Romance › Re: Not All Women Want Your Money… by omoharry(f): 2:32pm On Nov 26, 2019
I cant remember the last time I ate a man's money or begged him for one .All my phones and other expenses over the years, I bought them myself. I learnt this from my mother that there is dignity in spending the money of your sweat. So guys chill, not every woman eat from you.
Relationships have come and gone and cant remember asking them for money except they give me in form of gift without me asking for it

I feel embarrass asking guys for money, If ladies can be content with what they have and spend only what they can afford, I dont think our male folks will be this bitter or calling us gold diggers.

Well ,as for the students, .guys what else do you expect from your girl friends that are students? even uncles and aunties give them money to support them too..so stop complaining when you are dating a student.

FrLukas:
this is very true. i know a number of people who fell victim to this kind of trap back in the day.

Christmas and New year celebrations are near and people want to make the money they didn't make from January to November.
I was once a victim to that trick..I was asked about a location by a man that pretended to come from Cameroon. He said he is a merchant and was left stranded by his Nigerian friend, so he wanted a warehouse he can take his product to..Immediately I answered, That was it. I was immediately hypnotized. Suddenly, another guy pretending to be passing bye heard our conversation and joined us, unknowingly to me they are working together.
.I later found myself in a remote village outskirt of the city and was asked to go to parent house to collect money and gold as they are out of town for a relative's burial. I still did not see anything wrong with their request, so on our way back to my resident, I was saved my former neighbor who wanted to know what i am doing in such a remote area. That was when they both disappeared ..the rest is history
Thank God they were not ritualist but thieves. So it is true..you would not recollect anything until you are back home(if you are lucky to) that was when everything started replaying out to me..I felt very stupid and drained.Thank God I am still alive.

Yoruba man... South West is it Ogbomosho, Akure or ibadan that is biggest slum or is it Ado or Ilesan or okitipupa

Abeg which South West again apart from former capital which is Lagos and have been divided by Igbo and hausa with Ijaw tribes

Tell me one South West city that is better than Onitsha which is not a capital or more industrialised than Nnewi which is not a capital

Why is the average Yoruba daft and stupid ?
I dont think the OP intent is to steer up any anger or tribal bashing here ...It is just an innocent question that i found fascinating too. I too from the Niger Delta sometimes do wonder why so many Igbos travel to the east during the festive period especially in Decembers; even if it takes them to start their journey on the eve of Christmas and arrived there on Christmas day..It is just a question that requires a simple answer to educate others. Though this practice is not only peculiar to the Igbos but the Igbos travel more than other tribes to thier villages during the festive period and it is a big deal for them...Anyway sorry you took it the wrong way.

What is your opinion on this topic.

In a situation where a woman receives some inheritance from her father or a share of her late father's property, is she expected to hand over her inheritance (money) to her husband?

Married folks over to you. Women, how will you handle your inheritance? Men, how do you expect your wives to handle her inheritance?
I will tell him about it and any proceeds that comes out of it will be use for the family but it will be named after our children.

Yes we might be tribalistic and quarrel on the internet but that does not reflect in the real world.what matters to the world is what happens in the real world and not in the virtual word where I do not know whom I am talking to.I prefer that to your peaceful internet relationship and on the other hand engaging in violence ,rape and xenophobic attack against other people. Yes Nigerians have been tag drugs peddlers(Both the guilty and the innocent are caught up in the cross fire) that is why you killed ,maimed and looted their shop..Right? so what about the Mozambicans, the Zimbabweans, the Somalians, and other African people that were also attacked in the xenophobic attack or even attacked at certain time ..Are you saying they deal with drugs and prostitution too? so all the foreigners are the criminal and you lot saint.

Clown it is Nigeria women you are defending? Nigeria women that are prostitutes all over the world. Prostitutes in Italy,Spain, Germany, France, all over Europe, all over Asian, all over Americans.

Women that are prostitutes in shilhole countries like Ghana, Cameroon, Togo, ivory coast , Senegal, Mali, Burkina Faso and co? and I'm sure they are also prostitutes in south African as well. The reasons they are not getting married to black south men is because, black south Africa men do not find them attractive. If not, you could have see your so-called Nigeria women getting married to black south Africa men en-masses duh.
Nigerian women( all of them? including the ones you know?) though we might have some Nigeria women doing degrading things for money but it does not mean we are all prostitutes. We have hard working women in Nigeria and some abroad working their ass out for a better life.
Please next time, learn how put some and not paint all of us with one brush for if that were the case, then it will mean that you will be painted with the same brush the drug dealers, scammers/Fraudsters, ritualist are painted with.etc.

Nigerian women are really not into SA black men becos majority of them are Lazy, irresponsible and a nuisance to their society..the little good ones left are rushed off by their SA women. So why should we go there when we have so many responsible and hard working Educated men in Nigeria that are striving to keep their head up above water against all odd.

