Rgade:I don't claim to have any such evidence, though Ockham's Razor suggests it does. The question is why we are expected to believe some far-flung conspiracy about APC being behind this, even though there is plenty of easily verifiable evidence of Peter Obi and his followers telling brazen lies. Also note that no one is accusing APC in isolation. If that were the case you might have a point but we have gotten to a point where Nigerians perfectly understand what APC is capable of. Propaganda is part of politics yes, but APC took propaganda to another level. And what entitles you to speak for all Nigerians? I certainly don't share your paranoid worldview. Do you have any polling evidence to buttress your claims? A party that hired fake bishops to endorse their candidate you think this is below them? Can you provide any solid evidence that the actual APC had a hand in any these claims? And here I don't mean anonymous online commenters claiming to be APC supporters, but official APC representatives, or at least individuals with verified financial relationships with the APC. |
onuman:And your evidence for this? You do understand that an accusation is not evidence, right? People discovered that Tinubu's urchins actually put up the falsehood credited to Peter Obi. So whatever falsehood put on line at the credit of Obi and followed by fact checks, is believed to be from Tinubu urchinns. All you've done here is reassert the same paranoid conspiracy for which I'm requesting evidence. I could just as easily state that "Many people are saying Peter Obi is the lovechild of Satan and Adolf Hitler", and I'd have just as much "evidence" as you have provided. |
ogatboy:So your method of refuting a brazen lie is to perpetuate another brazen lie of your own - because unless you can point to some real evidence that this didn't come from a genuine Obi supporter, all you're doing is engaging in defamation, which is par for the course with you Obi fanatics. Everytime Obi, his campaign or his supporters are caught out in a lie, you either rush to say the lie is actually true, that it's a "misstatement" that doesn't really matter, or that it's actually a supposed APC agent who was responsible for manufacturing the lie you're unable to defend - yet for some strange reason, you're never able to produce this APC agent supposedly sullying your cult leader's name. Which APC agents have been responsible for the numerous lies which have issued from Peter Obi's lips over the years? Is he a ventriloquist's dummy or something? |
Gentino:Where is your evidence that the APC had anything to do with this? Can you share with us a single piece of evidence indicating that this fraud was perpetuated by anyone other than an Obi supporter with a typical casual disregard for the truth? Your very own paranoid, conspiratorial accusation is perfectly in line with this "big lie" approach to politics, after all. |
donleo92:See Mr. Dundee united using broken English to call someone better read a "mumu" - as if you and your grammatically incoherent ramblings weren't an examplar of "mumuism" at its worst. I know you're slow on the uptake, but here's some free advice: the sooner you stop typing rubbish into your knockoff of a cheap Tecno phone, the sooner you'll stop providing evidence to the world of your subnormal IQ. |
donleo92:The pathetic, paranoid prattling of a parasite. I make more in an hour than you get living off the Abia state public teat in a month. It pays to know all that "grammer" [sic] you dozed through during your school days! but wait idi*ot I won ask you something, is it wrong to be paid? The only "idiöt" here is you, and you're a vicious, selfish, greedy one to boot. Imagine the effrontery of a halfwitted rambler like you questioning anyone else's intelligence! see mr man, tell me one thing apart from this so called eye service that she has done for the good women of Abia state. no come dey use big Grammer they decieve people. It's "grammar", you cretin, not "grammer", and your inability to spell or write grammatically correct English says it all about just how unqualified you are to be on the public payroll. Abia and all the other states would be far better off purging their employee rolls of puffed-off, entitled deadweights like you, and reallocating the money to things of real value. Ultimately, the blame for all this nonsense lies in the federal allocation system, which allows state governments to wait from manna to fall from Abuja instead of raising funds through the proper methods of taxation. If taxpayers knew there was no big daddy waiting in Aso Rock to bail them out, they wouldn't tolerate the bloated public payrolls that allow semi-literate sociopaths like you to spew your incoherent drivel online instead of at least pretending to be "working" for the dole you're angrily demanding at the cost of others' suffering. |
donleo92:Better to have no "sense" than to allow an empty stomach to turn me into a selfish, inhuman monster. wait on a more serious note, what has she done for the women of Abia state? any known women empowerment initiative?Whether she's looking for public sympathy or not, what she has done here is a good thing. That you are incapable of acknowledging as much says everything we need to know about how sincere you are in your pretended concern "for the women of Abia state". All you really care about is getting paid a salary for being a deadweight on the state's payrolls, and you don't give a damn about "the women of Abia state" as long as you get to "chop" public money you clearly don't deserve. You are the sort of empty humanitarian who cares about "people" in the abstract but hates all the individual people he sees in the flesh. |
