I'm so sorry if I said anything that offended you. But that won't change my stance one bit. I used to be given the impression that Jonathan is clueless and isn't in charge. But the current allegation by the opposition that Jonathan is wielding the Army for his personal gains shows he isn't clueless after all. Which means our opposition, yourself inclusive, are contradicting themselves.
Contradicting? cheesy You make me laugh.

If anything, this move is a confirmation that he is the Achibong of cluesslesness.

What's more cowardly than using apparent lies that a 5year old can discern from afar and not having the temerity to carry out such yourself? Instead he is using a 3rd party to push such personal interests when you are the C in C.

I don't expect you to understand. It runs in the "circle".

I am fully in support of this election postponement, because the inec is not ready. many people are yet to receive there permanent voters.
Even if you give Nigerians hundreds of years. Most won't go and collect the PVC. You can't have 100 percent PVC collection rate.

Highest you can get is maybe 70 to 75% rate. And INEC has acheieved almost 70 percent.

Go to the numerous NIMC Offices and see the millions of National identity cards that have been available as far back as 2008 still laying uncollected. So what does that tell you?

Forget all these pvc excuse, we know the ulterior motives behind such postponement.

So Jonathan isn't clueless after all. His ability to wield the Army shows he's in control, he's in charge.
I am quite surprised and appalled that you are a mod, Although that position doesn't guarantee one posses common sense .

So truncating due process by the use of the Armed Forces in cunny and silly ways for personal gains instead of national unity and progress is what you call "in charge"?

What village does your type crawl out from?

PoliticsRe: Sambo Replies Soludo, Opposition; "Only 100,000 Barels Stolen Daily"- Sambo by onegig(m): 11:41am On Feb 04, 2015
Let's even assume it is just 100,000 barrels.

That's 100,000 ×$54 (price per barrel) =5.4 million dollars lost daily.

Multiply by 365 days

365 × 5.4 million dollars= 1 971 000 000 (1.9 Billion dollars yearly)

That's roughly 2 Billion dollars yearly.

Multiply by Current exchange rate of 195.

You would have around 400 billion dollars yearly.

Let us put things into perspective more.

That's the total full year budget of Osun and most states for 8 straight years.

If that is curbed and thrown at our educational sector alone we would have 1000 percent turn around.

I give up on Nigeria.

Irony of life. I admire the woman's courage.

It is a strong person who would do what she did. I would not do it. My father's jailer could be my sworn enemy; especially if I knew that my father didn't deserve such fate.
True..

Her narrative reveals a mind that's deep and broad. A heart that's well above bitterness and vengefulness despite her dad's ordeal and it's effects on her family.

Such capacity for forgiveness and understanding is probably rooted in godliness and wisdom that we might not be able to comprehend. Putting your country above personal consideration
IslamRe: An Appeal To Arabic And IRS Teachers In Our Children's Schools by onegig(m):
What's the aim of the beating?

To inflict pain or make them learn?

I like when things are based on facts. A look at most Muslim kids who grew up has shown that the beating received at the various madrasas did nothing to reinforce their beliefs or knowledge but just fuelled their quest for freedom from such harrowing experience.

No wonder most who went to the so called Ile Kewus returned back to secular, nonchalant and carefree lifestyles after they attained freedom or came off age, forgetting whatever they were taught.

Examples abound around us. To make a known example is 9ice the Hip hop singer.

There are some better punitive measures you use in correcting kids and not outright caning. In most cases, such canning are barbaric and give these students life long scars. You see them using horse whips with 8 mouths and stuff.

Lets call a spade a spade. Most madrasas and alfas are just torture weapons and not in any way impacting any knowledge. I have once thought and I have attended Madrasas in the past. The only fond memories I have is that of a Mallam who was firm but never used the cane and we all loved him and always made extra efforts to learn what he was teaching us back then. No one is advocating spearing the rod but don't use the rod so arbitrarily like our Alfas do. Ile kewus are now synonymous with caning, torture and horror stories and not centres for education.

Onpe

u people should go and sit down I beg.

He jailed my father, he sentence my brother, bla bla bla.

when u do the crime then u do the time, simple math.

Keep digging, he will still win.

GMB for president.
You should endeavour to read the post slowly.

Her father was released after six months -although a long time to be under incarceration for a crime you never commited. He was innocent but wrongly detained but he is currently a member of the advisory board of APC and she clearly stated she holds no grudge against his candidacy. She cares more about the future of the country than past misdeeds.

All these people coming out to state their reasons and pledge support for Buhari aren't after making a name or seeking attention but have come out to clear the air after the Incumbent PDP are using their woes to score cheap political points. Don't tell me you didn't hear about the ignominious campaign of calumny and not documentary as wiedly tagged on AIT.
PoliticsHow My Father’s Jailer Can Offer Nigeria A Fresh Start. by onegig(op): 6:09pm On Feb 01, 2015
This is Lola Shoneyin. Google will tell you all about her. But one thing I can tell you about her here and now is that she is the face of true and uncommon patriotism. I know there may be many like her.

