Dis Guy:To be honest, all my plans were thrown out of the water!!! Lagos became more of a family affair in that most of what we did was visit family members who hadn't seen me in years and never seen my kids!!! I'd tell the children that we were going to visit aunty so-and-so and that we'd only spend 15mins; we'd end up spending 4 hours there Another aunty had relocated to Abeokuta. It took all day to get there and back We did manage to take them to the barbeach though but we all came away with black tar all over our feet ![]() At Ghana we took them to visit their dad's family but it was just at one place for all of them so we got that out of the way quickly then we went to the Zoo, museums - palace and army, Labadi Beach (much cleaner & more entertainment, sorry ) and many more entertaining places. So, the kids said they enjoyed Ghana more than Nigeria |
Is there a thread about this somewhere? If not, can we start one please ![]() I stayed at the Rita Lori Hotel in Surulere. The reception area, lobby area, bar area, dining area I give 5 stars. The kids were like, "Wow!!" Wait until you get into the rooms ![]() They tell you at reception when you are booking in that you get free breakfast then when you go downstairs in the morning, they tell you it is one free breakfast per room and it's only tea and toast ![]() As if that weren't enough (and not the hotel's fault, I hastily add), there's an aladura church opposite and they had night vigils everynight - the shouting, drumming, praying - say no more, say no more. Would I stay there again? NO |
^^^^ They will tell you, you have something to hide hence you "paid" not to be searched.
I'm pretty sure the checks at Heathrow was sufficient ![]() |
Have You Ever Felt Embarrassed As A Nigerian?Nah!! I laugh along with them ![]() |
justwise:I'm on the fence here justwise When we recently went to Ghana, we had 11 suitcases between the 7 of us. All the checks had been done at Heathrow etc but when we landed at Kotoka Airport, the immigration officer demanded everyone open their bags for checks before we could leave the airport. I mean, whatever for? We'd just landed So hubby bunged the guy some cash and he marked our bags so we were able to get through. We had nothing to hide but the sheer inconvenience of opening up 11 suitcases compiled with a screaming hungry baby and tired kids (6 hours flight and we landed in the morning), it was just the easiest thing to do. Sorry |
Is it an anonymous scanner I was at Lagos a couple of weeks ago and saw no scanners ![]() |
agabaI23: Lived where all my life ![]() Ranoscky:But why on bladdie earth would a Non Nigerian claim to be a Nigerian? Anyway, they could have conducted the interview in the yoruba language. I can speak yoruba and some kadan-kadan hausa ![]() |
Then maybe you should apply for a tourist one. During your 'visit', buy the stuff you want to take back with you and pay excess at the airport if the weight exceeds your allowance ![]() Good luck (what type of goods are you planning to buy/sell - just being nosy) |
Ranoscky:What on earth for? ![]() And I most definitely don't claim to be british (even though I am ). I say I'm Nigerian when asked, but when the Nigerian High Commission don't accept me as a "proper" Nigerian, what's a girl supposed to do, huh? ![]() |
Ranoscky:My British one (which I got as a child) which I then renewed at the British Embassy in Kaduna ![]() |
agabaI23:I DO have a passport, just not a Nigerian one (which is why we went to apply for visas ) |
Ranoscky:Yeah, London but I have spent some time in Nigeria ![]() |
Ranoscky:So why didn't the Nigerian High Commission, London allow me to invite my husband to Nigeria? I went there to get visas for us as we are visiting soon and the lady there would not accept an invitation from me because I do not have a Nigeria passport. I told her my parents are Nigerians but she wouldn't budge. Perhaps you need to re-educate them ![]() |
raintree:A wife and mother of 5 kids I doubt it somehow unless dem use juju for me I won't even carry someone's bag for them at the airport ![]() |
hugooh42:A 22 year old should know better ![]() |
So how come a friend of ours had to take the Nigerian High Commission to court? ![]() He was born in London here of Nigerian parents. He went to live in Nigeria when he was very young and completed his schooling there before coming back to the UK. He went to the Nigeria High Commission to apply for Nigerian passport and was refused. The guy was refused He can speak Yoruba very well and has a Nigerian name, no doubt. So, he took them to court and won ![]() |

How many people do hotels in Nigeria generally sleep? Over here, it is 2 adults, 2 children (unless you request a single bed/room ). |
The 10 year ban is bladdie harsh though. Innit? |
drrobert:I've been to the above 2 places. Thoroughly enjoyed it ![]() drrobert:I'll try these on my next visit to Ghana ![]() |
She's an adult |
londoner22:https://bestsmileys.com/signs15/3.gif £1,500 is just about right ![]() |
As a visitor to the UK, how was it possible to access the National Health service? My uncle, a British Citizen, went to Nigeria on holiday and started courting a lady who eventually fell pregnant. He brought her over when she was about 7 months gone. Despite my uncle being a citizen, she was refused NHS treatment for the rest of her pregnancy and Uncle had to pay privately. He wasn't too pleased ![]() |
