ndu_chucks: Eze Onlytruth, I tried to cover ya yansh by suggesting that you are returned as Eze unopposed but you declined. According to the rules of this election, you are on the ballot, Odumchi is on the ballot, and one more candidate will be added shortly. My friend I know that you will REALLY miss me veery badly, but I have to move on. ![]() I am happy that at least I groomed someone to take over from me. So, get ready for your new king. ![]() As for the bolded, we haven't got to that stage yet. Why are you jumping the gun? lol |
PointB: No one is afraid of Okija_juju. His disqualification is simply a formal way of letting him know that there are certain behavior expected of those who aspires to lead us. Whether he has a chance or not, does not come into the equation. Even if he had one vote, any one who contravenes the rule will be disqualified. It is pure symbolic, not tactical nor strategic. For a guy that often prides himself as intelligent, I marvel at how ekt_bear sometimes can't string together the simplest of logic. I decided to allow him believe whatever he wanted. lol |
Qualities the in-coming Eze must have to be relevant to the office: (1) Must be well educated and well rounded on ALL topics -politics (local and international), public administration/government, economics, history, sciences, culture, etc (2) Must be free to lead Igbo opinions on issues affecting Igbo, Eastern Nigeria and Nigeria. This office is primarily about leading Igbo opinions on Nigerian politics. (3) Must be prepared to engage in heated debate over issues concerning Ndigbo without fear: this office can only use words to put people in line, nothing more. (4) Must be witty (clever) to represent Ndigbo. (5) Must be organized (we want people who are comfortable in their own skins, being Igbo). (6) Must have some time to spare. (this is the MAIN reason I would not go for re-election). I won't have time next year. (7) Must not be a coward. For now, I am leaning towards Odumchi because he has been the de facto Onowu -Prime Minister of Ndigbo Nairaland, and a worthy member of my council. He has cut his teeth while working for me. Onye fee eze, eze eru ya! I would go out of my way to ensure that he delivers for Ndigbo if he wins. Let the process continue! ![]() |
ekt_bear: Ultimately, their community should be allowed to choose its leadership w/o interference.Would you allow Akin_egba to contest for Oba Yoruba here? If your answer is yes, then you stand on point. |
Okija_juju =hyperman= madcow= coogar =countless other usernames. I wonder how a human being can live his life this way. Our cultural revolution will smoke out of such people and either force them to leave Igboland, or change. |
Another comment from the Eze. I have noticed that some of our people are still trying to collect back spilt milk, and in the process unwittingly undermining this process. I can understand that some non-Igbo may do this for mischievious reasons; I cannot understand why any Igbo would do same. I don't know whether supporters of Okija_juju are naive or just plain dumb. The man sealed his own fate with Ndigbo last year, and his current behavior has not improved one bit. He even told us some pages back that he would not reject or withdraw some of these views that sealed his fate with the rest of us. As the office says, it is for Ndigbo ONLY. Then comes the next issue. How do we know who is Igbo here on Nairaland? Okija's words told most of us that he is not Igbo. I personally still don't believe he is Igbo. I am entitled to my hunch. ![]() When I say that his sins are UNPARDONABLE, I meant every word. And yes, there are unpardonable sins! I know that Nigeria has warped some of your minds to the extent that all aru are accepted these days, I would be shirking my responsibilities if I allow that rot to rear its ugly head here. Uncompromising resistance to these types of behaviors (I can get away with anything in Igboland -any aru whatsoever) is part of the CORE of the cultural revolution launched by ENYI. Disunity (based on all sorts of things) is the greatest problem facing us Igbo. Anything leading to Igbo seeing other Igbo as different IS AN UNPARDONABLE SIN, unless of course the person repents and asks for forgiveness. If it were in the olden days, I would have sold Okija and all his followers to the Portugese slave merchants in the coast! Yes I would. ![]() Only a fool points to his father's house with the left hand (in Igboland of course). ![]() BTW let it be known that Okija has at least 20 usernames on Nairaland; and his followers have similar numbers of usernames. So, how can we allow him to contest when his unscrupulous followers would likely inundate us with spurious votes? Onye wetara atumatu ahu, onwekwara ako na uche? ![]() If we are talking about another guy, we could have since added him to the polls. So, anyone who is still canvassing his candidacy is either one of his countless usernames, or his confused minnions trying to overawe, adulterate and befuddle the process, and in the resulting melee skew the election to his advantage, or defeat the entire aim of the process. So, let's move on. ![]() |
