Markfemi2:My Brother, I am not from the south east but I agree with what you have said thus far.Its only a Hypocrite that will say we should watch and do nothing under this lopsided and pathetic system of Govt..the suffering and smiling syndrome that Nigerians have is shocking..you see them fighting against change and they will still be the first people to cry about how backward our country is...they are expecting God to fall down from heaven and deliver them from the hole we have found ourselves or are they expecting the Hausa/Fulanis to come to theirs senses and give them restructuring..no it will never happen unless they unite with their southern counterpart to force them to either accept it or they will break away..I give it to N.Kanu ( though he is too brash and immature in some of his comment) for waking Nigerians up officially from their slumber. The Yorubas' should stop supporting this Hausa/Fulanis' divide and rule tactics and follow the light of change..so that their children will not face this same situation of being a second class citizen in their own country which we are presently experiencing. The Yorubas and the Niger Deltans should wake up.Thanks to majority of the Igbo ethnic group still fighting on, for your courage and doggedness in holding firm to your cause even in the face of intimidation and death. |
auwal1010:I am not from the south east but your write-up is very pathetic..how old are you? |
laudate:I am not supporting Kanu but the Arewa youth declaration was base on the seat at home order that was ordered by IPOB..they were upset, that was what militated the declaration..I dont like Kanu because I believe he is to brash and immature to lead..but the north have been known for its various atrocities against the south. They feel they own Nigeria and every other group are treated has second class citizens that is why its only the Hausa/Fulani can to carry weapons around to rape, main and kill at will without the FG acknowledging such as crime but is regarded as just a mere quarrel between farmers and herdsmen..this country is lopsided and the south easterners feels they are tired of one Nigeria..all they ask for is for a referendum but the north coined it to be war..because they feel they have the monopoly of violence because they now occupy the military...I believe the Igbos should be given a chance to decided if they wish to be part of Nigeria or not..you cannot force any ethnic group by force to remain with you..that is what the igbos are clamoring for. Nnamdi Kanu was quite immature in the way he went about his agitation but that does not give the Arewa youth the audacity to ask the igbos in north to park and leave and their properties confiscated..who does that and here you are supporting the north..the north has been known for its violence tendencies and thier born to rule mentality.. I am very sure you are one of them so i am not surprise. |
laudate:You talk as if you don't know the North..the message has been declared and the normal ignorant Amajiris in the street only knows how to do one thing which is killing non Muslim at the slightest opportunity..and you stand there to tell us that it was just a message and nothing else was said. |
I am disappointed in Okowa. I was one of those that canvass for him online here on nairaland that he should be governor of Delta state but i can now see that he is grossly inefficient and a coward to crown it all( He cannot even protect Deltans from this mosters called the Fulani headsmen)..I would rather vote APC in the next election though i dont like the party but i think PDP need to be kept on their toes. |
Following the threat to re-arrest the leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB, Nnamdi Kanu, by the federal government, Ohanaeze Ndigbo in a statement released to the press on Saturday, 26th August, had accused the federal government of bias as it claimed it looks the other way in its treatment of the Arewa youths who committed serious crime in their issuance of quit notice to fellow citizens living in the north. Showing support for the Ohanaeze stand, another leading Igbo group, Igbo Renaissance Agenda, IRA, has also lambasted the federal government over what it termed the “undue emotional and physical brutalization of innocent Igbos while treating confirmed terrorists from the north as royals”. In a statement released Monday morning and signed by Jude Ndukwe, coordinator, and Amaka Ekwo, Secretary, the group wondered why despite the multiple heinous crimes and macabre murders being committed all over the country by Fulani herdsmen terrorists, none of them has either been arrested or prosecuted. It also questioned why rather than diligently prosecute arrested Boko Haram terrorists, the federal government, in the name of a questionable deradicalisation programme, has taken the ignominious path of releasing them back into the society where some of them have been known to launch even more daring attacks against innocent and harmless citizens. IRA wondered why northern leaders, elders and youths are so obsessed with Nnamdi Kanu who has never been known to carry arms against the State that they want him destroyed while they protect their terrorist kith and kin who have continuously and violently staged war against the people and the State? “We find it unacceptable that groups ranked the first and fourth deadliest terrorist organizations respectively in the world are of the Hausa/Fulani stock from the north and are being allowed a field day to kill innocent Nigerians with reckless abandon while