Someone I knew got married during the ramadan period but he was a tight-fisted git and he only married during that time because he did not have to supply food and drinks. After the ceremony, we all went home. Everyone threatened to come back after the fast but he said the marriage was in the morning and was over!!

I do not live in Nigeria (I live where food is aplenty) and observe intermittent fasting and believe in the health benefits. My blood pressure is now normal (after 10yrs) amongst other health benefits. If you can't fast for 24 hours, you can do the 16/8hr one i.e. you fast for 16 hours, eat for 8 e.g. Eat your last meal of the day around 8p.m then don't eat again until noon the next day; or Eat your last meal 9p.m, then eat again around 1p.m (basically, you skip breakfast - not hard). During your feeding hours, you can eat what you want (in moderation, of course) There are health benefits.

Do not pooh-pooh something until you've tried it!!

The longest fast I've done is 3 days dry fast (for religious reasons), without food nor water. It was tough but I survived
