Or which is worse, plagiarism (Sanusi) or misrepresenting yourself as a PhD holder, lying about the importance of your research, etc (Emeagwali)?
Not trying to even defend anyone but plagiarism by the CBN GOVERNOR OF NIGERIA is FAR MORE SERIOUS.

What has this got to do with tribalism? I'm still trying very hard to see the tribal angle of plagiarism committed by the Central Bank Governor of Nigeria.
The man failed SEVERALLY to show intellectual honesty by giving credit to original owners of materials he cited.
I can even feel the pains of Prof Victor E. Dike who I think would have let this slide had Sanusi not continued to plagiarise his works.
The man is even being very enlightened and polished by suing only for commensurate injury. In US he probably would have also sued for punitive injury.

Jason and Rhino, can you people ever grow brains?

Professor Charles Chukwuma Soludo was NEVER engaged in any form of plagiarism, neither did Phillip Emeagwali. FACT.

Please don't derail this thread that can potentially ensure that half baked people never made it to sensitive national positions of responsibility.

In all honesty, I believe that Sanusi is a product of a bad school. I find it hard to believe that someone like him would intentionally steal academic materials. I've seen a lot of that in Nigerian academic articles.
The so called academics we have in Nigeria are yet to understand the gravity of this offense.

I learned the lesson when a lecturer (here in the US) gave me a "C" score on an "A" paper simply because I failed to use the very citation style she wanted us to use (not that I didn't even cite it). I forgot to use the TURABIAN style of Note-Bibliography citation, and instead used the "Reference" style; that was it! Now, imagine what would have happend if I mis-cited or failed to cite at all. All hell would have been let loose.

Sanusi should go back to school! cool

But come o. Didn't Sanusi complete a Masters Degree thesis? If he ever did in a reputable institution, he would have understood the gravity of INTELLECTUAL DISHONESTY. Citation of sources is like the single most important process in writting of academic/seminar papers.

Nigerian life expectancy has decrease gradually over the years. The WHO occassionally cites malaria as the leading cause of death, but I strongly suspect that cancer may be on the rise due to poor environmental review regime in Nigeria.
I wonder what FEPA (if they still exist) has on the books. I'll research it a little and post my findings later.

PoliticsWe Need To Upgrade Environmental Review Process In Nigeria by Onlytruth(op): 3:07am On Apr 24, 2012
This issue has been on my mind for a very long time, and today, it was rattled by a similar thread here on Nairaland (https://www.nairaland.com/921834/roasted-chicken-sold-openly-lagos#10667946 ).

I wonder what environmental review processes (EIR/EIA) that are required from industrialists in Nigeria.
This problem exist in ALL PARTS OF NIGERIA, so please let no one derail this thread because it may save oneself, friends and family members

I have personally noticed increased cases of unexplained sicknesses and deaths in my town (Nnewi), and I've become more worried about what could be causing these deaths. Just last year, a friend's mum came to the US with a strange growth in her mouth, and she was lucky that she came early enough, because once she got to the hospital (my friend took her to emergency ), they were shocked to see the growth, and swang into action immediately to remove the growth. She is from a very industrial section of town in Nnewi, and I suspect that she may be a victim of some of these industrial pollutants.

As far as I know, there are no clear environmental control processes in place for such industries as batteries and other car parts manufactured in Nnewi. What worries me most is that these industries are in the elevated parts of town, and their effluents/discharges inevitably seep into the water table/ground and run down stream with underground water, to the rivers and streams. Villagers still use the water from these streams and rivers for everything: drinking, cooking, bathings etc.

Anyone in the house who is knowlegeable about Anambra, Igbo or Nigerian environmental review processes should please share it with us.
Poor environmental review process is IMHO the single biggest existential threat to the Nigerian peoples.
We can have development and strong environmental review regime. They don't have to be mutually exclusive.
FoodRe: Roasted Chicken Sold Openly In Lagos: Where Are Our Standards? by Onlytruth(m): 2:45am On Apr 24, 2012
Environmental pollution is the single BIGGEST existential THREAT TO NIGERIA.
That the FG or State governments are not freaking out big time about his sure death syndrome beats my imagination.