donleo92:What a dumb statement. You do realise it's possible to do both things at once, right? It is the height of selfishness to wish for the continuation of another person's suffering because your own hasn't been alleviated - if this is how you are as a public "servant", you probably don't deserve any salary you think your government is paying you, and everyone else would be better off if you were struck off the public payroll altogether. |
grandstar:It's not so much Peter Obi himself that I dislike, as the general air of mendacity, empty bluster and character assassination that has enveloped his campaign from the very beginning. The incessant propaganda from his zealots rankles me because they've wrapped a turd up in a fancy box and are now insisting that we all say it smells as sweet as a rose, even when it clearly stinks to high heaven. How is it that a man whose term in office actually overlapped with Tinubu's, and who ran as Atiku's Vice Presidential candidate just 3 years ago, is now being sold as "new blood"? How is it that a 61 year old man is being sold as a "youth" as against the supposedly ancient 69 year old? How can a man who was caught red-handed in 3 separate acts of corruption (N250 million cash in Lagos, putting government funds into personal businesses, violating Nigerian disclosure laws as witnessed in the Pandora Papers) be promoted with a straight face as an "upright" politician who will cleanse the Augean stables of Nigerian politics? Peter Obi has been caught red-handed in corruption many times more than the "Tinubu" and "Atiku" that Obi's zealots insult day and night! Where was Peter Obi's supposedly principled "hatred of "corruption" when he agreed to be Atiku's running mate in 2019? Did Atiku only just become a crook after that date? How can one herald as a man of "principle", a person who swore he would never leave the APGA which gave him his start, then broke his oath by jumping to the PDP, and later, upon realizing he stood no chance running directly against Atiku, has now fled to the Labour Party? At least Atiku stuck to just 2 parties, while Tinubu, whom the Obi fanatics hate with such ferocity, stuck with a single party even when PDP hegemony seemed unchallengeable (the APC is the direct descendant of Tinubu's ACN). How can anybody promote as a man of "strong beliefs" a businessman who, having made so much of his supposed "small state" tight-fistedness, now throws in his lot with a welfarist Labour Party whose stated anti-business, pro-worker principles are the very opposite of the right-wing, business oriented, low-tax-and-spend politics Obi made such a fuss about representing? As yet, Peter Obi has been unable to give a single clear, unambiguous answer to what exactly he plans to do with power if he should win the presidency, let alone how he intends to get any of his policies through a House and Senate where his Labour Party will have next to no representation. All he does when asked questions is go on irrelevant tangents full of hot air, and he seems utterly incapable of resisting the urge to spew brazen falsehoods to make up for his lack of substance and general unwillingness to risk alienating any supporters by adopting any clear positions. Take all the empty hype away and all one is left with is a candidate whose sole appeal is one based on tribalism, on the general Igbo feeling that it is "their turn" in a "turn by turn, you chop I chop" view of politics. Tinubu wants to massively increase education spending and broaden the tax base, while Atiku wants to shrink the state by privatizing and deregulation, but what does Obi stand for once you take away the hot air about "youth" and "eliminating corruption" (as if we hadn't heard that one before)? This is the very worst of corrupt, idea-free, tribalistic politics being dressed up as a virtuous, youth-led crusade, and his supporters make matters worse by incessantly spamming every social media forum they can find with insults, threats, blatantly fake "news", religious and tribalistic calumnies, and an outright idolatrous attitude to a man who has been feeding from the public trough right alongside the other 2 candidates they call thieves. They insult everyone else's intelligence by acting as if they can package a corrupt mediocrity as a brilliant, saint-like, once in a lifetime phenomenon, when it's clear to anyone not caught up in their hype that Obi is in many ways the least appealing of the top contestants, given his lack of core principles, his forgettable performance as a governor, his undeniable corruption, and his inability to get anything done even if by some miracle he should manage to fool enough people into giving him a victory. |
Just as so many people have been criticizing Peter Obi for being intellectually shallow and incapable of anything more than uttering ridiculous soundbites, here he goes and confirms everything the critics have been saying! What on earth has a leader's being in a wheelchair got to do with leadership? If Peter Obi weren't such an ignoramus, he'd have known that Franklin Delano Roosevelt - America's greatest president of the 20th century, who led the USA to victory over Nazi Germany and Imperial Japan - was wheelchair bound for the entirety of his presidency. Nigerians would count themselves blessed thrice over to have the good fortune of enjoying such visionary and steadfast leadership. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Paralytic_illness_of_Franklin_D._Roosevelt The bottom line that all the low-IQ Zombidiots seem incapable of processing: the presidency is not a wrestling match or a bodybuilding competition, and it cannot be decided by shallow physical qualities (as if the pot-bellied Obi were some sort of amazing physical specimen to begin with). Posting unflattering pictures of rival candidates may make you feel good about your crooked, third-rate opportunist of a tribal champion who jumps from party to party in search of self-advancement, but it won't convince anyone with a working brain that a compulsive liar with no identifiable beliefs can in any way become a "savior" of anything other than his own pockets.

