No-one wants an extra mouth to feed in these times, especially a mouth attached to medical bills and requiring 24 hour care. His family and friends will descend on her with all the Pastors and Imams in this Nigeria, armed with enough Emotional Blackmail so that she forgives and keeps him with her. By the time they are done with her, they will have her crying and pleading for him to forgive her for neglecting him, which is why he cheated. They will convince her that it is the will of God, that to send him out is to condemn her and her kids to an awful life and hellfire. All to avoid having her pass the buck to them. That's the Nigerian way |

Ishilove: Ahn ahn, why did he wait till after trad before realising he didn't love you?? Belle. See, Nigerian boys and girls grow up in a Nigerian Family, surrounded by Nigerian Society. Just imagine all what you have heard and seen about Marriage in Nigeria, what percentage was good? But whilst girls are taught to accept, manage and deal with the situation, 75% of boys are taught nothing positive. So the girls and boys grow up and when Adult, Marital and Parental responsibilities rear their heads, the boys usually go fleeing. Their flight usually coincides with "She's pregnant for me". I'm not bashing guys, it is a guy that explained this to me. He said no matter how much a Naija guy claims to love a girl, once she is pregnant and they have not wedded fully, the guy goes into panic mode. Because he has not spent his life preparing for Marriage, he spent it preparing for How to Make Money, Buy Car, Build House in His Village, etc. My friend did the same thing to his wife. My hubby would do the same and judging by so many tales on NL, so would 75% of Naija boys. I haven't met a single one of the other 25%, you know, the "my bf heard I was pregnant, stepped up to the plate instead of panicking and taking out his fear on me and fully supported me till this moment as my husband". I'm really hoping to meet one soon. |

How can DELSUTH, a govt Teaching Hospital, be more expensive than Vicah Clinic (which you mentioned earlier), that is private? Let us check and see first. |

Acidosis: DELSU teaching hospital is at Oghara, not Abraka. Still not far from Warri. Max 30-40 mins, even better. Unless DELSUTH is on strike but let me confirm. |

OlawunmiPraise, why haven't you tried DELSUTH? Abraka is not far from Warri and it will be cheaper there as it is a Teaching Hospital. Plus there are consultants and surgeons. They won't let Resident Drs do the surgery by themselves. Abraka is 1 hr 15 mins max from you. I know GH Ekpan is one-kain but DELSU is better. Or Federal Medical Centre, Asaba? Farther off but they're really good and it won't cost N150,000. |

Remember that article about drugs running out due to lack of forex? Just went to two different Healthplus Pharmacies to fill out a prescription and not only could they not fill it, they had empty shelves with no medicines. They aren't sure when they will get imported meds. What they had had quadrupled in price. If you have anyone coming into the country this December, ask if they can bring in your drugs for your family. |

Tojued: Good morning everyone. Let's pray (it's Saturday morning already)
Father thank you.
Thank you for the life of everyone who has ever and will ever be a part of this thread. Thank you for all our families. Thank you that we have deemed it fit to officially invite you into our thread every Saturday.
Be glorified in who you are, mighty God.
We pray that our Saturday prayers will just be the first step of us all living to glorify you. That our faith will transcend this page, and we will truly live lives which honour you. That you be God in all we do.
Dear God, I lift us all into your mighty hands. I ask for your continued blessing on us.
Even as you've given us our los, please provide for us especially in wisdom so we can provide for them.
That whatever venture we and our spouses set our hands on will be blessed.
That you bless us and all our families with fullness of health and length of days.
We ask that on this thread, there will always be rejoicing. Please father, spare us any mourning. We use all our babies who were ill recently as a point of contact, thank you God for healing them.
We beg you for wisdom and common sense. Please keep using each and everyone of us as mouthpieces to help our fellow parents who need our advice. Also prompt us to realise when something is beyond our knowledge and experience.
We specially ask you to bless all those who are waiting on you for children. My father, please fill their quiver with arrows. We all know that children are a gift from you and you alone.
Please bless the land we live in, especially Nigeria. We pray for our country because you've told us that is where we'll find our peace. We declare that Nigeria will be better for our children.
Thank you God, for you are God and there's none like you.
We pray in the name of Jesus Christ.
(Amin, Amin, Amin... Oruko Jesu Amin)
Shalom. Amen. |

And you are there, trying to be emotionally manipulative to my mum, playacting Confraternity of Christian Mothers when your plan backfires?? Nigeria can run a sane person mad. If they had taken that boy to the station, 5 days later he would be back on the street. I don't support Jungle Justice, but I understand where it is coming from. By the 3rd dose of d sugar n palm oil, she let out the phlegm like vomit. Very plenty. Now its stuffed nose The cough has gone. Or should i say reduced. But her nose. I cant see mucor but she has difficulty breathing. She is even using her mouth.
No one has cough or cattarh at home... dunno how it came about. Please help with how i can decongest her nostrils so she can even suck n sleep well. Can you use a bulb or gentle, very gentle mouth suction? I'm still not sure about Eucalyptus oil used neat. There is a baby balm like Rubb, but it was N1200 months ago, so it has probably gone up in price. I'd be scared of using hot water to steam under a towel. But if you can do a big bucket of very hot water and sit in a small bathroom, seal all exits, the steam should be enough and it won't be too close to her and you can suction easier. Or maybe Saline drops? Try the search, people have described what they used for newborns. |

Tojued: 1a. List the types of water Pure water Bottled water Dispenser water Boiled water Tap/water board water Rain water Well water Meruwa water
1b. Define mai ruwa water Mai ruwa water is thé water (ruwa) that is fetched by the water man (mai ruwa).
He fetches plenty water from a place we don't know into plenty jericans which he then pushes about from place to place for people to buy.
Please you people should score me! Hmm, you sound like someone that used to set Common Entrance questions. And I have bad memories about that exam, there were so many questions I couldn't answer...I don't think we should be friends anymore Comtem2011, mehnnn see how Jesus did it for you o! Water from unknown source with cup shared by several people. Abeg I will thank God on your behalf. This Tojued's answer reminds me of those Questions: " X walks 5km in one direction in 45 mins, Y walks in another direction 8.3km in 34.5mins, calculate blah blah". Gerrard59: Which is why I say most times, that Asians (Japan, South Korea, Singapore, China) are more organised than Westerners.
About the Jamb-like exam, I will say it's cultural to a great extent. The Asians believe how one performs academically prognosticate one's future. The economic history of most modern day Asian nations is riddled with investments in QUALITY education and the Asian Tiger moms. Today where are they?
On the other hand, Africa has similar culture, but undevelopment and bad governance has made academics look unprofitable and undesirable to most young folks. People do say (even on Nairaland), why become an engineer who might become unemployed or underemployed when Davido, Pantoranking and Wizkid are making it big (no disrespect intended) without the academics?
But the South Koreans took it far when compared to the Japanese, Chinese, Taiwanese and my favorite Singaporeans. Because of the excessive pressure, Singapore did some changes to her PLSE (our common entrance examination) when students were reported to be committing suicides if they fail even by a mark. But the culture still remains (Tiger Moms).
I will say that Africa has a lot to learn from Asian nations.. Nigeria is a weird place. We don't really like people knowing too much. Infact, too much education is seen as a hindrance most times here. It is crazy but I don't know any other country where an average doctor and nurse cannot afford to pay their bills without working 2 or more jobs whilst even PA to a Commissioner is balling. How's your sister? Please let her start her Athletics, remember, opportunities... |
