Politics / Re: Lagosians: Is Fashola The Expected Messiah? by oluwdashmi(f): 1:32pm On Nov 21, 2008
But why are you guys praising the man for what he is employed/appointed/elected/selected to do? The man is just doing what ordinarily should be his job description as a governor. It is only in Nigeria that public office holders are celebrated for doing what they are suppossed to do.

What else is he f*#cking there for other than to fix the roads, the street lights, hospitals, etc?

@ bodsibobo
Let me ask you this question. Have you ever asked yourself why people get promoted at work for being committed? Afterall they are appointed for such purposes. When you say 'thank you' to your driver, maid, security, okada man etc, does it mean you are a fool? NO!!!!!!
It simply means you are appreciating that person for not failing you or trying to please you and also to encourage him.

Now your answer.
Yes, he was elected for these purposes but if he doesn't do them, what can you do? Have you any power to remove him from power? Those who have ruled in the past or still ruling in other states and doing nothing for their states, what do people do but to what and see 2 terms past in vain.

This is why you appreciate a person for doing what he is appointed to do. One more thing, be objective whenever you are passing a judgment because it may be a seed that you will reap when you also get to such positions.
Business / Re: Entire Computer Village Shut Down Over Tax by oluwdashmi(f): 1:12pm On Nov 21, 2008
Quote from: RevMallam on Today at 01:12:04 AM
The problem with Nigerian is that they want it both ways. They want a good country and everything for "free" provided for by the "government". Yet, when anyone tries to implement those, they complain.
Well, here in America, if you don't pay your tax, you get thrown in jail. Your Car, House and anything of value that you own gets taken by the government and auctioned off at whatever price the government can get for it. If after selling your stuff and they did not make enough money, you owe the balance.
Tax evasion is a serious crime that ruins your credit and that's just the start of your problems. With a ruined credit, you can not get a "good job". If they government convicts you of a felony, which tax evasion is, then you will not be able to vote again in many states.
They should stay shut down till they pay their taxes. While they are it, they should go after BBC, CNN etc. Fact is they doing business without paying taxes.
Wake Nigerians.
Revmallam

Good talk!!!
You really impressed me. We don't want to be disciplined in this country but we want the best. All that Nigerians can do is to compare Nigeria with the US but are never ready to pay the price.

You don't have to inconvenience yourself to please anybody except GOD. So, be yourself.
If that parish is not ok by you any longer, you can find another parish/church.

Moreso, RCCG said you should obey people in authourity, agreed! but not to do so by force to the extent that you lack in your studies.

Cheesy I had similar experince when i went for a interview, i was shaking within me. a question was ask what is the past tense of undertake out of fear i answer under-went. bro & sis i maintained eye contact with the interviewer. He repeated the question i answer the same thing. he score me 4 , i came out laughing at myself. what i know i could not answer again because of fear.
@ ijeuzo

You made me laugh so much as I remembered I once had the same experienced.

I went for an interview and along the line I was asked the past participle of GO, i immediately said GONE. Then I was asked EAT and said EATEN. Then one of the interviewer said I should use EATEN in sentence, I said HE HAS BEEN EATEN. The head of the interviewer then said do I mean the boy was eaten by a lion, I replied that no I mean he has taken his food. I should have said HE HAS EATEN, which I knew very well but wouldn't know how I said it.

Funny enough, having realised my mistake, I even tried to argue with them so as not to loose but later kept quiet and remained bold. I guess I scaled through due to my boldness.

Health / Re: Doctors Say Marrow Transplant May Have Cured Aids by oluwdashmi(f): 3:08pm On Nov 14, 2008
So what came of the conference Abalaka held in Canana,is it?It was held 2 years ago.Perhaps he did find a cure, but he shouldn't have sought validation from his government,if none was to be had. Texazzpete is correct. You discover the cure for AIDS, you have the world at your feet and no government can stop you or 'kill your dreams'.Perhaps the man is a patriot and wanted Nigeria to get recognition for his find. But he's an educated man,not an illiterate herbalist. A scientist knows the way to peer-reviewed journals and Foundations willing to sponsor further research, and the credit would still go to him and to the country he's from, irrespective of where the support comes from.

You discover the cure for AIDS,you'd nearly go insane from the fire of your find. It's like a cure for cancer. Lack of government support would not put that fire out.

He should prove once and for all he has the cure for the danged thing,or shut the hell up already.

