CareerRe: How My Upholsterer Lost 15 Million Naira Contract Because Of Attitude by ONNYX: 3:58pm On Apr 05, 2022

Sounds a bit tricky! Let me explain,

Your landlord would have called different carpenters and go through their invoices before picking one. This has nothing to do with pride.

Stating what he does and does not do is his right to freedom of expression of his work ethics. Your landlord is only looking for someone to ride on like a horse!

Conclusion, if your landlord would give a roadside carpenter a job for the government house, shows you how our government is being run. No disrespect to roadside carpenters, but a 15M job should be given to a reputable furniture company!!
I am sure that if you read your post several times over, you will recognize the fallacy in your opinion. I cant believe that you can still reason like this in 2022. Its simply preposterous.

Help yourself and others Bro!

Change your world view.

In your earlier post you said your friend is based abroad and comes to Nigeria to stay two weeks and then leave.

Then in your concluding part you said he has a bike and small shop and he's just hussling...

I see lies in this story.

This I have seen.

I worked in a company where by if you are late , just 2 minutes late N500 will be deducted from your salary. A lady earning N18,000 collected N3,000 at the end of the month.
That person is incorrigible.

The 3k should have been accompanied with a dismissal letter.

So sweet to say teach for a while, understudy the management then start your own school later.
For how much that the school will pay NCE maybe between 12k-17k with school lesson. How is she going to save, to start her own school?
You could try to approach the matter from a more positive perspective.
Whatever the school owner can pay her at this time should be commended and appreciated Right now she is at Point zero where her income is Zilch. If she gets 17k at this point in her life its is a good starting point. In all of this I would like to commend her desire for independence...as that is the impetus that will stimulate her to greater heights/

As an addition I would like to mention something here. Your description of the salary paid by private schools is typical of the regular Nairalander nay Nigerian inexperienced unemployed/underemployed graduate who sees employers as sharks. It would interest you to know that the owners of private schools in this country deserve awards year in year out. This is regardless of whatever they pay as salaries.

Do you even have an idea of how most of these Private Schools stay afloat and not to talk of paying salaries. Perhaps you could look around and develop a relationship with a local school owner and allow her share his/her experiences. It is not an easy feat to keep a school running and growing until it attains some form of stability. Just imagine how many dependants you would have in our society if for some reason all the mushroom schools had to shut down abruptly. There would simply be chaos.

Learn to be a bit more charitable (or at least show some understanding) towards school owners and indeed other small business owners. They make a significant contribution to our GDP and keep the socio-economic fabric of our contemporary society very sane.

It is not even about maltreatment as that can be found everywhere, but the fact that there is no laid down channel for resolving such. Also no clear career path or growth.
Maltreatment is only meted out to the underperformers. If you hold your own and know your onions you will be highly sought after and I assure you of a royal treatment by all and sundry.

Good evening, if you are looking at a brand new phone, the Redmi 10 is what you should be looking at or scale up a bit more for the Redmi note 10s. I am just assuming you might want to stick with Xiaomi. For used, maybe a Redmi note 10 pro if someone is generous to sell for ₦120kish.
Many thanks Sister!

Assuming I wanted a change in brand what would you recommend?

.....And I would rather stick with a brand new phone. I only get to change phones once in two years so i might as well go for a brand new set.

One final question is what is the major/significant advantage the Redmi Note 10 pro has over the Redmi 10?

FamilyRe: What's The Advantage Of A Court Wedding To Men? by ONNYX: 6:43pm On Nov 03, 2021
michru:
This is the question that an ilitrate should be asking.

Reminds me of a Yorùbá movie.

Wife had been pestering her husband to do court wedding, he refused, the wife's parent tried, he still didn't.
Told them he will not and he didn't see the need for it and probably didn't favour him.

One day, the company he worked for decided they were going to send him and his family out of the country, maybe to head a department. He was so happy until he found out he needed his marriage certificate in order to process the whole package.

Come and see begging, the wife refused, he went and begged the wife's parent, then they reminded him of how he said court wedding is of no use for him.

Abeg, for sake of formality, do what is right in time.
If you don't have an ulterior motive, then do all that is proper.
Very sad that you had to bring this here but then Nollywood is credited with being the most uninspiring movie space globally.

Why will the man beg the wife to agree to a court marriage? this is rather questionable as the reverse should be the case. He is the one being sent abroad, the others are appendages. the wife and kids are even the greatest beneficiaries. As a matter of fact the inlaws are second line beneficiaries before the man himself. So many options exist for the guy ranging from going alone, right through to getting a second wife.

Is it by force to give out loans? Is lending the only business in Nigeria?. How can you give out loans to people you don't know and without collateral then you begin to disturb people who don't know anything about the transaction in the first place. Is that not madness? Can a Nigerian try this nonsense in China?
These loans are not forced.

They are voluntarily taken with the 'victim' taking numerous steps beginning from downloading the app, applying for the loan and permitting the Loan providers to access their phone contacts

As we gradually revert to normalcy, I need to renew my passport.

I live in Lagos but work in Ogun State. The previous office of issuance was Ikoyi, Lagos?

