IslamRe: Don't You Think This Section Is Developing A Notoriety For Intolerance? by onegig(m): 8:27am On Dec 04, 2013
And mind you i won't be responding here again. Lets live and let others live. Respect peoples choice of religion and beliefs. If you want to convert them . There are more subtle ways of doing it. Do unto others what you want them to do to you. Its that simple.

All these are what differentiates as logical beings from the so called extremists and
Radicals. Good luck.

Logicbwoy: Exhibit a of an intolerant mind.

atheism = ridiculing Islam.

Go and check out my threads on my profile and you will find that they contain logical and well thought out issues on Islam. Sometimes, I criticize Islam, sometimes I defend the west, sometimes I defend atheismor even Christianity....,.

Just admit that you don't want to see any criticism of Islam. We know what intolerance some of you like.

My profile is one click away for you to differentiate between criticism that is well thought out and ridicule
Guy, you are so full of yourself you know.

Is peddling falsehood about things you don't understand; passing it on as facts and gospel truth to the populace what you call criticism?

Someone who's criticizing comes to town with a great understanding of what his subject is and is laden with facts not heresays. Also he bows to voice of reason when he is schooled about what he lacks knowledge about not going on a merry go round march and talking about irrelevanties when "caught".

Logicbwoy: Harbiola and vedaxcool are examples of Muslims that attack Christians.

furthermore, most Muslims quarantine themselves to this section but then they want front page. You will find that Christians mostly do not come here unless it is a front page material. Most do not see why you guys deserve the front page.
Can you please reread what you just wrote?

So because some people "feel" gives them the audacity and excuse to run rampage when such threads hit fp? What happened to abstaining from commenting if you really want to preach your tolerance.

Its your actions and not your words that tells whether you guys are tolerant or not and i must say judging by the way you guys have been behaving on this forum... You guys are very immature, intolerant, crass, selfish and condescending.

You can just imagine what he just said. Muslim threads should not hit fp because christains dont want it there. Ain't that highlight of an intolerant group?

Quarantine? You don't tell someone where to visit or what to do on a public forum. Why would they visit your religion sections and argue endlessly with you when you have nothing new to offer. The truth is most muslims on this forum have come to understand we are in a multi religious setting and have learnt to let others live by what they believe and won't go on opening stupid and degrading threads about what is or what is not; which is a Sign of religious maturity.

tunnex190: Gurus in the house kindly help a brother out. My laptop just started acting up this afternoon when the screen went blank. Immediately, the CapLock light and the HDD indicator light stopped blinking. So, i quickly checked online to see how I can fix that so as to get the system back to its normal condition. The tips i got was to: Unplug the power plug, Remove the battery, then press and hold the power on button for 30-60 seconds...i did just that and fortunately, it came on and booted the windows but after a couple minutes, the screen went blank again. So i repeated this method for a couple of time and it is still the same. Kindly, help me out. I have already allowed the system to cool off and did follow the steps again and it is still the same blank screen after: may go blank even before it loads or boot the windows.
any other symptoms? Like over heating.

Just got this from an fb page.

Did you notice the countenance of the man we all call Igodomigodo on that faithful day? It was very obvious he DID not like what happened.
Igodomigodo's demeanor
in that video was dull, like if he had a chance, he'll rather not have that happen. And it's certain he made the governor realise it afterwards and coupled with what the governor confessed to
the woman of his daughters
fighting him on her behalf, it just shows you can never go too wrong by virtue of the quality of the people you surround yourself with and that's what we want our President to realise, he has too many demons around him such that no matter good he intends if he truly intends good, it will never come out good.

Zikdik: I wouldn't know about that. But judging everyone else by the character of a select few is not exactly smart.
At least, for the sake of the section.
Want answers.

On friday there would be threads from this section on the frontpage look at the responses of most people who call themselves tolerant. Then wait till sunday and see threads from the christain section and see if any muslim post irrelevant things.

ifyalways: cry
I got an email late last night from the OP and the contents was that the VC asked him to go meet the Registrar this morning as its the registrar that will decide their fate.

I called the OP now to find out how the meeting went and he said his (and other 400 level students) appeal was not considered. Him and other 400 level students now have to defer their studies till next session ie 2014/2015.