@ Mad_max

You got my point!
Health / Re: Doctors Say Marrow Transplant May Have Cured Aids by oluwdashmi(f): 10:31am On Nov 14, 2008
I still believe AIDS can be cured with herbs especially from pple who inherited herbal from father or grandfather but let the person prove it and prove it well so as not to cause more danger into pple's health.
Health / Re: Doctors Say Marrow Transplant May Have Cured Aids by oluwdashmi(f): 10:26am On Nov 14, 2008
First off, i must express my EXTREME dissapointment with all these boneheads talking about Abalaka. Did the Wright brothers receive Government help before they flew their plane? Did Galileo receive government help?

The man says he made his cure from low cost herbs and stuff. There are thousands of Nigerians living with HIV/Aids in Bonny and Benue state, do you think if he had set up shop there with his so called 'cure' he wouldnt have been rolling in dough and been world famous?
He challenged the Government to send proven cases of HIV to him. Does he not know where he could get thousands to experiment on?

The truth is Abalaka never had the cure. It defies logic that someone would hold the holy grail of medicine and be complaining of lack of Government support. Some people just thrive on the attention, like those guys in the US that claimed they had found a corpse of Bigfoot. Shame some people here on Nairaland are easily misled.

@ texazzpete
Cool talk.

@ TEX-ASS-PETE You are the real BONEHEAD here. Look at your life and tell me what claims YOU have.

It is better to be a spoke in a rolling Wheel than a be HUGE Wheel not rolling at all.

If you don't believe in good things, at least don't discourage others.

All I have said is that, if it were in an advanced country, government will at least give a listening ear, not ban him. If ur sorry-ass must know, the man's drugs were banned.

So, how would he have gone to your villa, where there's a scourge of the dreaded disease to treat them.

I have no affiliations with DR. Abalaka, but I appreciate an effort when I see one.

Please, I am not here for flames, I just hate it when I see some little boy just of university with loose morale.

It is because of your likes government is afraid to sign the FOI bill. It isnt signed yet and you're running your mouth (or your Thoughts) like tap water already, what happens when it is signed??

@basking4me

You don't need to react that way at tex-ass-pete. The truth is that the govt can not just spend money on people like Abalaka. If the cure is from the herbs, he should have done enough experiment in his neighbourhood and his works will speak for him. If the government helps him or not, he can fulfill his dreams by curing people individually. The ministry of health may have conducted a test on his works and find it even poisonous or aggravating.

Maybe the Ministry of health will spend billions of Naira soon to order equipment for marrow transplant to cure AIDS in the country.

Nigerians who have ideas have never been encouraged by past governments.

e.g.
1. Dr Ezekiel Izuogu- Nigerian made car Z-600

http://www.nigeriamasterweb.com/1stNigerianMadeCarNews.html

2. Brino Gilbert - Counter Collision Gadget (CCG) a device that has the capacity to avert accidents on the road, air, sea and rail.
http://www.edofolks.com/html/pub138.htm

3. Mohammed Bah Abbah - pot-in-pot cooling system for refrigeration.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mohammed_Bah_Abba

4. Philip Emeagwali - Gordon Bell Prize winner on computing with over 41 inventions submitted to the US. Patent and Trademark Office.

http://wiki.answers.com/Q/Name_some_Nigerian_inventors

THIS IS THE REASON WE LACK INDEGINOUS POWER, MEDICAL CARE, RAIL ROAD AND GENERAL TRANSPORTATION, ETC
AND WE HAVE NOTHING TO SELL TO THE WORLD OTHER THAN OUR HUMAN RESOURCES AND OIL.

Its really not whether its govt duty to support them or not, but what do you think when these people are asking for the support or recognition from a govt that when unseated will be blamed for billions of unaccounted naira. I am sure the Wright brothers got support from their govt at the time either license to try their invention or the piece of land to experiment.

@iukpe

You are really right! I believe in supporting provable ideas from determined people. Such people with great ideas and passion for fulfillment will not stop climbing until help comes from somewhere (not necessarily your country especially if your idea is not welcomed).

Abalaka or whatever should have cured and continue curing HIV/AIDS people who are interested if truly he is determined and sure of himself. When people he cures do several other medical tests and testify, then someone will sponsor him.

aids is not real, it`s just an american idealogy of disturbing sex,

@adebayo300
I pity you. May u not fall victim before realising the gravity of ignorance you just confessed.
Family / Re: Children Raised In Nigeria Are Better? by oluwdashmi(f): 10:35am On Nov 13, 2008
Kids brought up in Nigeria are far better in manners than those brought up abroad.