Akmahoghany:But they'd be right 99% of the time, so what's the problem? |
Coolsperm:You have to be the dumbest Igbo troll on this forum by a mile, so intellectually limited you post this ridiculous lie right after one where you rant about "Yoruba Muslim pigs" ... Of course, if you had 2 functioning brain-cells to rub together, you'd never have chosen a disgusting moniker like "coolsperm" in the first place. |
caracas:LOL, said to a blood relative of the Oba of Lagos ... Enjoy your hallucinations of grandeur - I suppose you need something to keep you going in the face of your massive inferiority complex. |
Kingsnairaland:But Kaspersky is a Russian firm! https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kaspersky_Lab Next time, try doing a little homework before resorting to anti-American conspiracy nonsense. |
caracas:And yet both of them combined couldn't do the same for the southeast ... Where these unshakeable delusions of grandeur come from, I don't know. |
IfnobeGod20:This claim about the ports is an outright false statement which has been debunked on Nairaland too many times to mention. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Onne https://www.nairaland.com/5187075/onne-sea-port-20-things-know https://www.nairaland.com/6057000/onne-seaport-welcomes-biggest-ship https://www.nairaland.com/7080550/container-vessel-berths-onne-port The very fact that you insist on making this false claim is solid ground in and of itself to suspect you of being yet another aggrieved Igbo pretending to be Yoruba to earn undeserved credibility. |
BlazinGlory40:They can't help themselves - their tribalism is too deeply ingrained for them to understand the simple notion that people from other tribes can't be won over through insults. No doubt they believe Igbo votes alone will suffice to carry Peter Obi to Aso Rock. |
Ballzproblemm:You harbor so much tribal hatred that you can't even muster the self-control to resist insulting the "aphonja" man who received Obi, and yet you expect him and all the other "aphonjas" you hate so much to overlook your insults and vote for your candidate? In what universe do you (and the 21 other benighted tribalists who "liked" your post) live in? You are a textbook example of an Obi supporter who does the candidate far more harm than good. Even when he tries to take steps to prove he's more than just a vehicle for Igbo tribalistic resentment, nitwits like you come along and put the lie to any such efforts. Bad enough that you lie incessantly and try to paint a longstanding PDP operator with numerous corruption scandals under his belt as some sort of saint, and that you flood every social media website with your anti-Tinubu slanders and fake pictures, but that you have so little respect for others that you feel entitled to demand their votes even as you fling tribalistic insults at them - that is truly one for the record books in terms of "chutzpah". |
jeromestarks:You are seriously sick in the head. |
texazzpete:And what would turning whistleblower achieve in a massively corrupt society like Nigeria, except to turn the guy into yet another target of victimisation? Or do you imagine that the people he'd be blowing the whistle to aren't also involved in all this corruption? |
lorhema:If the fear of God were sufficient to set Nigerians on the path of honesty and decency, then most "religious" Nigerians must be atheists in practice, whatever they might ostentiatiously pretend to be. One never sees priests, imams, pastors and "prophets" disturbing the public peace so flagrantly in bastions of clean government like Denmark or Switzerland as one does in Nigeria, where people have time to spare raging against gays and crossdressers, while greeting public officials who steal funds meant for orphans and widows as "big men" worthy of adoration. |
Cmeo:Or rather, the leaders are bad because they are drawn from a mass of already corrupt ordinary citizens. We love to tell ourselves that we act the way we do because our leaders set a bad example, but the truth is precisely the other way around: there are very few ordinary, church/mosque-going, "honest" Nigerians who wouldn't put Dasuki, Abacha, Diezani and the rest to shame if ever given the opportunity. All that "I hate the corruption of XYZ" means when coming from the mouth of a typical Nigerian is "I hate how XYZ are leaving me out of their corruption". If not for this corrupt mindset, every election wouldn't turn into a tribal, religiously sectarian "do or die" struggle with people mouthing nonsense about "turn by turn" or "fairness, equity and justice" ... |
