stanelvis: Must we always blame GEJ for everythin that goes wrong. Why cant we ask ourselves wat the state govts that this bombing is going on in their domain doing about it.
The boko haram guys live and operate from their states and yet there is nothing they ve done about it even though they collect millions every month for security vote.
GEJ in as much as much as we want him to be is not a spirit or terminator that knows everything. He needs the support of everyone includin U to succeede
my dear i get your point. But it's hard not to call Jonathan. He is the president and everything that happens happens in his domain. He should be in charge and you don't get to be in charge by wishing that a problem will somehow sometime go away while families bury loved ones weekly.

President Jonathan Expresses Sadness Over Sunday Blasts

Abuja President Goodluck Jonathan has expressed sadness over the multiple explosions that rocked churches in Kaduna and Zaria on Sunday.

Jonathan expressed his sadness in Abuja at a special service to commemorate the 2012 Fathers Day.

When called upon to give his remarks, the visibly gloomy Jonathan said he received the news of the blasts in the course of the service and was really sad about the development.

“Particularly today, I was quite thrilled about what was going on in the church and when I got the information that while we were here, there were explosions in Kaduna and since I don’t even know the casualty rate and what is happening; I have been quite sad and I didn’t even want to say something.

“But when the priest orders you, you must say something.’’

The president said he had consolation in God who is capable of handling every situation and healing the nation.

He solicited the support and prayers of every Nigerian for the peace of the nation and for the success of his administration.

Earlier in a message entitled “Sovereign Fatherhood of God’’, the guest speaker, Prof. Jerry Gana, said failure of leadership of homes was responsible for the failure of the society.

He noted that to build a solid society, the people must build good families by raising responsible and God-fearing children.

Gana said one of the key roles of a father was to provide guaranteed security for his children.

He prayed that God would move to rescue the nation from its present state of insecurity characterised by suicide bombings and attacks on places of worship.

Gana called on the congregation to put its hope in God.

He read verses of Psalm 91 declaring God as the refuge of the nation and the leaders and the entire nation.

The first segment of the service witnessed Bible teaching led by the Chaplain of the Aso Villa Chapel, Rev Obioma Onwuzurumba.

The president opened the second segment and the main service with the Bible verses taken from the Book of Saint James Chapter 1, Verses 2 to 4.

This was followed by reading from the Book of Psalm 91 taken in sequence by the fathers and mothers in the congregation in the spirit of the day.

The First Lady, Dame Patience took the First Bible reading from the Book of Psalm 29, 1 – 11 while the second reading from Ephesians 3: 14 – 24 was taken by the Bayelsa Governor, Seriake Dickson.

Special songs were rendered by an all-male choir led by the president and prayers were offered for peace, security and prosperity of the nation and for divine guidance for the leaders.

In the congregation were former Bayelsa governor, Diepreye Alamieyesegha, Ministers of Police Affairs, Caleb Olubolade, Health, Prof. Onyebuchi Chukwu, and Information Labaran Maku.

The Executive Secretary of the National Christians Pilgrim Commission, Mr. Kennedy Okpara, some members of the diplomatic corps and presidential aides were also among the congregation. (NAN)

PoliticsRe: Why Can't A Revolution Work In Nigeria? by omicron(m):
werepeLeri: Because all of you only know how to bark on the internet, in the comfort of your rooms- hidden from the possible fall out of the so called "revolution". You all like to stay indoors and Tweet, Facebook and come to NairaLand to talk trash - nothing else. The issue of corruption is not only endemic amongst leaders, it is with every possible Nigerian. If you kill corrupt leaders, others will still grow up and become corrupt- so, what will you do? Kill every Nigerian?

The military came back in 1983 citing corruption in government as the reason - 29 years after - its gone worse, are you saying the same people 29 years ago are still in government? No. Every living Nigerian is corrupt, so, how many will you kill? Bro. Forget revolution in Nigeria.
Hey, stop that! Every living Nigerian is not corrupt. You must be very corrupt to have said that like that. Secondly, and FYI, the thieves in government sixty years ago are the ones still there today. I thought that was why Jerry Rowlings came to your mind in the first place. @ topic, revolution is quite possible in Nigeria but It will be very very difficult. Culture and religion and the prevalent I-don't-care and "i dey laugh o" attitude of many Nigerians will stand in the way.

Hmmm, let's see if Nigeria has changed. Otherwise he gets interrogated today and then ultimately, he gets prosecuted.....and that's the end! The obituary!!! And then someday somewhere somehow one Farcrook will assume one obscure political office like that. I can't remember any public servant who has gone to prisone in Nigeria since 1999. PoliticsRe: Is Nigeria A Poor Or Rich Country? by omicron(m): 11:32am On Jun 14, 2012
Nigeria is rich in MINERAL RESOURCES. Nigeria is RICH IN HUMAN RESOURCES. Nigeria is RICH IN OIL AND GAS. These things are supposed to make any country rich in terms of economic viability, stability and progress. Also, these potentials are supposed to make any country have one of the best standards of living which is the true reflection of a rich nation. But No! Not in my country!! Cos Nigeria is ALSO RICH IN CORRUPTION. In fact naija is one of one of the richest in that regard. We have a bizarre standard of living, abysmal infrastructure, absent middle class, shameful unemployment rates, ineffective institutions. We can boast of one of world's largest population of poor people etc... Nigeria is so so F**CKING POOR my dear!

Nairaland GeneralWhat Determines The Threads Making The Front Page? by omicron(op): 1:41pm On Jun 08, 2012
I used to think it's the amount of traffic a particular thread draws. At a point It appeared as though It was only the popular or more relevant topics that made the front page. Yet at other times I wondered if every new post appeared at the front. Or maybe it's random. So i want to know: WHAT DETERMINES WHICH POST MAKES THE FRONT PAGE, presently on NL.
Those that know should please educate me and others who may want to know too.
.
.
Similarly, I noticed of late how many people now express dissatisfaction at threads making the front page. Personally I don't have any problem with thread at the front page as long as the thread has produced a reasonable discussion or forum. But then everybody should be carried along. So tell me: WHAT SHOULD DETERMINE THREADS MAKING THE FRONT PAGE. What do you think?

Let’s face it, if the Red Devils had won the title it would have been a rather underwhelming victory once all the hoopla had died down. Man city have been the better side. Man u were simply inferior when compared to city this term. Any true man u fan will agree to that.
EducationRe: Name And Shame: Nigerian University Hostels by omicron(m):
UNEC....back then, used to b like 6 in a rum meant for 2 with almst equal number of squatters across most hostels. Facilities were appaling. The ladies' hostels were worse in hygiene (dnt ask me how i knew o, it was obvious!!) My guy visiting frm Abia state uni suddenly changed hs mind to go back despite that it was around 5pm, becos he cudnt stand d toilet in my hall. He had com.e to stay a week! An execption being Imoke Hostel which was a hostel for just final yr med students. That 1 was stil standard...two people in d same rum for two... at times one person per rum depending on the size of the final yr class. Facilities were fair. It was generally a great hostel wt great minds who reason alike, a nice way to transit frm being a studnt to being a doctor. Bt things hv improved since wt 3rd and 4th yr med studnts now in standard rums of two people, each in very cool hostels of their own. And other departments nw stay 4 in a rum for two with beta standards bt with a large rum stil left for improvement. One gud thing at UN, accmdatn fee was fair...9k and 11k for guys n gals respectively, per yr, and that was after it was increased not so long ago, frm d previous fee of 2k only.
