TravelRe: The New Yorker Magazine Article On Lagos by Omolulu(m): 8:57pm On May 25, 2007
The problem with some people is that they just love self deceit, The bitter truth is that LAGOS IS DIRTY but we only waited for a foreigner to come and tell us.I read someone citing buildings in Lagos such as Silverbird gallerias,UBA and GLO buildings etc as signs of a changing Lagos, True you may say,but the bitter truth is that Lagos is one of the dirtiest and foulest cities in the world. The journalist only based his judgement on his view from the third mainland bridge, he should have gone to oshodi, pen cinema, iju,Ajegunle,Ajangbadi, etc, There are so many Places which breed the creme de la creme in bacteria land.Even places like ikoyi and Lekki still provide breeding grounds for germs and other man killers.
All those nairalanders who are so patriotic that they cant see the truth should look in front of their houses and see whether such an environment is what they should be proud of!!It is up to we as citizens to make Lagos a better place as well as assist the government to make Lagos a true city of our pride, What is there anyway to be proud of in a city that one sleeps with an eye open and dies slowly after inhaling carbon monoxide for over 5 hours in the day minimum.Making Lagos the city of our pride demands the contributions of the young, the old,the rich and the poor etc.If this could happen then there would be no need to have "environmental every last Saturday"
PS; A true patriot is one who recognizes his problems and works to combat them, wink grin cool

European Football (EPL, UEFA, La Liga)Re: Is Penalty Luck Or Not? by Omolulu(m): 5:59pm On May 21, 2007
Penalty is a game of luck cos nearly every footballer has missed penalties at one point or the other. We've seen instances when players who would never miss penalties on a good day would step forward and blast the penalty wide or into the keeper's arms(Beckham at Euro 2004,shevchenko in istanbul 2005,maldini at Euro2000,Rui costa at Euro 2004 etc). The great zidane in a documentary also reavealed that his secret to penalties was that he'd just choose a spot and blast it there without caring whether the penalty would be caught or not. This further goes to show that we cannot talk of a proffessional penalty taker the way we would talk about a proffesional goalscorer.Every player needs some degree of luck to score penalties wink
European Football (EPL, UEFA, La Liga)Re: Mikel Obi, C.ronaldo, Fabregas And Messi. Who Is The Best? by Omolulu(m): 5:45pm On May 21, 2007
These guys are good players.i love john mikel obi and fabregas for their technicality and understanding of their roles especially as defensive/central midfielders.C.ronaldo and Messi have been successful in blending the south american game with the European style of play.Overall,i think i favour Lionel messi over the others because, irrespective of his injuries and his lack of a first team shirt in both club and country,He manages to make a difference on the field.
SportsRe: Wade Vs Lebron James by Omolulu(m): 1:10pm On May 20, 2007
Good comparison,i'll rather opt for Lebron. He's naturally good, likewise wade. But his advantage over wade is his consistency
PoliticsAfter 46 Years, what Really Is The Problem Of Nigeria? by Omolulu(op): 12:55pm On May 20, 2007
It is surprising that after all these years Nigeria is still lagging behind in terms of total development. My people,is it because of the leaders, lack of resources,or we've just been condemned to be underdeveloped. Please contribute to this topic as your views in no small measure contributes to the growth and success of Nigeria.

TravelRe: Lagos: The World's 5th Worst Place to Live In by Omolulu(m): 8:12pm On May 18, 2007
I cant really tell because i dont know the criteria for the BBC'S assessment but one thing i do know is that Lagos is one of the worst cities in the world because it is poorly planned, lacks organization, committed staff who are dedicated to make it work, etc. The crux of the matter is that Lagos cannot just be the ideal place for people to live in and raise their families. embarassed
PoliticsRe: Tinubu And Pedro's Madness by Omolulu(m): 7:51pm On May 18, 2007
I have never ever seen Tinubu as a true Democrat, indeed the rest of his fellow party members. It is my belief that the only true democrats have been relegated to the background in Nigeria.I lost my respect for him when he single handedly imposed Fashola on his party leading to the exit of 11 of the gubernatorial aspirants from the action congress(Democracy forever).
By law,a letter has been delivered as long as it has been dispatched from any destination,if this were not so,then there wont be any case in court as many Nigerians would deny knowledge of any suit.He has however succeded in impeaching his 2 deputy governors during his 8 year term(remember bucknor akerele).Rather than allow the man resign peacefully he vented and included his sentiments by refusing to acknowledge his letter of resignation.