olinx:Yes o! What were the people of Abia, Ebonyi and Imo states thinking when they elected Tinubu as their governor? Serves them right! ![]() |
einsteine:You accuse me of employing an ad hominem, but then you proceed to engage in the fallacy of argument by assertion: "CBN governors aren't independent because I say so". It's precisely because of motivated "reasoning" like this that I raised the point of tribalism - try as you might to argue otherwise, Emefiele has far more legal room to object to Buhari's demands than any other official in the Nigerian government, and yet you happily laid blame on others while seeking to skip him over. What possible reason could there be for such a manuever in the Nigerian context other than tribalism (or worse yet, nepotism)? If Emefiele were a man of conscience and backbone, he could have simply refused to comply with Buhari's requests, gone public to make his case as to why Buhari's views were wrongheaded, and laid the onus at Buhari's door to fire him if he dared, with all the world's eyes on him. Any such firing would have required a lot of legal wrangling in the courts and the Senate, and as Emefiele has recently shown, he has no problem dragging the government to court when it suits his selfish purposes. But no, Emefiele had to play the craven houseboy, running around trying to please Buhari and his cronies like the late Isa Funtua, by facilitating the "round-tripping" scam for them at the expense of 200 million other Nigerians. Despite all this, I've seen far more outrage about this state of affairs directed at the likes of Kemi Adeosun or Zainab Ahmed, neither of whom has had a role with guaranteed independence and whose mandate is to ensure price stability. Why would that possibly be the case? If you want to demonstrate that you're no tribalist, then the least you can do is be intellectually consistent. If Emefiele isn't to blame for the disastrous performance of the economy of the last 7 years, no one is. If you excuse him from responsibility because you think his statutory independence doesn't hold in reality, then you can't blame others who lack even that statutory independence to fall back on, however illusory it may be in practice. |
einsteine:Actually the joke is on you. The governor of the CBN is statutorily independent, meaning Emefiele has no legal obligation whatsoever to pay attention to Buhari's economically illiterate demands, yet Emefiele does so anyway, like a fearful houseboy afraid of his master's koboko. This makes Emefiele far more deserving of scorn than any of the ministers who serve purely at Buhari's pleasure (and who can therefore be dismissed at any moment). Emefiele has spent the last 7 years helping Buhari destroy the Nigerian economy when anyone with a backbone in his position could have simply said "No", but as usual tribalism blinds you and all the others on here who refuse to criticise him to the reality of his culpability. Godwin Emefiele is the most feckless and incompetent person ever to serve as governor of the CBN. |
As expected, not a single attempt to rebut the substance of the argument, just unfounded accusations that the writer must be in the pay of Tinubu, all-caps rants about "propaganda", references to the fact that the author has a Yoruba name (as if that had any bearing on the truth of what he had to say), and the usual "whataboutism" with references to "the druggie" (whoever that might be in the fevered fantasies of the IPOB contingent). It's almost as if the author of the article were unto something, a fact all the commenters on this thread recognize, but as they don't really care that Peter Obi is as crooked as the rest of them - they support him only because he's from their tribe - they are forced to lash out in anger at anyone who dares point out the emperor has no clothes. As the writer said, Peter Obi has been a major player in the very system of corruption he's supposedly crusading against for nearly 2 decades, so how can anyone who hasn't drunk the "Igbo champion" koolaid believe for a second that he represents any kind of "new blood"? |
maestroferddi:While I think you are the naive one, imagining that the hitherto toothless and corrupt Nigerian judiciary will suddenly discover its integrity and independence, or that there are imaginary "impregnable bulwarks" a President Obi would be free to erect without any appointees to execute his will or a budget to pay for them, I at least commend you for responding in a civil fashion. If more Obi supporters were like you in this regard, we might actually start to discuss the merits and demerits of the various candidates with a dose of objectivity, which would enable us to hold them all to much higher standards than was the case with the previous "messiah" currently doing nothing whatsoever in Aso Rock ... |
