Not a fan of Ifeanyi Uba because he (like many Igbo billionaires) fail the most important (and perhaps the most elementary) rule of power. Money does not give real power; it is only a means to power. Money is only one (of many ways) of acquiring power. He seems to want to buy power with money. There is much much more to power than money! ![]() Sir Louis Philip Odumegwu Ojukwu (Ikemba's father) was the only Nnewi man who understood how to marry money with power. I am saddened by Uba's seeming inability to have learnt this lesson. Even Ibeto has not learnt that lesson, but he seems to be learning fast. Coscharis understands it to some extent but can never match the smallest Yoruba or Hausa billionaire in that understanding of power. I'm quite sad for Ndigbo. BTW he should stay away from Anambra seat of power, because he has demonstrated that he does not understand Nigerian national politics. ![]() |
ogugua88: Lol. I think this is a busy period for many of us. I haven't been posting but have read every post and like the suggestions thus far. We shouldn't be discouraged by what some may deem a lack of interest or motivation. Many of us have seen of what Eze Ndi Igbo is capable. The constitution drafting over the summer was impressive. We can do it again. So, let's continue voicing opinions and ideas to take the best strides forward. Thanks sister Ogugua88, please compile and present it to us here so that we can all keep track and work from there. Yes, we are all very busy, but that is why this job is sacrificial in nature. We shall get there as you noted. Thanks. |
ifyalways: I'll love to hear more from you,Eze Only Truth.my thoughts are that we are a group,a people and not a poltical party.Having that in mind,we are bound to have conflicting opinions on issues concerning Ndi and Ala Igbo. How do we handle our differences, tolerate each others views without necessarily seeing each other as sell outs or sabo?Ify, thanks for this question. I believe that Ank gave the best answer possible on general individual disagreements. On disagreement with the Eze, I can say that it has been happening constantly throughout my tenure. It is part of what makes us Igbo, what makes us a strong people. The Eze must not impose his opinions, and I try not to: I persuade strongly, but that's it. I have personally on several occassions disagreed with some of our brothers and sisters on a number of issues; but that is where the disagreement ended. Respectful disagreement with the Eze (or anyone for that matter) is what we all want; what we are actually working towards, hoping to achieve with this document. My particular interest is that the Eze should not be insulted and ridiculed. I know how particularly painful this issue is (talking from experience). We have politicians who are PAID and make serious money, but DO NOTHING for us to defend our interests; yet we revere and honor them. This job comes with some collateral bagages which the Eze will have to bear on his head. None here will help him with that. Therefore it is very important that we encourage, protect and defend the Eze because he is working for us. The Eze is Ndigbo here. An attack on the Eze (whether verbal or non-verbal) is an attack on Ndigbo as a whole. I have to say these to help us protect this institution. Thanks my sister. |
donchris33: okija juju was disqualified because of his utterances against ndigbo, please what makes pointb's puppets different? just give a reasonable answer. brother you aint talking with a fool o. If pointb thinks that nobody can challenge him and his puppets, he is making a big mistake. My brother i understand you very well, because i can see that you really mean well for ndigbo, but you are unconsciouslly being used. Just look at these case from my point of view and you will see were am coming from.Nwanne we understand your pains. We share in them too. However, what we are doing here will help to ensure that such actions will not be rewarded ever again by Ndigbo. Ironically, this thread is exactly where you need to be to make your inputs. This rule will be the working document for the next tenure. It (if designed well) has potential to remove anyone that throws Ndigbo under the Nigerian rickety bus ever again. I have not even made my own submission in full. I am waiting for you (my people Ndigbo) to make yours first, because I don't want to be so off from what you want. Join this process and embrace it fully. Let's secure this institution before it falls into the hands of wrong people. My life experience has shown me that the people you consider friends might actually be your worst enemy, and your perceived worst enemy your best friend! That is why I always urge UmuIgbo to keep their eyes open and count their teeth with their tongues always. Democracy is the best form of government, because one person can never be wiser that ALL. Thanks for joining! |
@ 9ja_I_Hail, I got your mail my brother, and I wish to thank you for your selfless and committed service to Ndigbo. The issue you handled (with PointB) gladens my heart and tells me that this organization will be in good hands after I quit the stage. What you are doing here is also remarkable. The hardest job is one that is UNPAID and laden with INSULTS. Jisie ike nwanne. ![]() |
ifyalways: uhm, what do we define as ridicule or insult? That is exactly what this process is trying to design and define. That very issue is very important because I see no future in an institution that can be poopooed by anyone just because the leader of that institution is powerless. If we allow that to happen willy nilly, then we might as well kiss the whole thing goodbye. BTW, I believe that this question is similar to asking "how does anyone define beauty?" We are humans, and there can be a broad agreement as to what is beautitul. That is why beauty pageants are possible. That is why "beautiful" women are harder to get than ugly ones. lol. So, let's not pretend that most people don't know when they are insulting their fellow humans. I am ready to discuss this more. . . |
Eko Ile: Unfortunately for your dumb a/a/ss, I don't give a fcukkkk about your fcukking pride, this is for my own personal enjoyment...Eh, have you run out of pictures? lol Na wa o. |
Ngodigha: WHILE YOUR HAWOLOWO WAS BUSY WITH YOUR PEOPLE HERE, FOOLEh, bros was there a war here too?