The truth about someone character can truly be evaluated by their stand even when they ought to be biased and petty. But at a time when people are demonising Buhari because of what he did as a military Head of State 30 years ago (I.e the documentary) someone who felt the pains of Buhari's rule 30 years ago stands up for him as one who can do the job.

Lola Shoneyin is a personification of how to look at the bigger picture when faced with difficult choices.

Like the Shoneyins, like the Ajasins. Even Seun Kuti admits GMB is the more rational choice of the two major candidates, and that tells a story. About the man GMB and his mission, and about the ability of humans to rise above pain and hurt to do the right thing.
Enjoy.

Possibly the worst year of my life was 1984. I was 10 years old and blissfully unaware of the changing face of Nigeria’s political landscape. And a rather unyielding face it was – that of Muhammadu Buhari who had recently overthrown Shehu Shagari, a democratically elected president. For Buhari, this was
a necessary coup d’etat because Nigeria was being overrun by corrupt politicians. However, his regime would have a devastating impact on my family’s fortunes.

For the first time, at the close of the school term in Edinburgh, my father wasn’t there to pick us up. My older brother, aged 15, took charge and we made our way to Heathrow. Touching down in Nigeria, it was my mother who met us at the airport. She didn’t
smile, perhaps couldn’t; her mouth was turned down at the corners like she was being flattened by existence. Something was wrong, clearly. I waited until we were settled in the car and piped up: “Where’s Daddy?” Without turning to glance at me, my mother
answered: “He’s in jail.”

She always had an aversion to bullshit but even, for her, that was pretty cold. For the rest of the journey, I thought about my Daddy who returned the cash to the phone company when our account was credited with thousands of naira; Daddy who, born into abject poverty, personified what it meant to work really hard and make your own dreams come true, in a hopefully new meritocratic Nigeria

On getting home, one of my older brothers explained that Buhari’s deputy, the uncompromising, much- feared Colonel Tunde Idiagbon, had commanded that all government contractors in Ogun state had received a notice to appear before a special committee. My dad honoured the invitation and presented all the papers to show that it was in fact the government that owed his company money. He was given two options: to pay a large amount (that no one quite understood how they arrived at) or go to jail.

On principle, my dad said he wasn’t going to pay money that he didn’t owe. He was not alone. I have a group of friends with whom I am forever bound by this shared ordeal of seeing our fathers treated like criminals. And as it was for many, this period signified the beginning of financial ruin. My father spent six months in jail and came out a different man. For one, he started clapping at our solemn family devotion in the mornings, something we never did.

He explained that that was what they did in prison. He was never a big talker but seeing his work at adjusting to normal life was painful for everyone around him. Before his release, the two giant crushers and all the machinery and equipment that belonged to his civil engineering firm were liquidated. As children, our lives changed too. We were placed in state schools and said goodbye to our privileged lifestyles.

My dad is 87 now and he’s an active member of the local advisory board of the All Progressive party, the opposition party that has recently adopted Buhari as the presidential flag-bearer, 30 years after his first outing as a military head of state.

Like many Nigerians, my father was saddened when he heard
President Goodluck Jonathan claim that “stealing is not corruption”.

With 24% unemployment, there are limited opportunities for young people, making them easy fodder for militants in the southernmost parts of the country and dreaded religious fundamentalists in the north.

People clamour for leadership. For the last three weeks, I have been travelling with the presidential campaign team and I have had the opportunity to listen to people and interview them. I have also had a personal need to understand this man Buhari who has run for the highest office a record three times. At the beginning, I admit I had doubts and misgivings. It’s hard not to when you’ve been stung before. But after several conversations with him, I have come to understand what the mass hysteria is all about and why Nigerians would vote for this soft-spoken but highly principled 72-year-old.

It’s quite simple and, having worked as a schoolteacher for years, I can use a school setting in my analogy. Kids like a teacher to whom they can give the runaround but when it’s crunch time, they favour an environment where the teacher is firm, one where clear boundaries have been set. Having a president who is widely described as “clueless” may have seemed to many like an opportunity, but the goodwill that Jonathan enjoyed in 2011 has been frittered away.

These days, governors in the opposition parties are starved of funds and harassed when they don’t do the bidding of a first lady who campaigns for her personal candidates. Many Nigerians believe that it is time to return to one of the few faces of anti-corruption in Nigeria’s political history. Even my wrongly- imprisoned Dad would recognise that Buhari’s ambition was to stem corruption.

