Well done! Omodadi - you answered well. Will they collect my international passport at the VFS office as well or is it when my application is approved that I bring the international passport?

If it's paper, they collect your passport. But if online, you hold your passport till visa is approved.

I think something might be wrong from your previous applications or your previous visits to the U.S Maybe the first baby you had in the U.S Because the VO to me seemed soo direct. Like he had seen something wrong even before you said good morning with a smile.

Which could be?

Please someone should help in my question,

Is it compulsory that I must have an Insurance paid and handy before writing the hospital of my choice?

If yes.

Which is the cheapest Insurance?

Please someone should reply asap

Thanks

Insurance? Don't know where you got that information though and it shows you've not read anything on here, just hopped in to ask question. Well, maybe your question isn't meant for here too. Nothing like buying insurance before or after contacting doctor

Hello Hotstepper, do I need to download the forms, fill them and submit to the VFS office in Lekki?

Do I fill the form directly real time online and submit - if going through this route, how do I pay for the visa fees and biometric? Do I still need to go to the CVAC/VFS office in lekki for the visa and biometric payment?

If you had clicked in the link, most questions you asked here would have bin answered since she said all you need is there. However, yes for paper route, download, complete, submit at VFS and do biometrics. If you submit online, you can also pay online with your card, then go to same office for biometrics with a letter that will be sent to you after application confirmation. Hope this helps

Na wa o! What to do? sad

Your expiring visa was medical...abi?....you didn't overstay...and you paid all bills.....i wonder what the issue is.

I may be clutching at straws here but....... was looking at your transcript from 2016 and when VO asked how much it would cost you said $15k....maybe this was your total budget for medical plus accommodation plus travel etc....... but perhaps VO noted that as medical cost only.....and maybe all the VOs are comparing the $7.5k paid to this $15k that was noted. I don't know if that makes any sense....just trying to understand what could be wrong.

Will you try again? Or try Canada....the online application.....not paper through VFS...you only submit your passport when visa is approved.....mine was out in 3 weeks but it was just a tourist visa.....not medical.

Pele.

So if I go back and same question asked, I'll say 15k?
Remember the first VO didn't even ask but just collected my receipts and stocked to the hospital only.
More so, I don't have medical receipt to cover 15k.

Just confused o.

And I was denied again this morningat Lagos:
VO: good morning
I responded with a smile
VO: Why are you going to the US
I am going to have my baby
VO: Do you have a child born in the US
Yes
How much was your medical bill
7,500
How much would this one cost you
14,500
VO:How much do you earn
Told her
VO: Where do you work
Told her
VO: Sorry you are not qualified for the visa.
Travel / Re: Give Birth In USA: Cost And Procedures Part 6 by Omodadi2: 4:02pm On Feb 01, 2018
@Kayjay23, please where did you have your interview?
Sorry for your refusal.

Not all hospitals give the itemized list as we have read here, and also someone went without it and was granted visa.

Its inside same itemized bill that some VO picked up the issue of self PA fee and insurance fee for the hospital without looking at other receipts presented.

Just call your hospital and request for it.

Hi @omodadi2 please I went through your transcript and I was really worried about the refusal.
So I went back to your old transcript when you got the visa. You said to the vo that your budget was 15k after he asked you if u were in contact with a doctor which you said yes . And his next question was how much will this cost you and you said 15k USD. So my question is this , did you show him the budget sheet showing everything was 15k ? Did the vo understand that the trip would cost 15k or did he assume that the hosp bill would cost 15k. Cos that might be what the woman saw and was wondering why she saw 2500 on Ur receiot. I don't know if I make any sense just thinking aloud.

You really made sense o. Maybe the VO then just put it down that my medical bill will be 15k while I meant the total cost of my trip.

Thanks for the heads up.
Means I will sure have to correct that in my next interview. But come to think of it, every budget we do are just estimates, we don't end up spending exactly. More so, 2300 wasn't the total I spent even for medical bill. I really appreciate!

Hello @Omodadi2. Please how did you go about visa for your nanny? What documents did u give her?

My other problem is my nanny is a young 23 year old girl with secondary school certificate, but unfortunately she is always scared yo speak with people she doesn't know cos her english is very poor. Please any advise on how to deal with this cos she will be going to the embassy alone as I have my visa: renewed via dropbox.