|
Eko Ile: https://i48.tinypic.com/10f8809.jpgDude thanks for all the pictures. Our pride increases astronomically each time we view them. Please keep them coming! ![]() |
Balkan: It's the truth my brother we are from the same village.Hehehe! .Arusi apiri api bu osisi at the end of the day! ![]() Ozodi "mgba"'s tree has been identified and "codified". I thank God everyday that he created me Igbo. ![]() |
Balkan: You all should not waste your energy on this publication. The so called Ozodi's mother is from Osun state in the family of late Pa Oluwole Oladimeji. No wonder why the guy reasons though his rear orifice. I've always known that anytime anyone only sees the problems of his so called tribesmen alone, while turning blind eye to problems of others, it usually stems from issues of corrupted, questionable, or malcontent roots. Poor soul. ![]() |
Umu Igbo, you are all duty bound to contribute your voices to HOW we secure and strengthen the institution of Eze Ndigbo here. It cannot design or build itself. Arise and build brothers! ![]() |
biafranbaby: He who doesn't know when the rain started beating him, will not know when it stops. We have a serious disease in our midst and this cancer must be removed first before the body can start rebuilding itself. My brother what we are trying to do is to design a vaccine for the "cancer" you are concerned about. Believe me you are not the only one concerned here. If you started from the beginning you would know that the essence of this exercise is to design that vaccine. A vaccine helps the immune system to defeat a disease by preparing it first. Surgery is usually a very crude method of healing cancers. So, please join us. Anyi ma ihe anyi n'eme. Dalu nwanne. ![]() |
I guess the only thing missing in "Ozodi" is the "Mgba" suffix! lol. ![]() |
biafranbaby: If after your birth, your father gave you the same name as this guy, maybe you should not be writing things.hehe! ![]() |
Still on the ability to envision group interest, let me state now that I HAVE CHANGED POSITIONS SEVERAL TIMES JUST TO ACCOMODATE IGBO INTEREST. I have no choice than to do just that if I'm serious about keeping Umu Igbo together under one roof. I'm not saying that it is possible to get 100% support in any direction; I often aim to gain about 70% suppport (more than 2/3rds) before heading in any direction. When there is no clear direction (say in a 50/50 split) then I tip the scale in my direction (as mandated by our people). I'm saying all these to help us articulate what we need from our Eze and Eze Nwanyi. |
Ngwakwe: Nwanne m, ka-anyï hapü ihe gara aga. Ka anyî tinye aka hu na Ogbakö a bù nke nwere ntuala siri ike.I support the bolded words in full. ![]() |
FreeGlobe: I cant stand this hypocrisy, forgiveness is alien to this issue on ground and nobody should want us to pretend nothing ever happened. I maintain that everybody has a right to his/her opinions. You cant tell somebody to change her poor ideologies because of an office, albeit a cyber office. If you are telling us to forgive and allow somebody that uttered and still uttering iddiiotic statements against igbos to lead igbos, why was okija juju disqualified, why was he not also forgiven. I guess its about personalities and bias, one is a moderator, the other not, one is a female, pointb is male. would you also offer the same position to almajiris like Alh harem, coogar, illegunboy, desola etc if they apologize for their tantrums at igbos and claim igbo. we cannot be forced to believe anybody is igbo online, we only know through your posts.I hope you know that Okija_juju and Coogar are the same person (and there are many more of his aliases). Nwanne, I don't want us to derail this thread but I believe that we should all guard against destroying this fragile institution. To build is VERY difficult; to destroy is VERY easy. Our opinions can build or destroy, and we are each responsible for it (the opinion); nobody else is! We have basically waged a WAR to keep the ideals of this institution intact and relevant. I am praying to God that our successors can keep it intact and relevant because I see many wolves prowling and scheming to pull it down. It would take a combination of character strength, focus, divine support/guidance, mental toughness, and street level trickery (aghugho) for anybody to lead Ndigbo and to lead them in the right direction. May God save us! |
