Negro_Ntns:The first two bolded are not even related to my post. WTF! I only stated my opinion about what I think the Mid-west would do (for themselves, not by joining Biafra) should a war break out. BTW it is my personal opinion that some of the greatest Igbo proponents of Biafra are in the Mid-West. That is a fact from which no one can ever escape; but that is for another topic. All I was saying is that Mid-west would be foolish to count on Yoruba for military or other forms of assistance if war were to break out in Nigeria. Heck everybody would be busy fighting for himself, and Yoruba would be busy with Hausa/Fulani who would find them easy pickings, for access to the sea via Lagos port. ![]() @Last bolded, why are you even obsessing over my new title? ![]() Does it change anything? ![]() |
DeeMain:You seem to be new here (politics section), well, let me be concise; HELL WILL FREEZE OVER FIRST before the bolded happens in Nigeria. If I were to fathom a guess, I would say that the Core North may support it (about 30%), the middle belt (about 40%), the mid-west (about 50%), Yoruba (about 5%), East (about 98%). These are just my rough guess, going by opinions of Nigerians on this forum. IMHO, that is why there can never be peace in Nigeria. |
What I find laughable is this attempt to make Israel seem like an internationally ambitious rogue state. ![]() I reject that in the strongest possible terms because history is there to guide us. What is Israel's ONLY goal? Answer: To be allowed to exist. Simple. I (as a child of Biafra), can FULLY understand that. Throughout Israel's history, so far, she has battled enemies who swear that she must not exist. How can somebody come here to tell us that Israel has some sinister agenda in Africa? Let me remind you guys that Israel supported Biafra, when majority of nations of the world turned their backs on us. What could they have wanted to gain then by supporting a losing side of the war? Wasn't Biafra's tenuous situation during the war clearly evident to all, which made some countries jump ship on Biafra, yet Israel stuck with us till the bitter end? The only rational explanation for that is PRINCIPLE: they shared our dreams, hopes and values. All I know is that when Biafra was forced back into Nigeria, Israel followed us back in. Today Israel is a friend of Nigeria. But if there should arise again a situation leading to a war, there is a STRONG chance that Israel would support Biafra again. QED. ![]() |
Thank you Israel. But we will need your military help very soon. ![]() |
Yakasai and core northern crew has a looooooooooooooooooooooooooooong wait too. And it will go to Igbo before them. ![]() |
mikeansy:hahaha! ![]() |
ndu_chucks:@ndu_chucks, The commander in chief is standing on borrowed legs, you of all people should know that. He needs his own legs. Now, I have to admit that growing your own legs needs solid balls. The onus is on the President to grow some too if he doesn't have any. |
houvest:My main fear is the second bolded. BTW thanks houvest! You are perhaps the most intuitive and consummate poster on Nairaland. I haven't had the opportunity to tell you that. ![]() |
Nadanbata:Yes o, I can't wait. ![]() |
ocelot2006:I wonder whether some of you fellow southerners even understand what the current crisis is all about. Why are we in this round of bombings by Boko Haram, and why are ALL Northern leaders maintaining a deafening silence, as hundreds and thousands of Nigerians (mainly non-Hausa/Fulani) are butchered daily, either through bombing, or "fulani herdsmen" massacres. ![]() Isn't this bombing because Jonathan (a minority southerner) was voted into office, and some Northern leaders threatened violence if he was "rigged in"? You talk as if Nigeria is some European country with solid constitution and agreement about nationhood. ![]() Dude, BH wants total islamisation of Nigeria, and Northern leaders are keeping silent. Why do you think that is the case? Why is Jonathan completely powerless inspite of being the "commander in chief"? ![]() Until some of you start telling yourselves the truth, Nigeria may soon go into an all out war. I'm sure some of you would still be looking for some crazy pie in the sky. ![]() |
T8ksy:Personally, I don't think that any serious Easterner, mid-westerner or even middle belter, is looking westwards for anything. We are occupied with our own plans. The time for talk would soon be over. ![]() Whatever strength you possess will be tested against Hausa/Fulani/Kanuri army. They need that Lagos port. Nuff said. |
LeoMax:With all due respect, these are what we have been doing since 1967. These "states" are part of the problem, and even Gowon is regretting creating them. These states defeat our ability to solve our problems. I personally would stop recognizing them soon. ![]() |
Beaf:The bolded is the key word. The situation is not hopeless though, thanks to a new period of enlightenment in the middlebelt, East and Midwest. With our resources in our hands, we don't need anybody else to win the next war. |
Obiagu1:The bolded is the biggest question of the century. In fact, it needs SERIOUS research by FREE journalists in Nigeria ,because majority of Nigerian journalists are seriously compromised. |
chima12: ![]() |
EzeUche:I believe you should care HOW, because you are Igbo. The last time, someone tried to fix Nigeria (without consulting us of course), he failed and thousands of Igbo were killed. When Ojukwu declared Biafra after due consultations, some of our people still worked FULL TIME with these same Northerners to even be mapping Ojukwu's location, and giving bombing co-ordinates to the same Northern officers against Ojukwu's locations. We the youths of Eastern Nigeria cannot afford to be unconcerned as things unfold. Let us bear that in mind. |
Relax101:If that case ever materializes, that would be the greatest day for EVERY HUMAN. Men like that should be used to set a new agenda for Africa and the world. He must be dragged there. There are many others like him in Nigeria, but we can start with him. ![]() |