And this is the point I leave the thread for now. Signing off, Yours truly, Onlytruth, Ndu di n'eziokwu 1 of Igboland, Eze Ndigbo Nairaland. ![]() |
abouzaid: akuko mike ejeagha. Zu zuru si ebe a pụọ. Onye iroNwanne, gba ofogeli ahu nkiti. |
COOLDUN: I hear you my brother, I feel the pains as you do, but my dear brother bear this in mind that Dim C.Odumegwu Ojukwu was a mortal man, who had an expiring date like you and I, to us the Ndi Igbo we wished he could live forever but as God has the final say, we as mere human beings can never decide or dictate for God almighty. Coming to the going home of the Israelites, Moses started the journey but never finished it, Joshua the son of Nun finally took Israelites into the promised land. Ndigbo , today have so many Joshuas including you and I, irrespective of our backgrounds, status, sexes and believes , our almighty father never stop his work on the way, and he never abandon his people in the wilderness. Southern Sudan is a life example of what our God can do.My brother, don't worry. The truth is gradually coming out in Nigeria. If you wake up one day to find a turtle on top of a wall, it is very logical to assume that it did not get there by itself; someone put it there! We have learned A WHOLE LOT OF LESSONS from the war, and have adopted a completely different strategy which MUST achieve the SAME thing for us - freedom to live in a country, safe, secure and progressive. ![]() The Ikemba did his own the best way he knew. A lot of people don't even know that secession was NOT his first choice for Ndigbo. That is why he went to Aburi and painstakenly negotiated a sane structure for Nigeria, only for that to be dished at the last minute. Modern Igbo are using modern strategy to force a progressive change that will achieve the same thing for us -in or out of Nigeria. A lot is going on. Trust me. |
Please umu Igbo, continue to ignore trolls on this thread. If you feel angry about any troll, report the poster to the Mods. The Mods promised to keep this thread tidy. First ignore them, then report them if you must. Thank you. ![]() |
I wonder where FACE is? He promised to be part of this process and possibly contest the position. These are some of the folks that have worked with the Eze to serve Ndigbo selflessly during current tenure. My consolation is that ENYI -Eastern Nigeria Youths Initiative- will absorb some of the most selfless and committed Igbo on this forum. I thank everyone (Igbo and non-Igbo) who has maintained the integrity of this process. |
Chiemeka orizu: yea bro am frm nnewi that is why my name sounds familiar.onlytruth I salute o.I salute all the nnewi people on NL.I salute all the igbos on NL. What a great people what a great igbo nation. Am proud to be an igbo man. I nominate berem 4 ezenwanyi of NLNwanne deme. I am from Nnewi too: from the Eze Agha ancestral lineage. My mum is from the Eze Oguine lineage. I am a THOROUGH Nwa (Anaedo) Nnewi. Nno. ![]() |
As for those who want to know what we did in the year of our tenure, it only shows that you have not been reading all the comments from page one. It is glib to jump into threads and start commenting without first reading what others have already written. It is unintelligent and untawdry. If you have read it, the next logical thing to do is to ask SPECIFIC QUESTIONS, not open questions. Else, go to page 1 of this thread and read. Thank you. |
Chanchit: So onlytruth is the Eze indigbo of NL, I've told him to shut up a couple of times, choi Eze ndo o, btw, how much is the Eze's salary...?My brother I fell off the chair laughing at the two bolded sentences. ![]() They are actually oxymoronic somehow. Imagine an unpaid Eze getting insulted for doing his job the best way he knows how. ![]() Frankly my brother, you are just one out of MANY who had thrown such insults. It comes with the job -what I call the underbelly of the job. The ultimate truth is that the Eze is basically powerless and can only wield the COLLECTIVE power of umu Igbo; that is, each nwa afo Igbo here enforces (by any means they may individually determine, but mostly verbally anyway) the Eze's directive for censure or reprimand of any individual. That is why I stated at the early part of this election process that I would not endorse anyone who knowingly refused to follow our leadership. Unity, or at least a solid majority of purpose, is the only force of enforcement and power by the Eze. So, if the Eze is not followed by the rest of us, he is basically a sitting duck. So, no problem brother. No offense was really taken. ![]() |