Also, children with foundational education in Nigeria would do better any where in the world cos Nigeria takes you round so many subject/courses which expands your intellect.

If not how can someone who studied animal science and other unrelated courses work in a bank? That is why some parents send their children down to Nigeria for schooling. With that, there is no part of the world you find yourself that you won't cope when others are dying. You know we are rouged now, always on the hopeful side wink

It is just too bad!!!!!!! I hope justice reigns.

@palmwine
iIcalled a freind of mine in the navy to find out what really Happened.

HEAR THEM.

The body of the ladies car was hitted by one of the naval police to have her give way.
But instead she took a horse wip from her car to flog the hand of the Naval police.

This is what really enraged them.

Well you are free to say they over reacted!

but what is a lady and indeed most Nigerians doing carrying horse wip in their cars.

I am sure she must have wipped a number of men and gone free before this.

Well don't jump on me yet, I just gave you the other side of the story.

You can make up your minds.

I don't support the action of the Naval police though

Do you expect your friend to tell you the truth, afterall they are all bastards. I don't believe your friend's story and I think he/she can do likewise.

@ScanLess
I pity the family members of those naval men, they must be punching bags, the wives and the kids. or maybe they are divorced , but those men need mental rehab, they should be taken cehrubim and seraphim mental home where they use koboko to cure madness. and the officer should be demoted

Couldn't hold my self cheesy cheesy Not only demoted but dismissed to teach others some lesson.
Politics / Re: Happy 48th Birthday To My Country, Nigeria by oluwdashmi(f): 3:29pm On Oct 02, 2008
May I suggest that we all start to do something no matter how small. I appreciate the way people feel about the whole situation, but let's be honest no matter how much and how often we complain it cannot change the situation.

Things to consider

Training young children in your area for free
Donating your used clothing, books, shoes etc to local children
Donating raw food stuff to families you know are suffering
Investing money in local traders biz, e.g pepper seller, meat seller etc. I can hear people saying NO WAY, who can I trust. We have to start somewhere
Visiting hospitals and donating baby clothes, paying off a new mother's bill.
Digging a well in our village
Opening a library in our old school
Teaching people to draft a CV and how to conduct themselves at an interview for free.
paying for a child's education that you may not really know but their plight has come to your knowledge
Visit homes where we know that there are disbaled or sick people there just to help them clean, wash clothes etc. Even just visiting and cahtting to them may be all they need.
Donating beds, duvets, story books, body creams( u know that cream you bought that did not suit you and u want to throw away), to shelters for drug addicts. prostitutes, orphaned childern etc
Volunteering to go to the market for a vulnerable adult that lives next to you
Raising money in your office for people who need surgery but cannot afford it.

This christmas is a good one, buy a very nice and useful hamper for that woman that stands in front of your office selling boli or soemone else, it would make their christmas.

So many other things I cannot think of right now.

Imagine a scenario where  a driver hits someone because the brakes are bad, if we knew about it before hand and could afford to sort it out and did nothing we are as gulty as the driver. I am not saying encouraging people to be irresponsible, but people we know are genuinley trying but can't make ends meet.

How many of us volunteer our time to our churches, mosques etc.Think about it
I hope this makes sense

You have said it all!! Nigeria is not a man but a place and it is only those who dwell in it that can make the change.

wetin we dey celebrate?!

Did u just woke up from sleep?

I wonder o
Politics / Re: Niger Bridge May Collapse Before Christmas. by oluwdashmi(f): 1:22pm On Sep 26, 2008
@ QuotaSyste

Although the story is touching but you have to take it easy. You are talking like a frustrated soul. The governments you are referring to, will not read this thread and so have no impact in your lamentations.

This is why i still believe that only, and i repeat, only an Igbo president will take bold steps to bring infrastructure changes anywhere in Igboland. Left for these crooks that we are caged in the same country with, they will never do anything worth doing in anywhere Igboland territory because of the fear of the rise of Igbos. No good roads, no international airport, no sea port, and now, a bridge that will soon collapse and kill no other people than Igbo sons and daughters.

But you have governors who should provide basic amenities. If not all, but some. By blaming the federal government for everything, you will justify your govs for their misdeeds or unfair spending of state funds.

But when it's time to elect Igbo president, you will see same people asking silly questions like "can we trust Igbo president"   "Igbos must provide their best of bests as presidential candidate" as if their own group have ever provided the best of their people in the past as nigeria's president.

Maybe your leaders betray you in the secret and give other people a say.