cap28:Yes, that is exactly my point, but I emphasize LOWEST RANKS. Officers are relatively easy to control. All you need to do is retire them; frame them up for a "coup" and massively retire them. However, you still have to pull from the lowest ranks! The North used the same strategy to corner the Nigerian judiciary (the bench). They plan WELL AHEAD. When was the last time we had a southern CJN? So, if anyone wants to change the power base, let him look TO THE GROUND, not up. We need to FLOOD the lowest ranks with southerners (particularly those known for their ability to fight). ![]() |
A few years ago, when Obasanjo was removing some "politician soldiers", during which he removed some core Northern commanders while appointing middle belters, a friend of mine was rejoicing and shouting that Obasanjo had "decapitated" the North. I simply laughed at him because he did not understand that those people aren't the problem. What Obasanjo did was to secure HIMSELF in power. He needed loyal officers, and he got them, while leaving the bigger national problem (northern domination of lower ranks in the army) intact. Partially, that was why the Northerners didn't even bother to topple him. They knew he did not change anything. They remain in power despite anything. If GEJ wants to fundamentally change Nigeria, he must use Ihejirika to MASSIVELY boost the numbers of southern lowest ranks into the army. When the North wakes up to see an equal numbers of Northern and Southern LOWEST ranks, Boko Haram would die a natural death. ![]() |
I was chilling at home enjoying my Christmas day (swearing I wasn't coming here today), but was jolted by the news on CNN about this bombing. So, here I am! Bros Beaf, your idea about expelling core northerners from the army is "good" but I fear it would only aggravate the situation because those so removed will simply join the ranks of Boko Haram. It has been my honest feelings for something, that the Nigerian army lowest ranks, i.e. those in the ranks from private to sergeant, are too Northern for my liking. The Northern dominance of those ranks proved devastating during the counter coup of 1966. It was really the main reason why the counter coup against Ironsi succeeded. It was also part of why Someone close to Jonathan should have advised him to FLOOD the Nigerian army with southern (particularly Eastern and Mid-western) soldiers. My mark word, nothing can ever change in Nigeria power game until someone does this. ![]() When the North goes about with their "born to rule" mentality, the fact of their dominance of the bulk of the Nigerian army fighting force, is the only reason. There are too many idle folks in the East and Midwest that needs a job in the army. If that is the only achievement GEJ records, he would have solved a MAJOR problem for Nigeria. |
THE United Middle Belt Youth Congress (UMBYC), a group at the forefront of mapping out the North Central geopolitical zone as Middle Belt has lampooned the north for lining up soldiers from the zone against the Igbos during the Nigerian civil war.The article clearly states that the Middle belters are talking about their role in the war against the Igbos/East. They never mentioned Yoruba in their comments. I'm sure they have a reason for that. There may be Yorubas in the Middle belt, but we know they are not in the majority there. |
Obiagu1:I was wondering the same thing! ![]() |
^^ Keep doing this until you attract an equally psychotic Igbo to put depress all Yoruba from now till new year. There are many of them here. Just wait. |
chei! How come this is 95% Yoruba? I hope this is not a joke. |
Ndigbo are not saying they would fight for anybody; the article says that Middle belt youths are (by implication) regretting the role played by their fathers against Ndigbo during the war. They are also seeking a separate identity. Their body language also suggest that they look towards the SE/SS for direction. We are not unaware of the ambient challenges they face as they navigate their political future in Nigeria. Unfortunately, they have to weather the initial storms (as they are already doing). All I'm saying is that we (Ndigbo), being THE MAIN FACTOR in Nigeria, and in southern Nigeria (because of our stability, predictability, war capacity as proven by history, and our reliability) cannot afford to sit by. We should initiate dialogue NOW with them, at youth levels of course. They know us (having fought us in battle), and respect us (unlike the noise makers from across the fence ), so we can rapport with them and take Nigeria to a brighter future. Ndigbo si na "isi ala adighi ato n'ebe akporo ya" (sorry non-Igbos, I cannot translate this one ). Having said that, I also echo what someone said already, which is that they must demonstrate SERIOUSNESS by taking open steps to dissociate with Core North, and there is no better way of doing so than to openly rapport with us (Ndigbo). It is childish to turn them away. ![]() Here I stand. ![]() |
pres-elect:Eziokwu kwu oto! ![]() pres-elect:You covered all the basic FACTS of the matter. Thank you. ![]() |
afam4eva:These youths are the future of Middle Belt, and maybe their elders are using them to These middlebelters need help figuring out what to do next, and I won't turn my back on them one bit. Don't forget that wise men come from the East. ![]() I'll be back. |
Eko Ile:You are the 419 expert and like I told you, your game is below human IQ levels, so I won't play it. You basically have two option: Evolve into the homo sapiens family, or continue with your 419 "EKO ONI BAJE!" hehe! ![]() Signing off, Yours truly Eze Igbo Nairaland (ikenga dike Anaedo, ndu di n'eziokwu 1 of Igboland) ![]() |
"Revolution" should start and end in Damaturu. ![]() |
@Eko Ile Who built the new Anambra State University? How much did parents have to f0rk out to send their kids to that school? Now, show me your own with all the HEAVY taxes. ![]() |
. . And if I choose to be as twisted as you, I would say that the ACN logo (the broom) is for sweeping public funds into private pockets. ![]() |
. . And the APGA logo is not a chicken. It is a c0ck. ![]() |