I would rather advise Nigerians to ignore the man in future because no man can be greater than the people who made him.A man with whom he had cuccessfully worked with for 4 years and a few monnths suddenly became enemy number 1 in his eyes because the man according to Tinubu made statements that were injurious to the goodwill of the people of Lagos. If Nigeria must move forward we must ignore the existence of such "wolves in sheep's clothings" cool
PoliticsRe: Niger Delta Crisis by Omolulu(m): 10:53pm On May 17, 2007
The problem in the Niger Delta is the product of the many years of neglect of the people of that region.it is a known fact that if resources had been adequately pumped into the region then there wud be little or no need for violence.Had the government taken more time to focus and solve the problems of the region then we wud not reach this stage of nearing civil war.The only solution is not a meeting of Elders and governmentt or the militants kidnapping every fair skinned man in Nigeria but the execcution of meningful projects like roads, hospitals, schools befitting of a region that takes pride as the source of the Nation's wealth by both the federal government,NDDC,state governments and in no small measure the local government.

PoliticsRe: Akunyili Or Ribadu: Who Performed Better? by Omolulu(m): 12:16pm On May 17, 2007
Nuhu's job dealt with fraudsters and political oppponents of the PDP administration.Akunyili's job dealt with the lives of over 140 million Nigerians. But for the determination of Akunyili,God only knows whether Ribadu,in moments of stress and tension could have fallen victim to fake drugs, likewise anyone else, from the president to the buns seller.I'll give it to akunyili, she's done better but this is not to undermine Nuhu's efficiency as well.
European Football (EPL, UEFA, La Liga)Re: Chelsea's Success: Mourinho's Management Or Abrahamovich's Millions? by Omolulu(m): 12:07pm On May 17, 2007
Many people may say that Abramovich's millions were instrumental in Chelsea's success.I agree likewise but i also want to point out that Chelsea's success is largely due to mourinho's ability to harness different players from different clubs and leagues, intergrate them into a squad and achieve success in his first 2 seasons at Stamford bridge.Bringing players like Essien from France,Carvalho and Ferreira from Portugal,Robben from Holland,DD from France and blending them with Frank and J.terry and yet achieving success is no mean feat. Many modern managers take time to blend into the system before making any impact eg The coaches at real madrid from the exit of Del Bosque have found it difficult putting madrid back in the limelight. Most coaches achieve success with teams that have been together or players that have played in the same league for some time.Jose has shown his a quality coach with his work at Chelsea.Besides any coach who has won a champions league trophy is good ; Ferguson,Mourinho,Hertzfeld.Cryuff,Ancelloti,Del Bosque,Capello etc. wink wink
European Football (EPL, UEFA, La Liga)Re: Champion's League Final: AC Milan Versus Liverpool by Omolulu(m): 11:48am On May 17, 2007
"YOU'LL NEVER WALK ALONE"Liverpool have a point to prove by walking back to the merseyside with the trophy. They seem to me like the most determined side in Europe. As for Milan,i guess they'll be cautious to a fault.Besides in football,Thunder sometimes strikes twice :- grin*
EducationRe: Private Universities In Nigeria by Omolulu(m): 5:26pm On Jan 03, 2007
I agree with seun on the view that nothing is free in life.however examples from developed states like Britain and the US shows that privatized enterprises and ventures aid the the growth of nations.there are privatized railway lines in the US,Privatized hospitals etc.it doesn't stop the government from providing alternatives to private options. The objective of tax payment is to provide services for the common welfare of the society irrespective of one's status or position. When we talk about exorbitant school fees, such a situation is not only peculiar to Nigerian private universities but in private universities all over the world.they receive no funds from government and still have to build structures, pay staff, pay bills,TAX,etc.if these factors are duly considered, then we would see that there is every reason for these prices to be increased.By the way,no one is been forced to pay such exorbitant prices.if you can't pay, forget about it and continue writing jamb.
PoliticsRe: Who The Heck Is As Capable As Obasanjo? by Omolulu(m): 5:04pm On Jan 02, 2007
Obasanjo has laid good foundation for Nigeria, however no man has a monopoly of leadership.everything has an origin,so do people.Anyone can rule this country as long as his primary objective is to take us a step further. The Nigerian state respects people who are ready to make the country progress and respect the apparatus of the state. We are tired of all types of dictatorships: military, civilian and party dictatorship.
Foreign AffairsRe: Saddam Hussein Is Dead by Omolulu(m): 4:43pm On Jan 02, 2007
It's ironic how people can overnight begin to feel pity for one who put sorrow on the faces of many iraqi citizens. No one has mentioned the 5000 kurds he mercilessly gassed with chemical weapons in 1988.yet some people are mourning over he who ended the life of so many people. The americans have made many mistakes but facilitating the execution of sadaam was not one of them.At least the world has gotten rid of one threat to world peace.