Nnamdi Kanu who has been a victim of gross abuse of his rights and the killing of his IPOB members without any provocation or reprisal of any kind on his part is being threatened with re-arrest and his IPOB group vindictively labeled and treated like a terrorist organization that it is not by government officials and Arewa youths who are obviously playing out a script written for them by their elders and leaders,” the group wrote. The group further stated that it finds it “irrational that the concern of the federal government is to further stoke the heat in an already flaming polity by attempting a needless re-arrest of Nnamdi Kanu rather than look for ways to douse the rising tensions all over the nation. “Even the UN in a recent release has expressed its grave concern ‘about the proliferation of hate messages and incitement to violence against the Igbo and their property’, yet, no one has been arrested for such treasonable offences. Rather than be arrested, these youths are given generous space in the media through the overt and covert support of governments at various levels to celebrate a quit notice issued to fellow citizens.” Reacting to the statement credited to the Minister of Interior, Abdulrahman Dambazzau, to the effect that the federal government cannot arrest the Arewa youths over its notice of quit to the Igbo in the north because the youths had confirmed they were quoted out of context by the media, the Igbo group slammed the minister for what it termed “an attempt at being clever by half”. “How could the federal government rely on the claim that the youths were quoted out of context in their failure to arrest the youths when there are video and audio evidence everywhere showing exactly what they have been saying? Can we then confidently say that Nnamdi Kanu and his IPOB group have also been quoted out of context by the media?” the group queried. While urging all sons and daughters of Igbo to remain vigilant everywhere they are, the group said it is seriously considering commencing processes in the US through some attorneys on the gross abuse of the rights of the Igbo leading to the cold murder of hundreds of them by the Nigerian military. “We have also instructed our foreign attorneys to commence immediate action against the federal government at The Hague for aiding and abetting crimes against humanity through their neglect, failure and or refusal to arrest Fulani herdsmen terrorists, an action that has led to numerous loss of innocent lives in genocidal proportions, if Nnamdi Kanu’s rights and those of any Igbo son and daughter continues to be violated by the federal government. Any attempt to re-arrest Nnamdi Kanu without allowing the on-going court processes to run its course would surely spell doom for the nation”, it concluded. http://nigeriamasterweb.com/paperfrmes.html |

HE Southern Leaders Forum, SLF, yesterday disagreed with President Muhammadu Buhari’s position on agitations for restructuring insisting that only restructuring will ensure the unity, peace and development of the country. leaders, who tackled President Buhari in his national broadcast, on arrival from a medical vacation, maintained that restructuring will help stem the tide of separatist feelings and agitations in the country. This, however, came as the Presidency yesterday, cautioned Nigerians especially opinion leaders to exercise restraint in bashing the President on issues bothering on restructuring, saying that he (President) cannot foist restructuring on the country. The Southern Leaders Forum made its position known in a communiqué, after a closed door meeting in Lagos. Leaders from the South West, South East and South South present include: Afenifere leader, Chief Ayo Adebanjo; former Director General of the Department of State Service, DSS, Chief Albert Horsfall; President of Ohanaeze Ndigbo, Chief John Nwodo; former President of Ohanaeze, Prof Joe Irukwu; former Foreign Affairs Minister, Sen Ike Nwachukwu; former Minister of Information and Culture, Chief Walter Ofonagoro and National Coordinator Oodua People’s Congress, OPC, Otunba Gani Adams. Others are Prof Adebanji Akintoye, Ohanaeze chieftain, Chief Guy Ikokwu; Mr. Denzik Kentebe, Col Tony Nyiam (retd), Chief Supo Shonibare and Mr. Tony Uranta. Reading the communiqué entitled: ‘Only restructuring will ensure the unity, peace and development of Nigeria’, SLF’s Publicity Secretary, Mr. Yinka Odumakin said the president’s attempt to play down the demand for the renegotiation of Nigeria is untenable. On the attempt to use repressive tactics to suppress opinions, Odumakin said: “The President expressed his disaffection about comments on Nigeria while he was away that question our collective existence as a nation and which he said have crossed the red lines. Against the background of the threat to treat hate speech as terrorism, we see a veiled threat to bare fangs and commence the criminalisation of dissenting opinions in our national discourse. Experience worldwide has shown that any attempt to deal with dissent by force usually drives it underground which makes it much more dangerous and difficult to deal with. “We should have learned a lesson or two from Boko Haram which was an open organisation before the state drove it underground and we are still under its reign of terror despite official claim that it has been technically defeated or degraded. As elders, who believe that it is better to seek solutions to problems, we appeal that we must engage in social engineering fully aware that globalisation has made it very