Someone said Rivers state receives five times what other states get - Debosky, I think. This is true. But you also need to consider the fact that the terrain in Rivers is quite different to what obtains elsewhere. As a matter of fact, it takes more funds to construct a kilometre of road in the Niger Delta than in other parts of the country - including mountainous areas in Adamawa. I have gone round Rivers state for sometime now. I must say Amaechi is doing a wonderful job in there. I don't know much about the other local government areas in the states, but PortHarcourt will never remain thesame again by the time the guy's through with all that is on ground here. |
sistawoman:Solid point. Let us leave gf/bf out of this discussion. Those are open ended r/ships. . . . .anything can happen. I will like to read more contributions from married people only. |
@Thor, Just like any other woman around - trust me. ![]() |
biina:I decided to edit the other bit of your entry. What's left is what's important to me - and that's not to write off completely what you have up there. By the way, C2H5OH is simply ethanol - remember CH3CH2OH? Hydroxyethane sounds a bit odd. You may want to shed more light on how you came about that name for the chemical formula. Now, to the main issue. I guess we're even here - reading what I copied from your last entry. So, no wahala. |
It is clear, biina hates generalisations. And he/she wants me to be specific in this case. It's alright. I will rephrase my initial statement now. So, can I safely say then that the Ijebu women/girls can also make good wife materials like we have in other tribes in Yoruba land? But I will quickly chip in that we then have a situation where no single ethnic group or tribe have the best wife material around. Biina, is that what you want to see? |
Dying(joining the angels) while the devotional songs was on is indeed glorious - let me die the death of the righteous O Lord! So, she passed on like that? Wonderful, marvelous, majestic! I hope the Rapture hasn't happened already! Her passing looks like it is here with us o! Her soul is with the Lord already. |
@biina, Correct me if I'm wrong, but I think what you meant up there is that my saying that the Ijebus are generally hardworking and intelligent is a sweeping statement? Well, maybe you're right. But in this day and age, would you say that castigating an ethnic group, making snide remarks about their women and labelling them as evil is better than projecting the good that abound in them? Is it not good to promote that which is good in all things? Why zero in on some negative attributes and dampen the spirit of the other person? I should remind you that I'm not in the camp of those who think/believe the Ijebu woman is evil. You can question my deductions if you like - everyone is entitled to his/her opinion. May I ask that you put your objections to my deductions for all to see here? Surely you know that Chief Obafemi Awolowo is Ijebu, don't you? |
She's gone to be with the Lord. That's the most important thing. With that, I am consoled. And now, the thought of meeting the Lord has never been so overwheliming. The harvest is truly plentiful, but the labourers are few. Let us pray the Lord of the harvest to send the labourers into the fold now. |
I spent a large number of my childhood years growing up in all of Ijebu land - from Ijebu-Ode to Ikenne, Sagamu to Ilisan-Remo, Odogbolu to Ago Iwoye. Ibafo, Ijebu-waterside, Mamu, Ogbere, Omu-Ijebu, Atiba, to name a few. I should add Ijebu-Ife is a cool place. Ijebu-Igbo is a local govt area in Ogun State. A people blessed with the abundance/best of what nature has to offer. Some of the best brains in the country are from Ijebu land. Tai Solarin is an Ijebu man. Dr. Sunny Kuku, Chief Odutola, The late Sage: Obafemi Awolowo, who transfomed the lives of many in the then Western Region is from Ikenne. Would you say that the widow of the late sage, Chief Mrs. H.I.D Awolowo, revered and respected worldwide turned his late husband to ''vegetables''? Professor Adebayo Adedeji, renowned economist, and UN official for Africa attended the same secondary school I went to: The greatest Ijebu-Ode Grammar School - Ijebu-Grams. The famous Mayflower School, Ikenne is in Ijebu land. Federal Govt. College Odogbolu, Federal Govt. Girls College Sagamu are all in Ijebu land, ''breeding'' responsible people of all ages who'd transform Nigerias landscape. I am from Delta state. But I respect the Ijebus. They are hardworking very intelligent people. Their women - from what I know, will make the best wife material any man would ever desire. Quit hating whole tribes because of some negative experience you had with one or two of them. You'll never know if help, prosperity(indeed, all good things) will come from marrying into this group - when you choose to despise them. |
I can guess the age bracket of all of ya. 26 - 36 |
Nice one Efe. Keep them coming. Haven't listened to some of those lately. Very nice songs. |
davidylan:Now, you got me really rolling on the floor laughing hysterically man!! |
What's going on?! nothing on this thread since December? My bros and sis, make una come here quick quick. We need to take this thread to a higher level. Any gist from any of the towns in Isoko? I need update o. |
I'm tempted to do a reply. But I won't. Let sleeping dogs lie. |
Ejoor's ''side'' of the Biafran War story may not be ''completely true''. But there sure is some elements of truth in this interview - a five star eye opener that will definitely send historians back to the bookshelves as claimed by the interviewer. One thing I can glean from the interview though is that the Baifran war was already in the making even before it became a battle field affair. Now, I'm surely not in the mood to engage the likes of Richyblack, naijaking, Osisi and their Igbo brothers and sisters in another war of words over this Biafra matter. We had one some time ago and I can't forget that experience quickly. But I know that in their heart of hearts, they know the truth. |
