Family › Re: Appearances Are Deceptive: Meeting Old Classmate By Ademola Henry Adigun by omoharry(f): 4:53pm On Oct 30, 2019
We had not seen each other for about 30 years. The Lord has been kind to me. When I saw him again - this time at a hotel lobby - he was looking simple. He wore simple Ankara attire. I felt touched. He walked up to me and was glad to see me again. But deep within me I was not impressed with his status compared to mine and poor me, I couldn't hide it. We exchanged contact details and I could see the joy in him as he collected mine.

I told him I will drop him home in my brand new Range Rover and I pointed it to him. He declined and said he had already called for his car. It looked old, a 2001 Honda Accord.

I invited him the next day for lunch at my house. A part of me wanted to impress him - To show off my success and affluence to him, while another was to discuss opportunities and possibly help him.

He drove to Parkview where I lived. He looked impressed with my home. I had taken a heavy mortgage. In fact I was heavily in debt. We had lunch. He told me he was into small business and particularly real estate. I brought up more business discussions, but he didn't sound too interested. I asked him how I could help him. He said he was fine. I even told him if he was interested, I could help him secure some loans... He looked at me and smiled.

He told me he would invite me over soon to his place. His old car came for him. I was grateful to God for what I had. “Fingers are not all equal”, I thought to myself...I was lucky. I worked in a good place.

Two weeks later, we went to see him in Ikeja. My wife and I. She was reluctant to go because she was not impressed with the man's status as to warrant our visiting him in his house. I was able to convince her that we were close friends in college. We saw the Estate. *Wuraola Estate.* We asked for directions to his home. Those leading us spoke his name with deference.

It was a simple but lovely home. A 4 bedroom bungalow. I saw 4 cars parked in front. We entered his home. It was simply elegant with a touch of class inside. He welcomed us warmly.

Lunch was well served. His wife called him Baba Wuraola

During lunch, he asked about my MD. He said they were friends. I saw a company gift on one of his tables nearby. That company owned about 38% shares where I worked. I enquired from him about it. He smiled. He told me he owned the company. He also owned the estate.

I did not know when I called him sir... I was in awe of him too.

I had learnt a lesson in humility - A big one. Appearances are deceptive. He noticed my discomfort.

Driving back home, I was very quiet. My wife was humbled and extremely calm. I could perceive the thoughts in her mind. I looked at myself. Living on loans, heavy loans and showing off while someone who pays my salary is quite modest and living a simple life!
Indeed Deeper Rivers Flow In Majestic Silence!
You write well.Is this just a short story or a true life event? nice write-up.

First and foremost, you a confirm Harlot for having sex with someone that is not your husband. The solution to your problem will only start if you genuinely repent from your Fornication, ask God to have mercy on you and cleanse you. And promise Him that you will not go back into it until you are rightfully married and desist from going into Boy friendship!!!
Then you can pray to Him for healing and you will be healed!!!
You cant remain in your sin and be looking for solution!!!
Look at this fanatic. So Mr righteous man, you want to swear before man and God that you are without any sin between yesterday and today? try and be patriotic for once, America is a great country because the average American will always choose the American product over imported even when the foreign one is better. Must you eat rice?
why dont you start by keeping your street and environment clean by not throwing rubbish through your car windows and in drainage .Then also ensure you obey all traffic regulation, stop driving against traffic light and using one way against traiifc so that your country will be livable for all Nigerians as well as visitors.Nigeria it is a shithole because we treat it like trash since nobody cares ..No be only rice matter you remember patriotism. Start buying only made in Nigerian clothes and shoes, buy your car from Innoson cars instead of a foreign cars like Mercedes, Honda,Kia, and Toyota and ensure all the things you use on a daily basis are produced in Nigeria..then we will understand what you mean by patriotism..no be only rice matter you go remember to be a patriot. Patriotism my foot.

As for the rice issue what l see, is the government taking drastic action without proper planing,We masses are the one suffering it becos we now have buy our local rice at a very expensive prices(twice the price of the foreign rice that is clean and sweeter) ,I wonder why?. I thought this is the time for local seller to provide ans sell their rice at the normal price so that Nigeria will forget about the Foreign rice but their greed will not allow them. They made the local rice scares so that they can shoot up the price of rice beyond the reach of the common man in this already harsh terrain and you are here praising this government for their poor planing tactic.

True. Our local rice is terrible and expensive as if it was smuggled.I think government should open the border, pending when our local farmers are ready to do business properly. How can our local rice that is not even clean and sweet like the rice from Thailand and India is now twice as expensive and not even available for Nigerians to buy.

Family › Re: Surrogacy: Meet Nigerian Women Who Carry Pregnancy For Other Women In The Womb by omoharry(f): 5:04pm On Oct 14, 2019
Nigeria should be careful of this new trend. It’s been in existence for many years but has only become very trendy lately.
There’s still many ethical issues surrounding surrogacy no matter how good it’s painted.

Like the motherless babies homes with its many unethical problems, surrogacy isn’t the perfect solution to infertility that people see it as. There are still lots of malpractices going on from exploitation of the women to even serious legal and health issues later.

There are women who go into these for commercial reasons and there the clinics where these are undertaken must be seriously regulated.

It’s true that the baby takes the DNA of the sperm and egg donors but it is still at the mercy of the surrogate. Surrogates life style and nutrition can impact on the baby. A drinking mum, some women on prescription medications who go into surrogacy to get paid and feeding habit can affect the baby.

A surrogate can die, develop complications during the process, she can miscarry and can also deliver a deformed or disabled baby.