Is there any advantage of going back there?

Is the DIY process hitch free and how long does it take?

Perhaps I should hire a middleman as we do for almost everything else in Naija?

Gratefully awaiting your responses.

I noticed that many people were recommending females for this role.

Without wishing to sound gender biased it is important that it is made clear here that what the OP seeks is an Industrial Oven operator.
I doubt if a woman can push in and pull out a fully laden trolley on a consistent basis.
Jobs/VacanciesRe: How Are You Surviving Being Jobless ? by ONNYX: 5:45am On Oct 16, 2021
I have read through the entire thread.

Most people who posted here have already been damaged by our very defective school system. Very little can be done to help them out of their situation. The only succour they need is some kind of job…..and not just any job but a government job....perhaps they will get it as the dollar keeps rising...... after all this government has in place many socio economic improvement schemes including but not limited to NPower and tradermoni. But I nonetheless I wish them well.

There are however quite a few posters here who are truly genuine in their desire for improvement which would in turn lead to a job or better still an income. Help will naturally come to those few. It is for these few I wish to make a minute contribution:

If there is anyone here who seeks to develop a long term career in the baking industry, I can be of help. Now you don’t have to be a baker, there are really a lot of areas that have been developed that now require very astute professionalism.

If you are in Lagos, and are open to developing a career in the baking industry, then shoot me an email stating your area of interest and attach your detailed and up-to-date resume. I am not promising a job but I will provide free guidance to the first 10 Nairalanders that respond. This could be in the form of recommending you for a role or guiding you into earning an income in the very robust and seamless Food and Beverages Industry.

Please note that all the support I can give will be free of cost to you but also limited to remote channels (email and perhaps whatsapp only).

Only serious candidates who are desperate to bend over backwards to change their circumstances may reach out to me via onyxxbleu@gmail.com.

Seriously it's been hell as Bleep, lost my job at the seventh month of my wife's pregnancy, we started staying at home and finished the little money I had saved even spent the one I saved up for hospital bill, after that I started begging friends and families just to feed everyday.

She gave birth through CS and made everything worse, I got loan , borrowed money and all.... Till now am still unable to pay up any of my debts.

Staying jobless is just an experience of how hell would be especially if you have a family to feed.

Depression, frustration, being lost in several thoughts, seeing yourself as useless and different experience.

Jobs/VacanciesRe: My Junior Brother Need A Factory Work Please Help by ONNYX: 12:55pm On Oct 09, 2021
munarule:
If you check some of my previous post, i talked about my ill brother but now he's very mentally ok and very well. We discovered what happened to him was done by an uncle in the village and thank God the man confessed and was dealt with.
So I advised him to relocate back to lagos since all the money for his business has been spent
He is 29 years old and very hard working. He want factory work so he can raise money and start up his business again
Please if you know any factory that can employ him in lagos please do let me know. God bless you sir/ma
For someone who has been in business his incapacitation why do you wish him a salary experience before going back into mainstream business? And you added that he is a hard worker?

Why not set him up with a small business? You could consideer something small nut lucrative. With just 50-100k he could start out with something that will give him at least 2 -5k daily even within that your Abule Egba axis. This will also help you keep an eye on him until you can vouch for his complete stability. he needs very close observation at this point and all the encouragement he can get to recover fully,

If you insist on a factory job, then you could seek out one of the very large industrial bakeries in that neighbourhood.
Queensmeal comes to mind. They are always expanding and thus ever recruiting and pay reasonably well comparatively.

Feel free to ask me for further help if necessary. i am willing to help as I can connect with your interest in getting him back into a wholesome mental health.
Jobs/VacanciesRe: Where To Get A Daily Paid Job In Lagos? Help by ONNYX: 11:41am On Oct 09, 2021
I can be of help to a one or two people here. I work in the bakery industry and can help with getting you jobs in well run bakeries that can pay you better than the Industry standard. But you must however be serious enough to get the job.

Location is of utmost importance here.

If you want to be earning up to 50-100k i the next six months then you have to develop a skill which can be used to get you a job. The problem of most people is that they take a Chinese job and learn nothing in the process and as such by time you are going to another Chinese company you have nothing to place before them by way of expertise. Even in Pure Water factories some people get as much as 50k just for having a small skill that others do not for instance if you know how to change a driving belt that puts you ahead of the rest. Stop thinking that the Chinese companies do not pay well. They pay you only based on your expertise and nothing more.

This economy may not get better before 2023. But we all have to survive and perhaps even thrive.
Lets work together towards making 2022 a most rewarding year for all of us.

Please help, I need advice, I am very confused man, I don't know what to do in this situation

There is this girl I met in Lagos she help me find a house in Lagos from there we started dating.

I Asked her to marry me and get pregnant for me. Later she got pregnant for me.
She started disturbing me about marriage rights.

On the wedding day I discovered that she has 3 children for one man.
I have asked her several times even before she got pregnant she keep saying no

A day before the wedding, one of my uncle called me and tell me that one babalawo said that the woman I want to marry has 3 kids already.