I was going to ask where Jakumo is in the midst of all these. I see he's in here already. LOL! |
And what's the price? |
I'm thinking out loud here. Is this Becomerich guy not Nigeria1 - who is well ''learned'' in posting Google satellite images on Nairaland to make a point? ![]() |
But this one pass me o! Abati should clear the air quickly before his reputation falls like a pack of cards. |
Yeah. 3-1 it is. What a match! |
sistawoman:Then don't marry the guy. Now, if you marry this guy and then somewhere down the road, you ''suddenly realised'' that you cannot live with him anymore because he told you some ''truths'' about himself, or you discover some ''truths'' yourself, sawwie. It's too late. You have to live with those ''truths'' that you recently found out - no matter how ugly they are! |
Openness and sincerity are some of the hallmarks of an enduring relationship/marriage. We need to apply wisdom to everything including marriage. Each persons in a relationship should, at every stage, and with every experience in the union evaluate the ''impact'' of not opening up or otherwise on the other person. This is not to say that couples should tell lies to one another in order to ''protect'' their marriage. When the truth about anything, any act or action is demanded by one partner, the other should in all honesty provide it, not minding the consequences! But we must apply Godly wisdom in everything. Imagine a situation where telling the truth to your partner, abruptly, without any reservation and decorum. This will/can definately destroy your union. I will rather advise that the ''offending'' guy/lady create the ''right environment'' first, and show every sense of remorse before divulging the truth. Let the other person see through you that you are indeed a partner who is interested in the progress of the union. I base my reasoning here on the fact that marriage is for life. Once married to one man or woman, you're forever glued to that man/woman - for better for worse until death do you part. Gods word is clear on divorce. When you divorce your wife or hubby, you don't remarry until the other partner is dead. And God generally frowns at divorce. Now, if telling the truth will lead to divorce (that's about the worst thing that can happen), then so be it, so far the partner calling it quit will not marry again! Every relationship/marriage is unique in many ways. And solution A to marriage/relationship A crisis, may not apply to marriage B crisis. Hence the need for Godly wisdom while handling the task of opening up to your partner about anything - good or bad! |
I see Richyblack is now the moderator of this interesting board. Bros, remember say I vote for you o. |
@David, Nice write up man. And thanks for the clarifications . . . . . . here and there. Thought provoking and enlightening. |
I'm beginning to believe that these Palestinians and Muslims in general have little or no regard for human life. And how can they? They believe that when people die for a ''just cause'' like killing Jews (zionists and non-zionists alike), they will end up in ''heaven''. |
Naijex:True. Paid agents. If these ''Zionists'' are a subset of Jews in Israel, and they don't have the support of the general populace in Israel, I believe they would have been voted out easily by now. Iranian Jews should please go home (to Israel) - if they can, and join other Jews to vote in someone who shares their idea of a sovereign Israel. |
Richyblack hates Zionists?? I've done some reading up myself on this Jews/Palestinians/Zionists/Arabs and lately Persians (Iran) stuff. Some of the contributions in here have been quite enlightening and helpful. I've also watched some News reports on Aljazeera and other Islamic networks to help gain first hand understanding of what the issues are with Israel. With the much I've read, I want to conclude that it's intolerance on the part of Israel's neighbours that is the major cause of friction in that part of the world. And why this intolerance? They perceive Israel as an occupation on ''their'' lands, and that Israel is some sort of ''anomaly'' in their area. There also seems to be some ''religious'' undertones in all of the barrage of attacks on Israel. That also underscores the intolerance clause raised earlier on. For example, the Hamas groups, presently in control of the Gaza strip, simply wants the complete destruction of Israel (they don't care if we have Jews or Zionists or anything) for no sane reason! They call the Israelis ''unbelievers'' and for them, they don't deserve to live. I simply can't understand their intolerance of Israel. Sometimes I wonder how Israel will be treated if it's a 100% islamic country. In all these, Israel have survived all these attacks on them over the past sixty years since they were declared a sovereign state in 1948. They're even stronger for it, while their enemies have remained perpetually weaker. What's suprising is the ''feeble'' attempts by their enemies to wipe them out. All I see is protests on the streets, burning of flags, unco-ordinated attacks - including launching of rag tag ''rockets'' on civilians living in Israel and other noise here and there! All these smacks of cowardice. Why not come out in the open and fight the Israelis? If they're really sure they want to wipe Israel off, they should face them head on! I really think Israel has done a lot to live in peace with their neigbours. They simply just don't want the Israelis. And this definately cannot help matters. I can only pray that these people understand the language of peace and love for others, so that we can all live in peace. |