I wish they repair the bridge anyway.
Politics / Re: SSS Invades Channels Tv by oluwdashmi(f): 10:04am On Sep 18, 2008
Why would Channels TV air such a rumour. Thats stupid journalism. So they have to bear the consequenses. Do you even realize who is involved and what is involved? , The President of Nigeria, and Change of Power.

Dictatorship ke? There is a difference between freedom of speech and careless journalism that could cause havoc in any nation.

Based on the rumour instability could arise as many Northerners are already talking about making sure that the North does not lose out should Yar'adua go as they have a slot that must be filled.

So, for Channels to air such serious issues based on unverified information then the TV station deserves to be sanctioned.

The other time we were told that Ibori's plane was found somewhere in West Africa and the papers made a lot of money selling trash to unsuspecting Nigerians.

Our media houses should wake up to responsible journalism, enough of the lies and misinformation that tend to cause problems in Nigeria while they smile to the banks.

@emmydee
You are talking out of sense!! This is not a military regime.

@Afam
What did the federal gov./sss do to the News Agency of Nigeria NAN, who gave channels the info? Do you know how many pple they must ve confirmed the story from b4 deciding to air it? In a democratic regime, judgement belongs to d court of law, not the president.

NLC and NUJ have sued the federal gov on that decision. This is why they have been delaying the FOI bill. The information maybe true, but they are only annoyed cos it has not been made public.

Foolish set of people(sorry if you're hurt by my statement)

u want to go to sweden ?best advice stay home and find something really good to do, there is money back home.u might ask the dumbest question like they ask saying "if that place is so bad why don't u come home then", but let me tell you the truth, the fact is how many of us here are really making it, 2 in million ? simply none.what do we live on ? loans, mortgage, car finance, and all sorts of available debts.i am a chemical Engr and i work in a very reputable company but i know what my colleagues back home have or live like working in companies not even as better as mine.if u know anyone that had stayed 20 years in the UK,US or wherever in the western world and has refuse to come home, its simply because he hasn't make it.

let me give u an example, a friend just bought an X5 in nigeria for 8 million cash, for someone to pay that for a single car means he still has lots of reserve.currently, that's about £33,333 pounds in the UK. where in the world am i going to get that cash from even working for the next 6 years i wont save that in the UK, Yes! how will i do that? no way, but my friend bought it and so many other examples, back to the dumbest question Nigerians ask , people can't come home because there's simply not enough to come back too, because same people will say "since u ve being there what did u achieve?"

i heard soemone say "the western world will give u exp." f**k exp. exp my ass, to do what with the experience? build the next space ship? or the next sky refinery? its experience what u start looking for after you have paid 19000 pounds to study every year for 3 years?

Best advice--- come here to study and get the f**k out
No Runs? believe me in the western world , one can never, lets leave the rest for the man Upstairs.

well said! a word is enough for the wise

@ builder
abeg if u noget better thin to say jst shut your mouth.?

any nigerian that is not smart, intelligent and hard workin enough to make it at home definately has zero chance of makin it in someones land.

Thanx 4 telling him.

If anyone intend to sponsor me abroad either for studies or undecided I will tell him to borrow me the money involved and I will pay back with interest after 2 years.

You ll be lucky, if you are still normal after 3 years, provided you re alive. Armed robbers regularly target returnees, and the Nigeria factor would make lose faith in humanity.

Does it mean all returnees into Nigeria are dead by now?? You need to see a psychologist.

This is the type of Nigerians you hated because they speak the truth so that you lot can change instead playing blind patrotism. Arrogant, ignorant and brainless to you maybe but no need playing a gallant patriot in far away Texas, London, Paris, Madrid or New York. You should head home straight away and enjoy the paradise, where the only triving business is politics coated in looting public fund.

Anybody crying for being refused a Nigerian citizenship is like the best player in the world crying for being refused to lace his boot for Equatorial Guinea of all footballing nations.

@ Eziachi- God will bless you for saying the truth. Really suprised that our new generation still got loads of psycophants. Its going to be a long time before things will change. I thought Nigeria has Citizenship by registration but it looks like it is one of those political promises from politicians.
Anyway- The Embassy can keep their passport at the moment- If am desparate for it I will get it through the Nigerian way but I don't wont to contribute to any corrupt practice in Nigeria - The statistics is already high.

When you knew that Nigeria can keep their passport, why did you run down here to make silly noise? Why is your wife dying to have one? As if UK is paradise!!!!!!!!!!!!