As usual, Obi supporters resort to the same old tactic of spewing insults, threats and lies when confronted with an inconvenient truth: even in the case that the miracle required to win Peter Obi the presidency actually transpires (and it will take a miracle for him to win outside the SE where he is being propelled by ethnic sentiments), he will be hamstrung from the very first day he wins office, as both the House of Representatives and the Senate will be controlled by parties with zero incentive to help him succeed. They will block every single one of his appointments, they will refuse to pass any legislation that will make him look good, they will open investigations into every part of his life and career in the same way America's Republicans harrassed first Bill and then Hilary Clinton, and then they will wait for Obi to react in frustration by attempting to bypass the legislature altogether, at which point they will have legitimate cause to impeach him and throw him out of office. It is sheer delusion to expect "corrupt" reps and senators to defect en-masse to a supposedly "clean" President Obi who will have no money of his own to offer them, nor "juicy" appointments to dangle before them where they can enrich themselves and their cronies. This will be reinforced by the reality that neither Tinubu nor Atiku will magically disappear after the election is over, and both of them will continue to exercise an iron grip on their parties given the absence of a Buhari or GEJ to rein them in. One cannot claim Tinubu and Atiku are both "crooked" moneybags while also expecting the "crooked" legislators who answer to them to suddenly defect to a "saintly" Peter Obi who is supposedly itching to clear out the Augean stables of Nigerian politics: what would be in it for them? And if Obi turns out to be just another crook ready to use the power of patronage to buy support in the NASS, what will have been the point of all the "Obidient" gra gra we are currently hearing, other than this time around it's an Igbo man who happens to be sharing out the "national cake" to his friends and followers? In a presidential system like Nigeria's, which follows the American model so closely, a President without majorities in both houses of the legislature is a lame duck, especially when the legislators have no incentive to even give his appointees a hearing. The only thing an Obi presidency would achieve would be months of gridlock followed by political drama as APC and PDP legislators worked to throw Obi out of office, and the inevitable cries of "witch hunt" followed by violence broke out in an SE feeling aggrieved that they haven't been allowed a full 8 years for their own kinsmen to enjoy the spoils of office in peace. |
sucess001:You're too lacking in intelligence to bother wasting any more effort on. Nigeria's tragedy is that it is full of drooling, bigoted cretins just like you, raw fodder for exploitation by lazy and incompetent legislators. |
sucess001:You shouldn't throw around terms like "mumu" when you're the one it applies to the most. What part of "Nigeria is a secular state" don't you understand? If you don't like crossdressing, don't crossdress then! Nobody's forcing you to engage in it, so why bother yourself with what's under someone else's clothes? It's not the job of the Nigerian state to enforce what you call "moral". I know the thought has never crossed your empty mind, but all of us have different ideas of what constitutes "morality". Sunni Muslims say one thing, Shiites say another, Catholics have their own, Methodists differ, Baptists have theirs too, etc, and then there are the practitioners of the hundreds of African indigenous religions. Whose idea of "morality" wins out in this theocratic fantasy of yours, and what happens when the rest refuse to go along? |
simplesearch:If you want to live under "God's law" so badly, why not move to Saudi Arabia, Iran or Afghanistan, and let the rest of us live in a nation with a clear separation between Church/Mosque and State? Government should be about solving real problems affecting all citizens, not for imposing the religious beliefs of a few on everyone else. |
sucess001:And how exactly does what someone else wear threaten your morals? Are you trying to say the sight of a man cross-dressing will somehow awaken shameful desires within you or something? If so, that says a lot more about your own sexual confusion than it does about anything else. The rest of us have no need for a Saudi-style "morals police" to keep us from being led astray be crossdressers. |