Right now, my biggest fear is that my town (often termed industrial) is a ticking time bomb, because as far as I know, no one has ever demanded environmental review process from any private industrialist in any part of Anambra state. We are in a hurry to go industrial, but we may end up wiped out by carcinogens before we may see the jobs or economic benefits of these industries. cry cry

ogugua88: For anyone that's interested, I recommend Stop That Smoke by Henry Obermeyer. It's a very old book, from the 1930s or so, but that era was one of terrible pollution. I bought that book after returning to the US from Lagos. If I were a pathologist, I'd go home just to examine lungs of the newly deceased, no joke. Riverside, California is one of the most polluted cities in the United States. I lived there for a few years for studies. I must say that the air in Riverside is the freshest of air compared to Lagos air. When I was staying in Lag, I'd wash my hair and the water was dark brown to black. I'd come home from a day out in Ikoyi and use my fingernail to scrape dirt from my forehead. Under my nail was black. Air is the silent killer in Naija. I pity those with asthma or emphysema. With that kind of air, food should not be exposed outside at all. People should not be hawking from dusk till dawn.

About the North, sadly you are mistaken. They are not ready to go anywhere and sentiment alone does not build nations, you've got to be pragmatic as well.
Where will your borders be? Who will go with you? There are quite a few unanswered fundamental questions.
The only positive I can take from the core-Northern position is that it make a national conference easier to accomplish. However, the talk of separation just might be negotiating tactics (just asking like for equal oil revenues) to set the bar so high that the status quo is maintained.

NorthSharp: Even some of your Igbo brothers and sisters would shake their heads in disappointment at the level of absurdity you exhibited in your claim in the part in bold; a Hausa of Fulani man claiming to be Ikechukwu "just to shortchange the SE during army and civil service recruitment"! Every sane person who is familiar with Nigeria would tell you that it is THE OTHER WAY ROUND!

But in any case, can you take up the challenges I threw at your NL Eze, which are as follows:

!. Can you tell JUST ONE Hausa-Fulani poster on this forum who uses an IGBO NAME as part of his moniker, for whatever reason or motive, and he/she sticks to using that moniker so religiously, passionately, proudly and for so long as your rejected Igbo brother Ndu Chucks continues to do?

!! And can you name ONE Hausa-Fulani or Northerner (or any NON-IGBO for that matter) who would so proudly state on a public forum like this that HE/SHE HAS IGBO BLOOD RUNNING IN HIS VEINS if that is NOT the case?
You avoided the main poser in my post, which is this: IF YOU ARE SO SURE THAT NDU_CHUCKS IS NOT A HAUSA/FULANI, HOW DARE YOU INSIST THAT HE IS IGBO? huh
How do you know that he is Igbo? huh huh huh
You can only say that he is not a Hausa/Fulani (which doesn't exist anyway because you are either Hausa or Fulani), and stop there. You cannot say more than that.
What speaks for Ndu_chucks loud and clear on this forum is his posts which encapsulate his core being. It is that being that defines a person. Ndu_chucks celebrates and lionizes Northern mass murderers like General Murtala Muhammad(who committed genocide against Igbo in Asaba) among others. He resolutely defends the actions of Northern military personnel during the war in their pillaging and destruction of Igboland. For a very looooooooooong time on this forum he derided Ojukwu and mocked Biafran war heroes. Above all, till tomorrow, he justifies the shooting of UNARMED MASSOB (Igbo people), and never misses an opportunity to issue more threats to Igbo should they attempt a violent secession, part of which came out in this thread, hence this exchange.

At a very early stage in this forum, many Igbo including myself challenged him on his moniker which sounds Igbo. He told everyone who cared to listen that his moniker is NOT IGBO. He pointed out that his name is not CHUKS, but CHUCKS (a clear difference) and attacked people who thought he was Igbo back then. When it suits his devilish objectives, he states a laughable and windy claim to having 25% Igbo blood!
What type of a ludicrous claim is that? You are either Igbo or you are not. And I'm sorry to say this, but I am not easily deceived (like you). I also find your claim about Igbo denying their tribe very stupid and disingeneous. NO IGBO EVER DENIES BEING IGBO. In fact I have seen MANY MANY MANY countless people on this forum claiming to be Igbo when they are NOT. Some do so for mischievious reasons, others do so for subversive reasons. In fact, Igbo is the most claimed tribe on this forum. You don't have to believe me. I am yet to see a REAL Igbo person claiming to have any other blood in him even if that is that case, unless he is trying to advance Eastern unity or Biafran agenda. But even at that, such persons maintain CLEARLY that they are Igbo. cool No Igbo claims other tribe to advance Nigerian unity. IT JUST DOESN'T HAPPEN. cool

So, like I said, your Northern brother ndu_chucks may not be Hausa or Fulani, but he is certainly a CORE northerner.
PoliticsRe: Edwin Clark Prevented Igbo Presidency & Caused Escalation Of Boko Haram Violence by Onlytruth(m): 4:23am On Apr 23, 2012
Okay, I have a few observations and would follow them up with assertions.