Very sad. I feel really bad for the OP. I have not transferred the funds to the OP so if any of the donors want a refund, send me an email otherwise, the funds will be kept for the OP for resumption next year. I'm open for any other suggestions though.
Very sad news. Come to think of it what would it cost the school to just open a portal link? I just got to understand now that black people are the wickediest people in the whole world. So these guys have to waste another year on such a simple issue? Damn! Don't they consider the moral and physical implications of their actions on these students?
Chai..'seriously am angry at this bleeped up country.

Ok here's a little tweak that might work. Get an handkerchief.. Open the tray and drag back the lens holder back to the extreme . Also carefully rub the lens screen as if you cleaning out dust. Close the tray and insert the cd back.

CultureRe: The Role Of Culture In Creating A Better Future: The ‘omoluabi’ Concept by onegig(m):
Prodam.. All the societal ills we face now were present back then it was not as pronounced and widely known as we have it now. Give for example the homo stuff.. .people have been practising that in the past. Its not lack of culture its just the way things are.

And please we are not getting civilised we are just moving from one phase of development to another. Don't tell me people of old were not that civilised e.g Egypt, Nok etc. Isn't it ironic that it was even in these places that they dressed unclad.

Let me give you a practical example. Search for Pa ogunde's stage performance photos and see how the girls bared there bosoms. Also there are still people in some culture who walk around bare chested in the northern part of Nigeria. Ain't that part of the culture you say we should return to?

Not that i support all these bad things but lets look at things from an objective view we would see that lack of culture is not the MAIN causes of these acts we so much detest.
CultureRe: The Role Of Culture In Creating A Better Future: The ‘omoluabi’ Concept by onegig(m):
Damn.. I edited the first response and submitted it. But network just bleeped up.

I agree with you on the individualism and capitalism aspect but are we sure the other alternatives we have also don't pose same problems. I know most people put the blame of eroding cultures on globalisation but i beg to differ here. Change is constant and culture is not immune to it. It is however up to a community to determine what parts of their culture they want to leave out whether good or bad.

Also. The broad idea of cultural ways as practiced time memorial does not protect what you might call morality in many aspects it just guarded the individual from his own personal agenda in lieu of a group or communal agenda. We know what transpired during those ancient civilization of ours when culture was enshrined na.<note here* culture defined as a way of life of a group of people.> Oppression by the leaders or king, waton destruction occasioned by wars fought on the premise of collective good which sacrificed the individuality of a person as he had to conform to community dictates to go to wars and stuff even if it went against his moral thinking. Also please note the majority are also not always right.

Everyone's culture should be respected i agree but what about the bad aspect of a culture? Also you said laws of the land...laws of the land that says a woman must drink from the water used to wash her dead
Husband's body just to prove her innocence or one which says multiple birth or twins are evil and must be killed?

I do agree that the want of money is disastrous. Everyone believes that even proponents of individualism
CultureRe: The Role Of Culture In Creating A Better Future: The ‘omoluabi’ Concept by onegig(m):
prodam: The world has turned into something else.
Everything is upside down. Nudity is celebrated, chastity is now an object of mockery. Only a few live by core moral values or even good social ethics.

We really need to go back to the basis, and retrace our advancement from one generation to another
Phd.. But you know that morality and ethics is subjective. What might be moral to me might be amoral to you.
The truth is we live in a world where there would never be a convergence of rules on morality.

You cited culture as a benchmark. Yes culture recognises an individual as a representation of a society or community and it enforces rules of ethics or morals on that individual to conform to the societal standards set by the community. However, we now live in a world of individuality where "freedom" of an individual superimpose that of his immediate environment. Until we determine the limits of rights of an individual thats when we could return to those era you have been talking about. But the critical question is who determines the limit of an individuals freedom? Is it the corrupt and myopic elders of our community, the religious leaders who are more interested in their pockets, the youths with their over bulging energy or who please?

Bottomline is we could just forget culture and community as Individuality is the reigning and buzz word now and is the main determinant of peoples actions and inactions.

FamilyRe: What If Spouses Demand Less From Each Other? by onegig(m):
MMotimo: Today, I think people overthink this idea of marriage tooibuch, sometimes it sounds like heading to battle. Marriage is a coupling of friends, not enemies and not meant for people that can barely tolerate each other. Maybe I am just an oldfashioned romantic but I believe in love and I believe it covers up a lot of things.

