This was  what  i experienced while i was coming back to Nigeria from india via Doha. i had 2 hrs delay in India, so on getting to qatar for transit, it was announced that the plane has left. so we met the ground crew of qatar, they said nigerians this way, other the other  way. they collected our passport.Then,  told others to go and join the bus to hotel and said to nigerian, that we are not allowed into their country.my head wan explode that day.

We are visiting Lagos, Nigeria soon and I'm trying to sort out travel insurance. Hubby is pooh-poohing my effort as he reckons it's a waste of money. I think it's an essential tool when going abroad. He didn't even want to get the jabs but I 'bullied' him into doing them.

Granted, we have travelled before WITHOUT travel insurance but we are travelling with the children this time.

What do y'all reckon? To insure or not to insure?

Gone are the days when visa applicants are required to buy flight tickets to support application.

So that's why the Nigerian High Commission did not ask me for the tickets. My husband said I should take our e-tickets along but I told him it wasn't one of the requirements. At least it shows they have a heart

Most airlines wouldn't carry a pregnant woman that far advanced anyway. It differs from airline to airline so even if the visa weren't cancelled, they (or she) may still not have been able to fly.

I was very excited to read this but upon googling, I can't see this hotel anywhere.

My mum lives around Aguda, Surulere area (we can't stay with her as her flat is already full with the other grandkids).

Are there any decent hotels around those parts, with AC, generator and maybe a swimming pool and gym? [The swimming pool and gym aren't essential].

Any idea of cost per night? We'd need at least 2 rooms.

It doesn't have to be around that area but I don't want to travel too far to visit mum and family. Thanks.

You should get holiday jabs. It's recommended about 6 weeks before you travel. We are travelling to Lagos next month and we've all got the jabs - some are free, some you have to pay for - we paid for the Yellow Fever jab - the Hep, thyphoid and tetanus jabs were free. If you don't get the jabs, it could invalidate your travel insurance if you fall ill

Can't help you re: the hotels but good luck. Have you booked your flights yet? Do it sooner rather than later, as with the schools closing soon for the summer, the flights will soar (forgive the pun).

Also, don't forget to visit the Nigeria High Commission for your visas and good luck there also

I was introduced to my hubby but he was living in Ghana, I in London, UK. I flew out to meet him in Accra, we got married, I invited him over and here we are today with 5 kids. Everyone said it wouldn't last

The registrar also makes secret phone calls to the police if they suspect a couple. You'll be there smiling at the camera when the cops will cuff you

Reminds me of 2 Afghans who entered Britain illegally. They were given money for a taxi and the address of the detention centre and told to go there because they were short-staffed and no one to take them there.

They are still looking for the Afghan men as surprise, surprise, they didn't turn up at the detention centre

And this happened at Heathrow airport here in Great Britain lol

It's not an impossible task but it will take some time to facilitate. You'll have to tell your hubby to be patient. If you start the process now, he should be here (here as in the UK) in say a year's time, Ceteri paribus.

You have to start by getting your British passport then moving here. Do you have family/friends in the UK you can stay with for a while?

Then you'll have to get a job (they will require a "To whom it may concern" letter from your employer, your own place so you can get your own bills (if you are living with people, your name won't be on the bills), you'll have to open a bank account (very essential), register with a GP, keep copies of all your correspondence to your hubby e.g. phone bills etc etc then you will send him a letter of invitation and take it from there.

Or maybe you should just invite him to Canada then you can both move over here. Weigh the pros and cons and see which one will be less of a hassle. Good luck girl.
