned by an Egyptian. Does that make Britain Egyptian? Huh

Lagos is home to many tribes, not only Yoruba and Igbo. However, anyone doubting the original owners of lagos are Yoruba, needs to stop smoking weed and get into rehab!

End of story!
@tpiah
I don't mean any insult but just a clarification.

From the above post, do you mean that Lagos is owned by yoruba? If yes, cool talk but if no take a look at the Nigerian map and decide which zonal region the state falls. smiley

Romance / Re: Ladies, Can You Marry A Sickle Cell Sufferer? by oluwdashmi(f): 3:57pm On May 11, 2009
If HIV negative pple marry the victim, what stops me from marrying a sickle cell sufferer as long as I love him and he matches my heart. There are one million and one sicklecell sufferers out there and if no one has been marrying them then what has been happening?

The only thing is that it is only an AA genotype carrier that should marry a sufferer or else they will hate each other when the troubles begin.

Business / Re: Outsourcing Business In Nigeria: Why Can't It Work? by oluwdashmi(f): 8:38am On May 11, 2009
promise72:

Sorry to break it to you guys. NIGERIANS ARE BY AND LARGE LAZY PEOPLE. Especially back home. We dont have problem working 2-3jobs overseas but not at home.

Dishonestly is also the name of the game. A Yoruba proverb say that "oga ta, oga ko ta, owo alaru a pe". Loosly meaning "Irrespective of the masters prospect, the servant will get paid"

Many people operate by that mentality unfortunately. They have forgotten that the fate of the master and the servant are intertwined.

Once again, we are very lazy people. And yes, the power issue too.

I totally disagree with this statement. If you are lazy, it is better you speak for yourself and people around you, not generalising it. Nigerians (except you and the few you are indirectly referring to) are energetic, strong willed, rugged and smart people.

Nigerian Secondary Schools use pidgin to teach, most especially public schools. Is this right?

Be specific! Which Nigerian secondary schools teach with pidgin english? Which state? Stop generalising whenever you are talking and stop abusing this country, try to make a good and specific point.

argent:

Traditional marriage is the real marriage every other form is just making it official. As long as both parties parents give their consent to the union and bless the union, then every other form is just unnecessary ceremony and sheer waste of money.
Yeah! true talk!

jobi rash:

so you wont be bless by a pastor?
The pastor can come to the venue to say his prayer and if no "Titled" pastor is there, is there no christian among the people available who can say a prayer? God is not peculiar about the pastor's voice but about anyone who can decree and believe what he says has been answered.

Also, the prayer of a pastor at the venue/alter as little or nothing to do with whether the union will last or not, what matters most is the couple's understanding and transparency to each other. There are several cases of alter wedding at the magistrate courts waiting to be dissolved ASAP while those who never stepped the alter last longer.

Celebrities / Re: Liz Benson Re-marries Atlast by oluwdashmi(f): 1:50pm On Apr 30, 2009
Redman44:

I wish Liz Benson the best of everything. I've seen in her in some Nigerian home videos [ I don't call the films or Movies, because they are not!! ] and she is really a good actress. However, I believe she has not achieved her full potentials in acting. She should be a screen Goddess in Africa by now. I believe Liz Benson should have played Oba [ Sango's senior wife ] in Femi Lasode's SANGO: THE LEGENDARY AFRICAN KING. You can see the full movie on Youtube. Oba was a very beautiful woman and she had the same build like Liz Benson. If she had been in that movie [ which was well produced and was screened in Europe and the United States ], her profile would have soared higher internationally. The lady that played Oya [ Sango's favourite and magical wife ] got a foreign contract after the movie was released. She moved to the states in a matter of months. Anyway, I admire Liz Benson. Cheers.
What is all this story/complain about?

Career / Re: A Boss Who Will Never Say 'You Have Done Well' by oluwdashmi(f): 3:20pm On Apr 20, 2009
Start looking for a better one although, it is rare to find bosses who will always appreciate you but you will have peace and be able to plan your career. Besides, no matter how he makes you do more job, do not fail to build your career along cos he has built his and if you are not careful, you will leave your life and continue to build his life higher.