difficult to use repressive tactics to suppress opinions. ” He added that “the claim that Nigeria’s unity is settled and not negotiable is untenable. Every country is a daily dialogue and there is nothing finally settled in its life. All the conferences held after independence on constitutionalism are all forms of negotiations. There is no peaceful coexistence that is not about negotiations in a plural society.” It also disagreed with the President that Nigeria remained a federation insisting that Nigeria ceased to be a federation after the 1966 coup. “We acknowledge the President’s admission that there are legitimate concerns in the land. That is commendable. We, however, disagree with his take that Nigeria is a federation. Nigeria ceased to be a federation since 1966 after the first coup. The turning of Nigeria into a unitary constitution which is not conducive to peace and development in a multi-ethnic country is what the military imposed 1999 constitution, which lied against itself with the ‘we the people’, is all about. This is the taproot of the crisis of nationhood in Nigeria.” While it disagreed with Buhari’s claims that the National Assembly and Council of State are legitimate and appropriate bodies for national discourse, the SLF said: “while we do not dispute that these are legal bodies, we insist they are not appropriate bodies to discuss the social contract that could bind us together as a nation state.” “While the composition of the National Assembly is clearly jigged and indeed one of the bodies to be restructured, the Council of State is not open to Nigerians for any discourse. If any discourse is to take place on constitutional changes within the democratic framework, Mr President is the one who has the responsibility to initiate the process”, Odumakin said. Fulani herdsmen. On the activities of suspected Fulani herdsmen terrorising farmers which the President described as two quarrelling groups, SLF’s spokesperson said it portrayed the President as taking sides. He said: “We are equally miffed that the President talks about the serial onslaughts by AK 47 wielding Fulani herdsmen against defenceless farmers as a conflict between two quarrelling groups. “In the last two years, the Fulani herdsmen have become much more ferocious in their attacks against farmers in the South and Middle Belt areas of the country with security forces shying away from enforcing law and order. To present the various onslaughts on farmers by these herdsmen as two fighting, would portray the President as taking sides with the aggressive Miyeti Allah.” He pointed out restructuring can tame “many errors of commission and omission the government has committed that have accentuated the strong self-determination feelings across the country.” It therefore called on the President to “realize that the country is in a very bad shape at the moment and requires statesmanship and not ethnic, religious and political partisanships. This is the time to renegotiate Nigeria along federal lines negotiated by our founding fathers to stem the tide of separatist feelings and agitations. “This is why we do not accept that it portrays the President in a favourably light to be away for a long period, only to return to a badly fractured polity and avoid promoting a new dialogue for a better, just, inclusive and peaceful country.” The forum also disagreed with the President that Nigeria remained a federation insisting that Nigeria ceased to be a federation after the 1966 coup. While it disagreed with Buhari’s claims that the National Assembly and Council of State are legitimate and appropriate bodies for national discourse, the SLF said: “while we do not dispute that these are legal bodies, we insist they are not appropriate bodies to discuss the social contract that could bind us together as a nation state.” “While the composition of the National Assembly is clearly jigged and indeed one of the bodies to be restructured, the Council of State is not open to Nigerians for any discourse. If any discourse is to take place on constitutional changes within the democratic framework, Mr President is the one who has the responsibility to initiate the process”, Odumakin said. Buhari can’t force restructuring through fiat — Presidency Meantime, the Presidency said while Nigerians were free to express themselves, they should exercise such liberty with restraint and a sense of responsibility. Senior Special Assistant to the President on Media and Publicity, Mallam Garba Shehu in a statement said those calling President Buhari an enemy of Nigeria was in extreme bad taste, adding that nothing in Buhari’s service record would justify such scurrilous language. The statement read: “Presidency advises opinion leaders to exercise restraint in public utterances. The Presidency has advised Nigerian opinion leaders to exercise restraint in their choice of words to avoid heating up the polity and causing acrimony across the country. “Defending the President’s speech on Monday on his return from a medical vacation, the Presidency said it is a matter of great satisfaction that a majority of the citizens welcomed the broadcast. “However, to critique the president for not responding to restructuring of the country – whatever that means – is completely off the mark.” Shehu said the President has no power to impose restructuring on the country by military diktat, adding that the National Assembly members were the elected representatives of the people who can handle agitations for restructuring and other constitutional changes. He explained