i no be proud person, so if you give me facts I go accept ya correction. niger delta people, ijaw, ogoni, etc; say dem no be igbo, so you no fit force dem to be igbos.

if oil dey for any part of south east besides niger delta area,  make you name de area and i go apologise to you.  i dey wait. i sure say you no go run away from de simple question.

dis no be about tribalism. either oil dey for igbo land or e no dey. me i say oil no dey for igbo land, at least dem never find oil there.  if I wrong, tell me where de oil wells of igbo land dey.
The main question should be, are you Igbo? If yes, then you are even more pathetic! Though we all know you are just a masquerade. I can't show you your land! You are Igbo remember? To help you, yes there is NO OIL IN THE WHOLE OF IGBOLAND. Are you happy now? slowpoke.

oh boy, make you no allow niger delta people hear you calling them Igbos. i don warn you.  de onshore oil wey nigeria dey get na from niger delta people land. Igbo people no get oil for south east!
Though this must qualify as one of the biggest lies of the Nigerian half century, I wouldn't honor that with a reply. What Igbos rely on is far richer than oil. We rely on our natural human resource, unrivalled in Africa!

More people on NL are taking on Igbo usernames to insult Igbo people. I notice that Igbos don't take on Yoruba or Hausa names here to do likewise. It shows that we have more character than our detractors.

Yes Ojukwu is well educated which we all know (i respect him for that) and making the smart one a leader is sometimes good but not of a country like 9ja ,if he was the head of state do you mean he would be 100% right?
quit bad but what was the cause of Araba? in every thing we do the cause determin the out come.

Arewa Tamu ni,Say May Sallah(ko yaya?)
Making a smart one the leader is always good for any rational people. You obviously agree that Nigeria is not a rational country. Just don't lump everyone into it. We (Igbos) tried our best to introduce rationality into Nigeria. For that we were murdered enmasse. Today we are calling for restructuring (whatever that means!). For that the dayokanus of this world are mocking us. My point is that when next you throw around blames for Nigeria's failure, you would do well to leave Igbos out of that. Thank you!
PoliticsRe: The Famous Aburi Conference In Full Minute Detail: Judge For Yourself by Onlytruth(m): 6:25pm On Oct 11, 2009
dayokanu, your way of reasoning would kill Nigeria and ensure permanent enmity in that space for a long time! If I follow you right, what you are saying is that irrationality and stupidity backed by the force of arms is preferable to sanity and rational dialogue. If Ojukwu outwitted the rest of the Nigerian delegates combined, whose fault is that? Should he have babysitted them at the conference, especially when they were deceiving themselves by usurping positions and ranks in the leadership of Nigeria for which they were obviously not qualified?

If Ojukwu was smarter than all of them combined -as history has finally shown- wasn't it better for Nigeria that he should infact be the head of state? But that was Nigeria then! That is still Nigeria today -43 years later! The cart attempting to pull the horse.
But we are all learning from that history.

Because of your type, the next time there is a conflict in that country, you can be sure that we would put might before right! We would amass weapons before caring about the fairness of our position. We would organise mass murder long before even finding out whether there is a non-violent alternative. Hopeless country! Keep justifying evil, history is still unfolding!

The same with the Biafran story, tell them that if Northern leaders were not killed while the ones from the east were spared, the mas sacare of Igbo`s that took place wouldn`t have happened, explain to them that if the plan was to eliminate Igbo`s, that would have been done after Biafra surrendered, explain to them that if Igbo`s were so hated they wouldn`t be in all corners of the North making money and protected by the army anytime they are attacked, tell them that if they were so hated they wouldn`t dominate trade and have more top government officials than any other ethnic group besides the Hausa`s and maybe Yoruba`s.
Igbo have been killed in the north since 1940s, long before independence. They have continued to be killed in the north up till 2000s. So, Nzeogwu's coup only provided a pretext for the north to embark upon their favorite past time. Igbo survived after the war, still survive, not because they are well accommodated in the north. They survive because they are the surviving type. However, merely surviving cannot equate thriving! I'm even worried that soon some Igbos would start equating the two. That is why I'm concerned about some Igbos here on NL sounding like Yorubas and forgetting their history. Cosmopolitanism is not the same as foolishment.

That was nothing but sadistic blood bath and massacre of innocent people, not a revolution.

Please stop re-writing history.
Nigerians and irrationality!
So there can be a revolution without "blood bath and massacre of innocent people". Your brand of revolution must be by GOD! Which is why Nigerians fool themselves about a bloodless revolution. History teaches us otherwise. In a deeply tribalistic country as Nigeria, revolution (bloody or not) is IMPOSSIBLE!
So, divvy up the place!
PoliticsRe: Major Nzeogwu And His Colleagues Tried A Revolution In 1966- Tunji Braithwaite by Onlytruth(op): 5:43am On Oct 10, 2009
To all those Nigerians who still call for a revolution; In 1966 the level of corruption was at about 30%. Today it is at about 90%! So, revolution is impossible in current Nigeria. Only something new would do. Something truly transformative. Something like partitioning the place into manageable parts!
PoliticsMajor Nzeogwu And His Colleagues Tried A Revolution In 1966- Tunji Braithwaite by Onlytruth(op): 5:27am On Oct 10, 2009
The need for a revolution in this country is so strong and there are people available to see it through.

What Major Nzeogwu and his colleagues tried to do in 1966 was a revolution but it didn’t work.

It was like that  because they allowed the reactionaries to intervene. The reactionaries in the military intervened with active help and support from abroad. But the situation of the world is changing now that oppression and injustice in different parts of the world is no longer the business of that country. So, don’t worry about that.