Your response would be highly appreciated.
Thanks

My nanny is 19years plus o but she's got good command of the English language.

I gave her all documents except my visa cos I don't have one yet, couldn't make my interview on Thursday as we were supposed to go together.

I just asked her to try bcoz that's the second fee I paid for her, missed the first too. She just secured admission at the University though so she went with her admission letter too. I just saw that she's qualified with the criteria I saw on the US visa site including the fact that she has worked with me for more than 1year.

As God would have it, she was asked to send her passport with my visa page once I have my visa. So she wasn't given outrightly.

Your willing be fine as spoken English isn't a criteria for the visa. Once she can answer the few important questions of :

Where are you going
What are you going to do
How long are you staying
How did you know your emoloyer
How long have you worked with her

Answered as it is on the DS 160 form, she'll be fine.
Wish her the best!

Giving birth in Usa
stefii...
Thanks so much @omoadadi2 and ugougochy
I briefly explained my health challenges due to my pregnancy and in my doctor's letter, they are clearly stated there too.I attached the 2 letters from doctors para ti ie the costing and appointment letter (TO WHOM IT MAY CONCERN) , my Nigeria Gynae letter and my introduction letter from my office. The column for uploading is not more than 4 spaces. you cant upload more than 4 documents there. So i wasn't able to upload the payment sheet and my enrollment fee receipt i paid to Doctors para ti at El paso

I don't know if i can still re-apply for expedited date.
Please experienced mamas n papas should help me out.
Thanks

You don't need your office introduction letter, from your case, you only need
1. Appointment letter from Doctors para ti
2. Your Nigeria doctors letter
3. Proof of funding (bank statement and/or payslip)
4. Budget sheet
If you are adding both bank statement and payslip, that makes it 5 documents in all. And there is space for 5 documents there.

Yes, you can re-apply if not approved. I did for my nanny twice, second was approved.

In the space for justification, try and explain yourself very well. Your main reason(s) for requesting for expedited appointment should be detailed including the immigration rules for pregnant mothers and planning time for travel.

Best of luck!

Good evening mamas and papas.please i have a pressing issue. I applied for BI/B2 medical visa and i applied with my 2 years old son and hubby. On the process of booking for interview, my son's details on the cgifederal.secure site didn't enter ,it kept on returning "Unable to add applicant because some or all information you entered belongs to another applicant" but i was able to add my husband successfully. i went ahead to book for the interview of which i got 21st of March,2018.And my first appointment in El paso Tx is 1st March,2018. Eventually i was able to call the call center and my son's details were added but then i cancelled our first interview date appointment ,thinking i will see a closer date but then i saw 4th of April,2018 so i picked it. Now my dilemma is
1. My interview date which is 4th of April is close to my EDD which is 5th May,2018 and by then i will be very close to delivery, my fear is if we will be able to secure our visas by then and again fit to fly.
I wrote for an expedited date with my letters from my doctor in USA showing my appointment with them,Letter from my doc in Nig.But i was denied. I called call center again to know if i could get another closer date but they said i have cancelled my first appointment and if i should cancel again,i will have to forfeit the visa fees.
Please house i need an advice on what to do please.
THANKS

I don't know what else to do. please i need an advice. Thanks

Hello,
When you apply for expedited appointment, you need to first explain why you are just applying as you were supposed to have applied earlier in order to be able to get a good date.

Then to the reason why you are now saying your date isn't good enough for you:

1. For immigration laws...... expantiate
2. For preparation purposely.... expantiate

You can have more reasons anyways but these are common.

Documents to attach:
The 2 doctors letters/correspondences
Budget sheet
Back Account Statement
Payslip if applicable.
If you have all these, re-apply and just explain yourself well in the letter. Best of luck.

Good afternoon, I read here that one gets his/her passport back from the embassy after request in 2days. Please who has experienced this?

I mean when your application is pending and you make request for your passport. They are telling me it's minimum of 4days.

Hi all,
My uncle, (grandma's youngest brother) is an MD of a hospital in California. He specializes in family practice.
I have not met nor communicated with him before but I intend to call him as I got his contact on internet. He has practiced there for over 40years. Left Naija before the war.