I will talk about your cooking example since I can provide first hand account - look at a marriage as "what can/does he/she do?" Not "what does he/she not do?"

My husband cannot cook save for basic boil rice, egg but he can eat cereal+milk, bread+ stew, sausage rolls, pancakes, sandwich, cookies+hot chocolate, etc as a meal anytime of the day. He has no rules around "I must eat so and so at this time." Our kids have been brought up that way too. I cook or we go to a restaurant, buy takeout, fry eggs, etc even for dinner. As long as no one is starving. There is always food in the house in different forms, doesn't have to be poundo + bushmeat. Some men are simply not deep into this food thingy

Now, this person that cannot cook, cannot stand dirt/untidiness which means if anybody is wasting time with cleaning, he will happily do it himself without asking anybody. If you don't clear up the laundry hamper quickly enough, he will put all the clothes in the washer himself, dry them and damn your whining about mixing up colors. He will clear the kitchen sink faster than you can say " it is so and o child's turn to do it." He helps in the kitchen with the most basic tasks and I could go on and on.

He cannot wash a car to my satisfaction, the reason why I do all the car washing myself at the self serve car wash. Which means I wear jeans and rubber boots and wash by myself.

Marriage is work but it is not labor, take your time to know who compliments you.

Me that cannot guarantee I will have "real food" at all times, when it is time for him to eat, unless I'm asleep or out of the house, I dish his food myself, set the table for him, invite him to eat and stay with him till he is done. I treat him like a king and he treats me like a queen, works for us.
You couldn't have said it better. I used to wonder where all these people shouting food is the way to a man's heart get their idea from. Maybe in the past but as of now who is cooking should be the least of things causing disagreements.

Most guys are not really fixed on food. Me as an example don't have any fav. food or fixation that you must cook this or that. I just eat anything i feel is right and at anytime it is available. I understand the op's use of the example to pass her message across but food should be the last thing causing marital problems Abeg.

@topic. I guess going into a marriage with the mindset of "what would i offer" not "what i tend to get" or "what i am entitled to" also helps. If everyone has this mindset to compromise would be much easier because you would always be pro -relationship and not the selfish type. I just believe two people who are getting married should have atleast covered most areas and understand the essence of compromise.

Typical of a Nigerian company. No beta testing or anything. They just move you without even finishing work. Did you design a platform for yourself or your clients and customers . Atleast get people to extensively beta run it or allow users to beta run and give you feedback on where lapses or bugs are.

tbaba1234: Ok, *clears throat

Nagging- I can't stand it but some women can't do without it. Men can be frustrating but nagging makes everything worse.

So how do you deal with a nagging spouse?

If someone nags at me, I will probably just change the frequency so there is a good chance, I heard nothing. When I was younger, I used to think , i'd just leave the home for her until she calms down. Now, I am much better at shutting out what I don't want to hear.

A nagging woman will deliberately say what she knows will make you angry so you have to careful not to join her shouting match.
Yours is better. I dislike being reminded about things twice or more. Just tell me something and i would work on it. If you have not seen results its not like i have forgotten but no resources or there's impediment preventing me from achieving it. You reminding would amount to like you saying am deaf and can't comprehend things once its said until its repeated.

Bad of me you would say but am working on it. Learning to be more tolerant of such and trying to communicate better about outstanding issues.

depends on use. Batteries are electronic consumables you can't say how long they would last except if you are talking about use time per full charge then i guess for that price 3 to 4 hours max if you are just using simple applications and 2hours if it is movies you watching.

lymelyte: I recently but a new hp laptop ( window cool.Sometimes when I switched on and try to browse it restart and display ur pc is collecting some error information and your this issue makes your pc to restart.
Then it displays if ii want more information I should check our for DPC_WATCHDOG _ VIOLATION..PLS HELP
Is it brand new or fairly used?

The error is same as windows blue screen of death and is mostly likely caused by conflicting hardwares or an outdated driver for one of your hardware components. For example, if your sound card driver does not support Windows 8, simply plugging in a set of headphones could produce a DPC Watchdog Violation error. While not as common, software installations that affect your system software could also lead to DPC Watchdog Violations and the corresponding blue screen of death.

Update your network drivers if it however doesn't work. beep me that's if you are in lag.