that the President was constitutionally bound to work with the National Assembly to deal with such complex issues, reminding critics that the President would not exercise arbitrary powers or bypass the legislature in taking such fundamental decisions. He said: “Changes don’t happen on a whim in a democracy,” adding that “the ‘immediate effect’ military mentality cannot work under a democratic order” and that, “since the President has sworn to defend the constitution, he would remain faithful to that oath by working with the legislature in taking major decisions on the future of Nigeria’s federal system.” “While Nigerians are free to express themselves, they should exercise such liberty with restraint and a sense of responsibility”, he said. “Calling President Buhari an enemy of Nigeria is in extreme bad taste. Nothing in Buhari’s service record would justify such scurrilous language.” “The country’s parliament is ready and willing to discuss all issues but the pundits are more interested in TV and newspaper headlines. Threats don’t work in a democracy. Democracy requires planning and proper process. Issues are resolved through established processes, not by abuses, insults or irresponsible statements Read more at: https://www.vanguardngr.com/2017/08/southern-leaders-tackle-buhari-insist-restructuring/ |
Daboomb:You are not only a bigot but one that is filled with hate and resentment toward the whole Igbo tribe..how can you give a whole tribe the same negative coloration and make them look like the worse evil among us..what are you anyway?..your arrogance smells to the high heavens and yet you are busy calling the Igbo arrogant and intolerance..what would you say about the some core northerners that are highly intolerance of people that are not like them?..at least the Igbo intolerance do not end up with people being killed and massacred in their sleep!!..My God your write up is not only sicking but most insensitive..what tribe are you anyway? Hausa or Yoruba?..a South southerner can never write this rubbish? Is your tribe any better?..this is the injustice we are talking about ..where another tribe feels they are better than others, as such they should be treated as second class citizens ..this is what i call ethnocentrism. Now when these same oppressed tribes are seeking for separation from your circle you are against it and resort to all form of insult and derogatory remarks..I am not from the south east but Mr man you goof big time..your write up is rubbish..did you hear that? rubbish!..just clap for your self for being a spiteful and hateful person. My goodness! Some Nigerians will not stop to amaze me.Yet you stand there and say there should be unity when you are a symbol of the opposite. |
mynd1:what Lion king are you talking about...is it the the lion that cannot attend a common SEC meeting after spending three months in London at the expense our money? and has decided to work from home because he cannot even have the energy to stand and move well because he is still sick and weak..and you sycophants..have you being paid today for a being suffering and smiling citizen? how has this government better your lot? I am not a fan of Nnamdi Kanu but i will give it to him for waking us up once more to know that Nigeria is not working and a call for fairness and justice to everyobne in the land..your president is a sectional and religious bigot and clueless to crown it all..so guy chill and tell us something else..Lion king ko, Lion king ni..! |
nairanaira12:But the same Tinubu turned his back on restructuring immediately his party won the election only to go back to his vomit of accepting it when his power in the party was being undermined. I have said it on countless occasion that we Nigerians are all selfish and self centered when it to comes to issues that will foster national progress and development. we should tell our self the truth.until we start looking out for the welfare of our neighbors irrespective of their tribe and religious affiliations this country will never move forward and we will continue with this merry go round that we have found ourselves. The south south is selfish, the south west is selfish, the south east is selfish as well as the entire north..we are all selfish and self centered.so oga..if Vice president Osibanjo becomes president of Nigeria today..the noise about restructuring from the south west will die down.the same thing applies other ethnic groups. We are all bunches of sycophants and hypocrites. |
Jahsam:Well, i stand to be corrected anyway..this is the society both of us live in.So can you pick/vouch for any youth that can stand the test of these three factors that have mentioned? And would not flinch even a bit when he is offered millions of naira and a political appointment? he will ask himself why he should risk these goodies that has come one in his life time for the same Nigerians that wouldn't even honor nor immortalize him should should anything happen to him..life goes on that is how it is in Nigeria..the honorable ones get ignored while the corrupt once with money get immortalized...nothing count in this country except money. This is the sick society we find ourselves..and we are a product of this society..now how would you convince this man to see things differently? when he knows the society he comes from do not celebrate our heroes but only mock them for showing undue bravery which they see as self serving for cheap publicity..why would anyone want to ignore those nice goodies over what? fighting for Nigerians? it is complicated..though but i think it we shall get there but it cannot be a sudden things. |