Unlike many Nigerian past presidents, Major-General
Buhari does not have a huge mansion. You won’t hear about him owning a bank or sitting on the board of banks. Neither does he own expansive farmland. In fact, he wrote to the minister of finance requesting that he only receive 10% of the allowance that all pastpresidents receive on a monthly basis.

Overwhelmingly, his lack of greed and personal venality means people trust him. Within a democratic dispensation, whatever excesses Buhari’s singlemindedness at tackling corruption might have shown 30 years ago can and will be curbed.

He has surrounded himself with a brilliant, savvy team of young Nigerians and I much enjoy the passion with which he talks about his three main priorities: unemployment, insecurity and education. For some Nigerians, he might not be an ideal candidate but for many more, people want anything but Jonathan.

And even better it’s someone that they feel they can believe in.

OP....You gave too little information.

Location, type of job, distance of the house to your respective work places.

Other posters saying it's not possible need to recognise that not all places in Nigeria are that expensive. You can live comfortably with 30k a month in most places in Nigeria as long as it is not Lagos, Port Harcourt, Delta, Onithsa, Calabar or Abuja where cost of living is extremely high.

You still have places where you only spend 100 naira max to and fro as transport fare daily.

Also you need to consider most average Nigerian workers live on loans and cooperatives with small repayments spread over years. He may not be taking the chunk of the money from his salary. 120k may look much but as long as it's caters for their needs. I won't say it's overdoing it.

But op. what do you need a 3 bedroom flat for when you are just married? You would be wasting 2 whole rooms for more than a year.

What happened to mini sized 2 bedroom flat incase of visitors or a big sized self contain?

If you read my post properly, I was talking a about SELF AWARE machine there, fyi that's what AI development is gunning to achieve which is machine that is CONSCIOUS of its existence, a machine that constantly adapt to new variables through learning and without human input or interference. That's the ultimate AI. A machine with a mind.

Such machine may seem far fetched to you now, same way heavier than air flight was to people sometime ago.
Dismissing it as fuzzy logic? time will tell.
Machine can be aware of its environment but self awareness and intuition is a different ball game. The future of AI is still far off. Air flight was something mehanical and comprehensible. People just limited their hearts back then. We all had physical evidence of what flight can be like through birds and other things. But for AI, It has to deal with intuition, something abstract.

I can assure. Someone has to always write the program that is responsible for the automation.. There is always human involvement somewhere.

Although I understand your fears and concerns and this thread Is an eye opener but we are still far off and it would take a lot more to accomplish a situation where AIs are self aware.

Gates knows exactly what he's talking about and I don't thinks his fears are unfounded. AI is a very dangerous path we shouldn't jump into blindly. A self aware machine is a risk, it may take centuries but a day will come when they will be too advanced for us to manage. Just one unit can turn rogue and corrupt others.
No one should dismiss movies such as iRobot and Skynet as mere science fiction. Those movies are science prophecies telling us what to come should we do some things blindly.
Abeg. AI is just going to be AI. Forget all those movies. And your closing paragraph even sums it up. Do something blindly? Like program a robot to go to war?

I would start believing they would take over the world and collonize us when computers starts writing their own programs without any PROMPT and inserting comments for documentation.

That it can mimick humans does not mean it has it's own intuition. That's a fundamental difference between humans and robot. Every robot created has a specified intention for its creation abd because of this. It puts a limitation to what it can do and think of. It may malfunction and cause unintended destructions due to errors or bugs but that it would deliberately out of its own accord overtake humans , dominate us and colonize us is not only far fetched but preposterous.

Fuzzy logic and stuff doesn't work that way.

He only has 4 wives of which 1 died a decade ago. Even though SA doesn't represent what the religion truly says but the picture here is that of a conference and not those of his wives.

The women attended a National Dialogue forum on "society and health services" in Najran on April 8-10, 2014.

Al-Watan says the king was "keen to emphasise the role of women and their active participation in the development process". Those taking part in the forum received copies of the photo when they returned home. Though the forum itself was not of much consequence, the picture is remarkable. Viewed in the context of the ongoing debate about gender mixing in Saudi Arabia, it can be interpreted as a sign that the king is trying to nudge the country in a more liberal direction.

1. A crush is just a temporary adoration for someone.
A crush maybe temporal but the thoughts behind it maybe for something long lasting.

2. What exactly is infatuation?

To the best of my thoughts. It is like a not so real attraction to someone or something because of the benefits or expected benefits one tend to gain from such association which may be caused by a yarning for such things or the absence of the source you get those feelings from in the past. Maybe the absence of lover or care or attention from your partner or ex.

3. What is the difference?

The explanation above explains both. Find the differential.

4. If having a crush is temporary while do people try has
much to get the attention of their so called crush when
the feeling is just for a short while?

Because they wanna make it permanent. From getting their attention, to getting what you want.