My question is, do you think his hospital births babies? I don't want to make a fool of myself. I want to call him and ask for a discount (not free). I have a place to stay in California, but heard the hospitals in California are expensive hence my interest in calling him for discount.

You can read about your uncles hospital and also call him. However, don't rely on him only, do your research and have options at hand that you can compare.

For example, add accommodation to medical bills at Texas, compare with what you are getting wherever, then decide.

Hello Everyone,

Please I need a bit of help,

I applied for a Canadian TRV online on the 06th of Jan and provided enough supporting docs to the best of my ability,

I made a hotel and flight booking and scanned along with bank statement and work documents,

However I got a refusal on the 16th under subsection 11 (1) on grounds that I would not leave canada after my visit, travel history, purpose of visit, personal assets and financial status. The letter states I am welcome to reapply if i can respond to the concerns.

I am unsure how they came about this decision but i respect it, Justwise and co please advise as i plan to reapply with same set of documents maybe paper route this time, I hold valid UK US and Schengen visa and have been to a few countries and never abused any visa.

Please note I am single but just love to travel i love Nigeria and have no plans to relocate and I have a good job i love with a fair closing account balance, Your responses will be appreciated,

Thank you.

Sorry for your refusal, however that decision is really a fast one.

You have not stated the documents you sibmitted so may not be able to talk much. But with grounds you mentioned, you may need to convince the VO more when re-applying.

Good evening all, happy new year to u all. My sister went for her appointment yesterday in lagos. She wasn’t granted a visa. Abeg Sabi mamas and papas help me read thru the transcript and pannel beat it and let’s know where she went wrong. This is her second attempt. For her first attempt in nov, she said she was going for visitation. She is presently 6months gone and The transcript is as follows;
Vo:pass ur passport
Vo: where are u traveling to
Sis:Richmond Virginia
Vo: why do y want to travel to USA
Sis: childbirth purpose
Vo: Have u booked an appointment with ur doctor
Sis:Yes,Would you like to see our correspondence
Vo: Yes,Where does ur husband work
Sis: He’s an inspector at .....
Vo: Where do u work
Sis:I’m a customer service manager at ....
Vo: Why USA not Dubai or europe
Sis: I haven’t had any close relative that has given birth in those countries but my Sis gave birth in USA and she told me she had a wonderful birthing experience that’s y I chose USA
Vo:How much did u budget
Sis: $16,450
Vo: Pass me the budget list, Have u travelled before
Sis: No
Vo: Will ur husband accompany u
Sis: No
Vo:Please pass me the statement of account
He looks at the statement and nods his head
Brings out blue paper and says ........

Sorry for your sisters' denial.

In all, if you've bin following interview trascrips recently, you'll notice that the reason for choosing US is now a question used to deny people when not answered correctly, I mean adding the dual citizenship purpose which is why most of us all are going there coupled with the First Class healthcare.

The account statement might also have issues, but I think her reason for choosing US that she stated isn't genuine enough.

@ Hamddy...I think hotstepper means its not true....

My opinion, its always been a subject of discussion in the US and Canada to stop the outright citizenship at birth thingy but no strong directions have ever been made. If they want to end it, I don't think it will happen instantly. I believe there will be strong deliberations at the senate/house of parliament before they take a decision...

This thread is getting too cold o, people please lets share our experiences.....

I was at the verge of making payment today for my US birthing when i received a mail from VFS that my Canadian application is ready...i quickly ran to lekki to pick up, and glory to God i was given the visa. I had given up already cos I applied late and they held my application for 2months....so its change of plans for me cos Canada is my first choice

So now, im super-excited and super-confused cos i dont even know where to start.....@hotstepper, the specialist, anyone in the house...please i need your help o....from what I've read so far i'm open to doing Toronto or Oshawa. The only problem is that I plan to travel by this month end and I will be 36weeks. No accomodation plans, nothing....

Anyone that can help with any info, kindly reachout.....thanks so much

Hello everyone.

Please has anyone tried to schedule a 221g follow up appointment very recently? I have tried in the last three days without any success.

The appointment calender just comes out blank without any dates or time. I have emailed the US embassy in Abuja, the support centre and also contacted the call centre. Still no progress.

Please are there any other suggestions on what I can possibly do? Many thanks.

I had same issue, just continue calling and sending mails. Also use the provide feedback option on the homepage of your profile, they respond faster there.