Dede1: I guess the above post is genuine epitome of unfounded conflict among people who dwell under retrogressive canopy. I had been raised to understand that opinion begets opinions. This leads to one of cardinal laws in physics which is Newton’s third law of motion, thus, for every action there is an equal and opposite reaction. It is very human for a person to express an opinion and equally human for another person to bear counter opinion. It annoys me when the first person who bore a ridiculous or even wonderful opinion turns around accuse the second person who bore diametrically opposed opinion as an attacker. We are Ndigbo, and nobody, repeat, NOBODY can ever be big enough to make us drop our individual opinions on ANYTHING. lol Only EACH individual can do that for himself in the interest of the group. What some of us are only trying to do is to teach our people HOW to envisage collective good, even as they hold their individual opinions. This is where we normally fail as a people. Most times, our people cannot (or do not want to) see collective good because they see themselves as bigger than anything, even GOD. People can say or do whatever they like provided they spare a thought for the group. We rise and fall TOGETHER. There are some people (who claim to be Igbo) whose only mission here is to destroy Ndigbo (from within). It doesn't take much to pick out such people; just go through their comments and those of their many different usernames. They speak for themselves. One of them even tried to become Eze. lol. |
Dede1: Please do not bother to read because Ozodi Thomas Osuji has been declared persona non grata at Ngo- Okpuala supposedly his village.I somehow managed to capture the gist of his drivel. I adopted a "quatitative method approach" to read it (read every third paragraph); it always works for me because the writer normally repeats his core idea every now and then. My conclusion? MR Osuji is a classical "intellectual parasite". Such thrives on nothing more than sophistry, and cannot exist outside of their hosts- true geniuses like Achebe. The Osujis have to feed off these true genuises by resolutely attacking them. If they don't do that, they die. His "piece" is nothing more than the ranting of a demented ant waiting for an end to his pitiable existence which can come in form of an insecticide, or even a suicide. |
ogugua88: I agree with most of what you said. You know I don't speak Igbo. I didn't deliberately not learn though lol. My parents didn't teach me. A lot of Igbos, both in Nigeria and diaspora, have parents who didn't teach them. It becomes deliberate when one knows he or she can't speak Igbo and he or she doesn't make any effort to learn.Ogugua88, I'm particularly happy that you see the sense in learning the language. Believe me I have seen people with a fraction of your intelligence learn basic and passable Igbo within a very short period. The most important thing is that you are INTERESTED and WILLING to learn Igbo. Where there is a will, there is always a way. You remind me of myself in many ways in that I started leading people from as early as my primary (elementary) school days, through high school, university and up to now. I know a leader when I see one (from years of experience). Leading skills is like computer programming skills, or swimming skills. Once you've acquired the basic skills, experience covers the rest, and anytime you encounter a leadership challenge, INSTANTLY AND INSTINCTIVELY you will rise to the challenge! With this approach you will go far. Jisie ike, nwanne m nwanyi. ![]() |
ndu_chucks: Onlytruth and his people would be well advised to listen to your suggestion. It is actually foolish to be publicly exposing their imperfections the way they are doing on this thread. Issues like this should be hashed out within their ENYI setup. Why project themselves as buffoons when it is not necessary - I am disappointed because I assumed that these folks are more sensible than this. SMHMy dear ndu_chucks and Negro_nts, with all due respect both of you are wrong, but I can understand that a normal person can be confused if they are not Igbo. The fact is that nothing works in Igboland without public participation. What you are seeing here is a normal Igbo modus operandi. Both of you saw what happened in the controversial thread that went 30 pages, and over a very minor issue. Our people are FIERCE DEMOCRATS/REPUBLICANS. We are not "washing our dirty loins in the public"; we are merely sharing one of our most treasured cultures (the culture of democratic participation) with the rest of Nigerians and the whole world. The Eze Ndigbo Nairaland and ENYI are not the same, though the Eze belongs to ENYI by default. ENYI has a seperate leadership, and is mainly OFFLINE. Our Eze here is just a mouthpiece which communicates our resolution in ENYI to the rest of Ndigbo here in Nairaland. Other Igbo leaders in other online and offline forums will play the same role too. This is the much I can tell both of you. This process is only designing a working document for electing the Eze Ndigbo here and the conduct of the OHA and EZE in this place; nothing more. For it to be credible and accepted by Ndigbo here, IT MUST BE OPEN AND TRANSPARENT. That is who we are. Please understand us. Thank you. |