Odunnu: What slap on my face! Okija is running for the Eze post and proudly says he cant write in Igbo language?Nne, not to indulge you, but you are one of the most regal of "Igbo ladies" on this forum (BTW I know you are not really Igbo). Your Igbo is elegant to read. Nke ozo bu na omume gi roro aro. O buru na m enwebeghi nwunye, a ka m achu gi mbi aka mbi aka: Translated: The next point I want to raise about you is that your behavior is lady-like and graceful. If I have not been cornered by another female, and if you were still single, I would have pursued you to the ends of the earth with every asset I own (money, stocks, lands, flowers, raps, lynching of any opposition , etc). I bu Eze nwanyi already, though ceremonially. Dalu so. |
I wish to use this opportunity to thank our able electoral commissioner, and the entire elections tribunal, for being true sons of Igboland. You truly made me very proud to be an Igbo man today. Thanks for your tenacity of purpose, focus and vigor in ensuring that we choose a credible leader at the end of this exercise. Jisie nu ike umunne m. |
Demdem: PointB said allies of Igbo. Do allies also neccessarily have to understand the languageWe always welcome allies and friends. That is why the process was designed to encourage them to participate in nominating and hopefully voting during the elections proper. Those allies and friends of Ndigbo don't have to speak Igbo to belong. Actions speak louder than words. We umu Igbo know our friends and allies here on Nairaland. |
Bro Dede1, please ignore that animal. You bless him with your attention. |
@charles.nerd My brother you cannot understand because I don't think you were here last year when we had the first election. You also cannot understand because you were not here when Ojukwu was being mocked by Okija and his Yoruba allies on his dying bed. You also cannot understand because you don't know how hard some of us have worked to "whip" certain renege Igbo here into line. Sometimes we are abused, and ridiculed; we still soldierd on. The position of Eze Ndigbo, (or any Igbo leader for that matter) is a very lonely one. However I knew that going in. Luckily for me, adighi m agba ka m data ego. ![]() Thank God for that. I have heard all you said and have taken correction where necessary. Let's not derail this process. Thanks. |
Okay, I'm back. Though briefly. |
One more thing for the records. I revere Ojukwu; that does not mean that I approve every of his actions during the war. As far as I'm concerned, that war should NEVER have been fought. There are SO MANY things he did wrong. However, that does not mean that I should wish him death on his sick bed, and that does not mean that I should wish his soul goes to hell. Any Igbo properly suckled by his/her mother would NEVER make those types of statements. Anyway, let me go for now. I'll be back later. ![]() |
Any Igbo person with SOUND faculty would not quarrel with my position on Okija_juju. The man made his choices -he chose to denigrate other Igbo (Imo and Abians) that are non-Anambra Igbo. By so doing he incured our collective anger. He set us back many years. He also chose to insult and ridicule Ojukwu when the man was terminally ill. He did so to the extent that NO SANE IGBO WOULD ADMIT HE IS IGBO. Most of my positions are taken from POPULAR IGBO position. I only lay a vision in some cases. My vision for Ndigbo is that we should learn from others certain things we lack, like speaking (largely) with one voice. In a crocodile infested waters of Nigeria, it would serve us rather than kill us. @Ifyalways The people supporting you also revere and respect their own icons. An example is that the Nigerian media and masses have been harrassed to high heavens for weeks now, just because Achebe called Awo a mass murderer. I wish you show the same passion in defending Igbo as you show in trying to force us to be more cosmopolitan than others. The people cheering you on here have been calling Achebe and other Igbo icons all sorts of names. Any sane Igbo shouldn't accept such cheer because, like a friend once said, "it is not a good thing to be loved or supported by a snake". So, nakwa echeki. You and I know that I invited and assigned a role to you. Even if you did not like that role, you could have at least told me pointblank that you won't accept that role and resign. You didn't. In fact up till now, you still haven't. Honestly, I have a lot of things to say, but I can't say them because I have this Eze thing on my head. Once I remove it, I will open up. The bottomline is that ANY PERSON WHO DID NOT ACCEPT MY LEADERSHIP WILL NOT HAVE MY SUPPORT. You cannot be a leader if you cannot follow. Common sense should seal that. We can all accept to build, or we can all scatter together. Onye obula jiri ire ya guo eze ya onu, and don't be an instrument in the hands of our enemies. I will be back later. |