Madam you are a good wife and many men do take advantage of women like you especially when they have them as wives..
I am sure if he married a selfish, nagging and an inconsiderate wife , he would have hit the street looking for job at all cost.
So many men like this are dreamers and they like building castles in the air. They will count millions that they have dreamt about over and over again and continue to put all their hope in that virtual project that is not feasible.
I had an elder brother like that..he is a dreamer . I was in secondary school (back in mid to late the 90s) when he started talking about how he is about hitting it big with millions from one project after another...he has always be interested in politics but the funny thing is that all those he used to call his boys back then, are far gone in politics but he is no where to be found..He refuse to work for anyone for he felt it was a waste of time..so he continued his life like that till he got married and still continued dreaming.
They always dream and get involve in politics and hope that one day they will make their millions through politic or other gigantic project that one cannot even see; They do these without caring on how to provide for their homes and families. He is in his mid fifty now and he is still dreaming with nothing to show for it ( his wife have left him ,she is fending for their children without any assistance from him because he does not have money to support them).

Tell your husband to look for any job that can bring money on a weekly or monthly basis ...if he can drive, then what stop him from doing UBER while he continues to pursue his dream?( you can look for UBER providers here on Nairaland that are looking for good drivers to drive their cars .
If he has pride he should swallow it for the well being of his family.

I hope he is not a lazy man. A real man does not feel comfortable when his wife becomes a bread winner for a long time without him feeling odd and out of place..most especially when they are physically and mentally fit to work.
You can some times massage his ego so as not to make him feel less than a man but at the same time you self need to put small pressure or fire under his ass to get a job and be a provider while you both still hope for the big thing to come.

What the hell are you talking about..? do you know women are silently sole providers in their various house holds without even a fly knowing about it? this they do quietly in other to support their husband. They do not say it out in other not to embarrass thier men, since society expect a man to be the provider of the family , while the women support the home.

Here you are talking as if you are still in the 80s and 90s. Things have really changed oo! I think these women should be celebrated for adding more work to their natural load that nature and society already expect them to do.

Let couples discuss and decide what works for them.,If the husband has an archaic mind set such as "women must not have properties in her name becos she is a wife whose dowry has been paid so what ever she get must be in the family name" then the woman must do the needful to protect herself and children from any unforeseen circumstances.

That one is no more a wife but a competitor. This whole thing stems from lack of trust in a family. Does it mean because my wife's name is not in my car particulars she can not go to court to claim it in my absence? Are we saying this applies to the chairs, TVs Fridge or is it only for landed property?

This kind of advice create artificial problems in homes in the name of civilisation. If the wife should own a property in order to will it to the children, what different does it make if the husband wills same property to same children?
It now depend on the environment where this stuff happens. Like in the East and some SS states, if anything happens to the man, (God forbid) his family will come and fight the woman over properties especially when there is no will to protect the woman and her children. Women are not seen as fit to own properties in those regions and some other society in Nigeria. What about if the woman has only girls with no male child and she wishes for her daughters to inherit her properties without some stupid tradition getting in the way. There are many injustice against woman especially when the husband is deceased, so it is good for the woman to have some form of security in her name against any unforeseen events.Women (especially when they are educated)have more liberties in the cities to fight for their late husbands properties than other less civilized society where these injustice is still being practiced.

Sanchez01:
My point is, your mindset reveals you have a space already reserved for 'wàhálà', particularly when your other half buys something solely in his name. Before it gets to that point, spend more time looking/talking for/about these stuff prior to marriage.

If you sit a male down and he tells you that he sees no reason why he should buy properties in both your names, then by all means bail or walk away to avoid future problems.

The idea of doing things seperately, particularly property related voids marriage design. I know some would claim 'anything can happen tomorrow'. The idea of 'anything can happen' in itself gives an idea that they are going into a lifetime commitment with a higher probability of bailing tomorrow.

I sincerely wonder what people discuss in courtship these days.
Even the bible says we should guard our heart with all diligent for out of it flow the issues of life"..She is referring to while she is married and not before it..Of cos one would bail out from any relationship where either of the party is self centered .

Now in a situation while you are blissfully married and the man or woman pulls that kind of stunt, what would you have her do? purchase a property and include the mans name too? Some people are wired differently when it comes to their properties. They can be lovey-dovey all the way but not when their properties are involve.

In this situation it is better they both have their properties and include their spouses and children as their next of kin. It does not change anything, nor does it mean they do not love each other. My grand aunt and her husband had this same arrangement with their properties and their marriage lasted for 50 years. They are late now and their children inherited both properties. Couples should discuss this among themselves and practice what ever work for them, as long as there is openness in whatever they do, I dont think there will be any issue..we too dey attach sentiment to things for Naija sha.