There is a submission I made sometime in the past, some months back, about the need for any Igbo leader online to know how to read and write Igbo. I dropped that idea in the past but I have been thinking more and more about it. No matter what anyone may say, Ndigbo are a unique people in the Nigerian nation. There are certain things that we can only be compared to the Jews. FACT. Then I started to wonder about which Jewish leader or leader of a Jewish group could not understand Hebrew or read Hebrew text. I started scratching my head. Igbo is not some extinct language spoken in the past (Thank God that has not happened yet!). It is a language spoken by at least 40 million Nigerians, BUT it is dying. Should we then help to bury it by having leaders who cannot read or write Igbo? I THINK NOT. Anyone who cannot read or write Igbo can learn to do so within ONE YEAR. Yes it is very possible. I have seen Alj_Harem learn and write Igbo within few months! So, I believe it is a deliberate choice for an Igbo son or daughter to "not be able to write Igbo". There are books and there are methods of learning Igbo. We should be helping the language survive, not helping it to die! Our future leaders in this and other forums should be Igbo speaking and Igbo writing. History will judge all of us on this issue. Gotta go. I have to earn my living. ![]() I'll be back later. |
9ja_I_hail: Qualities and responsibilities expected from Eze and Eze nwanyi Ndi Igbo NairalandI endorse all the bolded words, with special emphasis on the big bolded words. IMHO the leadership we have here MAINLY about information "warfare" (if you like). This is an ONLINE FORUM, not the streets. Any misinformation not challenged or correct may be adopted as truth and used for action in real life. That is the fact. Our leaders must defend and protect us in that "war", else they are likely to be relegated and made irrelevant. My candid opinion. |
My first submission is that this exercise should not be hurried because there are many of us who wants to comment but we are very busy. I suggest we allow this exercise to run well into December. Igbo (Nnewi) proverb say that "ana eme ngwa amicha aka, a ya afai ya n'uko?" Is there any need to hurriedly lick the figures, would it ever be put back on the shelf? ![]() So, my main thing is for us to get a working document that should serve us for years with little ammendments here and there in the future. I am still working on a complete submission, but I think that 9ja_I_hai captured my thoughts on the code of conduct for the Eze and Ezenwanyi. I will try to copy and paste his quotes that I agree with. |
Umu Igbo ekele m unu ozo! I wish to thank our Chief Bureaucrat and de facto Electoral commissioner PointB for starting this thread. What we are about to do here is very important, and we must conclude it. We discussed it in the council, and our aim here is to obtain as much suggestion/proposals for each item as possible, and then go back into the chambers to collate opinions and document it as our electoral and code of conduct codes. I hereby advise every Igbo here to make his/her voice heard now, because we are determined to implement whatever we obtain from IGBO members here who are the OHA in this (Oha and Eze) exercise. At the conclusion of this excercise, it is my hope that we shall have strenghtened the institution of the Eze Ndigbo Nairaland. I appleal to every Igbo son and daughter to apply wisdom in his/her suggestions here. I shall return later to make my own contribution. Thanks, and may the exercise begin! |
I have added one more issue above (the role of the Church). Read and reflect. Thanks. |
ODUA_NEGRO: Onlytruth,All your advice is well taken. Thanks. |
FreeGlobe: Onlytruth, I disagree with you. Everybody here is entitiled to their opinions afterall everybody came to Nairaland by their freewill. you cant force an opinion on people so you cant say an official must think a different way than she normally would because of a position. Thats pretence. An official must be defined by passion, belief, conviction and not ignorance. Nobody is asking the said candidate to change her views, just that she cannot lead ndiigbo as oba of lagos cannot lead ndiigbo and vice versa. its crystal clear. I expect you to declare that seat vacant and drop pointb for irregularities before odumchi takes over. chikena.I did not say that you must live with her. I said that we need a proper process of removal from office. We are working on it as I write. Thanks for your patience and understanding. |
And this is the point I leave the thread! Umu Igbo bikonu IGNORE THIS THREAD HENCEFORTH! Signing off, Yours truly, Onlytruth, Ndu di n'eziokwu 1 of Igboland, Eze Ndigbo Nairaland. ![]() |
Da infamous: Her Yoruba and aboki supporters have taking over the thread i hope ogugua88 is happy for what she brought to her so call people,Nwanne m, nsogbu adighi. Onweghi ihe kariri Umu Igbo. Onwebeghi ihe mebiri. |
Eze Promoe: If so then the thread should be closed or locked. My brother I don't have the powers of a Moderator, and even if I ask they would not grant it. This is part of why we decided that ENYI (Eastern Nigeria Youths Initiative) will have very little to do with Nairaland. My appeal is that we Umu Igbo should recognize what is going on here and simply stop posting on this thread. We have done it before; we can do it again. Thanks bros. |