All that day I wasn't myself I woke her up at midnight and forced the truth out of her
She admitted and start begging me to forgive her, she said she has been looking for the best time to tell me. All this are happening on our wedding day, she beg me not to tell anyone that it can be secrets between me and her àlone, I insisted that I must tell my people from my state enugu to Lagos

My people discouraged me and said I should thank God for revealing this early.
That's how I cancelled the church wedding.

Court marriage 30th September
Church wedding 2nd October
But Before that wedding day, we did court marriage, I told her that I don't want to do court marriage because if she cheat on me I will divorce her and loose my half of my money she got angry, the first day we didn't talk, 2nd day same, Then 3rd day she start packing her loads, I beg her to stay that we have few days to church wedding she insisted that If I don't do the court that I should cancel the church wedding that she can't trust me without court marriage

We did the court marriage, without my parents consent cuz it didn't come from my heart, her junior brother is the one that sighn for me in the court

I don't know what to do in this situation oo

Her first son is 13 years
2nd son 8 years
3rd girl 6 years
And now she is pregnant for me aa

Am 30 years while I don't know her real age

We have lived together for 8 months before I could discover this
And during this period we have been together
She controls me alots and that make me sad
She shout at me too
If ask me to do something for her and I refuse it becomes problem

Please what do I do ?
On the assumption that this is not one of those tales that Seun and his team use to attract traffic to their site on very boring weekends Iwill make a contribution here.

History is replete with stories of very foolish men brought down by the wiles of women from Adam through Samson, Hosea and a host of others.

But you Sir, have earned the crown. From realtor to Girlfriend and then wife all within a very short space of time and to crown it all ....it happened in Lagos.

Don't you have male friends that you can confide in...even if you don't have relatives?

You are a the personification of unintelligence and deserve only to marry that girl.

Please ensure that you stick by her.

Nonsense and ingredients.
CareerRe: How Can You Become A Professional Accountant? by ONNYX: 3:43pm On Sep 05, 2021
Layze:
THE ATS LEVEL:

The ATS level has three parts (exams): ATS 1, 2 and 3. The body in charge of this level is known as ATSWA (Accounting Technician Scheme West Africa). The exam is done across some West African countries including Ghana, Liberia and so on. Each part has four exams which make a total of twelve exams for the three parts.

After completing the exams in all three parts, you shall be inducted as an ATSWA member and be awarded an Associate Accounting Technician (AAT) certificate. This certificate alone boosts your standing among other junior and mid-level accountants and gives you recognition.

Also, without mincing words and with the exception of few courses, I can tell you for free that this certificate is equivalent to a 400L accounting student in a typical public university in Nigeria. The AAT certificate is recognized in countries like Canada and the UK. With your AAT certificate, you can easily practice as an accounting technician in Canada.

THE PROFESSIONAL LEVEL:

The second and final division is the professional level from where you can become a qualified and certified accountant. Just like the ATS level, this level also has three parts – foundation, skills and professional. This level is where you become a pro in the accounting field.

The foundation, as the name implies, is the entry stage into the professional level. It is the stage where all the basics of accounting as a profession are being taught. Every B.sc and HND holder in any other course aside accounting will start from this level. This level contain five exams to be completed before moving to the next stage – although, this will be reviewed soon according to reports from the association. For someone who has a B.sc or HND in accounting, he will be exempted from this stage, as it is believed that he shouldn’t have a problem with the basics. Such person will start from the next stage – skills.

The second part/stage in the professional level is the skills stage. It is the pen-ultimate exam to be done before one can become a qualified accountant. This stage is the entry level for all B.sc and HND holders in accounting

Interestingly, for someone who is an AAT (Associate Accounting Technician), such person will also be granted exemption from writing the foundation stage – he will also start from the skills stage. This stage has four exams to be completed before moving to the final stage.

The last and ultimate part is the professional stage. This is alpha and omega of all exams in ICAN. It contains five exams which must be duly completed. After the completion of this stage, you shall be inducted as an Associate of Chartered Accountants (ACA) – and your dream of becoming a professional and chartered accountant is fulfilled!

I will be honest with you, it’s not a child’s play, neither is it a folktale journey. However, it is really straight forward and achievable. With focus and dedication, you can become a chartered accountant within the space of two and a half years – for someone who starts from the ATS level (1-3).
For a first degree holder in accounting, you can become a qualified accountant within a year! And for someone who starts from the foundation level, you can become a professional accountant with a year and half.

Dear parents and guardians, your child can become a professional accountant even before graduating from higher institution – regardless of his/her course of study.
My dear brothers and sisters, your dream of becoming a chartered accountant with all its reputation and recognition isn’t lost, it is still very much within your grasp. Make the move today!

Please note, this article is not completely exhaustive as there are packages for OND holders in their ICAN exams. Feel free to throw in your questions.

Truly a great thread.

For some it is the biggest pity party of the year.

For others it is the long awaited platform that will enable them have their fill in blaming 'the system'.

For some others it is yet a platform for self aggrandizement and self projection.

On the whole, it is what it is.

Life is perfect. It operates on principles that are driven by perfection. Nothing else.