Jahsam:So many factors my brother.Majority of Nigerians do not reason objectively nor do they have a discerning mined for issues that concerns them and as such cannot achieve a common purpose without suspicious of the motive behind that very move even if it is glaring that is for the good of everyone. This issue raises it ugly head whenever people from different religious and ethnic dichotomy are involve. Majority of Nigerian youth and adult are gullible( they read, hear and believe everything they get hook line and sinker from their political leaders who will always stand in the way of a united masses: blind loyalist i will call them). Secondly, They are easily carried away by their greed for material things and opulence. This is why they can easily be bought over by money or political appointment that will change their lot. No sense of honor, integrity nor patriotism. By the time you know it, they this same people will turn around and start singing another language different from the one they vouched to uphold. We must repair our deform psychic before we can be able to come under one umbrella to fight for a common purpose. so, NO: this present youth cannot unite under one umbrella, we are too divided to reason alike. |
No we cant. |
There are so many Poz Players that are just out to break people heart , I dont know why they do that.. Anyway, The cure to this condition is just by the corner. Everyone must continue to take their drugs diligently until the cure comes. |
Segunagagu:It is because of the fear of disclosure and rejection at the time. This is the reality Segun. This is Nigeria. |
Nice one.people should start speaking up. |
senatordave1:ya..they have wonderful qualities but can you sleep with your two eyes close when it comes to their violent nature with a twinkle of an eye.? would you rather risk your life on the alter of they are humble, honest, truthful, nice and friendly? oga..no matter the nice qualities of these people i would rather cohabit with people of south and middle belt than the core north.I rate them low when it comes to human co-habitation.your throat can be slit at the slightest provocation and their anger and forgiveness endures far longer than decades. |
modsfucker:keep hiding your head in the sand that your brothers do no carry out these atrocities .The problem with the north is that you guys always hide the truth and make the situation non existence while it very much exist and obvious for all to see.You guys have never face the problem and call say it has it is..the core north is known throughout the world for it religious violent activities and i believe the perpetrator of this act are not ghost..are they?does he need to be in the north to experience it first hand?..God forbid..the violent northerners and their sympathizers are much more than the non violent ones that hate what they do which are the norther christian minority has they are equally victims of this wicked act.yes there is Jihad in the north..eg. The southern Kaduna Killings..and the preacher killed in Abuja..the Igbo lady butchered to death becos she protested against the front of her store for being use for their Muslim prayer section..and countless of older stories..only God can Deliver the people of the core north. |
Cubeet2:you are right..their thinking way different from the core northerners. If you have a core northerner as a friend you can dine with them but you have to run for cover during any uprising against Christians or southerners. In their eyes you are just an infidel and nothing more.I rather live together, have disagreement &settle issues with with my Southerner brothers and sisters as well as people from Middle Beltans and be at peace with them than people from the core north. |
bigcp:This one nor dey happen for Nigeria oo..in this part of the world na una dey rule..but oversea..well..you have to share your property with your wife according to the law..sad though. |
zed7:women would only call for divorce mostly when their husbands are unfaithful or batter them.you guys will never look at the ills from the men's side but only focus on the women.it takes two to tangle. Most Nigerian men are selfish and always want to eat their cake and have at the same time. No woman will ever work out on a man if he is a dedicated father and a husband and at the same time a provider while she support him too, no woman will work out on a man who does not batter her but act matured when she is sometimes on unreasonable....then later reason with her and talk sense into her. alot of men these days have no business getting married becos they still take their bachelor lifestyle into marriage..eg constant clubbing even after marriage; keeping strings of single lady friends both online and offline,,..thinking the their wives should be seen and not be heard.when you kill that very trust in your marriage upon which your marriage stands on then what on earth do you think the woman should do? Alot of you guys don't have a clue about marriage.Sorry these woman cannot be battered unjustly and expect to remain mute until there is not breath from them any more nor would they continue to suffer in silence while you guys frolic around with countless ladies, sleeping around and giving your wives deadly diseases. it take two to tangle.both have to work to make the marriage work and it has to be base on mutual respect and understanding, Dedication, faithfulness , honesty and intergrity from both parties with and prayer. |