Nzeogwu and his colleagues failed because there were reactionaries in the military as well as corrupt elements. And these hijacked their revolution. But like I said, the consideration of world politics has changed.

There is an international court of justice for trying injustice committed against humanity. People who appeared to have gotten away with the injustice they committed have not really gotten away. They would be brought to justice.

If you can’t see the handwriting on the wall yet, I will not blame you. In Nigeria, the best is a tool in the hands of the corrupt elements. Sooner than you can imagine, the best will be in the vanguard of a revolution. There is no alternative.

Mischief! See the article for exactly what it is; an attempt to break the friendship between the ND and Igbo's at a time when the hegemon adversary is weak.

The hegemon is not happy with the new strength of the Niger Delta, talkless of an alliance with the Igbo.
It is very unsettling for them to witness the strengthening of the friendship between two dissenfranchised regions in the country, the SE and SS; two groups that share common pains and desires.

The friendship between both regions sends shivers down the spines of the so called newly "Igbo friendly"tufia! Northern oligarchy. They spent 440 billion arming the JTF, only for it to be rudely surprised by MEND, so they have learnt that force will not work. Indeed in all out war, the ND with its oil can arm to a degree that will shame any local opponent. So maybe their new tactic is to spread poisonous apples?
The Igbo are a formidable force in all sphere's, a group of "can do" folk that force milk out of rock; even then, they need the ND as much as the ND needs them.
There is a lot to fear in the friendship, the article mentions the fact that the ND shoots above its weight in the press (also add business, finance and education); well, the Igbo are unrivalled in business and technology. Why wouldn't any evil doer fear an alliance between these progressive groups?

Let's move beyond petty suspicions and look to the bigger picture.
The Igbo fought a just war and lost, the ND attempted a coup against IBB and lost; perhaps, it is time for both sides to put away the past and WIN.

Beaf
you said most of what I wanted to say. ND people should really know that they have one comitted enemy in Nigeria -Yoruba people!
I might even forgive abokis because one could argue that they don't really know much. But Yoruba is a friend only to the Yoruba. If not that the north made the mistake of July 1966 and the civil war, the whole country would have come to know the Yoruba more. But the day of final reckoning is fast approaching!

PoliticsRe: Nigeria Is Finished by Onlytruth(m): 7:50pm On Oct 08, 2009
The painful truth is that there is nothing to "finish" in Nigeria. It was founded on aloof ideals. Pray, what type of a country cares more about her continent than her own territorial interests? What type of a country cares more about foreigners in her midst than her own citizens? What type of a country "dashes" a portion of her land to her neighbor to justify a "big brother" hubris? What type of a country violently murders her own citizens for the slightest dissent, but looks the other way when foreigners rape the country? Why is Nigeria ever willing to kill Nigerians, but bulk at the thought of a war with her neighbors -whether Chad, Niger republic, or Cameroun? What type of a country is that huh
Nigeria is yet to be a country, so there is nothing to finish. Nigeria's spere of influence would only continue to diminish, not just in Africa, but in West Africa. It would only get worse until we form a country.
Big brother my ass!

Nigeria is due for a bloody revolution, it is only a bloody revolution that can cleansing the country. I believe history repeats it self, i have not seen a developed country in this world that achieved development without killing off its ruling and elite class. It is the Bolshevik revolution in Russia, or the French revolution, or the American revolution. Coming closer to Africa, it is the Rawlins led revolution in Ghana or the South African battle against apartheid. We need to kill off the ruling class before this country can move forward. Even Fela sang about the reluctance of Nigerians to fight for freedom and justice.
You have a point here, but there are simpler things that can be done now. We can decide today, to start documenting mass murder in Nigeria, and dragging the perpetrators to justice whether in Nigeria or the International Criminal Court -ICC. I lamented the death of Gani Fawehimi for the simple reason that he was the only courageous Nigerian civil rights lawyer of his time. It is even harder to play that role when you know that Nigeria carries a particular murderous historical antecedent. However, anyone or group can resolve to say NEVER AGAIN. In this resolve, it shouldn't matter whether the victims are BOKO HARAM or MEND. As long as they are captured alive, they should not be summarily executed without court trials and fair hearings. Once we insist on the real rule of law, instead or rule of police or army or SSS; then, we would start seeing a gradual reduction in shoot at sights. We would start reclaiming our rights as the owners of the original mandate. Then, we would regain our authority and willingness "to fight".
PoliticsRe: Why Has Nigerians Lost The Will To Fight by Onlytruth(m): 8:26am On Oct 08, 2009
Each time Nigeria violently puts down popular dissent -Biafran revolution, student uprising, labor union demonstrations, mass political activism, ethnic uprising, religious uprising etc -  Nigerians cheered their government. In all of these, innocent lives are lost and blood shed. Yet, Nigerians - in their peculiar nondescipt sadistic and narcissistic nonchalance - simply carry on as if nothing happened. "As long as it is not my family, or ethnic group, or religion, or fraternity, then, it must be fair!", they would say.
Until Nigerians start documenting and dragging to justice, all the mass murderers in Nigeria masquerading as leaders; until someone decides to bring them to justice by any means necessary, the murders would never cease and Nigerians would never find the courage to "fight"(demonstrate) for positive change.

I knew that the Yorubas worked against implementation of the Aburi Accord, but the deltans too? huh I now understand why MEND can never make a real head way on this resource control thing. The real enemy is actually within the delta. As a matter of fact the only real supporter of resource control might be south east, though I doubt that the Igbos will allow a repeat of history.