Certain genetic disorders can be detected during the period of surrogacy and the donors might want to have the child aborted...the surrogate might not want that.
A surrogate might develop psychological issues after carrying the baby to term and might not want to dissociate from the child even though her dna wasn’t part of the child...

Who breastfeeds? Donor might not want breastfeeding, this might become the new trend where a whole new generation of babies are denied breast milk!

I had the experience of nearly falling into this trap some years ago. I was approached by a doctor to help a woman get pregnant in return for ‘lots of goodies’. I was tempted, very tempted but I declined. I can never give away my child for any amount of money.

.
Your baby? A child that does not share any of your DNA is now your baby? maybe you do not understand the concept of surrogacy( where two parent donate thier sperm and embryo to be fertilized before it is implanted in your womb)..you are just a container for the baby to grow in. You do not share any DNA with the unborn child what so ever; then why attached yourself emotionally to something that is not yours.Thank God you objected becos it is obvious you dont understand what is involve.

PlanetOfApes:
I hope children don't take after surrogate mothers.

Whatever the case, if i were to do, i wouldn't let someone looking like any of these carry my kids.

A clean fit Latina will be OK. I wouldn't want my kids looking like Okro soup after delivery. I would't want to take chances, science can be funny atimes.
If your face resemble obasanjo and your wife too self ugly ee nor get how the best Oyinbo woman or Hisbanic lady will influence the look of that baby. Its all boils down to the DNA of both parent to determine the outcome of the baby.

So a beautiful baby can be carried by any woman be it an Iya Bose or a market woman .A healthy and beautiful baby can be delivered as long has both egg and sperm deposited in her womb have good DNA.

You all commenting on which tribe is eligible to rule Nigeria or not are all diluted and brain dead. How has Buhari better his own state Katsina or his home town Daura, since he became the president of NIgeria? How did the South west fared when OBJ was the president of Nigeria? what about GEJ nko? nothing happened to his state and the people of Otueke not to talk of the general South south region. The only people that benefited from the previous government and are still benefiting are their immediate families, closed friends and political cronies; while the rest of you stupid Nigerian youth, will continue to rant online forever till your children grow's up to inherit the wailers clubs.

We are so useless that we are ready to channel all our energy into unproductive things like fighting one another online over stupid politicians from various political parties; these people do not even care if we live or die in our thousands but will gladly take the first flight abroad for treatment if anything threatens them or their families.

We are all cowards and stupid citizens for allowing our ethno/religious sentiment to cloud our sense of judgment; preventing us from uniting with one voice to demand for good governance over the years..these sentiment was used during our parents time and now we have inherited it and are now in the wailers clubs of always lamenting and doing nothing but divided at all time to confront our common enemies.

We only know how to complain and complain over bad governance behind our phones and laptops and be expecting angel Gabriel to come down from heaven to save us from our predicament, while we cower behind our desk and become supper e-warriors fighting one another.

We laugh and mock people that even made attempt to protest in the face of the current draconian leadership and leave them to their predicament because our mind are prejudiced that they did it for their personal interest. We even allow ourselves to be divided by stupid politicians and even go as far as a carry placard for a few Naira note just to counter other protesters who are demanding for a better welfare/governance.This is very disappointing and heartbreaking.

We are so oppressed that we now see mediocrity as a way of life. Our standard are so low that we are happy to celebrate simple things such as filling of pot holes on our bad roads and repair of drainage as achievement by our government..haba Nigerians.

We all need deliverance from our constant cowardice and mental slavery. Change will not come to us in the confine of your houses, we have to work for it .

on a normal day, who cares if only only one ethnic tribe rule Nigeria?.. will it change the condition of our country and bring hope back to our people?. Dont fight the battles of the politicians, leave it for their children and cronies that are benefiting to fight it for them. Channel your energy into how to unite our people across board and disabuse these factors (Ethnicity and religion ) that have always divided us .If we can remove these two monsters from our head then our way of reasoning will be made straight; with that we can come under one umbrella to battle power from these thief and their cronies. Stop this E- Warrior club and channel it into good use.

I have a polish friend who married with just 20€,, they went to the towns hall, registration fee was 100 zloty which is 20€,, the parents of both couples only and that was that,, and they both are in their early 20s,,, simple as that
That is why the world is diverse with thier unique way of doing things. The way of the polish people cannot be the same in places like India or China or other countries that have their peculiar way of marriage and tradition..

You cannot use another country and their way of life and style of marriage as a yardstick to measure your own continent..it shows you do not have an identity. You are always quick to put down your own because it is convenient for you to accept their style of living, then why don't you take every package that comes with marriages in the western world where the woman rules and the laws favors her if she does not want the marriage anymore. You think sey na here wey you be master of the house?where you can do and undo and society will tell your wife to bear your nonsense and pray for her husband? whilst she continue to be the good wife of keeping the home front running as you gallivant around with your guys around town and a couple of side chicks...

Applying the western culture means you have to be involve with the domestic affairs of the home 50/50..including helping out with the work around the house as well as the children, cleaning them up caring for then as at when due, both of you will be sharing roles and there wont be " I am the man of the house" both of you will share income 50/50 and no body is the head of the house.

You dare misbehave in anyway with another woman or any mistake of unfaithfulness then you are a goner..you will not only loose all your properties, you will lose full custody of your children ,you will be allowed visitation right(that is if she really mean to deal with you)

So marriages everywhere has their pros and cons..it now depend on you to know which one you can cope with. You can travel and marry a foreign woman with just 20 dollas /pound if you so wish..it is your life and we should choose what will make us happy.
Abeg nor dey rubbish our culture ooo..! I am sure that even within Nigeria we have marital rite that are very cheap and less fun fare..it varies from ethnic group to group and families to families