PoliticsRe: Btw Yar'dua, Buhari, Orji kalu, Atiku. Who will you vote for? by Omolulu(m): 6:22pm On Jan 01, 2007
I think i'll rather opt for Atiku.i cant really say much about yar'dua because the impression i have of him is one given by a PDP that's autocratic in achieving it's aims.I'll grow onions on my palms before i vote for Uzor kalu.Nigeria stll needs money for reasonable development not for private businesses and mummy's use.Is it not this same buhari who overthrew democratic institutions in 1983,called for the imposition of sharia and was ruhtless in his employment of the death penalty amidst all entreaties{the drug case of certain Nigerian youths who suffered the death penalty amidst all pleas}.Hmmmm
Although Atiku is not as white as Nigerian white one thing i admire about him is his respect for other arms of government.this would reduce the tension and intimidation faced by members of the 2nd and 3rd arms of government.Besides he seems to have the enterpremeurial drive which would be of benefit to our country. grin
Foreign AffairsRe: Saddam Hussein Is Dead by Omolulu(m): 6:04pm On Jan 01, 2007
What's with the concern for hussein!Afterall he's killed so many people and many more would have died of unnatural causes if he was still the leader of iraq. Please let the evil dead fight their battles from the grave. wink
Foreign AffairsRe: Tehran- A Fresh Call For Isreal To Be Wiped Out Of The Map! by Omolulu(m): 3:55pm On Dec 30, 2006
Ahmedinejad has never ceased to amaze me.although i admire his outspoken nature and his courage in defending Iran's nuclear stance, the truth is that he can never succeed in wiping the Israeli state from the world map.To achieve such a task takes more than just nuclear development.Literacy and education levels in Iran is low,Economy is not strong and the Iranian state is not financially buoyant to persecute such a task.Besides no financial or state institution will be willing to fund Iran on a project that is unattainable.ahmedinejad should rather focus on the holistic development of Iran into a developed economy and a first world nation rather than climb unattainable heights.
Foreign AffairsRe: Saddam Hussein Is Dead by Omolulu(m): 3:43pm On Dec 30, 2006
Well, well, well. He who kills by the sword must die by the sword.a man resposible for the deaths of 5000 kurds shouldnt be expecting to live so long on earth. The long hand of retribution must catch up with him.Whether the american invasion on iraq is justifiable or not,the bitter truth is that he has joined those he happily killed in the world of the unknown tongue angry
Foreign AffairsRe: Israel vs Hezbollah/Lebanon by Omolulu(m): 9:11pm On Aug 25, 2006
It is obvious that the events transpiring between Israel and Lebanon is more than what meets the ordinary human eye.while the Israelis have political grievances with Lebanon and the Arab world based on political and regional problems, the Arab world as a whole have religious and cultural disagreements with the Israelis. This is why Ahmedinejad and the Arab world are clamoring for the total destruction of Israel. If not why would people be so passionate over the centuries for the destruction of a nation.
The Americans and the British have failed again in their roles as big brothers for peace. These countries under Bush and Blair have rather become stimulants for trouble(Afghanistan,Iraq,Iran). They have kept quiet and watched as Israel ended the hopes of people who have never been out of their villages, cities or countries by bombardment.
I however hope that tempers do not boil to the extent of a nuclear conflict between the powers that are only willing to test their Nuclear weapons on people rather than in the sea or desert. grin
Christianity EtcRe: Are Pastors Supposed To Be Celebrities? by Omolulu(m): 8:02pm On Aug 25, 2006
Well if pastors are to be celebrities it should be for the right reasons.Moses was a leader in Israel and was a celebrity in his own right. The prophets were associated with kings, performed miracles and as a result became celebrated among the people.Jesus was so popular with the Jews that at a point he became the number 1 threat to public safety in the books of Herod and Pilate.
If pastors are to be celebrities it should be for their works and not for burning church members like human waste.
SportsRe: Fc Barcelona Is The Club Of The Century. by Omolulu(m): 7:40pm On Aug 25, 2006
I'm surprised that a whole human being can wake up one morning,go to the computer and start such a topic.Such time should have been spent on assessing clubs that are greater than Barcelona:Real Madrid,Juve,AC Milan,Bayern Munich huh huh
EducationRe: Hnd Is Better Than Bsc by Omolulu(m): 6:21pm On Aug 25, 2006
Both the B.sc and the Hnd are good for whoever obtains them.As long as the bearer is able to defend his degree or diploma wherever he finds himself in,there is no problem.
Many B.sc holders cannot defend their degrees.this also applies to the Hnd holders. The quality of whatever work performed by either bearer is the determining factor.