And this is the point I leave the thread. Signing off, Onlytruth, Ndu di n'eziokwu 1 of Igboland, Eze Ndigbo Nairaland. ![]() |
Bunchers stab: This slowpoke called achebe don insult awolowo finish?Be careful what you say dude. |
Noiseless2: Eze Onlytruth igadi o! And yet you still maintain we remain in this cursed niggaria, please we need you all to support Biafra there is no place like home.My brother, I have taken a very careful look at Nigeria, and I can see that we are already gaining an upperhand, provided that our people stop this mentality of always turning the other cheek and forgiving mass murder. Our enemies are already foaming in the mouths and dying of backwardness. Our greatest vengeance is to beat them IN NIGERIA. We shall use the current laws to rise to heights that will make them wish that they had allowed us to leave. They will beg us to leave, but by then it would be too late for them. Trust me, I know what I'm saying. |
dayokanu: You mean after all these you rape them?Igbo female is your de facto "Prime Minister". If she were Yoruba, she'd been killed by political enemies who fear her rise. Nigeria has produced more female Igbo ministers (pure technocrats) than you can ever dream of. You know what, the longer I try to teach you, the more I realize that I should heed Achebe and just keep quiet. Action speaks louder than words. ![]() |
bjdon: Feelings of ethnic superiority has been the downfall of many 'great' empires and nations. It is a real shame that a many of Achebe's intellect could stoop to such a lowe level. Then again there were many intellectual titans in both the Nazi and South African white govt. I am not a Yoruba or Hausa, but I must say in this case I totally stand with them. What we don't need in Nigeria of 2012 is any kind of ethnic superiority claims.Err, this is what he said. Let's analyse. He observed that the Igbo culture’s emphasis on change, individualism and competitiveness gave his ethnic group an edge over the Hausa/Fulani man who was hindered by a “wary religion” and the Yoruba man who was hampered by” traditional hierarchies.”The whole world know that change, individualism and competitiveness are agents of development. They are also empowering in many ways. The whole world also know that Igbo in Nigeria are dominated by this culture. Has Islam been good to Nigeria? How can you develop if you lie flat on the ground to greet a fellow human being? These are the simple truths. Embrace it or die. |
dayokanu: What makes you Igbos denigrate women so much.Err my statistics say we actually respect and advance them more than you can ever dream of. We: We marry ONE wife. We send females to school more. Advance our females careerwise -corporate, politics, etc. YOU: You marry >3 wives. You use your wives for gbomo gbomo You block your females from holding political offices (actually you kill them if they try) Actually You are scared of women! ![]() |
dayokanu: Lagos despite being a Yoruba state, ruled by Yoruba economy dominated by Yoruba we even offered to take it away.Ruled by Yoruba man. Yes. Economy DOMINATED by Yoruba. NOPE. ![]() |
dayokanu: Stop r@ping your women like the ABSU 5Your frustration is showing already. ![]() I show you statistics about female literacy in Nigeria which show Igbo areas beating you into the ground. I am sure you will soon pull newspaper clips of crimes in Igbo areas, but conceal your own crimes. There are Igbo brothers who would take you up on that fight; not Onlytruth. I am more interested in things than sane folks can relate to. Sorry dude. BTW your statistics vindicates Achebe. Daalu. ![]() |
dayokanu: Take out all of LagosHow can we take out Lagos, when about 20% of Igbo investments and assets are there? You also want us to forget Delta and Rivers states? Are you for real? This is what I call lying to oneself. BTW I didn't add our investments in the North because of strategic reasons. ![]() We diaspora Igbo send more money into Nigeria than you can ever dream of. I personally hate bragging about stuff like this, and I totally agree with Achebe that we Igbos should operate silently. ![]() |