Northsharp, I see that you are worried that ndu_chucks ( a total and committed CORE Northerner ) is using threats of violence to drive his political agenda, having failed woefully to do so with superior logic. You are not being sincere in your argument (or at least you are not being REALISTIC) in your position about ndu_chuks not being a Northerner.
It is even most offensive and insulting to insinuate that ndu_chucks is Igbo!

Take your time and search this site dutifully, and I assure you that you would not find ONE Igbo who reminds us that the Nigerian airforce bases are in the North, or that the jets taking off from those bases would obliterate Igboland (PH ) or Warri.
If you see such a poster, please show me!

You may not be confortable with his stratagems (as a Northerner yourself) , but it changes nothing about his origins and above all LOYALTY. if you are so sure that he is not a Northerner, how dare you tell us that you are sure that he is Igbo? undecided huh

As far as I'm concerned, a man is an embodiment of his total being. One of the most critical parts of that being is his LOYALTY.
Any man who sides consistently and permanently with a tribe that committed the greatest genocide against Ndigbo can NEVER be Igbo.
If ndu_chucks is Igbo, then Adolf Hitler was a Jew! cool

BTW ndu_chucks, did your brain freeze in 1967?
Why can't you see that things aren't exactly like they were then?
I'll give you some examples.

Do you know how easy it was for the North to kick Ernest Sonekan to the curb?
You do recall how the North was running Obasanjo like a houseboy in 1976-80, right?
You do recall how remarkably different the same Obasanjo was in 1999-2007 (even till today)? Right?
Do you recall how Adaka Boro's "revolution" was rounded up in a few days, and how current MEND gave a completely different account of themselves.
This GEJ you are seeing may lead to your FINAL downfall in Nigeria.

I warned you once that the next war that you would see in Nigeria will almost be like a flipped Biafran war, with only the core North fighting the rest of Nigeria. You would do well to take that advice to heart and repent.

ndu_chucks: Onlytruth lies, why do you feel so superior to your Igbo brethren here that you are compelled to explain what they wrote, as if to say that they are intellectually inferior to you. I suppose its due to the pathological Ego based ailment, prevalent in your neck of the woods.

Every one of your followers, including the normally talkative ones like Sam_Ikenna (he is probably a pastor), have avoided the point I've made concerning Edwin Clark. Because the way you are being used by Clark and GEJ is frankly, shameful, I understand your wish to avoid the topic. Biafra4tharmy: Rolf steiner was a professional soldier of fortune born in Munich, Bavaria on January 3,1933. He rose to the level of Lt Commander of the 4th Commando Brigades in the Biafra Army during the Nigerian civil war . He was the son of a protestant father and catholic mother, steiner's father had been decorated in the first world war as part of manfred Von Richthofen Squadron. In 1967, while living in paris he made contact with former colleague Roger faulques who was organizing a mercenary unit for the newly independent Republic of Biafra . Steiner flew to port harcourt via Lisbon, portugal and enlisted into the Biafra army as a company commander . Steiner had success in the field and was given the responsibility of organizing the 4th Biafra commando Brigade as a Lt col. On may 25, 1968 they led a successful mission against a federal Nigeria air field in Enugu destroying six Russia made bomber and fighter aircraft. Steiner far from being a mercenary fought for the Biafra without Pay

Well, my response is already well presented by my Igbo brothers here. So, I would just cut and paste it again!

So, here we go!

PointB: Ndi Igbo,
I think we would do well to avoid falling for ndu_chucks bait. The clown asked what we (Igbos) have benefited in an Ijaw man's less than two years reign. Isn't it funny how he conveniently failed to tell us what we have benefited from 38 years regime of the clueless northern rulers. More importantly, what has Nigeria benefited from 38 years rule of the North.
Another one! cool

Sam_Ikenna: ndu_chuks pls dont kill me with you jokes. Which one be epistle writer. Anyway, I'm not in the mood or, better put, in shape to be on NL today. I know you, you're a staunch die-hard core north voice and I'ld be a fool to fall for your bait. Why did you single out Igbo? Is SE the only region that voted for GEJ? Its clear SE is the reason you guys have not fried GEJ like Akara jojo. We dont need you to tell us who Edwin Clark is, we know him inside-out, however, Edwin Clark is not Ijaw nation neither is he GEJ, he is just one man representing himself and for that we will not throw our Ijaw brothers under the bus. Isnt it funny how you guys held on to your neighbours up north very tight yet you want to create katakata for us and our brothers? We're wiser now. GEJ will finish his first term in one piece and if he says hes going for a second term we, the Eastern people, will fact-check his promises and actions.
This one, though not from Igbo, nevertheless na die! cool

Rhino.5dm:
